SIM Manager Question - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I like the SIM-Manager app on the HTC Phones, but can not figure out how to transfer just a subset of my contacts to the SIM card. When I'm in Contacts, I can filter them, say by Category. When I call the SIM-manager from the menu and select "Copy contacts to SIM", I still seem to get *all* entries (of which there are way too many to fit the capacity of the card), instead of just the filtered ones.
Could this be done somehow?
(I need the SIM-Card for my car, the built-in phone reads only the SIM card).
Thanxx, Mixx

I am trying to solve the same problem. Is there any other SIM manager software that can do the requested trick of copying only selected category of contacts to SIM?

SIM Toolkit What does it do?!

I have always wondered what the SIM toolkit application tool does. Whenever I try to run it ti says "Your SIM Card has no application installed." Uhm.. Okay.. Neither does my wife's SIM card on her XDA I.
Does this have any use at all?
Just wondering..
Some operators give SIMs which has applications installed in it.
SIM toolkit does nothitng else but shows you a menu. And you can use this menu.
In Pakistan most gsm operators have applications in their sim. Which allows you to check weather updates, news etc.
Basically what happens is, when you click on a menu the application will auto-compose and send an sms to server. And then you get a reply to that as a regular sms.
Thats all about sim toolkit, its nothing Fancy
sim toolkit
I think it depends on the services available from your provider. I have a uk orange contract and my sim toolkit has "call orange", "information" and "group text". (I have to say I have never used these).
There have been other posts on this subject so it may be worth searching the forums for more info.
SIM Toolkit applications are additional menus, that mostly contain SMS information services, that are ordered automatically without manually typing keywords into a SMS and sending it to a service number. One could also make a phone call a certain number by choosing an item.
All German operators have SIM applications on their SIMs. So when you enter you can choose from news/weather/stock rates/ordering logos and ringtones and such stuff. When you choose an item a request-SMS will be send automatically and as result you will receive a common SMS or ringtone or logo.
In my opinion this is a relic from the pre-WAP-times. I don't see a real use in it and I have used it maybe 3 years ago for the last time.
By the way, the SIM applications are able to update themselves - sometimes the menus are updated automatically to make new SMS info services available.
On Nokia phones SIM applications appear as the last menu called "Services", but only if available.

SIM MANAGER

I have a new Sim card. I have transferred the contacts from my old Sim to the Sim manager on my XDA.
I copied across the contacts from the XDA using the Sim manager to my new Sim. However, I have made mistakes and want to clear the Sim of all contacts in order to start again.
How do I clear all my contacts?
Thanks.
go into sim manager
go into the manu tools
choose sellect all
press the stylus untill the tab option list comes
pick delete
then the sim card should be empty

Voice Command phone/sim contact conflict

I have WM6 installed on my Wizard along with MS Voice Command 1.6. All of my contacts on my sim card are also in the phone. But the phone contacts have home/work/cell numbers while the sim card just has the contact's cell number.
The problem is when I say "Call John Smith at Home", the SIM card contact is found first, and VC complains that it can't find a home phone. It only allows me to call the cell phone.
I can't find a setting to make VC only search phone contacts. Does such a thing exist? Is there a registry setting that could do this?
I don't want to delete my sim contacts because I often use my sim card in another device.
Any help would be appreciated!

[Q] edit SIM-Card SMS storage size via PC/SC Reader

Hi there,
does anybody know a (free?) software which can edit the size of a sim-cards internal storage ?
i have a sim card for a sms gateway, where i want to change the number of max sms on the card. this can be done with decreasing the size of the phonebook storage, while increasing the storage for sms. unfortunately, i don't know a software which can do the job - after hours of googling and trying i thought i ask some professionals
usually the operator's service points can do that, but in my case they have a new software version where this feature was removed
I may be able to help
Hi, I registered just for you, you know =)
There is a list of software but it depends on what sort of sim card reader you have. If you are still active and need some further help, I can help. I also want to do the same thing you do, increase the SMS capacity on the SIM card, even if if it means losing address book space on it. Actually, I wouldn't even need to store any phone book entries on the SIM at all since I store it on the SD card and have also backed up the entire address book using one of the sim card software.
If you can help with the details on how to increase the SMS space, I would really appreciate it. If you still need help, also, I'd be more than happy to help.
Have a good day!

Assign SIM card to a contact

Is there a way to assign a SIM card to a contact, either built-in or third-party application? I use dual sims and would always like to use a particular SIM for certain contacts, without the phone always asking which SIM to use. On other dual-sim phones, such as S10, the phone will remember the sim lasts used for a contact and will automatically use it again.

Go to settings, wifi and internet, sim and network. On the bottom of the page is "smart callback", which chooses the sim card to use based on previous calls with the contact. That's the only setting I'm aware of

Thank you, but that only works for calls from call log and not from contacts or Bluetooth dialling, which makes the phone unusable in a car.
