HI
Yes... Simple..
Regards
It doesnt work, it says something about not being able to find the indicated storage card. How do i use this with my mini sd inside my G3 wizard? with WM6 "the real thing" flashed to it,
Its not working for me either... I copied the files from the compressed folder and into the root of my mini SD card and with the default settings I clicked "Activate" and I got the following error: "can't open the selected card/disk device". What am I missing?
try other version of wm5storage then... one of them must work.
and make SR after install to be sure, if its not working...
cannot check, but theres version, that works...1.73 works, i think:

Are you copying WM5torage to your SD Card? Try and copy into My Device\Prgram Files\WM5torage and then try and activate it... If I'm not mistaken access to the SD card is lost on the Wizard if you enable WM5torage.. Thus having the application installed on the SD card cannot grant access to the SD Card because WM5torage itself (or perhaps other apps) are currently hogging access to the SDCard

Yes, this is correct and that simple...
I copied it to program files on the storage memory and it still doesn't work. Same error comes up, and its version 1.73

You've got both the WM5torage.exe AND the DLL and you installed from CAB and restarted as it demanded right?
yes I have both the .exe and .dll but I don't have a cab to install it and I did not restart.

Install it on the device. Not the storage card.
Like what was said by TipEx "Try and copy into My Device\Prgram Files\WM5torage and then try and activate it..."
i don't have cab to install it, i just copy it from the zip file to my device but it still doesnt work. do i start this before i connect a usb cable or while its connected?
Both order should not have problem.
However despite I can run wm5torage and connect to desktop successfully (Built into WM6 Underground), the connection is very slow (<20kb/s) and unstable (displaying I/O error while copying), I don't know what the problem is.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, if not a moderator please move it to the right place.
I rooted my Samsung GT-S7580, following the tutorial on this forum, everything went ok. After rooting I wanted to use an app called GL to SD (tried FolderMount first but it didnt work due to some faulty thing) after I opened it it said that it needed to change some folder/files issues and rebooted.
Now I can;t access "device storage" anymore, can't install anything. If I plug in the USB cable all I can see is the external sd card and Phone 127MB/128MB but if I open it's empty. I cant copy anything to either locations. Same thing with the phones file explorer I can only access the external sd card, if I click "Device Storage" it's empty for a second then it backs up.
I did a factory rest ... same thing. Please tell me there is a way to fix this and I didn't just make my phone a paper weight.
I can still use odin and android recovery system.

Iif this isn't a Note 3 (N9005) you aren't going to get any help here...
Each device has its own way to root and different recovery. If you flashed something from this forum in all likelyhood you have (possibly) bricked your phone...
My suggestion would be to find your stock rom and flash that... Then (hope you backed up) wipe everything and try again...
I used a tutorial for my phone model and like I said the rooting went fine. I was able to install and uninstal apps, even rebooted it a few times. The problem was after that gl to sd app did something to my file system. Most things still work, I'm on it right now. It seem that I can't access its internal memory

Going to need a little more details than that ...
Anyway it seems that I can install apps if I transfer their apk on my sdcard on another phone and then put the sd card in my samsung, I installed es file explorer and I can access some parts like /sdcard/ but not /storage/emulated/legacy that one is "not found", maybe it's a permission issue?
Start gl to sd.
Then click top-right corner(three dots).

I would do that, if I could find some place to download gl to sd apk .. I can't install using google play and seems all links lead there.
EDIT: The newest version I could find (2.2.0) only has "move data". "Show mounted folders", "Purchase PRO" and "Setting" under those 3 dots and none of these show a restore setting or any mounted folders.
Please update v2.2.22
Only new version has this feature.

hi all,
i have a problem with my galaxy s4 mini, yesterday i copied a movie from my pc to my phone, it was 1.2 gig big and after i copied it there was no movie to be found in the folder where i put it in.
i got a message that my memory was full, so im missing 1.2 gig of my internal memory, how can i fix this?
probebly it will be solved by going back to factory setting but thats a last resort for me, im hoping sombody knows a solution whitout a hard reset.
Silly suggestion, but have you rebooted the phone? Sometimes the file indexers crash (or get disabled) and the files are there but won't show up.
Also, tried another file manager?

You can, if you format your phone
If you copied the file via MTP from your computer, it sometimes fails to refresh the media index.
Try to look at the copy destination with an app from your phone, i.e. a file explorer that does not hide hidden or temp files. It possible that the file is there and you can manually delete it.
As I understand, lollipop should bring back the write access to SD card for third party apps.
However, the app "Ftp server" still cannot write to the SD card.
I cannot root the device due to company restrictions.
Any ideas or suggestions?

So apparently there is a non standard implementation available?

This is exactly mine problem too. I have upgraded to Lollipop in hope to be able to write via FTP Server app to SD card again but it still doesn't work.
Is there another FTP app which can do it?
Also isn't there any other file browser app which can write to SD card (like pre-installed File Commander) ?
Yea, the preinstalled file commander can write to sd. It even have a ftp client.
But I want the other way around.
Have tried a few of the free most popular fpt server apps, but same problem on them all.
Probably/maybe if you make it a system app it'll work. (use Titanium backup for that)
Nvm that's only applicable if you have root, sorry i forgot you can't root...
For those who are interested. FTP server pro has now been updated, and support full access to SD card.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theolivetree.ftpserverpro&hl=en
No dice, FTP server pro only writes to it's proprietary folder, not to SD card in general.
It is working on my Z3 at least. You might have to choose custom folder, then point the custom folder to the SDcard. That is how i have it configured.
That does the trick ! Thanks !!
Custom Folder
LG G4 - I set up the custom folder to be home but I'm still seeing the root (/). If I try to delete or transfer files -- no dice.
Non-rooted phone.
I'm on non-rooted too. Directly after selecting the sdcard as custom folder, I had the option to grant write access as described here:

I didn't receive anything about write access or otherwise after the the window opened to let me select the SD Card.
You have set home folder to custom? And then opened the activated browser just below the home folder option? And select external SD card in that option?
If yes and it didn't work, I would suggest reinstalling the app...

Well it helps to follow ALL the instructions... this is important:
"Don't navigate down into any subfolder. You must select the top-level root folder of the SD card. This is important."
This FTP-Server worked for me:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theolivetree.ftpserver
In the settings you can select your root directory, don't select "ext. SDCard" it will only let you write in the apps own folder on the SDCard. Select personalized home directory than android asks you were your root directory should be, select your SDCard and confirm it, this should do the trick.
(Tested on LG G4 - Android 6.0)
Hope it works for everyone ;D .
CyanogenMod 13 + ROOT
Yes, writing to external card seems to work this way.
But deleting from the external card does not work. When trying to delete a file i get the error:
error 450: no permission to delete
Why?
Why hallo there peeps!
I have rooted my Z3 and before that I copied everyting from the internal and SD card to my Macbook through Droid Nas and it worked flawlessy. The problem is to get it back... Is there no easy way to do it??? The infernal horror way of blocking writing to the SD card after Kitkat 4.4 is just pain in the ass :/
I have been searching and trying but havent found any easy way... Sofar the only way Ive found is to copy files to the internal and then copy it manually back to the SD card..
There has got to be a better way than this?
Install xposed and download the module kitkat sd card full access to fix

Have you tried just browsing a network share from File Commander and using that to copy directly to the SD card?
I haven't tried this yet myself, I just use USB to copy stuff as its faster but I think File Commander has better access to storage being the system file manager.
why not use a card reader for the sd card? the issue with kitkat was applications/data writing to the sd card unless the fix was applied, from what you are saying you are having issues copying from the computer to the sd card when its in the phone

Well I know that works but I want to get it working to copy directly to the phone the freedom and access ya know.
I tried last night with File Commander and it worked fine.
Set up a a share of the music folder on my HTPC.
I then used the Local Network function in File Commander with the following settings.
Domain: workgroup
Server: HTPC/Music/
User: (username)
Password: (password)
Server name is just the name of the network device and the name of the shared folder.
I was able to copy over folders of music from the HTPC to my phones SD card directly over wifi. It wasn't particularly fast though but both devices are on wifi.
File Commander could be a bit better at selecting multiple folders at a time though and whiles it's copying, you can't use the app for anything else.

Download FolderMount. Run it, grant it root access, and then let it patch the system to allow full write access to external storage. After the phone reboots and you've verified it works, you can uninstall FolderMount.
Finally got it working, checked out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 and installed the Alpha release and it worked
So know I got Xposed working and all the mods I want, finally!

Some of you have likely figured this out, but after spending a few minutes poking around ES File Explorer Pro and being unable to locate my 64GB SD card, I finally found the location.
From the root of Device Storage, go to /storage/. Your name will likely vary, but mine was found as /storage/6D31-DA1D.
Having an SD card in my work S5, it was much easier and just required looking for ExtSDCard under /mnt/.

Just to add, the same applies to a SD card attached using an OTG adapter as well. Not as much need to use OTG now except for those times when you just want to transfer something over quickly.

6D31-DA1D looks like the assigned serial number after the card is formatted. If that is true, then everyone will have to look for a different hex number for their card.
BTW is ES File Explorer allowed write access the SD card without root?

So I gather that Marshmallow didn't inherit the Lollipop "Apps can't write to SD card" rule. That's good news. I prefer to transfer files from my PC to the phone via WiFi. Never made sense to have to use two file managers to copy files to the SD card.
