So I just registered on this site and have been browsing for quite some time and I had a couple questions and I apologize if I didn't search enough to get the answers....but I tried
Anyways. I have a T Mobile SDA which has just the normal WM5 os running and I saw these new roms, rom "V2.10.06 PV" to be exact. Other then installing from the ways stated in the thread, are there any other things I should know so I don't end up bricking my phone and I guess I should make sure my phone is compatible with the process of updating? Also, is there a list of the programs that come with the rom, or do you install them all as separate plugins? Thanks.
Well if you have an SDA, this is the forum for a PocketPC phone called the HTC Universal, not a smartphone, so yes, you will brick your phone.
You might want to look in the smartphone section http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=246 but I don't know if there are any WM6 builds for the SDA

Good afternoon gang,
I have a few questions about TouchFLO.
I have a HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125). I have only flashed it once for the latest Cingular update. It is an unlocked device. I use it on the Rogers GSM network here in Canada.
Anyhow. I am curious about trying out the TouchFLO but I am not too sure if I want to flash my device just yet.
Is it possible to install any of the TouchFLO capabilities into the ARM Device Emulator?
I develop Windows Mobile applications as a day job but I've never had to deal with ROMs as we setup our apps to run on default factory devices.
We use Device Emulator heavily in our development however I have not seen a way to emulate flashing one.
The emulator boots .bin files.
Also addition questions.
Does the HTC Wizard require WM6 to run TouchFLO? I am pretty happy with my device right now and I see lots of forum posts about many SMS and call/radio issues with WM6 ROMS etc so all of these issues doesn't make it look like its a simple flash & works great kind of situation.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated
Thanks and take care.
Hey. I use and unlocked cingular 8125 with rogers. My phone is a G4 CID locked device. I have the latest rom by ovtaivoi which is a WM6 professional with touchflo software in it. i use the faria 2.69 radio rom and i have had no problems with sms or calls so far. i really love the touchflo software and its pretty sweet. as for your questions, I am not sure what you are talking about the emulator program, honestly. is it something you use on the computer to emulate and see how wm6 would look like? all the upgrade packages come with a .nbf file which is the main data file. if you are able to unpack it and repack it to a .bin file, you may be able to do what you want, but dont quote me on this as i'm still not sure as to what exactly you wanted to do. As far as if touch flow will work only on WM6, I cant say much about that either as i have only used it WM6. WM6 has a better graphics base when compared to WM5 and so i think touch flow would work better with WM6 but I don't think its limited to it.
What I would suggest is to flash the phone with the latest rom. Trust me, its worth it. All the work and skill that the developers have put into these roms really show itself in these roms. Make sure you read enough in this forum before you flash though. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck.
Thanks for the reply!
I learned a lot about my device going through that procedure. It was SIM unlocked but not CID unlocked.
I went through everything and now have WM6 installed using the latest NBD ROM however I am finding the TouchFLO driver buggy. I cannot use my finger to press the "x" icon any more. Sometimes I press it and the start menu appears. Something is up with this touch driver in that release I think.
Also TouchFLO scrolling gestures don't work very reliable and it scrolls way too much.
Is this the case with all TouchFLO ROMs or is each ROM modifying touch capabilities and perhaps one ROM works better than the next?
Also is there a version of the HTC Home with that digital clock with a font about half the size so I can have a few more today screen plugins visible? I like it however its a bit too large.
Thanks and take care.
hi pls let me know the link to download it.

Hello my friends,
I picked up my HTC Wizard (T-Mobile MDA) yesterday, and I want to modernize it with the latest software. I've spent all day (since 9AM, it's not about 9PM) reading these forums, and I'm insanely confused, probably due to the fact that I'm reading stuff from different times.
I need my wizard to have the following:
-WM6
-Reliable Wi-Fi (i.e. no wifi bugs in the rom)
-Super Reliable phone, working with Rogers Canada (i.e. REALLY no bugs in the phone functionality)
-Bluetooth with A2DP
-TouchFlo capability
-Mobile Office (2007 would be cool, but I'll settle for 2003)
-Preferably free of all t-mobile junk
-MP3 and video player
-Ability to install other software
I am currently using a t-mobile ROM, version 2.26.10.2 WWE and Windows Mobile 5.1.195 Build 14955.2.3.0. I would like to back up this ROM before starting. I read something about putting in on an SD card, but that was I'll need to keep a mini-SD card just for the backup. In there any way to dump the data into a file that can be stored on the PC (even to the point of dumping it to an SD card and using linux's dd function to create a file on the hard drive)?
My device is SIM unlicked (I'm using a t-mobile device with Canada's Rogers), not sure about a CID unlock.
I ask for links to most recent ROMs that would fit what I'm looking for as well as most recent tutorials. I'm nowhere near the point of trying to create my own ROM, so a kitchen is out of the question. Maybe later.
Help appreciated. Thanks.
This is where you should start:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310831
Follow that and Dr. P's thread. If you can't follow those guides, don't attempt to install a custom ROM on your phone.
Read it already. It doesn't make suggestions as to which ROM to use though.
There are already tons of "which ROM should I use?" threads, and the consensus from all of them is: read about each ROM and then try the one you like the best.
There are no "more recent" upgrading threads. The link I posted and Dr. P's guide are the best. Those guides are meant to explain how to unlock a phone, not which ROM to use.
Follow those guides, unlock your phone, and then experiment with the different ROMs. Oh, and one other thing: before you even attempt to mess with your phone, spend a few days looking around and reading. Trying to read, absorb, and understand all of the posted wisdom on these boards in 12 hours just isn't possible. I spent 4 to 5 days reading and taking notes before I did anything to my phone.
Alright, I see where you're going with this. I'll take a look around, if anything, I'll post back here. Thanks.
Hello!
I have install just a while ago a wm6 ( to my o2 xda phone (tornado)
this form thread:
WM6 Platinum Edition 5.2.1711.18165.0.5.0 SP1 by NiTroGen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374955
Now i have a problem with multimedia buttons... how can i definite it to windows media smartphone for example?
And i have problem with wifi too... when i open wifi program, that says: isnt driver - where can i download thats drivers?
Look in the other ROM threads for the sp5m fix. Check all the threads before you come back here.
Why do you not do reading to make sure you install the best ROM or look for common problems before go ahead and perform a process that can brick your phone?
Next time you ask a question that you can answer yourself by a quick search I am going to demand you send your handset to ericjm. He needs one to build and test ROMs and you don't seem to need yours because you want to brick it.
Hello, I'm new here.. actually the previous owner of the phone sent me here. Well in summary, I brought a HTC Tilt from someone and they had PDA Corner Ultimate with this on it (R 1.70.19.09 G25.83.40.02 h D 3. Abusalza). Now I have no clue what that all means but I like the phone. First off once I get the IE homepage and type anything in the search part, the website is tiny (unable to read). i tried adjusting the text size and still the same thing. Then it will not allow me to select what I'm searching for (i.e. search- yahoo messenger, bring up the site but I can not select it or go to the page). Next it started acting weird by putting 5s in the address bar (on its own). I've been looking throught this site, trying and hoping that I will find something to help. I may have bypast it (too tired now). Can someone help me figure this out? I also would like to flash WM6.5 on here. i read the tut for that but was wondering do I have to remove the stuff thats on here first? Thank you and feel free to ask me more about this.
Hello my friend.
First, read up a bit on your device, visit the xda wiki, search for tilt and do some reading before you do anything daft.
You arent ready to flash yet. Understand your device a bit and how it works, then when your ready have a play
Visit the wiki here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TiltSpecificWikiPage
Have fun
I had to step away and take a break. No offence but I'm still lost. On the other hand I'm still reading up on this. i think i might just start from scratch. I'm looking inthe phone to see what programs like and post it on the thread where I can get a custom ROM.
the att tilt is the att variant of the htc kaiser (the only difference is the keyboard layout which may need to be fixed depending on the rom source.. you will just need to install a cab), check the kaiser rom section. As for a recommended 6.5 rom, its a person opinion, but i use anryls Roms.. and for you i would recommend the 21500 rev6 build (i have been having corruption problems with all the 21501 versions) To warn you though, 6.5 is not finished and there for not completly stable.... for example the camera does not work with htc menu enhancement (its a driver issue)
Like i said if you wanna look around for yourself sheck the kaiser rom section.
hope that helps,
Joel
Hiya's, I found this site while looking up info on the HTC cruise as I have just received a hand-me-down Cruise from a friend (had a very old nokia..). This is a major upgrade for me (it has a 2 camera's unlike my nokia which has none). I am keen to get the most use from the phone as possible and at the moment it seems to be going ok but having read a couple of the forum messages it seems that there are various upgrades that can make it a better phone.
I have been accused of being a semi-ludite when it comes to using technology so would appreciate any advice on what can be upgraded as far as the operating system and other programs are concerned. I have used the CoPilot program this morning and think is is the greatest thing since individually sliced and packaged cheese..
The settings on the phone indicate it is ROM 1.26.710.1 WWE (date 12/17/2007), Radio Version 1.58.21.23 and Protocol Version 25.65.30.04H.
If any advice is forthcoming, please keep things as simple as possible or I will have to get one of my neighbors kids to come over and explain..
Cheers
Ian
Welcome to the wonderful world of a touchscreen windows mobile device.
Of course there are a lot of things you can improve, thousands of programs are waiting to be installed and so on.
IMHO the most important thing is: If you are satisfied with your current system DO NOT change it. If everything is running smooth there is no need to flash a new operating system or radio. If you notice slowdowns during using the device or if the radio in your area is not running perfect you should flash the latest upgrade from HTC. They are offering WM 6.1 (WM = windows mobile, the operating system) and a new radio. Its very easy to flash but you will loose all your data on the device.
If you don't like your today screen, you can check some replacements, Mobile Shell is one of it:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/mobileshell
And if you like this shell you can change its look with upgrades like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3904948&postcount=2513
Of course you can flash one of the Roms created by one of the devs. You will find an overview here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521961
But you should be aware that many of these roms are using stuff from other devices like Manilla, this might cause problems. And you have to be very careful if flash a self created rom, its not that easy like flashing an original HTC rom.
Last but not least you have to think about the way you want to use your device. If you just need a phone you need nothing else. If you want to read ebooks like wikipedia you need a reader and so on. Here you can find tons of programs for your device:
http://www.handango.com/homepage/Homepage.jsp?storeId=2218
You will also find a lot of freeware apps here:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/
And a very important thing is: Backup your device often if you are trying different applications, you are having a windows device
For a list of recommended software check my signature.
All are freeware except iGO, and easily found on this forums (or links from here lead to authors pages).
And welcome to Polaris owners club...
Thanks very much for the replies..
It seems to be going ok at the moment. I am not too sure whether it is slow or not (nothing to compare..) but opening an application only takes a couple of seconds so I am happy with that. I have been using it primarily as a phone (of course) but have been using the camera like mad. I even made one of my friends give me a video call..very cool...I have tried to use the voice commander application but it doesn't seem to want to do anything and eventually just says "Goodbye" and closes. I am going to look at the list of applications at some of the website that are list above and see what is available.
Cheers and thanks again..
