I've recently migrated from a Symbian S60 platform (SE P990i) to Windows Mobile (Treo 750v).One feature I really miss on the p990i is the built-in ability to use the p990i as a USB drive to transfer files without the need to install the PC software.Does anyone know any software that can make the Treo 750v emulate as a USB drive?Much appreciated.Thx!

Some people get an error when using WM5Storage. The main reason for this is that most of the time an application is running in the background. Or some temporary files are still loaded from the SD-Card.
I've used WM5Storage on my SPV C500, C600, M600, M3000 and even on the Treo 750v it's working like a charme
And WM5Storage is also freeware!

The 750, like all Treo's is a PDA phone, not a smartphone, even though they call them smartphones.

There are 2 versions of WM5 a smartphone version and a pocket pc version (with touch screen)...They have the treo 750 listed in the smartphone section (here) but I thought it was a PPC version of WM5
That's what I was trying to say. The 750v like all Windows Mobile Treo's use WM5 PPC Phone Edition OS. Yes you are correct that it should not be in the smartphone section.

I have installed Activesync 4.5.0 (Build 5096) because it is necessary to keep my HTC S710 in sync.
I have noticed however that I have frequent and repeated program crashes when i try to sync older devices such as my i-mate JAM and HP nw6515 (to my knowledge, both run Windows Mobile 2003 SE).
Did anybody have similar experiences and managed a way around it?

I had no problems with my WM6 device + ipaq 4150 (wm2003).
i also have no problems syncing both my xda mini (wm2003se) and my ipaq hx 2495 (WM5) with Acivesync 4.5. both work fine. if it doesn't, i've heard of other people using Activesync 4.2 successfully as well.
He has WM6 on his s710 so 4.5 is mandatory.
I am going to buy a new device and I am between Treo 750 and Tytn II. Can I play with their ROM images on the PC using the WM Emulator before I make the final choice? How can I get the respective image files to test it? I've got some cheetah nb files for Treo, cam I use it? Many thanks.
I used to use my Orbit very often as a "USB-drive" with WM5torage. I tried the program on my Orbit 2 but on Kaiser as well, but I can't get it to work.
Windows recognizes new drive but won't access it at all.. can you help?
Neither WM5Storage nor Softick's CardExport II are currently compatible with the Touch Cruise. Softick claim to be working on a new version to incorporate TC compatability, so I guess we just have to wait at the moment...
exatly, neither softick,wm5torage works on qualcom based devices(niki/tc/kaiser)

Reading your thread, i am having same problem with new Orbit 2 and windows XP not seeing the disk, my Orbit 1 was not a problem at all. However, my little ASUS EEEPC laptop running XANDROS linux, can see the ORBIT 2 as a mass storage device running WM5torage V1.8 without any issues at all. Maybe its a more a windows issue and not just the HTC device itself.
Dunno :-~ but it works just fine under LINUX.
