There are several sources for unlocking:
first contact the operator where it locked to, some give the code for free (T-Mobile Germany.
contact jockyw2001 here for reasonable offers (usually cheaper than commerical sites)
compare prices of unlocking services and the way they work. The most complete unlocking comes form the guys at http://www.imei-check-uk as they also CID unlock the device (check with them to be sure).
I bought a 2nd hand unlocked treo 750. at the phone it's printed cingular but when turning off the phone it show vodafone screen. I believe my firmware is not the latest. if I want upgrade my treo at palm website, which category should I chose? vodafone, cingular or unlocked phone? will I make my treo to locked again if I upgrade.

You should be able to go to Palm website and download the desktop updater exe. that is made for Cingular/ATT phones. I believe they will ask you to enter the IMEI number before download which will identify the phone as a Cingular/ATT phone.
Your phone will not be locked once you do the upgrade and I believe you are refering to SIM unlock correct ?
So just go ahead and go for it and do what you gotta do

Long story...
I have an MDA VARIO III which i bought on contract about a year ago with T-Mobile! I then had it on a T-Mobile pay as you go sim for a while after the contract was over! I wanted to change my sim to 02 but the phone was locked so i bought a unlocker for my phone called "KAISER UNLOCKER" this totally messed up my phone making it lose volume, etc. I wanted to get it back to normal so that it would at least work on T-Mobile pay as you go so i used a flasher program which was ment to remove the "KAISER UNLOCK"! But nope it did the opposite the phone now wont turn on and only a green light comes on at the top! Either there is no operating system or what i dont have a clue ????
Also the phone when plugged into a pc makes a bleap noise but can not be picked up to check out files on the MDA III
Does any MDA EXPERT OUT THERE HAVE ANY IDEAS????
Sounds like you trashed your boot loader by not cid unlocking and flashing hard spl first.
hi all we have just bought a ameo 7500 witch was supposed to be unlocked from ebay.
well as usual with ebay iy was not unlocked but still on tmobile.
anyone with any ideas how to unlock this phone without bricking it ?????

Yes there is very easy unlocking tools in the athena upgrading section
