Ringtone Volume on WM6 ROMs doesn't work - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Wizard Model: 8125
G3 or G4: G3
IPL / SPL: 2.26
WM6 ROM: Faria Vanilla (beta)
Does the Volume setting change your ringtone volume? No
I'm pretty sure I've seen this in all WM6 roms I've tried (MBE, mUn, Faria "the real thing", NotTooSmart Vanilla, XPlore 1.1, and Faria Vanilla Beta)... Changing the volume for the ringtone on WM6 roms has no effect when the phone actually rings. While I can use the slider to change the ringtone volume (and the 'dink" sound it makes while adjusting it changes volume like it did on WM5) but when the phone actually rings, its always the same volume (whether the slider is on the next to the bottom volume setting or on the loudest setting). Basically I've had to resort to turning the sound off or just using vibrate mode when I'm in places where I don't want a loud ringtone to go off since I can't turn it down. This works, but isn't a good solution IMO.
If I go to Settings > Personal > Phone > Phone, and play the ring tone from there, the volume here is correct based on the slider setting (same with the volume for games and other programs, the volume appears correct based on the slider). This issue only seems to impact the actual ringing of the phone when it plays the ringtone. Its always the same volume.
Have others noticed this? I'd like to use this thread to try to determine the issue and solve this if possible.

Do you mean Faria's "the real thing" or the AKU 3.3 with Crossbow icons and themes? What does your rom show in Start > Settings > System > Device Information for the ROM and Protocol Version?
So by testing, you changed the volume and called your phone to hear the ringtone I assume? And it definetly changed volume? (sorry just making sure we are both on the same page).
No worries on being a noob (we all were at one time )... All information is good (especially if I can figure out why this doesn't work for me).

sorry info as follows
Rom version 2.18.0.0.wwe
ROM date 2/14/06
protocol ves 413.1.03
hope were on the same wavelength
and yes changed settings and rang phone volume changes fine

Im just confirming you got this rihgt so bear with me here. When on the Today screen, when u move the hardware slider, u get 2 sliders on screen, to the left is ppc volume slider, the second one is ringtone slider. Which many people confuse for incall volume slider, which is only availiable while in call..
So tap the volume putton on the today screen top bar, and adjust the slider to teh right, ur ringtone volume should change.

No Way! I could have sworn under WM5 the one on the left did the ringtone volume... Yep, just tried it and this worked...
Man, just learned something new. I thought the one on the right was the in call volume control. Geez...
Thanks a ton Mr. Burrito for catching that. Was driving me up the wall.

Hi,
I have flashed with Dutty's Official WM6.1 ROM and now it's working fine except sound.
When I receive call only vibrate and the applications are also silent.
Where can be a problem?

You need to flash a new radio, try one of the versions in the first page of the Dutty's ROM Port. Or read the sticky on this forum. There is a radio help link in there.
For the life of me, I can not figure out why my phone (when set to vibrate and ring) only vibrates when receiving a call. I've tried it at the "normal" sound setting and at "automatic" and when calling from my landline, it still just vibrates w/ no ringtone. When going into HTC Home 2.1, i check the ringtone and it plays. Any help on the matter? or a good explanation of what the "automatic" sound setting truly does? I feel like an idiot...
ps I'm using OEM status as far as my rom goes. I've only added HTC Home and the Kaiser Tweak.
Thanks Dave, now it is OK!

[HELP] Buzzing sound after using keytone during call

Im using the [Oct 05] Polaris Kitchen v1.4 Multilang - WM6.1 (Build 19965.1.2.3) ROM for a while now.
having notice anything until now.
ROM Version is 3.13.405.0 WWE
Radio 1.58.21.23
The problem is that when I call numbers that has touch tone option, like press 1 for something, 2 for another...
the speaker emits a very annoying buzzing sound or noise. And I cant hear the other side.
It keeps on going until I soft reset the phone.
otherwise making normal call seems to be ok.
so basically I cant use voicemail, which is kind of a big problem.
I tried to look for answers but found nothing, sorry in advance if there is already a post for it.

Well, i really don't know why is it happening, but if it is indeed the DTMF tones playback on the earphone that causes it, you may try to simply disable it. It's in the phone options, under sounds, select "off" under keypad. It will still send out those tones, just won't play them on the earphone. I alway had this option on "off" simply because i don't like hearing the DTMF tones while dialing.
thank you,
problem fixed
can believe its so simple
but its definitely a glitch for this rom

Hd2 Volume Issue

Hello All,
I always want vibration only on ring with no sound. When I set ring to vibrate, that also turns off the sound on the included media player which means no sound for hearing voice mails. To hear voice mail, I have to go to the volume control rocker on the left side of the device and turn up volume. Now I am out of vibrate mode for the ringer, which means I have remember to go back to set the rocker to vibrate. Yes, I have the phone set so that ring and system should be individually adjustable; it does not really work that way, but that isn't the point here.
The Point. Can anyone recommend a cab, registry tweak or adjustment so that my media player volume is disassociated with the media player volume? I would like to have volume for my media player while never having ringer volume.
Thank You,
Ndmand
settings/sound & display and turn single volume off. You will now have separate volumes for ringer and sytem.
it does not work. that was the point of my post
Not so.

Maybe Volumex?

I'm not sure (I'm currently back on my Blackstone), but couldn't you select a "ringtone type" at the sound settings? e.g. "ring"; "ring+vibrate"; "ring, then vibrate"; "vibrate only";... and just select the "vibrate only" option?
I have this options in my Blackstone, but I'm not 100% sure if it's still present in HD2...
Grtz,

Thank You, Coincidence
Thanks for your reply. I really do appreciate it. As fate would have it, I happened to have figured this out yesterday, and it is exactly how you say. The ring tone type is now set to "vibrate" and it seems that I can use the volume key for the more useful purpose of making sure I can hear voice and music. Thanks again for your help.

Sorry, I missed a couple of your posts. I think my problem is fixed, but thanks for the cabs. I am new to Windows Mobile and am excited about the cabs yo posted. I may want to install them just to check them out. Again, thanks so much for your response and your obvious willingness to help others through this forum.

I am a little confused. Happy your request was answered. But maybe you can enlighten me to why the dual volume doesn't work. Or exactly why it didn't work for you. On my T9193 I set it to have dual volume. I keep the ringer volume on vibrate and the system volume turned up. Nothing else is affected by having the ringer volume on vibrate. Texts, emails, all notification sounds come through perfectly except for phone ringer. Did I miss something?
is it normal that if I set ringtone to "vibrate" from settings tab-phone settings I have sound on other apps (e.g. music player) but if I set ring to vibrate using volume button (double volume on) all device get silent ?

"Normal" profile muted after vibrate in SPB MS

Hi there,
I'm encountering a problem with SPB MS 3.5.5. Almost everytime after I change the sound profile back to normal, both the ringer volume and the system volume are muted while they were on 'full power' before I changed the profile to vibrate. This way my phone wont ring and just continue vibrating, while the profile is set to normal.
Does someone know how to solve this problem, or did someone encounter the same one?
I'm using an Omnia II with WM 6.5.x. Before I was using this ROM I had the same problem (default ROM with SPB MS 6.5.2), but the volume was set back to level 3
thnx in advance!

Ring volume lower than slider setting.

I've only just noticed this but when I set my ring volume using the Ring Volume slider in settings, you hear a quick preview of how loud it is when you let go.
Also when choosing the Ringtone with Sound Picker, you again hear the Ringtone preview.
What I've noticed is that when I actually ring the phone myself, the volume is noticeably lower than the preview.
I tired the same test on my XZ but that rings at the same volume as the slider control.
My Z3 has not been in water, or dropped, or anything like that. Both speakers are working when previewing and when ringing.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I even tried a factory reset but it's still the same.
P.S. I am running pre rooted 23.5.A.1.291. It's the CE 1288-7914 firmware.
Same problem
