Wizard acting werid? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hey everyone been around these forums for a while now, but my first post.
Recently my phone has started acting weird.
I am running
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
GSM 2.25.11
OS 4.0.0.0
Using nbd.v7.1.touch.ext ROM,
was also using the Faria WM6 ROM
the issue is that the phone picks up my signal, it stays for a few seconds then and then it loses signal and the phone turns off ( in com manager phone is now off), then the phone turns on (in comm manager) and searchs for signal, and it keeps repeating the same sequence.
I have tried changing ROMS and i keep getting the same thing.. I have no clue what the problem is. I even got a new sim card and still problem persists.
Any ideas?

just a guess.. you have cingular? yea it would be the radio ROM. try the t-mobile 2.19 uk rom.. it works best (in my experiences). give it a try.. you can find the link in the wizard wiki.. good luck
.:Nstefanelli:.
PS.. even if you don't.. give it a try anyway

Will give it a try thanks..
sorry i forgot to say, its a t-mobile rom.. im in canada so my service is from fido..
i'll post back with 2.19 results

Alrite, updated or sould i say downgraded to 2.19 radio.. It seems better, but i figured out why i still get low signal now, my back plate (which has the camera lesn on it) also acts like an antenna, and the clips have broken off on my plate so it is siting lose thus not making proper contact with the antenna pins.
Radio did help imporve signal a little, i just have to find a place to buy that backplate now. Any ideas?

the numbers have no relation to the 'newness' of a radion rom

that's because the little rubber circle, above and slightly to the left of the flash is the antenna.
replacement covers/cases are sometimes on eBay.

Backlight problem

Sorry guys if this is a repost.
I have faria wm6 installed on my wizard. Since past 2-3 days the backlight turns on by itself and then turns off by itself and this is draining the battery like crazy. can any one tell me please, why this is happening and how can i fix this problem.
thanks.
What Radio version are you using? As far as I could tell when I had that problem was that it was being caused by the radio either gaining or losing the signal. I noticed that every time I put my phone in its aluminum case where it almost always loses the signal completely it always turned back on. It would also turn back on again if I went outside and it gained the signal back while it was in its case. When I started using radio version 2.69 though it stopped doing it. It seems to be a problem with every radio version except 2.19 or 2.69.
thanks
Thanks for replying. I have been using radio version 2.19 without any problem. But i can try the other one. Any other suggestion.
yeah, one:
turn off "today timeout" from /settings/today...

No audio after period of no GSM signal?

I am running a ROM based on the HTC Official Wm6.1 (5.2.19212, WWE 3.29.707.0). I noticed this behaviour last week but put it down to a random glitch, however today in the same scenario I have hit the same issue.
I have been working in a basement where there is little or no GSM coverage - GSM icon says 'No service' when clicked. I was working there for a few hours so the Kaiser was like this for the whole time. When I eventually finished and got back above ground the GSM icon registered a few bars and I could make a call. There was no audio though - the screen displayed 'Connected' and adjusting the volume did nothing for the audio of the call. The resolution was to soft-reset the Kaiser and then everything was OK.
I had the same behaviour last week when I was working at the same place, but last week I just thought it was a random glitch, todays repeat makes me think it is something more.
Any ideas?

Radio is 1.65.20.29.....
Plus it is security unlocked and HardSPL'd using HardSPL 3.56 from JockyW
That's a good radio, usually. Maybe reinstall the radio or have you tried other 65 radios?
Maybe this will help, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&as_q=no+audio&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=10&lr=&as_filetype=&ft=i&as_sitesearch=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com&as_qdr=all&as_rights=&as_occt=any&cr=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&safe=images

It's going to be a bit difficult to test as I am not likely to be working there again for a while.....
I'll keep an eye on it and see if it occurs again under any different circumstances.
I did search prior to posting......
Andy
Hmm, it's happened again but different circumstances...
This has just happened again however the circumstances were different. There was no loss of GSM signal, however I did have the GPS & WiFi enabled prior to it failing. I made a call but I didn't hear any ringing, it then said connected but there was no audio. I soft-reset and it is now working again.
I have since enabled WiFi and started TomTom and tested it again and it is working so it doesn't seem consistent.
I upgraded the Radio at the weekend to 1.65.24.36 so this has happened on two different radio versions as well.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Is it possible the Kaiser is faulty? (I don't think so, but you never know?)

there is anohther thread that seems related.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352906
Might prove to be a good place to see if any of your issues are related. Still no fix, unfortunately . . .
I think its related to 3G
I live in area where there is no 3G coverage(ATT sucks!) so I have to turn off 3G functionality in the phone. If I keep 3G mode on then everything works fine but I get the same problem of no audio.
So I suggest try turning off 3G mode when you get this problem and see if this fixed the issue.
Hope that helps,
Regards,
Hardik
I've had this happen twice on AT&T in the last two weeks with official released ROM 1.62.502.0, 1.27.14.09 radio. Both times it happened after I was in an area with sketchy coverage, then returned to good coverage. It was also in a 3G coverage area that would go back and forth between 3G and 2G.
I have a friend who has the same stock ROM and radio, AT&T Tilt phone, who this happens to all the time. He believes it happens when his phone goes to G, and then back to E. Typically that happens if you are close to losing a signal, the phone reverts to GPRS, then bounces back up to EDGE.
I just tried an experiment with some aluminum foil wrapped around the phone to attenuate the signal and bring it back, and couldn't reproduce it. But I don't have 3G here today, so no idea if this is some kind of interaction with 3G.
I don't see any correlation between this and the other thread where the phone ringer is going to zero volume. For me this is complete silence on the call in both directions, even though the phone says connected. When you dial a number, you don't even hear the ringback tone while the phone is ringing on the other end. The other person cannot here you.
One odd thing - I tried to play an MP3 file when the phone was in this state, and heard nothing. I toggled the system volume up and down, to mute, to vibrate, back to full, it didn't make any difference -- still no sound.

Yes, this sounds like exactly the same issue I am seeing. The volume drop to zero is something different - I can move the volume slider up and down when this happens and there is no audio in or out, the only resolution is to soft-reset.
At least it sounds like it isn't a faulty Kaiser
How do you go about raising this as an issue with HTC in an attempt to get them to fix it?
Cheers
Andy
I am also having this loss of sound issue. In a very unscientific test, I seem to have narrowed it down to my use of voice command. By any chance are you using voice command? I turned completely off via the settings and have not had the issue in almost a week. Prior to that it was almost a daily occurrence.
Yes, I have been using MS Voicecommand. Maybe there is a particular build at fault. Last time I had this problem was earlier today, with MS voicecommand 1.6.19209.Bengalih.
I'll try running without Microsoft Voicecommand at all in a fresh ROM for a while, see if that changes anything.
This sounds like the issue discussed here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=392606 - and here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390977 - discussion in both threads have died for there was no solution found yet... I had to switch back to Hermes but still keeping the Tilt in the hope that there will be a solution that will bring it back into the usable state.

Radio / No signal Problem

Hi guys,
My polaris randomly decided to stop recieving a signal the other day,
it still recieves GPRS data, but no GSM signal, no matter which network etc I select. (No Service Icon.)
First I tried different simcards etc in the phone but this didnt work, I then swapped over the board of the phone, thinking this must solve the problem but it hasnt.. (different Rom, Radio aswell)
Same as before the phone recieves a GPRS signal but no gsm signal. Just the exclamation mark next to the signal meter...
I also tried updating both the ROM and radio on the phone, and the board that I swapped in was from another polaris I had with a cracked screen that was working fine before...
( I used, outer casings from the suspected broken radio phone and the board from the cracked screen phone which had no reception problems.)
What could be the problem guys? Which parts of the phone affect the signal???
( The phone is actually an orbit 2, I have had it running for over a year now on the Mamine rom, and unlocked with Olipro and never had a problem, it also doesnt work with an O2 sim incase anyone suggested it was simlocked or something.)
Cheers,
Dan.
bump- please help guys!
were you moving around? could always be a carrier problem....
if gprs is working ok it's doubtful to be radio rom/hardware
Yeah, it is the same everywhere, just the noservice notification.
Other phones work fine, so def a prob with the phone...
Could O2 have locked the phone for some reason?? It was purchased via ebay, could it have been stolen or something? Would it have had 2 have an O2 signal for O2 to block the phone??
Cheers...
I have a same problem. Firstly, when i turn on my HTC TOUCH CRUISE. It says, no network, than after 5mins, it says, no sim card inserted. Can anyone help me what's the problem?
This problem seems to be popping up a bit around the forum...
Is it with O2 Orbit 2's only?? Could O2 have sent something out blocking some of the handsets via the imei or something?
Is there a solution??
Cheers guys,

I also have strange problems. My Cruise dropped on the floor on a skiing trip last March, and since than it has strange network problems.
It mostly says 'No service', but sometimes (randamly) it says something like 'Searching...', 'Denied,Searching...'
I'm not sure if I translated this correctly, I have a Dutch version of the standard 6.1 ROM. I hard reset, re-flashed to original firmware RUU_Polaris_HTC_NLD_3.13.404.0_radio_sign_25.85.30.07_1.59.42.15_Ship.exe
Since this afternoon it is not connecting at all. No reception at all.
My provider is the Dutch one Vodafone (it shoud say '3G Vodafone NL'). Funny is that the those items are unchecked in the network selection (phone --> network --> select networks), but that seems to be the case with other users as well.
Does anyone has a clue?
Greetings,
Murwin.
Same Problem
My Polaris randomly goes offline and gives the ! mark next to the signal meter. I have tried changing Radio ROM and it makes not difference. I think the problem is with the SIM Card reader. I put some sponge tape over the top of the SIM Card reader so it puts even downward pressure on it and the problem is almost fixed. It still randomly goes offline, but only once a day now. If anyone has had any better luck, please post the solution here.
Thanks

HTC One S WiFi Signal reception hardware issue - Resolved

I am not sure how many of you faced poor wifi reception on your HTC One S.
I had very poor reception right from day one. Tried various Stock ROMs, CM10, AOKP, CM10.1 etc.
Searching on google didnt help and all I could get was issues related radio (luckily I never had issues with Cellphone signals) and
some issues were related to Wifi on JB.
I came to the conclusion that my issue was only specific to my hardware.
Wifi signal reception was just one point around 80db or so.
There was no warranty on my phone since it was used T-Mobile purchased in India.
When I almost lost the hope, one fine day googling landed me on a similar issue with our big brother htc one x.
Here is the thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538
When I did the squeeze test on my one s, I could notice improvement in reception. I was so glad to nail down the problem area.
I didnt want to solder my HOS, instead took three threads of copper (from Electric wire) and threaded them together (like "U" as shown in picture)
Placed them at the point of contact (shown as "1" in the picture) so as to make good contact with the back cover (shown as "2")
Just put the cover back, and my wifi reception is awesome now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posting my experience for the benefit of others, if you have similar issue. Just let me know if I have helped you...
thx it worked

Hi
In case you still have you HOS can please make a photo of your 'repair' (meaning the wire placed on the contacts)?
I tried what you said and it didn't work, maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Thanks a lot
OK, this is the only thread on the whole internet that make sense ..tried the hardware fix, soldered the U shaped wire on both ends of antenna metal in phone... didnt work...
trying something else--
is that your IMEI?
No.. The imei is fine and 3g is working great.. It seems some problem with WiFi partition or radio... I will try flashing both AMS confirm
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
THANKS!!!
I tried everything on this thread: androidcentral dot com about "htc-one-wifi-problem-connecting" (google it - this forum won't let me post a link)
and then some...
I stripped some 20 gauge speaker wire and made the U shape. No soldier either. Works great. Thought I might have to tape the cover on since it popped off a couple times the first couple days, but it's seating fine, now.
THANKS!!!
Use WiFi Analyzer (free app) to check your signal with the squeeze test to avoid what happened to munnibhai (and the thread above might be useful if it isn't a hardware issue).
Worked for me as well. More of a mini-pancake shape of fine copper wires worked best for me.

I don't have the back of my phone anymore. I needed a new phone and when I got it it was missing the back to the top. Is there any other way to boost the wifi signal? I literally have to sit in front of the router to catch a signal it is extremely frustrating. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

[Q] Complete lack of GSM signal - hardware failed?

One S S4
Hboot 2.15
Radio 1.20
TWRP 2.8.6.4
CM12.1
This was the last working config my phone had before this problem... I tried one night to clean flash a new version of Cm12.1, without noticing that I had ran out of battery juice. Flash failed and phone closed midway through, charged it and rebooted. At first it wouldn't start in recovery, so I flashed recovery again in fastboot. Then managed to flash CM12.1 only to see that it didn't had any GSM signal. During all these operations phone heated as crazy.
Restored to stock using RUU, flashed different radios and roms since then, from ICS with earliest radio to Miui, CM12, Sense 6 etc with latest 1.35, went to hboot 2.16 and back, tried all possible combinations but signal haven't worked since.
Only on some ICS Vodafone RUU plus 1.08 radio I had some rays of hope, GSM signal was working for about 10 sec. after reboot or airplane mode but then nothing. Also, if I could establish a phone call, signal wouldn't drop during, I could speak for minutes without problems.
Could it be maybe nand corruption, some onboard chip failing due to overheating, antenna cable connections loose etc?
PS. Network - Vodafone Romania, SIM is working fine in all other phones I have at my disposal, other Vodafone sims are not working also in my One S. Don't have any other network microsim to try.
I'd check the top back cover and make sure it's in place and that contacts are clean. It really looks like an hardware problem.
An RUU should have fixed the matter.
Phone has been disassembled and cleaned, antenna cable reseated, all contacts sandpapered a bit with the finest grit paper, then cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, contact springs retensioned. I think maybe some issues with mainboard chips or traces...
PS. GSM antenna is actually under the bottom back cover, top one has antennas for wifi, BT, GPS, which are working fine.
From Anandtech review, il looks like you're right. GSM antenna is at the bottom. Did you solve your problem?
Unfortunately, no... waiting for a microsim from a different operator to arrive to test.
MicroSIM from another operator arrived, same issue, can't get any signal whatsoever. Searching for another faulty One S (maybe broken screen), because I can't afford a new phone right now...
