Media center software? - General Topics

Hello!
Does anyone of you know a media center software? I searched the forum but there are only two threads about the "htc media hub" but I think till now it isn't available?! - not sure about that
The only media center I know is the one from ahead nero (nero mobile) but this one really sucks!
Am I the only one how wants to view pictures and movies as well as listen to music with one program?
So does anyone know a media center apart from nero mobile?
If someone is out there with the HTC Media Hub or O2 Mediaplus who wants to share, it just would be great!
Thanks, Vi

Thanks Alan, but I am looking for a media center for my wizard ...
Greetings, Vi

All-in-one video + audio + images? TCPMP or, even better (if you don't mind it being commercial), CorePlayer.
Also make sure you check out my forthcoming Multimedia Bible; in there, I elaborate on ALL these questions and how the individual players compare.

Also, make sure you check out my past articles on TCPMP in the meantime if you want to know how it plays videos/audio / images.

Sounds interesting... I'll check them out
Thanks, Vi
*still waiting for a Mediacenter with a nice interface...*

It's me again...
I was playing around with TCPMP for some time today and I have an annoying problem...
Everytime I listen to music my device crashes... I mean really crashes. The screen is getting white and the sound is stuck... After about 5 seconds the device reboots...
Any suggestions =(?

Personally, I hate the crappy playlist editor. You can't sort by filename, and there's no drag-and-drop. I also dislike the massive waste of screen real-estate - Why not show the playlist instead of that huge video display? Same-same for DivX, although the playlist editor is a little better.
Winampaq has a nice playlist editor, but the last time I installed it the song titles aren't displaying properly in the player (they're fine in the playlist).
PocketMusic is nice, but I found it did something to my Bluetooth which disabled bluetooth beam receive. I made a posting about that little issue.
The hunt for the perfect player continues....
Pay!!!
I think you are on the wrong website mate.
If it ain't free its not worth downloading. especially with the chance of losing it all again if the machine goes down
And secondly i like to try a lot of software. change it arround like a spring clean
I use The standard MP3 player with some different skins, and I used the MORT player. MORT player is real good, with a nice equilizer in it
DO NOT USE ON XDA2!!!
I downloaded and tried using this pPod on my QTEK 2020. When I opened the application, it gave some error message and then did not output any sound. I logged a support call with the developers but never heard from them so I decided to uninstall it. Once I did that, the Volume on my pda would always return to zero i.e. I would turn it right up, and then go back in to find that its been turned back down again, and Media Player could no longer play mp3 files (gave some error about corrupt files). Only a hard reset fixed these issues.
Any one had any luck with this software I would be interested in knowing.

Please make sure you read all my articles - I've listed all the SHOUTcast-capable clients in the chart of my dedicated article at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350181
Maybe not the most efficient way, but the way I went after this was to install Core Player then, on my PC, go to the Shoutcast website and right click the Tune In link and select 'Save As'. I then named the .pls file after the station. Once I saved a bunch of stations I was interested in, I copied the (very small) .pls files to my device (AT&T Fuze). I now just launch Core Player, Click Menu, Click Open File, and select the .pls file for the station I want to listen to.
It is a bit of hassle to gather up all the .pls files you want, but this works very well for me. I work in a cubicle at work where our proxy blocks everything enjoyable, so with my HTC ear buds and my phone plugged into USB for power, my work day is much more enjoyable with music to listen to.
Edit: I just tried jamespaulritter's link above, and it works fabulously. I just click Tune In on the station I want, and it goes right to Core Player and gets down to business. Thanks, jamespaulritter!
Kinoma Play
Comes with SHOUTcast , and Live365 in the services menu.
I went ahead and bought Kinoma Play. Holy cow, man! This thing is the holy grail of portable entertainment!
Yeah, it is really versitile and I love the guide content. I just wish the menu system worked better. back, back, back, back to get to the main menu gets old.
Thanks! love this site

Go to my thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362685 . You will need the TCMP 0.72RC!-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.cab.zip and the FlashVideoBundle.cab, just install both to your main memory or both to you SD Card. Also the YouTubePlayer will work on your Omnia. What about your DivX player or maybe flash player # 7.........!

Which TCPMP/Player works best with the Omnia i900. As you already know, I have two TCPMP/Players in the above link thread, the TCPMP 0.72RCI-ARM-PPC-recomp-03-cab.zip, this is the one that I believe works best with the Omnia i900. Install this player and the FlashVideoBundle.cab both to the main memory or both to your SD Card, soft reset your device. If that does not work, then try the TCPMP/Player version 0.81RC1 and the FlashVideoBundle.cab install both to the main memory or both to your SD Card, soft reset your device. We will get it to work.
I don't have my Omnia yet, because I don't know which carrier will be carrying it here in the USA. I'm hearing a lot of crazy stuff, like AT&T and Apple are about to go to war, if Mr. Sam Man Omnia i900 comes to AT&T USA. Now, I'm hearing T-Mobile USA will be carrying Mr. Sam Man's Samsung Omnia i900 later this year, named something else, but with the same features as the Samsung Omnia i900, when TMO breaks out it's new 3g network. So I really want you to get things up and running, before I purchase my Samsung Omnia i900. Another thing I found out is they are 3 version of the Samsung Omnia i900, the i900, i900V, and the i908. Mr. Sam Man is got it going on............!

recomp-03.cab, will only work to start TCPMP, but not play anything. if I go to video options and click 'nil' so that it only plays the sound, then yeah - can 'listen' to youtube, but how about watching it? As soon as I go to video 'direct draw' or some other driver - It crashes (exists the program) or crashes the whole device! [the screen slowly turns to black and fades in and out, so must shut down device - it is like frying my screen! I have the omnia i900. Can you you help me with a fix please?? please? [apparently there is a problem with WM6.1 and TCPMP compatibility] because i also had a Fujitsu T830, which had WM5, and TCPMP worked excellent with the flashvideo bundle. I need 'idiot's instructions' to the fix please! post responses with .cabs attached, much appreciated!!

i900 built-in streaming player works on wi-fi connections
New Development! I just discovered that the omnia's built-in 'Streaming Player' will work on the mobile version of the youtube site! But only confirmed working on the wi-fi connection. What you do is you go to the mobile youtube site and click the video and it will automatically start in Streaming Player. Then once you are in the streaming player, hit on the bottom 'menu' then options and then 'connect via' - select "The Internet"!
I also installed the vtap thingy, but how do you actually watch direct feeds from other websites (not the just the content provided into vtap)? I need super idiot's instructions with attachments of the .cabs please!

Bluetooth A2DP annoying problem with WMP/TF3D & S2P

Hi all,
I have an O2 stereo BT headset which is 1 year old. I used it with my prophet previously just fine with S2P. No problems when I press play etc.
Since using it on my Touch Pro, when I press play on it, both WMP/tf3d player would play simulatneously. I have to stop s2p. It is annoying to say the least. I would like to continue to use S2P than wmp/tf3d.
How come I'm having this conflict & what to do about it?
Thanks
Posted it here because I thought it may be a general question rather than a problem with S2P.
I have the same problem...
I am having the same problems and from the research it looks like the profile for the blue tooth is set to always call up Window Media. I have been using Mort Player with no issues on an older model S9 motorola stereo headset. Now with the new one no go!!! always calls up Windows Media.
I have tried different media players - looks like there was a version of pocket player 4 that bypassed this issue and cut off Windows media player. Unfortunately it jsut doesn't work for my Touch Pro 6.1 stock rom.
i am thinking if anyone out there can make this fix available it must be the XDA people...
Anyone have suggestions, hack, new profile that can fix this annoying issue??? Please???
i thought no body else had this issue but i'm sure other people have it as well.
thanks for the research. tried looking in the registry for a2dp profiles and wmp, but no luck.

Best alternative music player.

I like the music player in Sense and I also quite like the look of S2P (although the lack of any treble and bass controls means it's a non-starter for me) but I'm looking for a decent alternative with a good finger-friendly UI. I have tried numerous other media players but hardly any have a suitable interface for non-stylus use. In these I include PocketPlayer and PocketTunes. I tried Nitrogen but for some reason the slightest adjustment on any of the frequencies results in distortion.
Any suggestions?
I'm just up to my neck in suggestions here!
I use on an everyday basis Pocketplayer from conduit. It's very good and full of options: podcast, equalizer, internet radio, media guide. It's not free but it worth it.
I tried that out but it's clearly designed for a stylus. It also didn't look right on 6.5.x and the bottom of it's window sat over the bottom toolbar. I was thinking more along the lines of a music application specific to the HD2 or suitable for WVGA capacitive devices at least.
I was looking at Nemo player on the Android. Something like that would be ideal.
I'd also like a good music player that has an ecxellent equalizer because the audiobooster keeps being buggy
I remember seeing something somewhere about SRS WOW or something like that, i don't know if that's just an equalizer or a media player, some clarification would be nice.
I would strongly recommend SRS WOW as an alternative to Audiobooster. This would allow you to use S2P (or any other stand alone player) and maintain high end equalization.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584626&highlight=srs
Why don't you try the finger-friendly version of TCPMP?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634951
Worked great when I tried it on the floor model HD2 at T-Mobile.

I don't rate SRS WOW at all, I have used it previously on the HD2 and other Windows Mobile devices in times past. I'm quite an audiophile and, despite tinkering with it for hours, I couldn't get a sound I liked with it, eventually getting one frequency sounding good resulted in other frequencies becoming overpowering or near silent. I also think the 3d effect is ridiculous.
Without any hesitation... Kinoma Play
It's really the best music player. Sound quality is perfect and the interface is absolutely amazing.

It's a paying soft, but it's worth the price.

How is it's equalizer?
I tried Kinoma Player, it seems to be a jack of all trades master of none to me. It also looks a bit crap and blurry on the HD2 as they have no WVGA skins for it. Not overly impressed and not what I'm looking for.

This has no sense. You are saying that you are looking for a decent alternative with a good finger-friendly UI.
Obviously Kinoma has probably the most finger-friendly interface of all. You may not love it for some reasons but I'm pretty sure it's better than S2P for instance.
Very difficult to understand what you are looking for exactly. Finally I don(t understand the purpose of your thread. Just test all the audio players available on the market and chose the one you like. It does not deserve a specific thread. That's all mate.
I use Nitrogen
Hi there really interesting post!
I need a good player too, cause 70% of time spent with Hd2 is for play music
but it's difficult to find a serious and stable solution, they seem all to young software..
htc audiomanger
+beautiful and default
-no alphabet scrolling bar, difficult to import playlist without wmp11-12, it search for all mp3 on storage, ringtones too (solved with reg twaek)
Pocket Player
+the best in general,scrolling ,playlist,nowplaying,albumart.. (haven't tryed with 10 gigas jet)
-some bug-now fixed skin on 6.5.x-, i can't open my mediamonkey playlist after sync!!i'm trying to solve but.. damn. and waiting 4.2!
S2p
+overall, best free alternative, good extended options with S2U2, it read mediamonkey imported playlist with no problem
-false now playing list, too laggy interface on hd2..
Nitrogen
+so nice..
-but so young too , no playlist, buggy excution ...
Kinoma Play
+ it seems to have a really good a stable base system
- but music it's only part of too many services, already installed on hd2..
This is my experience, there are also other player but i think the upper are the best. The problem is that i still not have a definitive solution for mp3...
An mp3player must be able to import playlists from pc for me, i have too music and it's unusefull play all the imported tracks toghether..or recreating them manually on device..
Solving sync for PP playlist could be for me the perfect solution, but i 'm not finding ways ..I there someone that can help?
When i sync playlists with media monkey, it transfer playlists written with wrong addresses info. The player read welll all titles but when it try to open a track, PP search for playlist addresses with 'Storage Card\artist\album....' while the imported playlists from MM have just 'artist\album....' written in . Anyone experieced and solve that?

The purpose of the thread is obvious but I will point it out anyway for your benefit. I was hoping people would make suggestions regarding music players I hadn't used, for example you suggested Kinoma and I tried it out and found it to be wanting. Just because my opinion of it differs from yours it doesn't equate to it making no sense. You said it's interface was 'absolutely amazing'. I disagree with that.
Your comment on this not deserving a specific thread is somewhat unusual given the type of forum this is. Perhaps you would like to specify exactly what subjects deserve to have threads and what doesn't? I'd say this thread is perfectly valid for the reasons pointed out above.

What surprises me is that there seems to be no need for Bookmark or a similar function. I know that Pocketplayer has this option. For me that is certainly a must. As for the quality of playback whatever the player it will never be like a stereo set.
The most ideal for me is a mediaplayer what can play all the formats, music, video, photo and E-books. is completely configurable. Has an excellent equalizer and Bookmark function. But like all good things in life, they are not within reach
regards, fred
I find Pocket Player to be the best music player for WM. It was certainly not developed with finger friendliness in mind, but it can certainly be very easily used on the HD2. It has great features and despite some bugs (related to WM 6.5) it is certainly better than S2P (which I believe to be just an iPhone copy - I don't like that).
