How do i skin psshutxp? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

i'm using edhaas's fully loaded rom and it has psshutxp included in the rom. i found a skin that i would like to use and would like to know where the files are that i need to replace and what they are called?

can anyone please help me? i have everything else on my mda customized and i would really like to skin that program too.

Use Wisbar Advanced to skin psshutxp ... I don't know where to save them too or I would do it too, I have a couple nice ones, but don't know where to save them.

So does anyone know where we save the psshutxp skins?

After the initial install of psShutXP, create a folder on your storage card called "psShutXP Skins" Download your skin file folders to there.
When you want to change the skin, open the file folder of the skin you want to use. Copy and paste those files into the \Program Files\psShutXP folder and soft reset.

Thanks Newbie! always a fountain of info you are.

Think nothing of it . . . I never could stand to see "grown men" beg. . .

ha! I am having a problem though, I did like you said, installed pSShutXP, copied the skins I want into the programs/psshutxp folder.. but they don't show up, it still uses the default skin.

Hi, Copy the skin into the \windows directory and it will work.

Nope, that didn't work either... I don't get it.. these are QVGA skins for PSSHUTXP ..

I just copied the files psshutxp_skin.gif and psshutxp_skin_eng.gif from the following .zip (from their site) into the windows directory, and the new skin was applied automatically. You could try a soft-reset, but I didn't need it in my case.
Good luck!

See, that one worked.. but the Alienware one I have didn't work even if I renamed them the same thing.. I tap on the alienware one and I can see it when it open, but PSSHUTXP wont apply it for some reason

Sounds like a problem with the skin. Might let them know...
Good luck!

Need info on how to modify CommManager

Im looking for any information you can provide on how to modify the graphics for the CommManager. Anyone able to link would definately be my hero. LOL. Thanks in advance.
The way I did it was I copied all the image files from the windows folder on my phone over to my computer and then went through them and found the ones that belonged to the commanager and then modified them to the way I wanted them to look and then put them back to replace the old ones. Hopefully you're good at graphics because it took me a few days to redo mine since I kind of suck at it.

Can you post a pic of yours for us
If possible, can you tell us the name of the file you modified....thanks
For the 8, 9, and 10 button touch style commManager from the Kaiser that I've been using, the Background is BG.png and L_BG.png .
Looking at packages for the standard Wizard commManager, it looks like the graphics are in the Res DLL file. You can use the ResHacker tool in the Core Kitchen to view and edit this (in theory).
When i go through the rom i find no images for the CommManager, when i open the CommManager dll There are resources in there, but When i try to replace those, I get an error about it not being signed.
So what do we do here, is there any registry key like with the phone dialer that can tell it where to get the graphics?
In the HyperCore Kitchen there is a signer program and some files for it. I haven't figured that part out myself yet, but maybe ask anichillus for the steps.

It's easy , just start the signer ...and it will guide you. I had a tutorial on my website...but....my favorite saying in English : "$#it happens"
For a good resource tool, i recommend Restorator 2007....but it's not free

The one I changed was the 8 button commanager that mfrazzz used in XM6 the first edition (the gray gradient touch looking one) and all of the images were in the in the windows folder. The names of them were 0_on, 1_on ..., 0_off, 1_off..., 0_dis, 1_dis ..., 0_dn, 1_dn..., L_8_dn, L_4_dn etc, etc. Unfortunately I haven't used that commanager since I had XM6 on my phone and I didn't get a screenshot of it, but here's a couple of buttons that I made for it (I made 2 different versions, one black and one with a green - black gradient).
I just checked and I installed the 10 button black commanager on my newest ROM and all of the image files for it are also in the windows folder. - nevermind, I forgot that when I cooked this ROM it actually had a 10 button version of the same commanger that I mentioned above and I installed the 10 button black one later. The images that I saw listed in the windows folder were the ones for the one that was on there first.
I guess if you want to edit a commanager that you don't have to edit a .dll file to change then use that one.

XDA Magician Phone Dialer skin (Vista look)

hi all,
i'm recently very much into the iphone look on the magician, but i couldn't get a nice dialer skin...
i checked some sites and came up with "xdaskinchooser"
it has very lousy and bad skins, but it's a good way to replace everything
i also made my own skin
i added both files to the post
have fun with it!!
1. install xdaskinchooser to your ppc
2. delete all skins you don't like (program files/xda skin chooser/skins)
3. copy the folder "vista skin" to the skins folder
4. start xda skin chooser and choose the vista skin
good luck!!
please leave feedback if you like it!!
screenshot:
very nice thanks! but pressing button not change?!?
i know, but i can't find the file that does the blue pressings..
if you know wich file that is, i'll change it..

Animated Flash Themes 2007 Really Awesome !!!!

These themes are breathtaking. Very good. Found em on the net. Thought I'd Share.
You need Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 -- v7.0 will Not Work!
Run the .exe file from your computer while Activesynced to your phone. Then copy and paste the remaining .tsk files to your windows folder thru Activesync. Open Today screen settings and check them all out. Really Professionally done.
Total of 9 Themes -- They'll all show up in your Today Screen Settings.
They work great on the T-Mobile Wing but should work fine on most other Pocket PC Phones.
Enjoy !!!!
It didn't seem to work on the Cingular 8525 with WM5. I haven't gotten up enough courage to start upgrading.
Works great on my wizard.
Thanks
how can you make it visible on the hole screen instead of only the lower part of screen??
Cheers, Steven

Just go to settings/today screen. They should all be there. Click on the one you want and it will change for you. there are some really nice ones. Just make sure you put all the .tsk files in the windows folder on the phone. Reboot.

Oh I think I know what you mean. If you move the program up in Today settings it will animate the top. On bottom it will animate bottom. The other half it reserves for Date, Clock or other plug ins you have on the Today screen.
hi guys.
anyone knows a good site to download some other good backgrounds this program compatible?
tnx

I would if I had it. All I've got is the .exe file. Got it off Macromedia's web site. If some can extract the cab and post it, it would be helpful.
I own a At&t Tilt and it works great thank you......is there any database for more tsk. files or to create them
Works great on my HTC P4350. Nice themes. Thanks for sharing. Here's the cab for FP6.

work fully?? Please note, skins for individual applications are different from themes for the phone..
If you want a theme for the phone:
1) Download using Google, and you will see lot of free theme sites likePocket PC Themes , PPC Gallery etc...
2) Copy the .tsk file to your PDA (my documents or wherever...)
3) Navigate to start>settings>personal>today Click on today and you'll see select a theme for your device: select the theme you downloaded and click OK and enjoy your theme...
NOTE: when you download a theme, make sure it matches your screen size (VGA, QVGA, etc...)
I have a Orange M600 Spv and when i go in settings there is no personal folder

When you click on settings it will display three tabs at the bottom of the screen "Personal" - "System -"Connections"
within the personal tab there is an icon which looks like a house its called Today.
1) Click on Today and it will give you a list of themes available on your system select what u need and you are done. Again please note through this you can only see the themes for your phone and not your applications.
Cheers

[Q] Windows XP Theme w|q|wq|Vga

i want to try to make a windows xp theme for 6.5.X.
i thought, that would be cool, because the start button is on the lower taskbar..
i have a strong opinion of how it will look like, but i don´t know anything about creating themes for windows phone..
what programs can i use for creating this? i have read about microsoft custom theme creator, but when i load it, it says: there aren´t any windows phone 6.5 pro devices for your locale...
and i can´t load it..
what do all the others use for creating themes???
after i made 1 version for VGA, i will try to create all the other versions!
thanks, Downlord
You should first find all the files that you want to skin and then use a program like GIMP to mod or create your the files for your theme.
I think it's a great idea, too bad you are a bit late Check this http://ip208-100-42-21.static.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7848598&postcount=2
hm, looks cool, i didn´t knew it, ill try it!
but i thought of something thats really a theme for 6.5.X, and i want to know in general, with which program i can make those themes..

/windows on your phone .
The easiest way is to download someone else's theme and see what files they skinned. You can then modify those ones or find the stock ones in your kitchen ( or /windows on your phone). You can edit manila graphics with cfcgui by Chainfire. Some things are just png's/bmp's/etc. for windows tsk's, but you also control some system colors in the registry (changed when you change a tsk).
You should really change your title to Question??? or something. Right now it looks like you make a theme for every device (except maybe hvga), and it sounds like you have a while before it will be complete.
waiting for qvga
how can i change it to a question??
