WM6 and WM5 themes.. Not Working

Hi guys,
I flashed to the new WM6 ROM, looks gr8, but when I try to change the theme (.tsk) to other themes that I used to have on WM5, the background image does not update...
so is WM6 incompatible with WM5 themes??? I did not install any version of XButton in my ROM...
Whenever I update my theme, I get the HTC default background image but theme colors update correctly...
what is this? any solution?

I have exactly the same problem and anybody knows how can i fix it but i hope that the people of xda can help us

if the background dos not change maby you have to change to a difrent rom (i recomend XDA2a)

I will try this, but switching to a different rom is not that easy, I spent much time personalizing things on my PPC.. I will be sad if that would be the only solution

Then turn it on.

Did you try installing your .tsk files to the root of your SD card instead of to the windows folder?

Yes I did, but the same... no luck

its a known bug that any .tsk that you import wont work, i might be wrong .

What do you mean? I have nearly 250 .tsk files on mine (don't ask, when I get bored I make about 5 new ones, and I get bored a lot) and every one of them work.

edit: just tested the theme from pocketpctheme.com n it doesntt work. Color changes of task bar n start bar but background pic never changes wonder why. that is the only prob I have

Guys, there must be a solution... I really hate the incompatiblity feature for every M$ product

Okay, I'm having problems tracking down which process is X-Button to kill it - what's the process name?

Ok i turned of X-Button and restarted my wiz, and then i changed the theme, nothing happened. I don't understand when i load the cab it doesn't extract properly or what.... the start menu that pops down when you click on start seems to get the theme loaded right but the background picture it loads to Default black. i dont understand what is blocking it....

are you trying to be funny? if yes i dont find anything funny to laugh about.... all i want to say is "if you cant help dont bother posting because you are just messing up the thread with bloat full of junk"

This is a known problem when using X-button. Either find the latest version of X-button (1.51 or something similar). Or go to start>settings>system>X-button and uncheck the boxes that says "enable X-button to end programs..."
If you do not have X-button installed, Then try changing your theme, waiting a few minutes and then soft-reset.

Nothin was right about themegence being the best freeware theme maker. I've used it to make every one of mine. If you go to MoDaCo to the Pocket PC Today Screens QVGA in the downloads section I have 30 or 40 of them in there that I've made. I'm going to have to check out where you guys are downloading yours from and see if I can figure out why they aren't working. Usually, at least the ones I've seen, you don't install them from a cab file. They're usually just zipped or a straight tsk file that you put straight in to either the windows folder or in the root folder of you sd card.

Well, I figured that out pretty quick. If you guys are all downloading them from pocketpcthemes.com, they are not working because the wallpaper part of it is not in the right format to fit a wizard. The images are too big so it's not using them, instead it's using the default wallpaper instead. Try downloading from the MoDaCo downloads section that I mentioned in the post just above this one, they should all work. I know that the one's that I made and mandt made will work for sure. I'll try uploading a bunch more there within the next day or 2 also. If there's any at that pocketpcthemes site that you really have to have, I could probably fix a few of them so they will work if you let me know which ones they are.

edit: I downloaded the themes from modaco, n they all work great. even w/ x-button. omg u r best xeno. but tell us wut u use to make theme so we can make too.

now what is the difference between PocketPCThemes tsk files and ModaCo tsk files?

It looks like you can only get an Iphone theme on a PPC, not a smartphone.

Thats not true. I had the I-Phone theme on my Excalibur.

Can't you explain how to install this theme. A can understand anything from a read.me file.
The ReadMe.txt file says next:

Possible ROM Emulation Program out there for Theme Building?

I am wondering if there is something out there to allow me to basically Cook a rom but at the same time build the Look and layout of the screens with images and other files rather than the Stock Diamond ROMs and other floating around. I have a Vista Theme that I have been building for it seems about 10-12 hours so far within the last couple days but building it on the PC for quicker work rather than phone and then somehow load it on the Kaiser would be awesome.
I hope that is somewhat clear.
Any help would be great. thanks

what he wants is rom emulation on his desktop so he can build themes without having to load the theme on his phone first which my inlude flashing a new rom so it takes him a lot of time he needs a good theme manager or WM6.1 emulation

Haha I knew it wasnt too clear.
Ok basically I want to be able to Cook a ROM, and Customize the Screen layouts with different images and files rather than having to customize it all on the phone as it can be quite slow. I would like to have a program that you can keep the image files all on your computer and build on it in some sort of GUI or something then be able to flash the Custom ROM with all the Files and Layouts already built.
Any better?

You are the MAN!!! Thanks for helping out bud. I really appreciate it. Thats exactly what I am looking for. I used to do it with old Motorola's and was hoping there was something like that for the HTC.

If thats what it takes to build a Theme on the PC and then load it to the Kaiser then yes haha.
Will MyMobiler allow me to get into Files and Folder on the Kaiser? Would it be Real Time Building or could I build the Theme with all the necessary files and then Load/Flash it to the Kaiser?

I just read a little on that and see you can load themes but will it allow me to fully build a Theme and load it on there?

Are the above my best options as i see that Mobiano doesnt allow me to build Themes only transfer existing ones.

Have you tried the SDK kit for visual studio, alternately try ThemegenCE you can build you theme and see what youre doing as you go along, this is what i use. Hope it helps.

bare with me here...

Im coming over from all shadow, and i updated my 6.0 rom to the MyHTC rom, so i could try the M2D and all the skins available here. heres my problem, i downloaded the skins and installed them on my phone [shadow] but nothings showing up. can anyone give me some insight on what to do, please? im a little new here, so forgive me if i posted in the wrong forum or i didnt do a search on this problem. it seems like theres tons of people here, hopefully i can get a quick, definitive answer..

actually i dont know how M2D works on non touch screen..
but i think, when we installed M2D manually, it eat our device memory. and certain device will not works i guess..that y im looking ROM with M2D built in..

it works on the shadow, but i just dont know what to do... i tried the M2DC and it didnt do anything, is there something im supposed to do with it, besides run the cab?

we can customize all buttom, font, and change skin more easierly...so when u want to change to another skin, just add skin into in.use skin with m2dc format.theres plenty out there..i think that page will give more infos..

so all i have to do is download the skins and run them on the phone? skin with m2dc formats, you mean there are skins are M2DC instead of just M2D that i should run?

Chome visual editor only is for edit , search and use this , i used this for my works

I want to edit things like scrollbars, highlights, softkey backgrounds. This doesn't seem to do it.

Find a WM6.5.X theme file. Rename to *.cab. Extract reg, and use that as your base. Prefer classicblue myself. Now get a pic you want, convert to your resolutions, create a cab with it, and insert reg!
EDIT: If you search using the link in my sign, you will find the answers. It has been discussed in detail before.

I just figured it out that tsk files are actually cabs as you posted this! Wow, in all my years with Windows Mobile I never knew that!

How to "extract reg"??

It doesn't work properly for WM6.5.x.
Use WinCE CAB Manager to open the CAB of any theme you like and replace the graphic files with your own. You can also edit the TSK, if you want. Just learn by doing, I figured it this way as well .
