cant filter my sim contacts in WM6.. anyyone have a solution? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

I like to have all my contacts saved onto my phone so I can add pictures and other info to the contact infromation that it doesnt allow you to do if it is just on the sim card... I also like to keep all my contacts on my sim card in case the phone crashes and I need to pull the sim and switch phones.. here is my problem. Since I have my contacts on both my phone and my sim, they show duplicates in the contacts list. Is there any way to filter out the sim card contacts so I dont have 2 of everyone(1 on phone, 1 on sim)??
fyi: Im using WM6 vanila

Try this
I think it inserts a registry hack called "ShowSim" to 0.
I donĀ“t remember, where to edit it by your own, so use this cab-file.
Or use Sktools - OK I like the program.

Go to
HKCU/Control Panel/Phone
ShowSim "1" will show the sim contacts "0" will hide sim contacts

doesn't show up twice for me, maybe it's cause I have a dash though.

When you change the registry and reset the phone it somehow reverts back... Any idea how I can sort this out?

Hi, I'm new and I have the same problem with my HTC Touch Cruise. I have just tried to edit the registry changing the value 1 to 0 in the string HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Control Panel / Phone but nothing.......after the soft reset the contacts are always visible.
Rstein.HideSimInstall.CAB or hide_sim.cab would resolve my problem?
Thanks and have a nice day

Ok so I used your cab file and everything worked except now I want my SIM contacts to show so I can't figure out how to do it. I uninstalled the .cab file and deleted everything that had anyting to do with it and still can't get my SIM contacts to show back up. Any suggestions? Thanks.

How can we go about making a .cab file that shows the SIM contacts then?
Is this just a simple registry tweak that we can do?

I know a lot of people have come from stock ROMs or cooked ROMs to this vanilla one, and are missing some things they consider essential, so let's make people's lives easier, and stick everything you need here.
I'll start the ball off with these:
Unlock Extended ROM, you can now access your EXT ROM, just in case you had some nifty apps you wanted to access after this update, or just use the space for something else.
Smartskey & OmapClock, I have set the ini set to run the cpu at 264mhz.
Unzip it to your device, and run the smartskey utility, it will add a shortcut to your startup itself, and that's it done You can always add a shortcut to OmapClock into your start menu if you just want to down clock or check what it's running at.

Removing the system tray WM5 & WM6!!

ah ha amen!
I've searched for months for an answer to removing the system tray on WM5 & WM6
Edit your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ HTC/ Trayapplt
Export the Trayapplt string just to be safe you can merge it back if you change your mind.
Once exported delete the Trayapplt string completely and then soft reset your device.
System tray gone and the space is usable
Enjoy
You could have just removed the Init_Tray.lnk in the windows startup folder.
I afraid for most people that doesnt work as they dont even have that link file. I think the difficulty with the system tray is that different people have different circumstances. Some people can remove the int_tray link but If you search the web your'll see a lot of people desperate for a alternative method as they do not have this file on their devices.
It maybe the case that my method may not work for everybody but until someone produces a stable app to remove the system tray we'll keep searching for the best way individually to achieve this.
Sorry, didn't realize that that link didn't exist on all WM devices, but I haven't owned every device to know that. There are however programs that force the system tray such as DotFreds task manager and MyMobiler, etc, which even removing the Init_Tray.lnk doesn't fix because the icons will create their own system tray. Does your fix for it stop them from doing that? If it does, then I might just have to try your fix out for myself.
So far ive been running this setup for 2 days.
I use xcpuscaler which 110% uses a system tray icon whilst running. Ive also minimised many programs and the tray has never reappeared. Im not garenteeing this will work but I do know that its worked perfectly for me.
I hope this helps and if you export the reg as I sugested if the tray doesnt stay hidden for you for some reason then you can always merge it back
Hmm, my kaiser doesn't even have that key so I guess I'm out of luck there. I'm not sure if my wizard does or not, I'm working on cooking a new ROM for it and the ROM I have on it now is kind of messed up. I'll have to check it out when I get my new one cooked though.
fair enough, it seems to be very device related, im talking intensively to a strong programmer to try and sort out something permemantely.
Im running a XDA Orbit (Artemis).
Willl post any findings here
sorry it didnt work for you

No TrayApplt in my registry, unfortunately. Still can't figure out how to remove the tray bar on my Vario II (WM5) permanently. Whatever I tried, nothing worked to my satisfaction..
Edit: No Init_Tray.lnk either! Still looking for solutions, every solution is very welcome as long as it works...

My Tilt doesn't have that key either. I don't use the tray, have it disabled, but Task Manager always creates it again, until I exit Task Manager.
My Wizard doesn't have that key either.
Programs I have found so far that may cause the system tray to appear:
- Dotfred's Task Manager
- My Mobiler
- Pocket Informer
- SOTI's Pocket PC Controller (or similar: I don't recall its name)
- SPB Pocket Plus
All of these can be made to not create a system tray through their respective settings or otherwise, I believe. Currently I have MyMobiler, Dotfred's, Pocket Informer and Pocket Plus installed, and I have no system tray on my Kaiser. The above registry hack didn't work for me.

interesting problem on tilt?

hello everyone, long time member of howardforums and just joined xda and find some very usefull info, thank you all. i ran into a small problem last night. i have a tilt , not flashed but i have installed the htc home screen and everything worked great. last night i tryed to install the touchflo program found in a few places in this forum and it didn't work but thats when the interesting stuff happen....after deleting all touchflo cab files and restarting the tilt every time at startup it gives me a warning " FTouchFlo.exe cannot be open, its either not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components can not be found. try reinstalling or restoring file." ????? and now the icon that used to be under the clock for favorite people that would send me their pics so i can just one touch dial is GONE? tryed installing the cab for the htc homescreen again but the same....there is a music short cut that lets me launch the music player that wasn't there before? i downloaded the htc home plugin customisor and even when i set for 6 icons on the bottom of the clock it still just gives me 5?
at the end of the day i would like to have the touchflo program but its not a big deal if i dont, i would however really like to have the pic dialer back on my screen as its really convinient to dial my fav people with it.thanks in advance
try this for the favorite people tab

Keys are in the registry. To access and change the registry you need a registry viewer/editor. There are many but for simple "everyday" use this is a good one:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Be careful though delete the wrong things and you'll end up needing a hard reset.

PHM downloads as a .MSI windows installer. So it will not install properly unless you have your device connected via active sync when you run the downloaded file. So connect your device via usb cable. Let active sync connect and update. Then while still connected run the installer download. During the process a message will pop up on your device. If a choice is offered it will be ok to install to storage card if you have one.
Cheers for now.

SIM Contacts Vs Phone Contacts

Hello all,
I would always like to have a backup of all my HTC contacts in my SIM card too but the moment if I copy even a single contact into the SIM card, it starts showing up under the contacts menu and then I have duplicate contacts which is kinda distracting and annoying.
Is there a tweak or some setting to avoid the SIM contacts from being visible in the HTC contacts menu but at the same time allow me to backup all my phone contacts into the SIM card.
Thanks
Vivek
Check Advance configuration tool (Advanced_Configuration_Tool_v3.3.cab)..
There's a setting in it for this.
I think there's also one in Diamond tool (Diamond Tweak 0.5.3_English.cab)
But not too sure about this one.
Thanks funnysam for your reply.
Could you also post a link for both the softwares you mentioned.
Are they availble on this site ?
Thanks
or you can go to the registry and do hkcu/controlpanel/phone and set ShowSIM to 0

I personal only use phone contacts. Since my phone gets sync with my pc about every other day I always have a up to date bacc up. Not sure why you would want to same tot he sim card. You would proably even be better using PHMbaccup and have everything copied to you mcrosd card on what ever schedule you would like it to be.

In my case I have a dumbphone I can use for a backup, and I use it occasionally. So having the contacts on the SIM for me makes them appear in that phone instead of trying to update my contacts in that phone to keep it current.

Is there a possibility to put "my info" in my HD2?

In my old PDA (Dell Axim) there was a possibillity that the owner of the device could type into a screen, called "My Info", his name, (e-mail)address, phone number and a personal message that said (i.e.): "If found, please return this device to owner (reward included) - Thank you!".
That screen would immediately pop up when anyone would start up the device but it was still locked by the user. So basicly, the finder could not do anything with the device, other than trying to format it completely if he would have kept it to use it himself.
Unfortunately, my HTC HD2 does not have the "my info'' possibility; at least, not that I know off. So, if I would lose my device, an honoust finder would not know who would be the rightfull owner to return it to.
Is any of you familliar with the possibility to make this possible on my device? Maybe by installing some extra software or so?
I hope I will hear from you shortly.
Thanking you in advance.
Best regards,
Robert,

am i mistaken or is there not a contact card in the contacts for "my info" including name, address and the like
Go to contacts tab, click more and there you'll see a contact card 'me' (Ik in dutch)
There you can put in this info

5. Enable Hidden Owner Info in All Settings\Personal Folder
Go to HKLM\ControlPanel\Owner and change Hide from 1 to 0 and then reset. You can now enter your name you want to register old apps.
Karsten
Or use BsB Tweaks and turn on the option "Owner Info"
Well, there IS a "me"-card in contacts for my info, the only problem is that this info would never be seen by the person that would find the lost HD2 device when it is locked with its password...

You could always make up a skin with your personal info on it. Make it 480 x 800 and .cab it, and make it your lock screen.

I really would like to try your suggestion, only I have trouble understanding your path... What is "HKML" and how do I get there? Is it correct from me to understand that I will find the "All Settings\Personal Folder" in "HKLM\ControlPanel\Owner"? And what do you mean by "you want to register your apps"?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Ok what he means is to use a reg editor program like Total Commander or PHM reg Edit to change the reg key. Here is a cab that will change the reg for you. when it comes to reg some Paid programs it requires you to enter your name or email Addy in the owner info.
jbirdeagle
Here is an easy way to put your "My Info" on your HD2 in case it gets lost.
On a notepad or whatever, write your name and phone number, then take a picture of it and save it to "locked phone wallpaper". It can be nicely decorated or plain. I was really worried about not finding that option (old phone Wing had this) saw locked phone wall paper under settings, personalize.
