Hi I'm new to this site and new to Windows Mobile Smart Phone.. I've purchased a SPV M3100 from EBay and unlocked the phone. Everything seems to work apart from the MMS... Got the setting of Vodafone, but it still doesn't want to work.. Has anyone else had any problems with this? Does anyone know of solution etc?
Thanks
Well, I am looking into eBay myself and am tempted to get one (how much did you get yours for? New?).
As for the MMS, see first if the MMS applications are installed (should be if you're using the Orange stuff). If they are not installed, then you should have a look around to find the necessary cab (install packages). If the application is installed, then bringing up the right soft key and choosing options (under mms), you should see an "options" menu item and should be able to proceed from there.
Also you're likely to get better help from the Hermes forums as that's what your device is (see a little lower).

Hello, I have had an O2 XDA II for a year now. My company has just supplied me with the i-Mate equivalent (MDA III ???) , anyhow, I have noticed a couple of differences and would like to know what other there are...
the i-mate has th US version of the ROM installed, not the WWE .
It does not seem to have an extended rom,. or the extra 16M of 'storage' that the XDA II had, is this right??? I thought the two units were physically identical inside. Does this mean I will now have to install my programs into the normal Ram, I used ot put them into 'storage' to save my memory.
When the units are hard reset, they run an automatic program to set them up, I cancel this by pressing the reset button. I know the XDA II setup configures the unit with all of O2's software and icons etc. What does the imate version of the setup install?? I would like to know if there is anything useful in there.
THe setup program must be stored somewhere?? This I would asume to be the extended rom area as mentioned abvoe but I cannot seem to get the EXTrom tools to work any ideas??
Are there any other differences I should be aware of.
Thanks very much
Also, I have noticed that the Bluetooth icon is missing form the system tray, I used to use this quite a lot to turn the BT on and off, is there any way I can get it back??
Currently the only way to get to the BT is via settings, connections.
Has anyone else tried this?
I wanted to remove the Vodafone customisations from my 750v so I tried the following: a hard reset (reset with power button on > 'yes' to delete all data); as soon as the power and screen comes back immediately remove the battery to interrupt the setup process.
The result? No VF splashscreen and 60MB (was around 48MB previously) of storage memory in addition to the program memory. The 750v seems faster. However, a manual setup of the data connection is required as is a registry edit to change the 121 voicemail button to my providers voicemail number.
I'm sure there are other changes too. I've still to test this properly over the next few days including a trip to a 3G area.
Excuse me if this has been covered elsewhere - I've looked but not seen anything similar.
It is funny, I have just recently heard people mentioning Vodaphone customizations like the splash screen. However, the only customization that I have on my 750v is the Vodaphone Business.tsk.
Yeah, i have a vodaphone and no stuff from them besides the business theme.... which i'm fine that way. That's odd, cuz i've got 66.31MB total storage memory

Does it now include MSN?
>Does it now include MSN?
No it doesn't
The only customization on my Treo 750v is the Email Setup link and the horrible gray theme. I have never seen such a lightly customized phone from a carrier, let along Vodafone. Even Vodafone device I have seen or owned has been branded to the point of instability.
If it wasn't for the Vodafone logo on the phone, you could swear you bought an unbranded device.
Same here guys,
After installing the latest Vodafone UK WM6 ROM, the only customisation I have is the Business theme, other than that, I couldn't find anything else to do with Vodafone which I found odd but believe me I'm not complaining.
Cheers.
German Vodafone - is it the same ?
Is the above mentioned for UK/ireland VOdafone branded Treo, or German as well ? i.e. will the ROM and update to WM 6 work if it is EN version?
thx
I had upgraded, reinstalled everything, all the hacks, even got the hidelogo.cab hack working. Bought a few 4GB MicroSD cards with MiniSD adapters and even THEY'RE all working.
I thought I'd died and gone to power users' heaven until I tried to install certificates. I'd imported them, and they installed just fine, they're visible when I go to the personal tab in the certificates applet. But the option in the mail settings to sign and encrypt my messages is greyed out, even though the certificates are installed.
Does anyone have any experience with this? I've searched and searched and all I've come up with are the procedures that I've already followed.
This is the last thing I really need to get working. I'm using Exchange 2007 through 4smartphone if that will help me get to the bottom of this.
As always, dear friends, any help/input is greatly appreciated!
ok, recently i found there was a new rom supplied by orange.
I was finding Mr. Gonzos ROM too slow for my liking, so i flashed the Orange Rom to my vox. This worked fine, but the problem came when i began installing things, almost everything gave me an error saying i dont have permission and things like that which leads me to believe i needed to app unlock it.
I tried Pauls app unlock from Modaco as well as another one i found somewhere (cant remember where though) and eventually installed the security configuration manager microsoft made and that wouldnt even work.
My plan now is to either find some other way to app unlock my device (any help?) or to flash an older Orange rom to it (anyone got one?) or a Vox rom (instead of E650 rom) and then try to find some way of getting the orange homescreen onto it, as i really like that feature.
so, can anyone help me do any of the following:
1: Find a new way to app unlock my vox?
2: prompt me in which direction i should look for an older E650 rom?
3: Prompt me where i could find a Vox rom and how to port the Orange homescreen to it?
Thankyou to anyone who can help
Go here to app unlock your SPV
http://spvunlock.rd.francetelecom.com/
Follow the instruction then install the *.cab in your phone
Then download this http://titourhea.free.fr/site/file/designer_SPV_C100.zip
Install SP_AllowCertificateInstall.cab on your phone, reboot
Connect your phone to your pc with active sync
Click on SDA_ApplicationUnlock, reboot
And install PHMRegedit.cab
Then follow this
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Security/Policies/Policies, Value, Menu : New Value, DWORD, Value name : 0000101b, Value data : 1, Base : Decimal, Value type : REG DWORD, and : Done.
thanks for your reply
i have just used a method that i found on modaco to use with the Virgin Lobster (HTC Monet) which worked
thank you ever so much anyway ^_^
im actually surprised how happy i am now feeling.
i am continually having problems with my mobile and whenever i fix something, i always end up with something else
im currently at the stage where im just happy i have it working again.. for now
ok, that was short lived
i have now managed to break the screen on my vox
its cracked and shows lines in every colour of the rainbow vertically
it looks rather bad :S
it turns on and seems to work ok as far as i can see, but i cant see anything on screen
im gonna open her up (its way past any warranty or anything) and see if i can poke it a bit, but i think i might have to get a new screen
i actually managed to do this by droping it about 7 inches onto a sofa, i didnt think really, but i guess no one would blame me for thinking dropping my phone onto a Soft sofa would not damage it. wrong. it bounced. it bounced strait off the sofa and onto the floor and has been broken ever since :'(
RIP Vox
Recently unlocked an AT&T HTC Surround to use it with my T-Mobile service and everything works fine except I can't receive or send MMS messages.
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me? I've googled and search everywhere and all I get is to download the Connection Setup App but apparently it doesn't exist anymore?
Also, I saw something about using Mango? But I'm confused about that.
For some reason, HTC has pulled the Connection Setup app from the marketplace (no official reason that I've seen as to why). They haven't revoked it from phones where it's already installed, but if you don't have it already you can't just install it from the HTC Apps section anymore.
If your phone is dev-unlocked (and interop-unlocked if on Mango), you can sideload Connection Setup and it might work. If not, I can't help you. Sorry!
How do I dev-unlock and interop-unlock on Mango? I downloaded Mango but have no idea how to use it on my phone.
Right now my phone is just unlocked so I can use my t-mobile sim card and service on it. I don't know what that is called?
From what I've heard is you just hard reset it and it should be fine?
@wedbaby: If you phone is on Mango already, there's no known way to interop-unlock an HTC phone without rolling it back to pre-Mango. Dev-unlock can be done by getting an official developer account ($99 unless you're a student) or through ChevronWP7 Labs (http://labs.chevronwp7.com) for $9. It has nothing to do with SIM-unlock (what you did to your phone already).
MMS issue on HTC Surround for TMobile solved
As I got no help from TMobile support team on MMS problem I had to find my own way . Here it goes:
1. Go to settings.
2.Choose cellular.
3.Set Data transmission to on.
4.Roaming- setting does not metter.
5.Here comes the trick: Network selection has to be manual, manually select TMobile.
6.Enjoy
I have three HTC Surrounds in my family. All of them have DFT Mango rom installed, and they are unlocked (sim and dev).
Let me know if it works for you guys.

6. Once it dowloads...Tap CONNECTION SETUP
7.Tap the bottom of the screen to pull out a pop-up

12. Once it shows that it has configured to the network...power your phone off n then bck on...
THEN TRY AND SEND URSELF A MESSAGE!!!...HOPE IT WORKS FOR YOU!!!
Short version: "Use the Connection Setup app". You might not have noticed, but when this thread was posted that app wasn't available in the marketplace (the OP specifically mentioned it). Thanks for necroposting, though!
Wow!!!!...thanks...smh... I apologize for givn a step by step set-up!!!...smh
And there is availability of a xap to install? And not found in the market
Connection Setup shows up in the market just fine for me... are you not on an HTC phone?
It's under the HTC Apps section.
