I have been searching the forums and the internet for a solution to this problem, and finally have decided to ask. It's probably a dumb question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. I was previously using Xplore 1.1 on my G3 Wizard, and recently upgraded to Core 2.0, which I am very happy with. After reinstalling my programs and re-syncing my Calendar and Contacts, I noticed that the Wizard did not read the default contacts from the SIM card (things such as the "Check Minutes" and "Check Text Usage") which T-Mobile includes. The previous version 1.1 did this automatically, I'm wondering if because this is a stripped out ROM there is something I need to do to make it read my SIM contacts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

I didn't understood very well your problem, but you may check the SimManager in the Office Folder to save sim contacts...
Other thing that may help is switch this reg setting to 1
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"ShowSim"=dword:0

This fixed the problem. Thanks a lot for responding personally, I really love Core 2.0 and hope you continue to do good work! Cheers!

Right now i am running Rom version Dutty's WM 6.1 WWE, Rom date 4/29/08, Radio version 1.65.14.06, and protocol version, 25.81.40.02W. I have an AT&T Tilt 8925, I am having a couple of issues with the rom
1. When i am in a phone conversation the backlight shuts off and the only way to get to turn back on is to turn the volume up or down. I have gone into the backlight options and in advanced config. and tweaked each one, nothing seems to work
2. When i setup my gmail account it keeps saying there is an issue with the server or could not connect to the internet, which inturn fails to sync my mail with my phone.
I was wonder if I needed a new Radio, and if so how to install, i know how to flash a rom but can't quit figure out how to change my radio.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
1 use google

Seriously guys! Post the questions in the EXISTING thread of the rom you downloaded. Please READ, and SEARCH, then if you must post....post in the APPROPRIATE thread rather than starting a new one and cluttering this place.

haha, thanks for that. it was a good laugh. I just wish people would read and follow instructions. There are tons of people here who are glad to help, if only people would just follow the rules.
Look for KaiserTweak.CAB. Its a really useful utility created by a person here and it contains a whole load of Tweakers for you Kaiser including your BackLight setting issue.
I have had some issues with my Tilt, and this ROM getting POP3 email. If you go to Start/Settings/Connections/Connections/Manage existing Connections/Edit. If found that the default Access Point Name was "isp.cingular" and the User Name was "[email protected]". I found that in changing bith "isp" to "wap" my POP3 email connected.
I Dont know if this is the cure to this fix, but this was the resolution to my problem
Hi Guys!
I am new to this forum but already amazed by the sheer amount of content on here!
As per the title of the thread, I am a newbie to XDA's and I was wondering if any of you learned gents would be kind enough to point me in the right direction with a few questions I have about my recently acquired O2 XDA Serra. I have done searches and read the WIKI but there are a few points I could not find an answer to so was counting on your help.
The specs of the machine listed in settings -> system -> device information are:
ROM Version: 1.90.206.4 WWE
ROM Date: 09/01/08
Radio Version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol Version: 52.33.25.17H
Model No: Xda_Serra
I have noticed that unlike my girlfriends XDA Ignito (Diamond) my phone did not come with any map software preloaded in spite of the spec sheet saying a GPS chip is built in to the phone. Also unlike with the Diamond there is no separate YouTube application.
So I would be very greatful if any of you fellows can direct me to where I can get some:
1) Good free map software that will work with the XDA Serra and some advice on how to install it (as I read a lot of GPS problems so want to avoid any issues)
2) Tell me how to get the YouTube application on my XDA Serra and again some advice on how to install it
Also I have read MrSkips very useful guide on how to flash a ROM to the raphael and I was wondering what the overall concensus is on which ROM version is the best? Are all released ROMs on here suitable for my XDA Serra?
Also, I have not unlocked my phone and I understand that there is no need to if I want to flash a new ROM on it unless I want to change the radio version or use other SIMs.
Is there any compelling reason why I would want to change the radio version from the one installed presently on the device? Will it serve to boost GSM/3G/GPS Signal?
If so what radio version is considered to be the best and most stable?
I just got the phone today so a bit hesitant to load ROMs on it straight away in case I brick it but I guess you live and learn so all advice to help me get the most out of the device is much appreciated.
Many thanks - you guys ROCK!!!

First let me remind you that the search feature is there and is quite useful. Second to start answering your questions.
As for GPS I use Google Maps. Which can be found here http://www.google.com/mobile/default/maps.html
As far as configuring the software to connect I update the satellites with "QuickGPS" which should be included on your phone. Then I open Google Maps and tell it to use the GPS, I usually have to be outside for it to connect.
For more GPS Stuff check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
As for the Youtube app it may be included on your phone. Check this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448824
And finally as far as the radio is concerned there are a few out there but since the device is so new it will take some time before we know the benefits/downfalls of the different versions. Keep in mind that they may have different results in different areas of the world.
And as for flashing new roms if you have read the sticky located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008 then you should have all of the info needed to be successful. As for which rom it boils down to personal preference just read the threads and make an educated decision from there.
And remember the search feature is your friend.
Im a Fuze/Wm newb too!
When I search my contacts, it has every name doubled. I believe its also showing my SIM contacts. Is there a way to hide it or should I just delete the SIM contacts?
Thanks! (sorry for jumping in your thread OP!)

You can delete the sim contacts by going to the sim manager, selecting all, then delete (make sure not to select delete CONTACTS).
You could also disable viewing the sim contacts by searching for advanced config and look through the 'phone' options. They will then only show up in the sim manager and not the contacts menu.
Lost_Reaver,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately some of your suggestions do not seem to apply to me.
In particular the GPS and YouTube app.
Please note that the ROM I have on my Raphael is specific to O2 UK and for some reason O2 UK has chosen not to include any of the following applications:
YouTube App
QuickGPS
Google Maps
As far as YouTube app is concerned, I used the search feature prior to posting and checked for the application in the following location: windows->youtube.exe. I did not find anything in the windows folder related to YouTube and as such was wondering if someone could tell me where I can get the YouTube app .cab file to install on my XDA Serra.
The same goes for QuickGPS / GoogleMaps. My XDA Serra does not have either of these applications pre-installed. They are not visible anywhere in the file structure of the device. I have since installed GoogleMaps by getting the .cab and am now having the problem that no matter how long I wait the XDA Serra does not achieve satelite lock.
You say that you are able to get lock using QuickGPS as a reciever prep app? If so where can I get QuickGPS from? Will it work on the XDA Serra? I ask because reviews of the device state that an equivalent to QuickGPS is embedded in the O2 ROM by the operator and for this reason QuickGPS was removed. If so, will installing QuickGPS cause more issues?
Anyone with a UK O2 XDA Serra care to comment?
Many thanks!

I have attached the latest version of Advanced config below.
@NCU1980
I have attached QuickGPS, Google Maps, and the Youtube app ripped straight from my phone.
QuickGPS and Google Maps are CABs and the Youtube app needs to go in the "Windows" directory.

Lost_Reaver,
Your YouTube app .zip file did not work but I eventually managed to find both a streaming video .cab file and a youtube app .cab file for VGA resolution and it works great.
QuickGPS for some reason also did not work no matter what location I downloaded the file from your upload or others. However I installed GPS Tweaks and GPS Test and was able to get a signal on googlemaps with a couple up to 5 satelites. All be it a pretty weak one so going to try to do the GPS lag fix and maybe change radio to try to upgrade this issue.
The advance config utitlity works great and I did not know this existed so thanks for that!
Best,
NC

I think the last ROM of Tomal is the most stable one for RAM. For the issue of ActiveSync. I would suggest you to setup a fake Exchange Server and set it to Manual Sync.

Thanx.
For AS issue, just remove the time change event from notification.
Use DF's Task manager, got to notifications tab then delete the event NOTIFICATION_EVENT_TIME_CHANGE for repllog.exe.
cheers

Me too, it didn´t work for me
Is there another method like some registry edit or cab or something?
I just need to AS be stoped to start all the time
Thanks in advance,
it didn't worked for me too... looks like a new "feature" of the latest WM builds...
Anyway... there's a working solution (found somewhere in this site, don't remember where, just searched for it some time ago).
Open ActiveSynch (or just wait for it to open automatically, you don't have to wait much LOL) and tap "setup your device to sync with an Exchange Server"
Fill randomly the various fields (I put [email protected] as email and some other asd everywhere).
Tap "finish" and wait for the sync attemp to fail, or stop it before.
Go to Menu---Schedule and set everything to "Manual".
Ok, and close (or terminate) Activesynch... and forget it.
If you wish you can reopen it Menu---Options and delete the server partnership just created. It'll retain the manual settings and won't come out again every minute.
I tested and it's working fine on Tomal's 8.5ST
Guys,
I need your help. My HTC Touch HD cannot initiate the TouchFlo (3D), and I cannot view it the way it should be at all. I don't know what happened but it just doe sthe following when you restart it:
It will go to the TouchFlo (3D) Page and the message saying "Tap Here to Launch TouchFlo (3D)
I tap and it keeps saying Launching TouchFlo (3D) but it never does that
I can access the mobile from the Start Menu but I want my Touch HD Back to the way it was before.
Anybody has any suggestions please post them or email me at: [email protected]
thank you guys

Save PIM data (ex with PimBackUp or similar) then make an HardReset: HD off, Hold VolUp+VolDown then one click on PowerOn Botton.
D'rath
PS: The process erases all your data but solve the SW problems
Wait, hard reset is the last solution!
Have you installed an application or any graphics drivers? New rom?
If so then you could try to uninstall it and see if the problem is solved!
Sometimes I had this when installing bad drivers.
You could try to install these drivers. (at least before doing a hard reset)
helio is correct,
HR is the last resort (although it will of course fix the problem) as you wont understand what has caused the underlying problem, you will then install the same software/apps and end up with the same issue.
Look at what you have have installed recently, or changed manila files. An incorrect change if playing with a manila file will cause touchflo not to start.
Thanks Guys for your Comments and Recommendations, I really appreciate that,
I need to know how to Backup the PIM Data. I found a file with pim next to it and I already saved it on the Storage Card. Is there any other PIM File(s)? I also listened to you onnot doing the Hard Reset, and removed every software I have doubt about or had installed recently. But the problem still presists, TouchFlo (3D) Cannot launch. Help and thanks again.
Use this app, zip below, to back up your data (emails, contacts etc). The app is simple to use. Word of warning if you use Exchange to sync email and contacts, be CAREFUL....restoring your contacts and then syncing will duplicate all your contact entries (i know because i did it and ended up with 2000 contacts!!!)
You dont say what you had installed, just that you had removed them. Purely unistalling may not fix the issue if a registry change has not reversed.
Have you been playing with any manila files, or deleting anything you shouldnt be? Have you been playing with the registry?
If you really cant analize what you have done and without much more info, you have to decide if the HR is the only available option to you (ie you want the quick fix).
Dear Timmymarsh,
thank you for all you've done for me, I really appreciate that. I am sorry I did not mention what I did. What I have done is try a new ROM, I think it Was WWE but which one I don't remember. I downloaded a bunch of files from this site, thinking they would work without testing them first. But they did not turn out to be what I was looking for. I downloaded the Choco Clock, Sygic GPS, and others from the Manila....and other developers but when I unzipped and installed them they did not work for some reason. So I just deleted them, the thing is I know I should have uninstalled them first. But for some reason I just can't even find the files created by these add-ons or applications. No, I did not touch the registry at all. I am not a Software Man, obviously you guys are amazing in this stuff, I am more into infrastructure if you have any uestions about Wireless Network or Physical Security let me know. I am trying to learn more about this Mobile and want to be able to utilize it to the fullest. Thank you again. For this time I think I am going with the HR so I can erase everything that I downloaded and did not setup Properly, then I am going to install only trusted add-ons and softwares. thanks.
No probs my friend, its what we are here for yes
As for what you have done, its always best to uninstall first, just deleting causing reg problems hence the issues you are now facing. I would say on this occasion HR is your best bet. Best bit of advise i can give you is, install one app/software, test and if there are no compatability issues then add another, if there is then at least you know to safely remove by unistalling that app.
Have fun, the HD is a brilliant bit of kit and can be expanded/modded vastly

JP this is a little off topic, but have you followed the many good guides in the blackstone forum and where are you running the ruu from, make sure its on the root drive not in many folders. You using XP?

Is there anyone who knows how to solve that issue? I am using an HTC Diamond with WM6.5.

You can also use apps below to save the sms located on sim card & import to device.
Have done so on wm2003se wm5 wm6 wm6.1 & wm6.5 custom ROMs
i don't exactly know what you guys here are talking about...
but if its simply about copying a sms from the sim to the phone (as the title suggests) then i don't see how come no one's posted the most obvious solution i've used myself before...
just as background info to those who need to know- i'm running a com5 23569 self-cooked rom on my htc gene (p3400)
and i stumbled upon the solution to this problem you mentioned while going through one of the millions of flashes and restores we chefs go through...
all i did to copy the message onto the phone memory was open the msg to view it and then hit the left soft key to open the menu and the last option on the menu list simply reads 'copy to phone'...i tap on that and voila!! its done...
do let me know if it works coz i don't think it would be this simple and yet left untried by anyone else and requiring external apps to be installed for it to be done...

don't usually have to contend with too many messages myself...this only arises when i put my sim into a temp phone while the flashing process completes...and at worst i have 4-5 messages to contend with...

WOW plenty of options available! thank you guys.
