hi all, im a noob here and was looking at all the iphone stuff and want to change my cell (gigabyte gsmart i) in to the iphone. ive tried all things but i have no luck. has anyone made a simple cab file to install it??
thanks in advance.
is the seach button that hard to use?
i cant give you a link as copy + paste dont work on my laptop
ive been looking for 2 days now and i've had no luck.
Here's how to search
Lesson in Searching 101
In the top bar of the forums -- underneath your username -- there's a word called "Search" with an arrow next to it. Tap the arrow. In the blank field, type "iPhone" and select "ShowThreads" and then tap "Go".
Now you'll get a return of NOT LESS THAN a dozen threads about iPhone files that you can read and find links and downloads to use to your heart's content.
i did that and i havnt seen a cab file for it all and ive been trying to get this thing to work for days and i just cant get it right
sigh.
i did a search and it came up with a page with iphone topics. one thread....or was that two... details the iphone package which you'll need to make your phone look like an iphone's interface. to answer your question (and guyz, do feel free to correct me on this), there is no "one cab file" which will turn your phone's interface into the iphone's. the package consists of several installers, some cab files, etc which you need to install one by one. example, you need to install the theme which goes with wisbar...this is for the today screen. you also need to install an app like claunch which will then allow you to post the icons used by the iphone....and those you also need to install.
as newbie2 stated, it's right there. you can't miss it.
Here you should find what you want

Hiding Sim-Contacts
Hello
I try to translate from my German Vox.
First you go to the settings.
Select the telefonsettings.
Tene select Callingoptions or Calloptions ( German : Anrufotionen )
There you can see "show Sim-Contacts".
I hope in Eu-Versions it is the same and my english is not tooooo bad.
THANK YOU!
IT WORKED!!!!!
Now can you solve the solution why this thing LAGS and is SO SLOW?!?!
I dont know if comming from a tytn makes it seem like this, but to me this device it wayyyyy tooooo slowwww
the CPU is hardly worthy of WM6
use Omapclock and speed it up
i run 252mhz and it's more than enough for me
im tryin to do that now but it doesnt seem to work on resume!
i installed omap clock plus as well.... whenever the phone comes out of hibernate, the clock is set back to origional speed.
do you know how to fix this ??????
what version of omapclock are you using?
Thanks for that tip about contacts, dietmarr
BTW, i did get a pouch with my Vox!!
Regarding overclocking, JDRoss over at MoDaCo posted the below tip. Works like a charm!
Here's what you need:
omapclock application (available here)
tornado power control application (available here)
Download the CAB files for each and install like you would any application. That means copying them to your S710 via bluetooth or ActiveSync, and then running them on your phone to start the application setup process.
Now you need to link the two together. How? Well, the nature of the tornado control application is to launch files based on internal phone events. In this situation, the way to do this is to create "link" filetypes that instantiate omapclock with command line variables to set the appropriate CPU speed.
As a result, you need to create 3 link-type files (.lnk) in the same directory as the tornado application on your S710:
(the first line is the file name, and the 2nd line is exactly what I typed in notepad on my PC before saving the file as a .lnk file):
Power_On.lnk
40#"\Program Files\TornadoPowerControl\OmapClock.exe" -clock 252
Power_Backlightoff.lnk
40#"\Program Files\TornadoPowerControl\OmapClock.exe" -clock 186
Power_UserIdel.lnk
40#"\Program Files\TornadoPowerControl\OmapClock.exe" -clock 186
Once these .lnk files are saved on your PC, you can use ActiveSync or bluetooth to move the files to the \Program Files\TornadoPowerControl directory. Once there, you're almost ready to go...
You also need to create a link file type (I call the file TPC.lnk) and put it in the windows/startup folder so that Tornado Power Control loads automatically upon boot.
Here is my TPC.lnk file contents:
43#"\Program Files\load.exe" -hide "\Program Files\TornadoPowerControl\TornadoPowerControl.exe" bright hide
Note that I'm using a program called "load.exe" (available here) that I simply copied to my /program files/ folder - this is optional, but it makes TPC application run in the background and not show up in task manager (which makes the overclocking even more invisible to the user). Actually, this doesn't always work (since I sometimes see Tornado in task manager), but it's still a nice concept.
Hope this helps.

OK so if I posted something that is on here I'm gonna be pissed cause I've been looking for hours!!! So the bottom line is that I bypassed the bloatware on my fuze. It sure as heck helps but there are certain programms/apps that I want to download back on such as x-press mail, opera, etc..... Does anyone have a link, list, or any helpfull hints as to sort out what means what in the windows folder of the device? I'm no programmer but have a very good concept of how to install them and that stuff but I can't for the life of me figure out what all that stuff means!!! I really appreceiate any help from anyone. I think what you guys do here is absolutely amazing. If I double posted I am very sorry and will can this thread ASAP if that is the case. Cheers!
I'm not amazing, lol, but download total commander and open \windows. Order everything by file extension, and scroll down to the cab files. Install ms. pacman. Then say "screw it," and flash energy rom.
Thank you for the reply. I would prefer to keep the stock ROM at this point. You know if there is anything or anyone that would have a list of the files in the windows folder and what they mean? God I hope I'm making sense....
*Double Post*
Just organize \windows by file extension (either with Total Commander or Active Sync) and look at all the cabs. There may be a few you want to install, like manila. There will be many that are total crap, like the games. You may want to look up a cab for a stock HTC manila. It won't have all of the ATT crap on it and will be more pleasant to use. If you don't know what a cab does, copy it to your desktop and analyze it with Wince Cab Analyzer (search for MSCEInf.exe). Or, if you have sk tools, use the CAB manager to look into the cabs and figure out what they are.
http://filext.com/
this site tell you what the various extentions mean
it's not just for pc's and in many cases pc extentions
and pda extentions mean the same thing like
.txt and .jpg dll exe ....
Ok Great! I get the whole Cab thing and stuff I just needed to know what it meant. You know how these things are.... you load em up with some stuff and sometimes it doesn't work the way it was intended. So my plan is to hard reset to clear everything then start all over. Done it before but there are certain things you want and need loaded. TF3D, Manilla, Microsoft security, opera ( Cough, if you want it) etc....... Once again, you all have been a great help. I appreceiate the lack of criticisim for me being a new guy compared to most of ya. Not often you can find good help without catchin flak for it. If you have any suggestions for a guy like me that helps improve the performance/ability of my fuze that would be awesome. Thanks again!!!
Hi all,
I previously had a Hermes where there was a little tool to change the soft-keys at the coners of the screen to to applications of your choice.
Either I did not look to find the tool in the Raphael or it does not exist in the HTC standard ROM. Is there any tool to use for changein the soft-keys?
Thanks for support.
Best Regards
Rolf

put this fil in ur windows folder and voila...
in settings u can change the softkeys
Thanks, it works as expected until TouchFlo ist started . When TouchFlo is running, the keys automatically swich to left: Telephone, right: programms. I dont find a way to change that. Any suggestions?
Best Regards
Rolf
This is what I, found it in the diamond forum.
just change hklm\software\htc\manila its not hard. homelsk options for the left softkey and homersk for the right. path and text.
Hi Jack,
thanks, the solution works , even with touch-flo. I could put the calendar as soft key. Do You know the name of the file where the contats are stored?
Best Regards
Rolf
dont trust me too hard on this im doing it from memory, but... set your path to "\Windows\poutlook.exe" and your argument to "contacts". without quotes on both of course.
Hi Jack,
thanks, I will try this tomorrow, today I forgot my mobile in the office :-(.
Result: I tried it and nothing happened, no contacts shoowing up or any error-msg. So it should be an other file I guess. Do you have any idea?
Best regards
Rolf
i was wondering why that wouldnt work and i tried it on mine and it does. you can check your spelling for any typos or whatever but it should work. no quotes, no caps on contacts, \'s not /'s. hope you can get it working.
If you install the cab i posted you dont need to edit the registry, just select the app you want the link on the soft key to be and click save.
alot of people like to do it themselvs or dont like extra apps. ill check it out and see what it does later.
Hi,
so I tried again the manila cab that was postet above. Well, it works fine, I just cannot find the "contacts" in there which I like to set as left soft-key. The "calendar" setting works fine either as direct setting in the HKLM or using the cab.
I also tried again to start the poutlook.exe directly out of the file-explorer and in contrast to the start of the calendar, nothing happened. So it must be any other file to start ???
Also I tried to link the "kontakte" (a small link-file) directly in HKLM, but got an error-msg telling me that the file does not have the required security-attributes or whatsoever.
I will keep on searching but happy for any adviece.
Berst Regards
Rolf
hi there i've installed some games onto my HD2 (uno, FM, tonyhawks) and want to locate them in the games folder not in the main windows area. can anyone help me do this?
open file explorer. browse to windows/startmenu/programs.....look for ur games shortcuts......cut..... nd paste in windows/startmenu/programs/games. done
You're not done at all.
OK, it will move the shortcut to the correct folder, but the icon won't follow. It's defined in the registry ([HKLM\Security\Shell\Startinfo\Start] then the folder name, then the shortcut name, string value "Icon").
People making CABs should be a bit less lousy and direct shortcuts to the correct folder, same for the acompanying icon.
Actually, some people put icon definitions into several registry keys, so they will "follow" the shortcut if you move it. It's actually a satisfying alternative, if you consider it gives the user the ability to put the shortcut wherever he wants (including copying it to several locations) without losing the icon.
But yes, having shortcuts piling up into the Start Menu's first level, or even worse, placing them into dummy folders with a fixed name (sometimes in a foreign language), is pig work, and I saw even worse (yes, it's possible !) : shortcuts landing to a foreign language "Programs" or even "Start menu" folder, so actually not even displaying in the Start Menu !
When you create (or modify) a CAB file, you should heavily use aliases in order to let Windows Mobile translate them to the actual names during installation.
For instance, if you wanted to direct a shortcut to the "Games" folder, whatever its actual name in your own language is, you should NOT put it into "\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\Games" (neither into "%StartMenu_Programs%\Games", though it's still better like that), but you should actually use "%StartMenu_Programs_Games%", which will put the shortcut in the exact correct location.
You can do the same for the program's location itself. For instance, %ProgramFiles_Games% will direct it to the correct folder, according to your system's language, and will even do so, either you choose to install it on the internal memory, or on the SD card.
You can use these aliases inside registry values, too.
Unfortunately, this process may sometimes do it "too much".
It's the case on cooked ROMs, where the author may retain WWE names for some folders and translate others, sometimes using his own syntax. Since the CAB will always translate using the official way, it may still land in an incorrect location...
The ony way to be sure you'll obtain the wanted result, anyway, is to get some CAB editor program and peek inside before copying them to the pocket PC and installing them... And maybe, fix them before using them.
It will be handy each time you'll need to reinstal it, so don't mind inspecting and fixing the CABs you find : it's always better than crashing your system because something wrong or inadequate to your setup was put inside.
One classic case is TouchFlo / Sense tabs, for instance.
Unfortunately, they're all defined inside a unique XML Manila file, so you actually can't just ADD a tab : in fact, this notion does not even exist ; all you can do is overwrite your whole tabs list with another complete one, and pray that you'll end up with the same list, plus the new one... Would you bet your life on that ? I won't.
In real life, you really can NEVER trust a CAB intended to add a tab to your existing setup, as the author most probably don't have the same tabs as you have. In the best case, you'll just loose some tabs (they'll just disappear, even in the tabs list from the settings, and you won't get them back) : the programs and files are still there, but their definition file will have been replaced by the new one. And in the worst case, it will add a definition for a tab whose programs and files are not previously installed on your phone - and you'll crash it once and for all.
That's the reason why now, I never give a tab CAB containing any tabs definitions. I only provide all but the tabs list, and provide separate CABs for all the possible tabs combinations - and you have to choose and use the good one. Or use Maltwater's SenseUtil program to setup your tabs. The good news is my method will setup all the tabs in perfect order as soon as you've soft resetted the device, since my CABs contain the XML file, plus all the registry keys, plus it resets ManiFull.xml.
So, people, whatever I said about good CABs putting the shortcuts where they should... OK, you may be lucky... But the right behaviour should always be to look inside CABs before trying them. You can trust me !
i'm new coming nice to know all

It's been a while since I had the need to move icons, so there may be newer versions of this program, but the JWMDIconChanger will move the icons for you.
When I sync a contact with my facebook account, it downloads a picture from facebook (if i choose that). This is a great functionality, however, it overlays a facebook icon in the bottom left of the contact picture. Is there any way to remove the facebook icon?
Since Windows\FBContacts has the picture without the icon, it must be sense that adds them. Also, SPB Mobile Shell doesn't have the icon.
I scoured the registry and found basically nothing:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCMsgEnhance\SupportFacebookIcon
and
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCMsgEnhance\UseContactAgent
I thought disabling this would help, but it doesn't.
Also, sorry if this has been posted somewhere, i searched but hits for facebook were too many.
Thanks in advance.
I'm sad to say that this little icon is hidden somewhere within the Sense Code, not in the registry.
It may be possible to remove it, but I am no HTC Sense Developer, though there are plenty of them here.
I'd suggest PM'ing meltwater, in my personal opinion, and be sure to tell him that I directed you to him.
that's uncool. But thanks for the info.
I'll just pm him with a link too this thread.

Zach is right, it is the sense code which overlays the icon, you can see it happening quite often on the facebook tab.
By the way, the pictures are stored \windows\FBContacts, as it happens working with them at the moment. There's two keys which refer to this location, but interested if they would move the location for fb, not had chance to test.
Back to topic, the overlay will occur in many many places in the sense code, and no reg key is checked in the code (at least not in the sections I've seen) so removing would be a pain. HOWEVER...if you find the icon file used, you can replace it with a totally transparent one and that should do it.
Using the manila kitchen and the m9editor you can browse all the xxxxxxxx_manila files and see all the image files (QTC).
3c71439c_manila icon_facebook_indicator.qtc <-my best guess
66c2d17a_manila icon_facebook_indicator.qtc <-my best guess
5cdf5850_manila facebook_icon_small.qtc <-maybe
0c6d0e94_manila icon_holder.qtc appears to be transparent, might work if you replace the fb icon with that (just copy and rename).
It should work in theory. Have fun!
So, here's a simple solution:
1.) Start Menu
2.) File Explorer
3.) Windows
4.) FBContacts
5.) Copy ALL of the pictures
6.) Paste pictures in another location
7.) Manually set the Contact Pics with the recently moved images
The icon will no longer be visible.
[Yes this is a tedious method, and may take some time to set all of the Contact Pics manually, but hey, the Facebook Icon is gone! ]
Thanks to both of you.
However im not going to use method 2, as it takes way too long.
I'm also new to Cooking, since i got my hd2 a few weeks ago.
Is there a FAQ/Newbies thread i could refer to? Or if not do you think you could post up a 5 minute summary of how to do stuff? i can figure things out pretty quickly but i need some guidelines (is the kitchen a PC app? If so , and i export my ROM, i have to flash it, loosing all my contacts etc?)

Have a look through my tutorials may give you a clue.
But you should just be able to replace the files in your windows dir as mentioned (enable your file manager to see system/hidden files). The manila kitchen and the m9editor are the tools I use to look at the files and to find the icons you needed, so hopefully you won't need to do that now.
EDIT: I'm guessing that worked...
Another facebook icon files
I've found another png files in windows directory, which include facebook icons:

FB_Icon_S.png
These files are marked as Read Only and ROM so I can't change or remove them... Using HD2, ROM Elegancia v9.0 WWE

I'm guessing those files are used by the Microsoft facebook application, sense doesn't often refer to png files directly.
The above files are the most likely ones, since surgency didn't ask for more help, I'm guessing they were the files required.
