I remember seeing a cab that fixes the battery drain problem for WM6. Ive been searching and searching but couldn't find it. The search tool on the forum is useless at finding what i want. can anyone link me to that cab? I just want to try it on my T-mobile Wing cause the battery drains like crazy.
I think the only fix that was posted was the SD card power managment disable thing - the .CAB was called 'sd-battery-save.cab' and contained the registry settings:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\SDMemory_Class]
"DisablePowerManagement" = dword : 00000000
I could be (and usually am) wrong.....

thanks for the quick reply. really helpful. im going to try it to see how it goes. thanks again.
another thing is some apps that you might have may cause your battery to drain also. I.e. batterystatus, push mail, some weather apps. pretty much anything that keeps you wizard busy by connectin to gprs or updating constanly things like that. so play with your apps do a little test. I actually have that power saving cab. ill upload for you when I get home, but in the mean time try some of those things I meantioned.
from my experience:
1. 318 OS ver is the best for power
2. push mail (exchange or live) and constant weather update using gprs will very fast drain battery. For example: i just use exch mail with push my battery will last 1-2 days if i change from push to check every 5 min i get o extra day...
3. batterystatus: using it i get around 10-15% faster drain but a lot of improvement in speed
there are 2 cabs out there one is something like HTC power management and another is the above SD battery fix.
here's the 2 fixes, SD batt. save improved the rom NBD 7.4 im using, enjoy

I am running wm6.1 ajc2003s build....5.2.19521. The battery life is stupendous!! I have my device steady overclocked at 286 running a bluetooth WMP stream for a good 3hrs in the morning w/ calls. My gprs is always connected. I run spb mobile shell, pocketCm, opera mini, ms voice command 1.6 w/ bluetooth support, my battery has been about 65-70 % remaining after being off the charger for a good 9 hrs with good use on it. Ask me about a batt fix.....this ROM is the ultimate batt fix!! Oh yeah i forgot to mention this ish is FAST.....windows directory in explorer, fully loaded and skinned....FAST!!
Look up " HTC Power Management cab" it usualy sets up everything to save power.
However I agree about AJC rom. I'm using it right now. the battery does not go down to 50% since I installed it. I was on an 8hr bus ride from NY to PGH and used GPRS most of the time only then it went down to 51% with very heavy usage.
i will accept S.V.I a hundred percent.i am running same rom.ajc windows mobile 6.1 rom battery life is almost perfect.i have another suggestion for you.you should install Advanced Config version 2.there are some adjustments for power savings.apply all off them.also under the today theme change menu unmarked desktop timeout 4hours.i hope that will help.

What is meant by this? If it's missing will it cause your battery to drain down quicker?
I installed this XM6R5 and my battery is draining quickly. My ExtRom is empty - I deleted it thinking I would free up more memory. Did I mess up?
If I install an OEM rom again and then my XM6R5 rom and preserve the ExtRom would this fix the battery drain or should I just apply the two can files listed earlier on?

look for an empty ext rom and flash it, that clears out your extended rom which can cause battery drain issues.
I had a huge battery drain issue after a ROM upgrade a few months ago. I bought a new battery but it was the same.
I applied all the registry fixes but didn't notise any big difference.
The thing that increased(restored) my battery life to normal was to fully drain & fully recharge the phone 2-3 times.

Does any have a blank Ext Rom or know a link to one? All the links I have found point to the ftp server but no longer exist.
Here is one, It has IPL/SPL 308 and Radio 2.19.11 and a nice windows startup screen. I use it all the time.

I am having what I would consider very poor battery life from my Prophet (Qtek s200) compared to what I get from my 8125 (wizard). I have exactly the same software/today screen, etc installed on both. I flashed to Prophet to the newest qtek ROM with 100% battery (xda-developers said that would help improve battery) and did the same with my wizard (newest wizard Rom). With what I would consider moderate usage of both devices throughout the day, by 12 midnight I have about 70% left on the wizard and about 40% left on the prophet. Is there any reason I would get different battery lives with EXACTLY the same software, etc installed?
I have edited to reg. to have GPRS alway on on both, I know that this saps the battery a bit, but how much? Would resetting this to default really improve life? My today items are Wisbar Advance 2, weatherpanel, pocketbreeze (with newspanel in pocketbreeze)
weatherpanel, newspanel, are set to update every 30 minutes outlook checks my email every 60 seconds.....
I know all of the above takes more battery , but it is annoying that my wizard can do this and still have 70% at the end of the day (giving me about 2.5 days of battery life on full charge) the prophet would last just over 1 day with full charge! Anyone have any suggestions?
are the capacity of the 2 batteries the same for the 2 different models?
ie wizard vs prophet?
btw, do u have any traylaunch apps running?
check the notification queue to see if both are the same..
perhaps list down your apps installed from the "remove programs" applet
T-Mobile branded MDA. Reflashed to a Windows Mobile 6 version by "mfrazzz"
1. Battery life. TERRIBLE. I think it might be the phone. Got two other batteries. One lasts about as long as the original one I had and the other last just a little longer. Have yet to try a 100% new battery yet. In about 5 hours off the chrager with maybe a phone call and a few texts, it will drop to about 70%. Any ideas?
2. My MMS does not work. I know its from when I switched it over to WinMo6 and all the "fields" are empty for the settings. Customer Care wouldn't help me so does anyone on here have the required information I need to put it?
3. My LAN does not work. Possibly another thing from doing the WinMo6 deal. When I go to the Comm Manager and click LAN, the little windows loading icon comes up and goes off with the LAN not turning on.
in regard to the MMS not working, run the cab i attached. after that i reccomend going into the MMS settings/servers and then selecting the T-Mobile MMS connection, go in there (you'll see server name and such) and go to the bottom and change "Connect Via" from T-Mobile MMS to T-Mobile Data. that works well for me. keep that cab handy for future use as well.

i charge mine everyday... that was the same with wm5, but i can get almost two days of some phone and lots of email if i have to (gets down to about 10%). i dont think ive seen any pocketpcs that can make it much past two days with normal use... but it should not drop quite that fast -> one thing to try is go down to the 2.19 radio and look around for the power saving cabs (for some network connections and memory card) that are also built in to the later roms. both together make a big difference. also put your screen brightness to the lower setting, thats what really sucks the power.
if you like the xda roms, try going to xda 5. or try any of the other popular roms, nothin's pandora, antc wiz 2.0, theloon's kitchen for a custom, boring 1622, any TNT rom, whiterat's WRCX, etc... keep trying em out
i advise you to flash to an official rom first to get rid of any corrupt registries.once you do that....flash your favorite rom and after flashing HARD RESET....i do this to be on the safe side....

you may want to do a search for "clean extended rom". when u flash back to an official rom, they generally have an extended rom...upgrading to a cooked rom usually doesn't upgrade the extended rom...has been known to sometimes cause battery drain issues.

hey we all learned it at some point
radio is the raw code that drives the "radio" in your Wizard. it tells it how to search for a signal, what to lock on to, how to switch between voice and data, all the code that is need for the basic phone part of the PDA to work.
the extended rom is usually used by carriers (att, tmo, etc...) to install their custom software for the branded device, i.e. wizard becomes mda or 8125. after first starting the phone, a file called autorun.exe starts loading extra programs that are added on to the base operating system. it also starts loading the CAB files from the extended ROM, 10MB worth in the case of the wizard. these are things like MyFaves, the connection settings for data on the TMO or ATT networks, the setup my email link, etc...
hope that helps...
Not to take away from anyone else's work, but I flashed the T-Mobile Boring ROM, and haven't had a hitch, once I got all the internet setting right. I also am running the 2.71 GSM, and I can honestly say my mda runs better now than it did when it was new. Battery life improved, too. I am also a noob, and tried a couple others before I flashed this one...this worked best for me, since I didn't want to do all the tweaking (yet ) that more advanced users on this board know to do automatically.

THANKS! Good to know the n00bs don't get flamed too bad here
Ok my IPL/SPL right now on my G3 device is 2.26. If I want the 3.08 can I go right to it or do I need to go down to the 1.05? To go from the XM6r3 to XM6r5 what do I need to do? Should I just be able to go straight to that? It already CID unlocked and stuff for the current version I am on. Just confused on how to go from what I have now to the new one.
Thanks in advance!
Please Help
Ughh. Just went to XM6r5 and I have the same exact problems.....
Battery life still terrible. When I was done reflashing I was at 97% and after going through the settings without one phone call or text its already at 87%
The WLAN is still not working. Go to the Comm. Manager, click on WLAN, the windows loading icon comes up like its going to turn on, the windows loading icon goes off and the WLAN never turns on.
MMS messaging still says "error syncronizing"
Still on the 2.26 ROM
BUMP. Battery went down 6% in 10 minutes.... Is there a way I can just get back to WM5?
Oops, double post.

I bought a used universal three months agn universal was wm6.1 rom but universal freezes and i have about a 10 resets per day,i tray to change rom and radio rom to some of wm6 but still device work very unstable, universal just freezes and when i reset he works normaly even i tray to flash wm2005 rom but i have same problem,i begining to think that problem on my universal is hardware is that posible,do anybody have eny solution or opinion on my problem, maybe i have to install some fabrick rom or somethung like that please help i just want to my universal work properly and i want to dont have a 10 even a 20 resets per day, help!!!
It seems hardware problems maybe the battery, try another bat...
i already buy a new battery and he works good for 2days without crash but then same story, freeze
Could Be Hardware Or Software.
Could Be A Software Issue.
What Rom Are You Using And What Software?
HTC Home Is Known To Cause Lagging/Freezing On The Universal I Believe.
Also OverClocking G3 Devices Can Prove Unstable, Some Roms Enable Overclocking By Default.

I don't think so. Just one question your Uni freezes no matter what, or only when you power on? (turn on the screen)
uni works normaly during the work on it but when i put backlight of or stand by and try to turn on he freeze,or do not come back from stand by and have to reset.Or sometime when i do not turn backlight of ,he just stay turned on for 10min and when i tap screen he freeze,i also have a few freeze during the work on it
but that freeze during work are rare i can sey that they are normaly but real problem is from stand by
That happens to me, but it was the HTC Home plugin.
Try again Ranju's - v7.6, remove SD card, and don't put anything (contact's, etc) or install anything on it!! Sim card only and test it for a while...
thanks i will try later because i nom test some wm2005 rom and it seems that work good but i will see in a few days also i will try ranju,i can see on forum that he is one of the best

My advice would be to reset partitions, instructions are in the wiki.
After resetting with MTTY, flash the rom of your choice, but also flash the radio and a blank extended rom image, all at the same time.
If you still have problems after this, it could still be a battery issue, there are lots of bad batteries being sold on Ebay that do not provide enough power for all the devices functions, especially when using WM6 and Wm6.1 Roms.
Please reset with MMTY as above, and post back your results, if you are still having issues after this, charge the battery, and test with a full battery and powered device from the mains.
Cheers,
Beasty

Yes - the commands "task 28 55aa" should reset the partitions (via the MTTY tool)
As for testing your battery - you should get a couple of days and it should drain to about 5-15% before dying, if not check the wiki

Tihiti rom have little bug, when u send sms,rom send lots same sms. Can you fix that?
I fix problem, hard reset and now rom work fine. Problem is sms threader.
Problem:
I charged my phone all yesterday evening (probably around 5-6 hours). So the battery was 100%.
5 minutes later I cheched my phone: 31% battery
1 minute later: 9% battery
It stayed on 9% a while, and descended from 9 in the normal way. Ran out of battery this morning, and the phone shut down.
Before I put the phone in the charger yesterday evening , it was at 9%. So it seems that it thinks that it charged, but no current was add to the battery. So when i pull it out from the charger, it thinks that the battery is 100%, but is only in fact 9%.
Maybe my battery is failing. Never had this problem before.
The phone is ON now, and in the charger. Will update post.
Charging by USB from computer.
EDIT1: about the ROM: Really nice! Like it very much! Fast and somewhat stable
EDIT2:
Phone was charged 91% a couple of hours ago, disconnected the phone. Its still on 91%, so I think the problem is gone... Probably a user error the first time
EDIT3: After charging the phone to 91% (as mentioned before), it stayed on 91% for an abnormal long time. I rebooted the phone, and after the reboot, I had 96% battery...
TouchFLO 3D issue!
I tried to install TouchFLO 3D [ HTC_Manila.cab ] and selected it in Today.
But after reset it flashed on the screen as "Tap here to start TouchFLO 3D ..."
But after taping it hangs the phone sometimes or the application does not respond and must be reset.
Does the Pharos not support TouchFLO 3D or have i tried wrong TouchFLO 3D version.
Is it the Dimond which has got the power to use this app? Does the pharos capable of running TouchFLO 3D?
Coincidently even i faced the Battery issue as mentioned above after recharging to 100% and after disconnecting the battery came down to 87%
Will this work on the Pharos Traveler 127? I've noticed in looking for ROM updates, specifically WM6.5, I keep finding references to Pharos in general but no specific model numbers as I understand them.
Thanks for this! I have been using this for 2 days now and haven't got any problem at all so far. It's also pretty fast. Boots up fast and was faster than my old rom which was Poldo v12.
I'm running this ROM now.. i like it No problems so far! Only thing is, that my hotmail settings fail, i think it's a hotmail problem..
I'll report problems in a few days!

Hello everybody!
I am novice in pharos device
Anyone knows if this rom is compatible with Pharos 117?
Thx
Erick
The windows live update works fine! I installed the dutch version without messenger, so this one's a lot better
Thanx for the work!
This rom works great for me so far, and surely the best one yet. The memory usage seems slightly lower than any of the 6.1 roms I've tried, and I really like the newer windows menu which is superb when you get used to it.
Only real negative issue is that the bootup from cold is very slow, but because like most users I assume I rarely turn it off it's not a major problem.
I can't see myself going back to a 6.1 rom now, 6.5 is so much nicer...
USB to PC
everything works fine with me also...except for the USB to PC whenever you set it pop up screen will come with this message...:This feature needs a memory card in your device. Please insert first before using this feature."
thank. I'll try tonight.

AKU DRAIN
It may be related to battery lifetime. My Wizard worked as well for over a 2 Years, and now it starting to drain battery rapidly. If I turn on WiFi, battery can hold not longer than 1 (one) hour. I use TNT ROM, as i alwasy did. This battery problems cause an old battery which simply should be replaced with a new one.
Hi, This happened recently, only after I installed lot of things in the wizard. The history of it is as follows.
I nearly bricked the wizard, because of a computer crash, in the middle of a ROM upgrade. I could recover it and again flashed it with the RUU_TMobile_US_226102_22610105_022511_WWE_Ship.exe. After this I installed the MSD series of ROM. I had battery drain. I saw the radio rom is changed by RUU_TMobile_US_226102_22610105_022511_WWE_Ship.exe ROM. I flashed it again with 2.69.11 ROM. Still the battery drain is more. I don't know what changed. I used the wizard tool and saw lot of cabs in the EXT ROM. I formatted the EXT ROM using the tool and then upgraded again with MSD ROM. Still the battery drain is more.
Never mind. Just read your most recent post.
