Internet via EDGE - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hi guys,
So I read some articles about using MDA as an Internet modem. However, all the manuals don't work for me. They suggest to install a driver for the phone but my WinXP automatically detects the phone and installs it as a Mobile Device #4. I use Xplore 1.1 and WinXP and can't configure connection. Phone: T-Mobile MDA using Cingular.
If you can please can help me with that, I would appreciate.
Thanks,
Tom

Fire up the "Internet Sharing" application. No need to use the phone as a modem anymore as it appears as a network adapter and has this app to enable Internet Sharing.

Need Getting Started CD

OK, a search on this gave me everything so I have to start this thread asking for a copy of the Getting Started CD. Sorry if it's already been discussed.
I can't get my pda to sync via usb. I deselect the "Enable advanced network functionality" and it still doesn't connect. Can someone post it or does anyone know where I can download one online? I'm hoping it has the correct drivers (Vista 64).
For vista you don't need the getting started CD... only the Windows Mobile Device center installed... also after the initial connection the Windows update should download it autimatically.

That's what all the instructions seem to say. I've uninstalled the existing devices, connected, installed, disconnect, uninstalled the device, install, etc and I still cannot get my pda to connect via usb. Can't seem to figure it out.
Check if activesync (on the PDA) connection settings... It should be set to connect via USB... Also you can download the WMDC from the M$ site...

Yeap, did them both. To get USB as a cradle connection option in ActiveSync in the PDA, I have to select the "Enable advanced network functionality". However, if I do this, I cannot make a connection. I remember when I had my HTC TC, I had to deselect the "Enable advanced network functionality" in order to sync via USB. But when you do this, you don't get the option to sync via USB when cradled.
I think I'm missing the USB modem driver. I'm found the zip file but I'm still looking for installation instructions.
And I think you should reinstall your OS, because there are some serious issues on your side...

OS meaning PDA OS? I did that 3 times, twice with cooked WM6.1 and once back to WM2003. I was able to establish connection with my factory WM2003.
nah... I ment the Vista (did I mention a hard reset anywhere?)... in my school, we have several verisons (ultimate, business,...), i386, x64 alike and we didn't have any problems like the one you described...
Worth a try...
Try download and manually (instead of through Windows Update) the Windows Mobile Device Center v6.1 update for x64 versions of Vista.
Visit this link to download them:

Yeap, did that too. Thanks though, it's appreciated.
I wonder if it's my firewall settings. Time to explore that option. I remember the old ActiveSync sometimes required manual fixes to the firewall.
Guys - I'm going to end this thread because I guess the thread title doesn't accurately identifies my issue and I don't want to double post elsewhere.

I get the same error, though it did used to work! So something I have installed is obviously conflicting with it.
Solution:
I get this error when I had advanced network functonality disabled.
If its disabled USB uses some other connection. But Efficasoft Mobile Express needs RAPI connection. So you need to enable this in settings but I know that it causes sometimes problems with ActiveSync.
let me try this solution.....currently new version is out i.e 1.5.2.
let see if this version works fine !!!
anyway as deedee said... Jeyo's app works perfectly.. on XP and Vista.. on Outlook 2007.

can u plz tel me how to apply ur solution.....i am not getting it and what is this RAPI connection failed error??
if you use MyMobiler herewith, there is a problem. Quit MyMobiler on your phone.
Same problem
I had the same problem. What I did was, first wait until activesync finished all its tasks and then start the application on my desktop. After that it should work, you must assure that the program, which is installed on your device is running too. I'm using version 1.5.2 Build4380 and it works fine with my diamond.
Please close this thread its very very old.
Thanks for all the help

[Cotulla 6.1 ROM] Internet over USB not working?

Hey guys,
Usually I used to have internet on my Magician via USB using Windows Mobile Device Center or just WMDC (aka ActiveSnyc for XP users) and it always worked like a charm.
After updating to the newest version of Cotulla's 6.1 ROM (great job man ;D) and using searcher12's fixes (very nice aswell ) I can't seem to have internet over USB using WMDC anymore =\ I always though the configuration was pretty much automatic (just have to set it up on WMDC).
Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance,
K.
im using windows 7 and 6.03 and mine is working fine, maybe just upgrade, 6.01 is outdated
Having the same problem, It used to work but not anymore
I use it to update teamstats but now I don't know what happened
please if there is any solution tell us
Hi I just found the problem and it's working again for me
1- go to WMDC ---> mobile device setting ---> then connection setting
another window will popup go to [this computer is connected to]
and choose [ Internet] instead of [Automatic]
that's what I did and It's working now
hope it helps you

Connect to computer with Windows 7 x64

Hi guys,
I tried to find an answer to my problem under the forum "Touch Cruise Android Development". Unfortunately, I did not find any relevant thread.
Could you please let me know how can I connect my HTC Touch Cruise (Froyo 2.2) to my laptop on Win7 64 bits?
When I connect my phone to my PC, Win7 tries to download drivers for the device name "Android Phone", but it failed (No drivers found).
I tried to :
- Use HTC Sync (it's not design for Touch Cruise)
- Try to manually install HTC drivers 64 bits (downloaded from here)
I am looking forward to connect my P3650 to my laptop to be able to share internet using USB (wifi is not working yet).
Thanks for potential answers.
You can't share your pc connection with polaris using usb.
install android sdk and the drivers from android develop (use google)
Will it be possible later?
On WM6.5 it was possible to share internet in both way (from computer to phone // from phone to computer (ex: using 3G)).
i don't think so because there are some other major problems to fix before it
i am still looking for some ways to share internet to my computer, can any one help? thx a lot
use wifi hotspot.

[Q] Need Help - Samsung Galaxy Fit S5670

Hi All,
I am relatively a new user to Android and have recently bought my new Samsung Galaxy Fit mobile phone.
I have my Broadband connection for my PC and am able to make it as a wireless router. So my only job would be connect my phone to my PC's network.
But, I got to know about the limitations we have in Android phones with Ad-hoc networking and hence will have to tweak the settings, which first requires rooting into the phone.
So, what I am looking for is a way to root into my mobile and if available a complete reference on how to connect to any ad-hoc network that is available.
Thanks so much..! Any response is highly appreciated.

You could use an app such as the one attached. Download and install the attached file and try it. Hope it helps.
Thanks Theonew for your response, but unfortunately the Z4root doesn't seem to work.
I installed it and tried runnin the app, it runs for a while and then auto disappears. I assume that this should have worked but unfortunately when I type "su" in the Terminal it shows Permission denied again.
Little more help..

Try the other app uploaded in my previous post. If it still doesn't work, then go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 and see if this works.
Hi Theonew,
Thanks for the link. I used SuperOneClick and it worked well.
Now, as I read in many articles I tried using a wpa_suppliant patch to detect the ad hoc networks but this does not seem to detetc any.
Can you please link me to any article if available
