HTC eClub - Possible affinity program for distributing WM6? - General Topics

I dropped by the HTC Europe website today and noticed a link for something called the "eClub". I don't recall seeing this before and so I joined.
What lo, they have a field in the registration form that allows you to register your product by SN and it immediately calls up your phone model by specific name (in my case an unbranded TyTN Hermes). I got to thinking that this looks like the groundwork for a WM6 rollout that allows for getting firm licensing headcounts.
Anyone else think the same or is this eClub old hat?

Official MDA II Carkit from T-Mobile Germany

Unfortunately I am not able to order it from their website, but after talking to Dutch T-Mobile they said it will be released soon in Holland too.
The amazing part is that it is complete with GPS receiver AND software for € 199,95 incl VAT. I asked what software and although not confirmed, but onofficially mentioned as TomTom.

I have just tried to order one, but their address format is different and I cannot get it to accept my addy
A bit of an update: Our company uses T-Mobile so I did some checking through them.
The MDA II will be onsale in the UK in April 2004, and the carkit will be available as well, however, T-Mobile UK could not confirm prices, nor could they confirm that you will get the GPS receiver/software in the UK Carkit as you do in the German version.
HTH
i am going to call the shop in germany where i bought the mda II when it just came out.
there where fast with getting the mda II
Just spoken to the XDA Product Manager for O2 UK and he has confirmed that the official carkit that T-Mobile have released in Germany will NOT be released by O2 in the UK. O2 have rejected it on quality and design grounds.
They WILL however be releasing (in about 3 weeks) a universal car kit that will incorporate a number of phone specific cups - the first being for the XDAII. It will not however have any inputs for GPS - this will be included in a future release.
Bummer isn't it? I thought it was really cool having the kit and GPS in one.

QTEK BRAND NO MORE /HTC TO SELL OWN DEVICES!

Hi all, not that I usually post but I thought id just let you know some info 'hot off the press' as my friend works for HTC... HTC are now going to sell there own devices web site :
http://europe.htc.com/
You will also see a new 3g device : http://europe.htc.com/products/tytn.php
The HTC TyTN AKA Hermes.... my mates had this on test for quite a few months, apparently Voadfone will be having this device soon as there new 3g one...
Anyhow... lots of new info to keep you lot happy.....
happy world cup!
I only hope this won't be the end of i-Mate.
Qtek and i-Mate were the only manufactures to deliver these devices besides telco providers.
Now that HTC takes over Qtek, they can rule the market, and push i-Mate in a corner.
I'm afraid that it won't be a fair competition.
i've been told the hermes (v1605) will be shipped by Vodafone UK from 10th July.

HTC didn't take over Qtek; Qtek has always been HTC's own brand! Same with Dopod which HTC has aquired recently.

HTC, Qtek and Dopod... what the hell?

Hi,
I'm from Kazakhstan and extremely confused about all those brands. HTC seems to be the big boss. What the hell is Qtek then? The official Qtek website is registered under the name of HTC. Why does HTC call some models on their website Qtek e.g. 8310 and not HTC 8310. Isn't HTC the company that produced the Qtek 8310 (Tornado)? What is all this confusion with the names for? Then we have Dopod... what the hell
is niccceeeee
I Like!! :d
what ever the name mate they sure seem to be in some kind of identiy crisis thats for sure
The other brands basically sell rebranded versions of the HTC products and handle issues such as warranty, advertising, distribution, and carrier-specific deals. They each seem to have their preferred areas, for example Dopod is really big in Hong Kong, where you see more of them than any other HTC rebadgers.
Now that HTC is starting to sell more products under their own name, we'll likely see these other companies start to broaden their lines and rebadge more products from different companies - either that or just slowly fold up into HTC as it expands.
Anyways... they really got to work on the transparency there!!
It's so annoying that e.g. the Qtek 8310 got more than 5 different names (Tornado etc)... hell that's confusing!!

Official WM6 Upgrade

As you all may allready know, HTC is prepearing to lounch an upgrade tu WM6 for several models (htc advantage, P3300, TyTN, P 4350, S620) all considered to be "messaging phones".
But HTC 9100 & Universal are also "messaging phones".
They say that they are ready to release an upgrade to those models too, only if the Mobile Operators demand an upgrade. And the Mobile Operators say that if they will receive a certain amount of requests from users, they will proceed and request un upgrade to HTC.
Meny users have allready sent e-mails to their Operators requesting an upgrade.
I am an orange user and i have allready sent an e-mail to Orange asking them for an upgrade. I have a friend who's working at Orange, and i'll talk to him an hopefully i will rush things up for this upgrade.
The point is that we all should send our requests to our Operators and soon we will recive an official upgrade to WM6.
As far as i know Orange, T-Mobile and O2 have allready recived a large number of requests.
Just give it a try and maybe we will succeed.

In fact the universal is a much expensive handset compared to some listed above. But still the operateors dont want to help us upgrade which is strange. I think we all must put our requests to the OEMS and some who have purchased through operators to provide us the upgrades.
I own a Imate Jasjar and sent them an email and got no response from them.
Since its a direct purchase from their dealers out here there is not much back up support.
Hope one of you will get the upgrade and we who are deprived will be able to upgrade our universals.

HTC sells Camera-less model?

I'm wondering if anyone here knows whether HTC offers non-camera variants of its [newer] cellphones. As usual, not much turns up on google as companies don't usually advertise (or even list!) such variants. Currently I own an Elfin running Onyx 2.2 firmware obtained from this forum, but soon I'll be starting work in an organization which prohibits all forms of cameras. It's a shame to have to ditch the HTC in favor of those cheap $60 trash-phones which do nothing save transceive calls and SMSes. (...and not to mention a significant inconvenience as I'll have to buy a separate pda/laptop etc.)
take it out yourself?
i saw someone asking the same thing in the raphael forums, because he has the same dilemma. said he took the camera out of his tytn ii
Cingular 3100 WM5(6.1) smartphone doesn't have a camera, instead of Cingular 3125 (the same but with camera)
