Anyone got any normal, telephone sounding, non-embarrasing ringtones? Need something that sounds a little more professional than my current one
What do others use?
Thanks
any wav, mp3, wma or midi you can find online would work
or you can record another phone rining using your pda or pc
or sing a rind tone yourself
google finds all
I use the Old Phone ringtone. It's included on the device.
Attached is the "Bronze" and "Steel" ringtone from the B&O phone, I use "Bronze" for SMS and it is very discreet and professional sounding, but my ringtone at the moment is this:

OMG, that banana rules!!! of course i know that animated cursor it's made of, but still, thats just f...ng LOL. thanks ;]
i use spb phone suite and when i'm dealing with something "professional" i switch to a profile which has the old phone ringtone.

you got anymore B&O ringtones?
As I understand it, those are the only two tones it has. Someone else in another post extracted them from the website, which only features those two.
Edit: Sorry to pollute the thread, but Family Guy afficionados may also appreciate these little offerings (also great for SMS).
Thanks for everyones posts, but I'm still none the wiser! (even after spending over an hour googling for ringtones...)
Surely people out there must have a decent, 'phone' sounding ringtone that they use when Family Guy etc wouldn't go down too well?
Perhaps I have spotted a gap in the market.....www.business-ringtones.com .... www.boring-ringtones.com ..... etc
with a quick search with this

if non of these hits or others from the google search helps you
i sugest you specify what you are looking for
because i sure never heard a ring tone that made me go
"damm that sounded like a business and or boring phone rining"
....
Damn, none of those sounded like a business ringtone.... only joking!!
Thanks mate, will take a look....but don't you just hate it when people find things instantly on Google, after you've spent ages looking?!?!
I'm still starting www.boring-ringtones.com BTW...gonna have some reeeeeal boring ringtones on there.
I use the CTU ring from the show 24 as my ringtone.
Sounds like a phone, but not the same old same old.
How proffffesssionallll do you need?
I dont use ringtone, if you are pro. vibra only!!!
You can create your own ringtones, well they are more like statements as if your phone is speaking to you. Go to AT&T text to speech
http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php#top
type in what you want it to say and chose your dialect, try it out and when your happy with it then download it as a wave file - easy - and free.
Different statements for different profiles, I use Phone Alarm and at 10:00 each night the phone switches into "flight mode" and my XDA Exec say
"Flight Mode has been activated"
www.zedge.com have a voice and effects tool which makes tones and sms for free
Heres a cool idea, which I happen to use. Download a text-to-speech program like coolspeech. Program it to say:
"(Your Name), you have an incoming call".
Save it as a wav and drop it in my ringtones folder. Very simple and professional.
Just had a good laugh on the AT&T site writing stupid messages to have it played back to me....ah well, passed at least 2 mins....
Anyway, back to the point.
Just to briefly specify what I'm looking for (still didn't find it from Google even after your help Rudegar)-
- a telephone sounding ringtone, but not like an old phone with the bells on, just a gentle, not shrill, modern sounding telephone.
Surely there's one somewhere???
download the ringtone here.

simple and sweet
ITS PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!
lol
The Ring-Standard included in WM6 sounds pretty professional and "non-wierd". Might be an easy option if you have WM6.

Last night during a moment of having-to-wait-for-stuff boredom I recorded a voice note. Noticed on the 'right click' that there's a 'save as ringtone' option.
Hehe.
Combining that with one of the little apps that let you assign ringtones to individual contacts that whole thing became rather entertaining.
Just in case you haven't thought of it
Ha ha. Ya I had toyed around with the idea before.
"Yo *****, pick up the phone!"
Quality ringtones in the making...
That makes a nice phone base early warning system: "Don't pick up - it's the boss"
Martin
I record part of a song and assign it as ringtone so is quicker than downloading a mp3 and convert it to a wav file
8)
Can I record my voice on an XDA / XDAII etc and then
1) send it by phone for someone to hear and
2) upload it to my web page so others could run it from the site or download it and listen later, say as an MP3 file?
In essence it would be using it like a ditaphone of old.
Sorry if this has been asked b4, I ran a search but couldn't find it in there.
Thanks all
you could beam the file to the other xdaI/II
guess you could host it if you just got hold of a ftp client you could upload it to what ever
Sorry - I've just realised a part answer to my qs
1. I mean to any phone that could play sound - rather like a mp3 version of a voicemail
2. I can use active sync to drop the file onto my pc and ftp it (as you said) can't I?
cjs
NoteM is the perfect program for your purposes. It records in .mp3 with good quality, then you can send the files by e-mail, or you can use it as a dictaphone. I am using it for some time on my XDA II, replacing the original recording program on the HW button. And it is free! http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?download=626
thanks for the reply - it sounds (no pun intended, honestly) just like what I want. All I now need is to buy an xda. I guess that's a rather important next step!
As an aside, it'll be good to get an xda, I used to use an HP 500 series PDA but passed onto the Psion Revo - b&w screen but the semi-size keyboard made data input sooo much quicker - but the all-in-one-box approach of the xda is drawing me back in that direction.
Also, I want to be able to access web pages 'on the street' and then use the data I've retrieved and that's gotta be easier on the xda than juggling phone + pda and setting up links etc.
Thanks for the post

Of course, there are several other devices on the market that combine phone and Pocket PC, e-mailing, internet, etc. Before you choose, make a survey what fits you the best.
An MDA III Compact device (at T-mobile) has got to the market lately with a sliding keyboard, if screen tapping makes problem to you.
Good luck!
the sliding keyboard does appeal to me. I'm currently with orange for my normal phone and I believe they've launched their version of this xda. I'll check it out
hi everybody sorry for my english , im looking for a program like the one i had on my nokia 6600 its a program that once someone calls us it will start recording ervery thing thas is spokon on thart conversation its for my htc3600 can anyone help me??

I quote from their sales pitch
"Housewives – shopping lists, cooking recipes, time of important TV program and “to-do” list for the day- all this you can keep as voice notes with VITO AudioNotes instead of hundreds of stickers on the fridge. "

Hi guys
I'm searching for some ringtones, mainly for sms (short, a beep or two), which are optimized in term of volume and frequency. We all know that the speaker on the Raphael is very poor, so maybe some of you have a suiteable ringtone that makes me not miss too many sms (like 10 undread today)
If anyone has other suggestion on how to increase the loudness or vibration, please share your knowledge!

try one of these. tho, it might make your dog bark.
what?!!
without a doubt... you have a raphael, so shoot on over to here http://blownfuze.org/index.php#10
My Main Man Doug @ blownfuze.org has customized ringtones to get things noticed.. if you like 24, he has a 24 ringtone.. just check him out, you'll be glad you did.. He's the man
better late than never..
One of my good buddies touts his iphone for all the different apps he can have, and it never bothered me cause we have had them all, mostly for free.
And I respected iphone as a good handheld gaming/multimedia device. But, I had chosen Fuze as I needed a workhorse.
But today I learnt couple of facts about iphone:
1. No calendar based ringtone management aka they cant have their phone go silent on its own during a 'busy' appointment. And if you look at G-profile, I dont have words to describe its advance features!
2. In order to dial someone not on favorites, you need to go into 'all contacts', then locate it the alphabetical list, choose which no to call, and then you finally make the call (8+ taps). In Fuze (or even Nokia's) I just start typing the name of the person, and within 3-4 taps I can connect.
Once again, I felt good to choose a good phone. But I am amazed, that Apple thrives on being so user-friendly, and it lacks such important features!
Fuze Rocks! (especially with custom ROMs)
Ha ha ha...
But it has revolutionary new feautures. Copy files !!! Voice calling !!! Video camera!!! Compass !!!.
I heard that in 2023, iphone (v 2023GSTDSE) will have Video Calls too.
LOL...
