Hi,
When trying to access the Internet from my Universal running Midegt's latest rom I am getting an error: The page you are looking for cannot be found due to unknown error 0x80072f78. This happens when I am connected to my PC using a USB cable. Everything works fine with GPRS. I have tried other roms with the same results. Is there a setting I am missing? I am using active sync 4.5 and not firewall is enabled.
Thanks for your help.
KInd Regards

That's a tiny problem with your computer registry actually.
Just run this file attached and you will be able to surf again immediately after
Thanks a million for your help. Works a treat.
All the best

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks too from Spain
Thank you..........
Thanks much
Thanks a lot!!! After hourrssss of hard resetting...haha
Thank you so much from PANAMA, also like 4 hours breaking my head
Works perfectly! And you don't even have to learn how to use regedit.exe!!!
Thanks a bunch - you're a (compared to me anyway) GENIUS. After messing around with the configurations settings and trying to re-download ActiveSync 4.1 which isn't available anywhere, and aimlessly scrounging around microsoft.com you've delivered the perfect solution.
My rambling's a way of saying - at midnight after a frustrated evening of trying to solve a niggling problem aided by a bottle of wine - thanks very much!!!

don't get the error but ultimately after the device 'locating' for a minute or so, it gives up - "Location not found"
any ideas --- what other Registry seetings, other than [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
might be involved?
many thanks

Any more suggestions?

Never Mind. I forgot, after changing registry settings I needed to reboot my PC. After reboot, I can now "pass thru".

I am trying to download some apps to my Fuze. There are a lot of them that call for the NET compact 3.5. I downloaded the NET. c directly onto my phone but when I went to open and install it said that this is not a program for windows mobile. I'm new to this and would appreciate any help. What do I need to do? I tried installing the NET. c on to my computer but it didn't do anything either. Thank you for your help.

Is it possible that these are installers you're supposed to run from your computer and they finish their install over an activesync connection?
It might help if you let us know which apps you're trying to install and where you got them from (non-pirated of course).
You need the rigth cab http://www.4shared.com/file/70602905/58d46ffa/NETCFv35wmarmv4i.html
Thank you for replying. I tried to do searches but I kept timing out on the xda website (dial-up only in my area), so I looked on the net. All I could find was a download from microsoft. For some reason I am also having trouble with my active sync. The disk that came with my phone says it needs the new adobe flash player which I have but it won't read, it's having problems with vista. So because of these problems I need to download directly to my phone I guess. The download NET c from microsoft was the one that said it wasn't for windows mobile.
I am just trying to load some different apps to my Fuze for more usablility, games like scobble, a ram cleaner things like that. Nothing pirated for sure, but most I find if not all need the new NET to work.
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated, thanks again.
Thanks araponga I will give that a try.
My choices are this:
Sell it for $200
Find a way to tether it...
Tried some of the internet sharing cabs and such I had laying around form other ROMs, nothing worked. I also have a Touch Pro, so this phone really is just a spare, but its almost worthless to me without tethering...
Help me?
I got mine to tether using the QPST tool to change the modem connection username setting from [email protected] to [email protected]
Let me know if you need further instructions.
Cheers
Hmm, I think I already gave up on it, After 4 hours of trying to get it to reliably sync with my two PCs and getting about nowhere, It's getting returned. Pre Or touch pro... hmmm....
PDANET., Google that, i use it.

Cab file
I have a cab file that works great on my Treo 800w if you want to try it.
kaw900r, I'd appreciate that cab if you don't mind...
delete HTC_Guardian.exe in windows and startup, setting your ISP connection and use ICS in Programs.

Hi -- I just downloaded the new version of Bing. I'm running it on an HTC Sedna with Windows Mobile 6.1. It _seems_ to work fine on my phone. Fine except for the fact that within a minute or two I get a message which says "Your device has been identified as not supported for this application," after which Bing shuts down. Any ideas on how to get around this? This software is supposed to work with WM 6.1 phones and it seems to do so until Microsoft pulls the plug!
Thanks, Alan
Are you using a cooked ROM?
I suggest you to install it on a emulator and see what happens
Thanks -- no, I'm using the standard HTC ROM. (I don't even think there ARE any cooked ROMS for this phone!)
I've never dealt with an emulator, so I don't immediately know how to do what you're suggesting, nor do I have a sense of how time consuming that would be. But would it be worthwhile to go down that road? If Bing worked on the emulator, how would that help me figure out how to make it work on my phone?
I wonder if there's a way to tell Bing that I've got a different kind of phone. I suspect that would fix this. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks!
Alan
Ok, but you can share where you got the installation file(just to do a test here).
Thanks.
Yes -- I got it from here:
http://static.appserver.m.bing.net/binaries/winmo/v1/Bing.CAB
I was running the previous version of Bing, and the program sent me to this link to get the updated version (which then gives me errors about my phone not being supported).
Thanks, Alan
Thanks very much, I'm going to test it.
Wait some time...
That's terrific! Thanks so much!

Bing...
Works OK on Diamond 1 with stock 6.1 ROM. Not sure if I like it or not..
Right -- I know it works on other WM 6.1 phones. I'm wondering how to run it on mine. I suspect the solution is to make Bing think I'm using a Diamond or some other phone it knows it's compatible with. Anyone know how to do this? What does it use to figure out what sort of phone I have?
Thanks, Alan
It's working on my emulator.
Have you already tried another version?
I don't really understand what you're asking ... I've run this program on two different (stock WM 6.1) HTC P6500s with the same result: it works fine a little while, then I get a message that I'm not using a supported device and the software shuts down. I don't know how running this on an emulator would help me fix the problem. I know that the software works fine on Diamonds, Touch Pro2, Diamond 2, and other officially-supported WM 6.1 phones. And I know that the software detects my P6500 as not supported and therefore will stop working after a while.
SO: the question is how to get Bing to believe I'm using a phone that it considers supported? I've tried replacing P6500 with T5353 (Touch Diamond 2) in a couple of places in the registry:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ActiveSync\DeviceModel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
But it doesn't seem to make a difference ....
Does anyone have any other ideas about how I might fix this?
Thanks,
Alan
I think that change these registrys:
Code:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ActiveSync\ DeviceModel
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\Post Platform
Isn't a very good thing, because this can turn your device unstable.
PS: I'm going to Google for some solution.
I need one thing to solve your problem as fast as I can. It's the error code.
Thanks.
Thanks so much ... Yeah, I didn't leave those registry changes on long: just a quick experiment.
OK, forgive my ignorance, but how can I find out the error code to tell you?
Thank you!
Alan
Error in images, this is after being cooked in, works for a few min but than get a compatibility error and shuts down
Interesting -- that's a different error than the one I get, though mine generally comes up around the same time. Mine says "Your device has been identified as not supported for this application."
How do we find error codes for these?
Alan
It seems they have the same root, this has been cooked in I was hoping to go "around" the not supportive error that you get with the cab file.
Since I took it out of my build I think the best way will be to run it cooked in an emulator to get it.
Huh, interesting...
I'm going to take a better look on this.

Hi all.
I did something foolish; installed a CAB, restarted the device (6.5.3), and since then I lost access to the Start Menu.
The simple yet long solution would be to reinstall the entire OS from flash (clean boot); but I hope I won't have to go that way. My device was working really good for the past few weeks, and it took me a long time to get it there.
So, is there a way I can access the "Uninstall Programs" shortcut/program without access to the Start Menu?
I've got a QVGA Motorola Motosurf A3100, running WM 6.5.3.
Thanks in advance,
Mr. Hat.
Can you access a file explorer?
If yes goto Windows/ControlPanel.exe
good day.

boo. sorry. 6.1 has that you would think that much would not have changed between 6.1 and 6.5.
The next thing I personally would do is SKTools. Very handy app, it's the only way i un-install programs anyway. Gets rid of all windows miscellaneous debris that windows leaves behind. Program has many other cool features.
good day.

DUDE!!! you HAVE SAVED ME!!! or at least spared me a clean boot, plus reinstalling everything, plus configuring... you've saved me a lot of time and effort.
SKTools did do the trick. Bentsi (that's my device's name) is back to normal.
thank you, thank you, thank you!

I read at somepoint that HTC may be releasing some form of a wifi sharing app for HTC smartphones. At the end of the post that I was reading, there was a cab that installed CMWifiSharing.exe to my Windows directory. However, it looked like that app was for touchphones, sine I couldn't interact with the UI in anyway.
My question is, is there any free application out there that enables wifi sharing for an HTC Ozone on Windows Mobile 6.5?
i'm not sure if any of them support non-touchscreen devices.. but you should try WMWifiRouter and ICS either way.
hope this works for you.

Already tried WMWifiRouter, worked ok, but I'd rather not pay for it if there's already a free alternative out there (or in the making). What is this ICS you speak of?
it's a simple app designed to pretty much do the same as WMWifiRouter.. but with much less options.
look for it.. it's easy to find.

Do you mean this?
I downloaded it to my phone, tried running it, and it crashed right away with an error saying "NotSupportedException at Microsoft.AGL.Common.MISC.HandleAr() ..."
I already have a newer Compact Framework than the one ICS requires. So what can I do?
Edit: Just looking at the screenshot for this program makes it seem it's for a completely different mobile operating system. Reading around on the Internet a bit, it seems like that error occurs when an application tries to create a button that isn't supported on the phone.
Got any other ideas?
unfortunately, no. I haven't used any other wifi sharing software other than these 3. If i were you, i'd try doing it thru winmo. create an AdHoc connection in your native WM environment and try connecting to it. You can probably find many threads concerning the creation and sharing of an AdHoc connection in the forum.
let me know if you managed to get it.
