Safe overclocking + battery - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hi all,
Has anyone got a direct link to battery status? i have wm6 business edition final installed as its the only one that seems to work 100% lol.
Also what speed would be safe to overclock to? i was told 245mhz but i just wana check, and what impact will this have on my battery life?

with me it works...
but i don't now if safe....
Batery arounds, in standby 12mA
In hard work....goes to +/-200mA

anyone know what the 'safe' overclocking setting is? i dont want it to burn itself out in time!

in my opinion...
any overcloking is not safe...

Dont go past 280 and you'll be fine

Mines it at 286 with BS, but in TCPMP it says only 260 While omapclock says 264 so i don't know which is right. My battery life with CPU scaler is pretty much the same as always. Although i do feel sometimes like the batter dies faster, like 30 min - 1 hour shorter life, so its not too bad. as for safety, i have been running it at 264 since i got the phone about a year ago, and then when i went to WM6 i did what i said earlier with batter status. Sometimes my screen goes white and blurry and stuff but if i just slide out the keyboard barely and put it back, it works fine. Don't know if its from the over clocking or just from overuse.

im running at 247mhz. although i am scared that itll burn itself out 6months down the line. can i safely up the speed more?

try and tell us...

i am running at 299 mhz, and it works fine on the MBE, and WM05 also

You know what funny is with OC on wizard? i never know what REAL speed is.
TCPMP shows one thing, omapclocker other, battery status another one...
i know about multiplier, but still have feeling, that its not exactly known, how buses are timed while OC. i noticed that less mhz not always = less power, so memory bus may be crucial.
what memory is in wizard? sdram 133? 100?
anybody knows mechanism?
i am curious.
xscale was so easy...

Your problem is your overclocking, of course its going to drain your battery faster.
I don't mean 2 flame but that was a dumb post...I kno that when u overclock it will drain...hence the reason I asked for some good setting 2 use 2 get speed and batteru life...or atleast enough till like8 o clock at night...because I need my phone for the whole day...please post...if u have something that will help me and others looking for the same thing I am looking for...ty
Have you read the other post which claims that battery drain is caused by a corrupt ExtROM? I am trying this out at the moment... hope it is true...
can i get a link to that post?

your problem is that your over clocking all the time, even when your phone is idle. set the speed to 221. then, use the scaler to set your minimum speed to 162 or 169. Then, set your boost to 260 or 273. Play with different extended decay and attack settings. Also, upgrade your battery status to beta3. Setting it like this, you idle at 26-33mhz lower than stock, peak at 26mhz overclocked and boost (for when your workin it hard) to 78mhz overclocked.
also, leave wifi off if your not using it and try not to use it too much. Conserving my wifi use and with these settings, i'm able to take my phone off the charger at 7:30am and i don't charge it again until 11pm.
Check out my sig.
I am running 130 @ idle, 260 o/c, and 273 boost.
Also, noticed (and downloaded) a new version of Battery Status (which has unfortunately since been removed) last week (was using build 0178, then was build 0182, but now it is build 0181). That seems to have helped a bit with battery life and is more accurate on battery strength.
Here's the link to the battery drain solution... So far, for me, it seems that battery drain has slowed down, after I reflash Dopod's official ROM and then flash Xplore1.1(OS only)... But, don't take my word for it as I have 2 variables to consider now.. different ROM and with a uncorrupted Extended ROM..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=302887
One thing I noticed that is different is, now my CPU usage can go down to 1-4%(indicated by Battery Status), previously, it rarely goes below 10% even when idle... then again, it could be coincidence... It's too early to tell, let me go through a cycle of charge and drain first as this is a new ROM(for me) first day!!! See my signature...
thanks for all replys...found it http://rapidshare.com/files/20883928/BatteryStatusExt.1.04.CAB google is great this is 0178 i have 0184 but lost the link

The latest official verisions of BatteryStatus are always right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=270751
184 appears to be posted now. This one finally appears to properly save your settings and then deinstall the previous before installing the new one (older ones didn't do this and I had problems after upgrading and would have to finally deinstall BS completely, then reinstal and resetup my settings).

Yes, but the best part is, you can set it to only lower the cpu clock when the phone is asleep (i.e., when the screen is off). Theoretically you could also overclock it when the screen is on, but not yet on the N1. On the G1/Dream, it was awesome--I overclocked when the screen was on, and underclocked when it was off. It saved battery AND made the phone faster at the same time. Here, it does nothing but save battery--a LOT of battery.
I don't have any problems with the battery.... it lasts me an entire day with pretty liberal use.
I just started using juice defender.. but it seems to slow the phone down at times... does anyone know of a similar app that is maybe more efficient

Here's a good software:

Power manager and set cpu work for me. Power manager hasn't been updated in a while, but its still works and its pretty easy to use. Alternately, you can use Tasker, it has a high learning curve but once you get it, you'll get an entirely different level of performance from your phone.

Actually you can overclock n1 when screen is on, it is set at 998 stock, but it can go higher 1113 is stable. But it depends on your kernel. I use 245/652 when screen is off, 384/1036 when on.

Hey! How overclock tg01? What program? LeoCpuSpeed didn't work
This program alredy dosen't exist.
Maybe later whose write.
Wouldn't wanna fry my phone, if you read carefully you'll see Leo users that tried it say their phones overheated seriously even with a small increase of about 1100mhz and the gain wasn't noticeable. So why bother?

totally agree with you, why overclock? why make the battery worse when it is already terrible? also 1ghz is fast enough for me and loads of other people.
overclock?? this powerplant?? r u crazy? it has a 1GHZ processor for God's sake !
but someone might want to downclock to improve battery life when they don't need too much processing power.

Overclocking not a great idea
Why overclock? 1GHZ (faster than most) runs everything just great. Good idea if you want keep charging your phone every hour. I would only recommend if you are going to stick a mugen 3900mAh battery under the hood.

[Q] battery life issues

im running aokp build 30 and franco kernel on my galaxy nexus and theyre just slaughtering the battery. it comes with a small battery to start, just 1750mah, but this is worse than when i was on stock rooted ics. i had the cpu governor on interactive but i could watch my battery percentages by the minute so i switched over to conservative and it may have slowed down a little. What's causing this? Franco is touted for its battery life, but ive heard a lot of complaints about the latest builds. aokp build 30 has been around for 2 days so... any ideas? preference on kernels?
do one thing goto cwm
Advanced> wipe Battery status
It's better to use cpu tuner and underclock the device when screen is off...try...
I heard that the battery of nexus is not good.so Samsung now providing a battery of 3000 mA check it..
Xperian8~ click thanks if it helps...
OK I'll do that with cwm. aokp comes with the ability to set CPU. any advice on underclocking because I don't know what to do or what to set it to. I didn't know Samsung was doing a 3000mah deal, thought it was 2100?
yes they are..i read that news on gsmarena.com you can search that...
topic>>
Underclocking is setting the max clock frequency to below than the original frequency
Create a profile and you can trigger your cpu settings in screenoff
Create a new profile and underclock..during testing it cause instability so don't check set on boot option..try
Xperian8~ click thanks if it helps...
the only 3000mah battery deal i could find was on accessorygeeks for $25. is that too good to be true?
seems like too good of a deal to be true though.
i understand what underclocking is, i meant to ask what should i set it to? should i change the voltage as well?
and im having a little trouble with your english, can i only create a profile through the cpu tuner app?
I am sorry for my bad English..
You can underclock it max to 600 and min frequency to 122mhz
Yes try cpu tuner and add profile set CPU setting as above mentioned...k?
Xperian8~ click thanks if it helps...
hmm ok, will the underclock have much effect on performance?
and whats the difference between setcpu and cpu tuner? (i have the setcpu apk already)
try after change it

If it seems to good to be true, it isn't true. Be sceptic of too good battery deals, alot of products are just badly labled and produce alot worse results than what their description states.
You can go as low as your device still works reliably, same goes for the voltage.
I would just search a bit, there are surely others who experimented with clock speed and voltage, i read an article some time ago about battery drain getting actually worse if you clock too low, shame i can't find it atm.

On the basic level over voltage and frequency control? Probably no difference.
If you look at extras, i.e. scale depending on certain events there might be some differences.
The thing about the gnex's battery is that its a measly 1750mah, one of the smallest ive seen in new releases. like the razor maxx has a 3300mah battery...
good thing to keep in mind about that skepticism, but do you think $25 for a 3000mah battery is a fair, not-scam deal? i cant post links yet, but if you get a chance, search accessorygeeks . com for a 3000mah gnex battery and tell me what you think of that deal.
and thanks, ill look into what other people have done for their clocking.
Looks okay, makes the sleak gnexus quite bulky though .

Battery needs optimization

After 7 days of with the phone in my pocket, I think battery needs some serious optimization. Compared to my previous device Redmi note 6 pro on 4000mah had a lot better battery than Mi note 10 at 5260mah. Battery is draining like too fast. I'm on xiaomi eu btw.
I sincerely hope Xiaomi fixes this battery issue with a firmware update. A 5000+mah battery with a mid tier chipset should give phenomenal life.
I think we should get together and make some noise to get Xiaomi to address this. Tech reviewers are blaming the UI
I must agree on this. The battery life leaves a lot to be desired. Thought it would be amazing, but it's only marginally better than my old Nokia 7 Plus.. And the battery in that one is 3800mah.
Please optimize the software Xiaomi!
Yeah after rooting i did some digging. There is some kernel optimisation needed.
Example: Min freq is not set to 300mhz but to 5xx mhz. Also there is some kind of cpu boost enbled (i wasnt yet able to disable it) which is way too agressive, this also causes the min freq to get stuck at 13xx mhz. This cna only be solved by rebooting

Do you suggest taking parameters for this? Or just wait for a Major update?
Actually I am impressed by how long the battery lasts on my Mi note 10
Using it basically no stop, with screen on 90% if the timer and using GPS, chats and emails and more, in the evening I still have not less than 40%

Yeah exactly. But thats not that big problem, if you watch your CPU Stats you can see your idle freq get stuck at 13xx for both clusters. Thats quite high for idling. Also did look into the released kernel source, but couldnt find the problem
Not the biggest fan of things like LKT, but in this case it works. Sets the cpu to 300mhz and gets rid of the 12xxmhz boost! if any one want to try it aswell
Your phones guys have really some problems. Mine is rooted and twrp. Updated. The rest is all stock. Yesterday I used it like crazy. I would like to feel the same optimism that you feel, but until now, I cannot. I got my phone 2 days ago, 2 full charges, one gave me 8h of SOT and the other 7h of SOT. There is something wrong here. I had more battery life with the Pocophone I had than with Mi note 10. Let's see if in a future update it gets better

Thinking about it, 4000mah sounds right. The Oppo Reno2 has a 4000mah battery, uses the same 730G chipset and has about the same screen size.
The GSMarena endurance test gave the Oppo Reno2 a 102hr endurance rating.
The Mi Note 10 scored 95hrs endurance rating.
I think we've been duped here
