PushMail client - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

I have Qtek9000 with the latest JW ROM. I use the Outlook Mobile exchange PushMail. It works well, but I am wondering if there is any better PushMail client that I can use instead of Outlook? Now, I cannot receive Today notification if I recieve an e-mail which is filtered by Ruls to another than Inbox folder... I cannot open several e-mails simulteniously, there is no way to ask Read/Delivery confirmation, no way to change the current view of the Inbox and other e-mail forlder, .. the Sent items are sorted by "From" (i.e. my e-mail), not "to".. etc.

hhmm.. I am still trying to find any Push Mail client, but no success.... any ideas?

I will try it.. but as i read, it use activesync acount (there is no way to set up separate exchange server)... and in order to use it, I must keep both - default outlook mail and Flexmail, which is not so good).
If it is possible JW to make some changes in the Outlook Mail in order to be able to sort the e-mails by "TO" (there is only an option to sort them by "FROM"). I need it when looking at "Sent" items

I just mentioned this article: http://blogs.msdn.com/outlook_mobile/archive/2007/03/13/wm6-messaging.aspx and found the Outlook in JW ROM is a littje bit diferrent from the shown pictures! On my device I cannot find the menu for Exchange server searching... If the Outlook in JW ROM is the latest WM Outlook version?

Exchange Sync - strange problem!
Hi, I use PushMail on my PPC (Qyek9000, WM6) to sync with our company
Exchange Server 2003SP2. It worked fine till 01st May 2007, when I suddently
stopped recieving any e-mails/contacts/tasks from Exchange server to my PPC!
It is still connected, it found and synchronizes the Folder list (only), it
count the number of e-mails inside the inbox, but DOES NOT retrieve ANY
e-mails/contacts. It just shows me "0 items". At the same time, I can send
e-mails and if I change something on my PPC (ex.new Task/contact) it
synchronized on the Server and I can see it on my desktop Outlook.... The IT
guys checked the server, but nothing found! I have deleted and reinstalled my
PPC exchange mail settings, but the same problem. Please any idea how to
solve it. Thanks!

You can actually set your pushmail exchange email account to sync outside of your inbox:
On your device:
Goto Messaging
Outlook Email
Menu
Tools
Manage Folders
You'll see a folder browser.
Inbox is default synced
You can now enable more folders for synchronization (for example your sent items)
This way you can sync your inbox and a couple of your selection of folders for specific people

I can and I did it! But the problem is that I still not recieve any e-mails on my PPC. In fact, it synchronize one-way - from PPC-to Exchange server, but not vice versa! I can see the folder list, but it does not "send/push" amy e-mails... Last week it worked normally!

The IT guy
Mine is working great (I am the IT guy), Make sure that you have the correct certificate on your PDA, or ask you IT guy to give you the certificate and reinstall it.
Then make sure to try your account with and without SSL.
Good luck, let me know…

The certificate is fine but the problem stil. I tried another PPC - Nokia, with Symbian, but the same problem. The result is that I can synchronize ONEWAY only - from PPC to Exchange, but not vise versa (from Exchnage to PPC). The IT department guys cannot find any reason and do not know what to do. I suggest tham to restrat/reset the exchange server... but still waiting

Problem Solved
The problem is solved! The reason for the problem was the Exchange Server's antivirus software (McAfee). We had to switch the mail scanning from "on demant" to "background scanning". Now it works

Sound complicated.
I am using live.mail2web.com and receiving mail at Outlook and is ok. Just need to set the exchange address, thats all.

Please help

Hello,
I am new and experiencing dificulty configuring my email with outlook, I have read past threads but none seem to cover the specifics of my dilema.
I use outlook 2003 to access my email, the email address is my own domain, I have outgoing mail SMTP and Incomming POP3.
I can sync my pc ok with outlook (so my emails, contacts, tasks etc are added to my orbit) but it doesnt let me configue my email settings (incoming and outgoing settings etc) under the outlook tab of the orbit, to send or recieve emails.
To make this clearer I when I set the email settings I have the choice to chose either POP3/IMAP4 or Outlook, If I chose outlook then it takes me to a wizard to configure exchange server (which I dont have) So therefore I have to chose POP3/IMAP4 which works but it sets up a different folder to the synced outlook folder.
So as it stands I can send and recieve emails from a pop3 account on the device but not the outlook account unless it is connected to my pc.
I hope this makes sense, however if you need any more clarification please ask.
Please please please help - I have little enough hair as it is but am losing more by the second trying to work out how to do this.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
outlook mail == using outlook on your pc to send the mail using what ever type of mail system outlook on your pc is set to use
if you want to mail without being connected to your pc you need to make a pop3/stmp setup on your phone
not all isp's who offer pop3/smtp mail accounts will you access them externaly though with other then webmail
Thanks for the response.
I can set up pop3/imap4 on the device easy and it sends and recieves no problem via the gprs network.
My problem is that if I want to synchronise any emails that have been sent to my device with outlook on my pc (so I have the same inbox on both) it doesnt work?
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks again
Steve

Send mails from "Outlook E-mail" account

Hello,
Is it possible to send mails from the "Outlook E-mail" account which is synchronized with my Outlook from Windows mobile phone ? When I want to answer to a mail, it is saved in outbox and then after next sync my Outlook sends it. so i always have to use my own configured mail account there. and answering on a mail from "Outlook E-mail" is not possible...
Hi,
for doing this, you need to configure your mobile device to fetch e-mail directly from your isp's mailaccount via pop3 or imap. that's something completely different from active sync.
be aware, if you configure pop3 you need to leave a copy of the mail on the mailserver for pop3 downloads messages. in that case you'll get your mails only on one device (mobile OR pc/notebook). the solution would be imap.
so you need to configure your mobile device just like your outlook account on you pc/notebook (server, username, password).
Plus, you'll need to have a look on your data transfer. if you access you mailaccount directly, the mails charge your dataplan. so take care of size limitations while configuring your mobile device (only headers prob, and limit size of attachments unless you do not want to download huge mails).
Hope this helps,
tsfnet
No other way?
I have my outlook account, synchronised with all mail downloaded at the office and an imap account to retrieve emails on the go. As the imap account is cleared after office download, there is no archive inside. Both accounts are linked to the same email address.
I would like to be able to work on my mails (outlook account) and then send replies thanks to the imap account.
In office 2007 there is an option to enable you to select the account to be used for repling or sending emails. No such option in WM6?
Thanks
Michel
Ps. On top anyway to retrieve several emails accounts in one go?
I think you are looking to sync your company email. You will need your IT dept to set up Exchange for you to do this:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...ketpcphone/email/company/exchangeoverair.mspx
Thanks.
Sadly I'm not using a Microsoft Exchange Server.
Outlook is directly retrieving emails from my imap server (sync with my Kaiser). When I'm roaming, I retrieve mails on the imap server directly.
I'm not able to reply to mails previously sync (outlook account) when I'm not at the office - This is an issue as I'm consultant and I stay days without coming back to my home base.
Thanks for your help
Michel
Message up.
Sorry & Thanks
hey man i hated that too i thought that m$ didnt make this a thing you can do out the box.. just download emoze or another similar app that will push everything to your phone and from your phone to your comp.. if i were you when you do this dont have it push your contacts because when you plug in to active sync it doubles
Thanks - I will give it a try.
But it is weird it is not possible to select the account to be used when sending/replying to emails.
I tried to copy/past my answer from my outlook (sync) account to my roaming one and this is not even working.
Any other idea?
Thx
M
No solutions?
Maybe using another email client?
thx
M.
pocket outlook is gimped without exchange... also, exchange 2003 has push enabled if it's up on service pack but lacks html email and some other instant sync capabilities that 2007 has...
if i didn't setup my own server i would def say paying for hosted exchange is worth it... ive messed with all those other sync/push clones but nothing comes anywhere near to the functionality/ease-of-use of having direct sync with exchange.
I will check for an hosted exchange server.
As a temp solution I will try FlexMail 2007: It is possible to reply to sync mail with another account.

Would this fix your problem? Set Outlook on your PC to "Leave a copy of messages on the server", and have your Kaiser retrieve all your messages from the IMAP server directly, whether you're in the office or not. If the Kaiser is connected via ActiveSync, it will use your PC's internet connection anyway, so no extra network charges.
That way all your emails are in one account on the Kaiser, and you could even turn off Outlook mail syncing in ActiveSync and reply directly to emails from the IMAP account on the Kaiser.
If you can't find "Leave a copy of messages on the server" in Windows Outlook, on my version (Outlook 2003) it's under Tools/Email Accounts/View or Change/Change/More Settings/Advanced (well hidden).
Can't confirm this option is there for IMAP - I use POP3 myself.

I haven't done too much looking at exchange hosting solutions but I think $10/month is the minimum you'll find... mail2web appears to have good hosting solutions.. you can try out their free service but it requries you to use their email address unless you upgrade to the $10/month plan.
Hi I just downloaded windows live onto my verizon xv6800, but when i go into setup new email account in outlook and enter my email address and select automatically get settings, it then says found settings for msn.com, but then it just transfers me to windows live. I cannot get outlook to send and recevie messages. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreicated.

Why does Yahoo Imap work on wm6.1 but not on my desktop Outlook?

My Fuze auto configures for yahoo and goes to a imap.mail.yahoo.com server, it works like an IMAP champ.
I then configure my Outlook for the same settings and I keep getting the UserName/Password entry box. I know I have the settings the same as the phone and the correct username/password.
Any tips? Imap for my Yahoo would be awesome on Outlook.
I am kind of answering my own question here. Looks like Imap Yahoo has a way to verify an id of the device type before it allows connection. So apparently wm6.1 mail app sends what it needs to Yahoo Imap Mobile but Outlook does not.
Damn, I was looking at doing that as well. I hope they open it up!
Hi,
Surely there must be a way to fake this via Outlook, anyone?
Not that I have ever found. I made a full conversion over to Gmail as a result and low and behold it was a huge pain in the ass and I now have to monitor two email addresses.
Hey,
Thanks for the reply. From what I understand, Yahoo servers require a specific, but non-standard IMAP command to be sent before login is done. The command is: “ID ("GUID" "1")”. Rumor is that its easy to modify the client to send it. Mutt and Mozilla Thunderbird already have a modded version. Furthermore, YPOPSs! and FreePOPs also use this command.
Can anyone provide some insight as to how we would go about modifying the connection string Outlook uses?
I guess this would be similar to configuring your browser to present itself as a different client - something that is very easily done.
Thanks!
I would also strongly appreciate a solution for this...
Somehow it should be possible to make "desktop Outlook" behave like its mobile counterpart. At least as an option...
I have found this on the web describing the issue:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahoo!_Mail#Free_IMAP_and_SMTPs_access
Does someone know how to incorporate the sending of the described ID string into Outlook as well as it seems to be present in the mobile version??

This is NOT true. I have tried downloading only headers and still the same problem: On the PC Outlook fails to connect correctly to the IMAP server due to the problem described on the page I have linked to above.
With mobile Outlook on the phone downloading headers as well as content via IMAP works perfectly.
I agree with Jean Luc. When using a mobile device to access the Yahoo IMAP server, any and all options work as they should. However, when using Outlook via non-mobile computer, it doesn't work.
Clearly Yahoo has implemented a filter on the connection string Outlook is sending to prevent users from using IMAP. I believe the fix should be relatively easy. Can anyone provide some insight on this?

MS Technical info found...need help applying
Just happened to be searching more generally for this myself today for my desktop Outlook having got used to IMAP on my WM6.5.3 Energy ROM and wanting better that 'leave mail for x days' POP3 options (Specifically I want my desktop sent items to sync up to Yahoo mail like then do when sending from my phone so in and out boxes are all in 1 place)
Found this MS Technical info page that seems to give all the info needed on how to get Outlook to send custom properties, it's just I don't have enough knowledge of RegEditing to get this right ;(
Changes to custom properties in Outlook - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907985
Scroll down to just over half way on the page and start reading from 'Not recommended: Use the AllowNamedProps registry key'
That suggests you can edit your CurrentUser registry values to permanently send pre values as part of each recieve something along:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\AllowedNamedProps\{00020329-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} "Kind"=dword:00000000 "ID"=dword:00000001
???
Although I presume that the {000...00046} GUID is Machine or User specific and that's the bit I'm not sure what to set for my install, think I worked out the other bits.
Anyone with better Windows Registry knowledge able to help out?
Found working Yahoo IMAP 'incoming' proxy
In my continued searches I came across the following IMAP proxy which acts between Outlook and Yahoo to insert the necessary GUID 1 string as part of it's call to Yahoo's server, and would do that same for any other IMAP capable client at http://www.ameir.net/blog/archives/43-Yahoo!-Mail-IMAP-Proxy.html
Using the Windows download of this tool on Windows 7 with Outlook 2003 (Odd combination I know!) I was able to get Yahoo IMAP email and all folders to appear within Outlook where I thought I was onto a real winner!
Unfortunately it looks like either the proxy or my setup didn't fully support 2 way IMAP as I wasn't able to drag any local email up into the IMAP account as I should have been able to do.
It did however allow me to pull down server copies of Sent items from both Yahoo Webmail 'Sent' and WM Device 'Sent Items' folders and just drag and drop them into my normal Outlook default Sent Items so those were all together again.
Setup was pretty simple for what I got working:
1) Download and unzip the file in the Windows archive from that page above
2) Run the .exe included with those extracted files to open a DOS window running the proxy
3) In Outlook configure a new IMAP email account but set incoming IMAP to 'localhost' then in advanced settings make sure incoming port is 3490. Setup all other fields as you'd normally expect and with Yahoo normal SMTP server address.
4) Outlook will add a new tree for that account in left hand 'Mail Folders' view, just click around and explore. If no sub folders appear right click on root and choose 'Update Folders'
Hope that helps someone, and as code for this proxy is open source maybe someone could work out how to embed this customisation direct within Outlook so IMAP should then work fully 2 way?
Will keep my fingers crossed someone with suitable skills sees this thread as would really like to move into an IMAP world now I know how much better than POP3 it is!!!
A special thanks to Howshall for the research!
I have tried adding those registry entries in an effort to get Outlook to send the custom command, but it doesn't seem to be sending it when looking at the outgoing packets. Can anyone offer some insight? Thanks.

Sync all mail accounts in one go

Just a question (not reaaly TD2 related) but since there a lot of gadget freaks here i can ask the question...
I have several mail accounts
Exchange (For business)
Hotmail (Private)
Several others
Now i have to use activesync to sync exchange, then switch to every account and select send/receive.... (i don't use push since i have a gsm only abbo)
is there some tool out there that let me sync all mail at once ? and if it's possible and get the latest A-GPS data and wheather as well...
Think the only way around it is to setup forwarding of accounts to one of your accounts and then pick them all up from there through activesync with something like Microsoft Outlook

Exchange email account in HD2

Hi,
I created an outlook email account in my HD2 to synch with my exchange server email. sync is running ok, but I can read the message in plain text format only not HTML. When I configured the account I chose HTML but once you make your first sync, it changes to Plain Text and it is grey out so that you can not change it!!!
any idea how can I download the emails in HTML format?
btw, if you create a POP3 account, then you can read HTML but the sync doesn't work the way the active sync do...

It is a setting in the email sync. You can do it from WM or from desktop (if you activesync to a desktop.
On HD2, it is not easy to get there: Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Microsoft Direct Push (click the words, not the switch) -> Menu -> Configure Server -> Next and you are about there.
Exchange 2003 or 2007
Full HTML email sync is only available if you use exchange server 2007 or 2010.
Thanks for the information Woffel.
and Alex, thanks for your help, but that only works if you sync with your PC not with exchange server.
I found some threads in the internet saying it is a bug in MS active sync software and it is been there for years.

probably you have exchange server 2007 or 2010. Do you know what is the version of exchange server that your mail server uses?
Your are right. It is Exchange 2007.
attachment problem
I have other problem, my outlook can't sync (download) attament - phone writes me that attachment will be downloaded in new "send/receive" but it isn't.
Settings of outlook client seems to be OK - "donwload size limit=> entire message; checked options Ïnclude attachment", without restriction of size. I'm using Exchange 2007 with "default policy" with settings checked "allow attachments to be downloaded to the device.
And for more info i can tell you, that with my old kaiser(WM6.1) it worked succesfully. All users with iphone have not problems with their outlooks too - so it seems, that exchange server setting is OK.
Help me pls, i can't live without attachment .
When you get a mail with attachments, don't you get the links in the mail header? Click it and you'll get the attachment.
Or do you want it already downloaded before you open the mail?

I dont see any option to enable full download of emails. Its my Yahoo account. However i think i found the problem.
I think its the account im sending the attachment from.
I logged in to my XX yahoo email on my pc and sent me attachment. HTC doesn't pick it up. The i logged into my AA yahoo email and sent myself same attachment and it picks it up.
I noticed that on XX account I have a stationery enabled (background on outgoing emails) so when i sent myself emails from here I see the background but no attachment.
I took off stationery and resent attachment and now i see it on HTC HD2!!
Thanks!
I think it's a certificate problem. I couldn't download attachments when synchronizing my HD2 with Exchange 2007 too. You should get root certificate from your adminstrator or, if you can access your server, start mmc, add new snap in (choose Certificates), find your company exchange certificate, export it and send it to your phone. When you tap on the certificate file on HD2 it will be installed as root certificate. Now you should be able to download attachments properly.
