For a while now my universal has been doing really strange when it comes to seeing my text messages. All the folders of "text messages" have disappeared, so no starting a message, saving it to drafts and retrieving it, and I only get a folder called IPM.root. Every once and a while, my inbox will reappear when I press the message-key on my keyboard, but if I want to browse folder, to go to email for instance, I get IPM.root again and no messages.
I've tried various things, like installing the trial of Flexmail, but that did not help, I couldn't see anything. Interestingly, Pocketbreeze is able to pick up my inbox messages in the tab. I've been looking around the "windows" folder, but haven't found any easy solutions. I figure something went wrong in the system, but I'm not a programmer that can dive into the registry and write code.
Anyone have any ideas? All help would be welcome.
Thanks

Apologies if someone has posted this before - couldn't find anything.
I'd like my Tornado/SP5 Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone to only display the words "text messages" when there is an unread message - with outlook mail, if there is an unread message it shows, but if they have all been read it disappears from the today screen.
Don't know anything about changing the registry but think I read somewhere that this will be the solution.
Has anyone got the patience to describe what I need to do?
Cheers
try this:
http://filexoom.com/files/2006/11/7/42820/oldSAP SMSPlugIn Label.cab
you cant change the registry entry manually because it will revert back to the original "Text Messages (0)" value
execute the file i sent and then use space " " as your label then save and hide the application.
It's not perfect yet but i will update it soon.
Thanks for this...worked great to being with but needs re-setting up regularly...look forward to the update you talk about...cheers
this is what i got:
http://oldsap.blogspot.com/2006/12/smsintercept-freeware-smartphone.html
you can add a shortcut link to your startup folder so that it will automatically launch the applications when you reboot.
I have been working on my own firmware based on the AT&T 1.61 firmware, and I have run into an interesting problem. When I access the messages application, what used to be a "Text Messages" inbox (in some of my older ROMs) has become a "Messages" inbox. However, I did not install or build Arcsoft MMS into my firmware. Even more interesting is that there is an option to create a new MMS, but when it is selected, nothing happens. Has anyone else run into this before or does anyone have any suggestions for me?
My unfounded guess is that the problem has something to do with some file in the OperatorPKG folder (I only have the mxip files and the AudioPara file).
Within the AT&T Rom you have a "Messages" Folder. This is for system Messages such as when you register OTA for Exchange/Blackberry service. It was always there in the folders, but it did NOT show up on the Account Selection page. Since the Text/MMS is woven into arcsoft you are left with only the System message account dubbed "Messages".
This is why you also at times will see posts about people saying HTC Home says they have messages, but Exchange/BBerry is empty.
I am wondering.. i recieve quite a few emails throughout the day and at some point i like to go back to specific mail i recieved earlier and re-read it.. when i open the inbox to show all my mail, i am wondering if there was a way to change the way i view the actual inbox on my device? I am looking for something similar to the blackberry look where it only takes up one line instead of a few that way i can see more emails in the inbox without having to scroll down?
Thanks for any help.
i just looked through the menus and didn't see anything :\
Yeah unfortunately theres no option to change it.. I thought there may be some kind of tweak or hack that you can you perform to change it to some kind of list format
Email Inbox View
I heard there are alternative e-mail programs you can run on your device that will give you more of a " outlook feel ", with pre-view pane, etc
Anybody know what they are called and where to find them, I think something like that would solve everybodies problem
profimail and flexmail are 2 mail-clients i know. both are commercial but worth their price
my friend has a diamond on sprint and i saw his message box was sort of zoomed out and smaller. any idea on how to get something like that?
EDIT: FOUND IT! Go to start, settings, system, screen, text size and change the text size to make more emails show up in your inbox not a fix for the issue at hand but it made me happy
'lo.
Apologies, I'm a bit of a noob around here. I asked about this in IRC and I got a few half-answers. Essentially, I'm one of those guys who keeps logs of most things. That said, I want to remove the text messages from my phone, but have them backed up and readable on my computer.
The reason for wanting to remove them has to do with the fact that someone suggested that the 1500+ text messages are (for some silly reason... text... of all things) slowing down my Fuze. This would make sense, since I noticed that using Mystic Series, my phone has slowed down over time... and since text messages (non-graphical in nature) are all that I've gained, this theory would make sense.
I've used PIM Backup... but how do I backup text messages to my computer where I'm able to read them?
Many thanks!
if you have a mac you could use missing sync which has that option while on the pc side i believe theres another software for it. But you could also use vito sms chat to make a complete backup of each conversation thats readable by a computer...
hey im looking for this too, but for windows
ive already researched jeyo mobile extender and pocketexport
which one of those is better and is there anything else?
tried out pocketexport, wasn't able to get it to function. Was going to do Vito SMS Chat, but didn't get around to it.
I ended up using Microsoft MyPhone. I happened to stumble upon the SMS "Archive to Internet" feature. Unfortunately, you can't just select "Archive All". You have to go by pages of messages (I had to "Archive All" 122 pages). However, everything is backed up in a readable format online, and it removes it automatically from your phone, giving you the option to restore later.

One question. Does it put them back in there original threaded format?
Have you looked into Dashwire? It allows you to sync almost all of your phone content (or whatever you select) to a free online service. Text messages, contacts, pictures and videos, etc. I have been using it for a bit now and am pretty happy with it. If I can find a better option that will allow me to do this with a local machine I will take it as I would prefer to have everything on my own systems (I,too, am one who likes to keep copies of everything) and I have not yet tried to find a way to move the archives from the Dashwire service to my home systems.
The service definitely is not an ideal solution but it works for now.
myphone.microsoft.com. its awesome. use it.
Hi,
I have an issue when I try to send a txt message, when I type "T" in the "To" field looking for a friend of mines name "Tony" I get all the "Tony's" listed as suggestions except the one I am after.
I have deleted all the contacts, then synced with Outlook, that did not cure it. Then I deleted that particular contact, then re added it back manually checking every piece of info was in the correct format but it still does not appear as one of the suggestions.
I can get round this by tapping the "To" then selecting from the "Contacts" but I cannot understand why it does not offer the Tony I am after as a suggestion like all the other Tony's in my contacts.
Any ideas?
Regards
