If HTC release this device. it is only preview I think, not real marketed product... correct me, If I am wrong

smaller size, nice turning over screen, official WM6, GPS, extra memory, fast processor, much better look, better camera
enough reasons to buy this phone, altough maybe not enough reasons to upgrade from a TyTn
Phone will be available in Europe Q2-Q3 2007, they will have to produce it, to compete with the new Glofiish phones from Eten.
HSxPA
should have faster HSDPA plus HSUPA (for uploads) as well I read here http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=733
I don't think it's lighter than the Hermes though at 160g with battery ...
This is not the device I saw the one I saw was closer to a herald than this and no pop up display at all
So Buying Vario II (hermes) now Not worth ?

Same here; check these pics: http://translate.google.com/transla...&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=/language_tools
Im fairly sure this is a dopod or cingular version of this phone, if you look at the side shot you can clearly see that key 5 above the scroll wheel is marked as PTT. we are the only company I can think of using PTT in our HTC phones. also the styling is very similar to the herm100 that dopod and cingular use - the video call cam.
when I see HTC again I will ask but I doubt they will answer I was told to expect these phones in spetember in the USA. however a sample I saw was very similar execpt no super duper keyboard. and a non functional GPS
Am i blind or does that nice upgraded 3MP camera seem to be lacking a flash??

not sure what provider version it is.. but cingular is due to get the kaiser and should be available late Q3 or Q4... and cingular isnt the only one that will be offering PTT.. OrangeUK is implementing the kodiak PTT system also. Also it will be likely that cingular will leave the front camera since they are implementing the "Video Share" but i dont know for sure if they are leaving it there.

true and I like the design too...but I have to say, with my HTC Wizard, I never used it on a desk...and never thought of doing so...let's wait another 3 months so we can play with it
Any solid predictions on street price? I'm hoping it wouldn't be too much, and not much more than what the TyTN goes for now...that could be asking for too much huh.

I am a TYTN II owner and I'm well chuffed with that device. I had a Touch Pro delivered today and I have to say I'm thoroughly underwhelmed. The performance seems pretty sluggish and the browser rendering experience is poor. So I have to say right now mine will either go back to the supplier or will end up on Ebay. It's a shame as I really wanted to like the experience on this device.
Oh the irony! Was your TYTN II as good on its first day as it is today. I have just joined today so as to get help with my new Touch Pro, when it arrives.
Why are you on this forum if you cant wait for others to help with any issues you have discovered with the Touch Pro?
Sorry to hear that!!

It's not a case of not being bothered I just have to say that the experience is poor in my opinion and others who also have lived the windows mobile dream. I really like the hardware but hate the software experience and at 500 quid I'm not willing to gamble on a device experience I don't like, I'll run with my gut on this one.

TouchFlo is relatively OK performance wise.
Going under the covers to Windows Mobile 6.1 is where it starts to fall apart.
The Browser in use is Opera and yes when connected to HSDPA on a variety of sites including www.bbc.co.uk/news, www.wikipedia.org, www.coolsmartphone.com and others.......

TMobile and 3.6 (although in reality that never means more than 800Kps).
I don't think it's connection speed, I think it's the conversion/rendering of the pages into a "desktop browser" format.

Just general performance really. Watching this piece of hardware struggle under Windows Mobile 6.1 trying to keep up with going from landscape to portrait, the aforementioned browser issues and just general speed brings a tear to my eye. Again I really wanted to like the experience but I have to be honest to my first impressions and they are not good.
Wouldn't theoretical maximum for 3,6 MBps be 0,45Mbps, half a meg per second. Also when you state that "when you go under the covers", do you find that you were dissappointed with the WM6.1 OS?? Didn't you already say you were coming from TYTN II, which means you knew perfectly what to wait for. Why so disappointed then.
..and also, don't lose hope just yet. It was only released yesterday. No software is yet well optimized for it, nor the OS is optimized. So it will improve greatly. Just you wait.

Because this fine piece of hardware is sluggish under Windows Mobile 6.1. This is obviously only my own opinion of my own experience, your mileage may vary but bottom line is I'm not happy with how this thing runs.

T-Mobile vanilla Windows Mobile 6.0 ROM and it's just good. (Yes I've used non-vanilla, ROMS on other devices e.g TYTN I and seen 'em improve performance.) Maybe I'm just not willing to live that pain on a software config a hardware manufacturer has released directly.

Sorry I did not get the point here. Is it too slow or is it not able to render the websites correctly?
I'm currently using the leaked Diamond version of Opera on my TyTN and so far I'm quite happy with it. The higher display resolution might of course consume some extra CPU power, but on the other hand the Touch Pro CPU itself is more powerful then the TyTN one.
It's always difficult to compare different user experiences because everyone has different expectations, so I would really appreciate if you could go a little bit more into detail.
http://www.intomobile.com/2008/09/18/att-blackberry-bold-delayed-until-november.html
According To Some leaked info from intomobile, the release date of the HTC TOUCH PRO AKA the Att Fuze, will be released october 23!!!!!
WOOT!!!!!! =D
thank God! my 8525 is on it's last legs, hopefully i can get another month out of it
Just a little bump =D
Now i'm split on whether to jump on the Sprint version, or wait it out for the ATT version...
Fuze = Touch Pro? Is there much difference between the Touch Pro and the TouchHD? Just wondering. I'm on AT&T and have a tilt now and have pretty much given up on the proper display drivers ever coming out. I'm hearing about TouchHD, and now about Fuze... just wondering if I should wait till TouchHD is available from AT&T...
The fuze is the Touch Pro, the TouchHD probably won't be out for a while as it was just now publicly announced by HTC.
theres a whole thread titled the fuze i guess it got lost in the jumble somewhere
but im another person whose 8525 wants to give up so the quicker the fuze shows up the better

To recap:
Fuze = Touch Pro, except AT&T is getting rid of the front camera, adding a PTT button (below the volume buttons), and may or may not change the keyboard layout (symbols instead of numbers on the top row). Plus some software is removed (but apparently can be added back in from various ROMs/CABs).
Touch HD (vs Touch Pro) = larger screen (3.8") with higher resolution (800x480), no keyboard, built-in 3.5mm headphone jack, 5mp camera but no flash; most other specs are the same. There is no info on if/when AT&T might be getting the TouchHD. But the TouchHD is listed as a UMTS900/2100 device, so there's a good chance that there will be a delay before AT&T gets a UMTS850/1900 version, just like the delay with the Touch Pro/Fuze.
Of course, nothing is really set in stone until we see some official announcements, so it's up to you how you want to play your cards

Yes, true. But that would be a lot more speculative. After all, AT&T could also win over more customers by offering two top-end devices side-by-side (for all the people who have been wanting an iPhone-like device but haven't switched to AT&T because they either need WM or don't want iTunes).
But then again, AT&T is having issues with its network so it may be smart for them not to bite off more than they can chew.
Fuze it is then, thanks for the info. Hopefully that PTT button can be remapped to something else. No sad loss on the front camera, no vid call here anyway. The HD really looks like what I want, but if its going to be a long time or possibly never... Hoping with all the great talent here working on the Raphael there will be some great ROMs to replace the stock AT&T one with. The ROM listed in my sig will probably be the last ROM I download for my tilt.

I hate the title of this thread, the Fuze was never ANNOUNCED by AT&T, so it's completely misleading.

There will be loads of information on how to flash, I'm sure it will be essentially the same as in the diamond and kiaser forum. Do some reading before you get it so you'll be all prepared.
^^^Well, regardless, it was not announced by anyone but bloggers that saw the same sheet we did.
Here's my prediction: I think AT&T is going to ANNOUNCE the Fuze on October 23rd, 1 week after Sprint releases it (exclusivity rights?)... Then RELEASE it November 16-22, at least 1 month after Sprint. I don't really think it's reasonable to expect a release date of 10/23 based on a marketing road map we got a peek at, so that's all I'm going to venture a guess at for now. Oh, and for some reason I don't think it's coming in 5 days, like someone said before.

I'm gonna have to disagree and say that a blogger posting these dates would constitute and announcement, even if it turns out to be incorrect. I heard the 29th of september too, but i don't think that person knew what they were talking about. I think the site referenced by the OP is far more reliable. I am definitely hoping for an October release however, as i'd like to have mine before i head on vacation over thanksgiving.
Get to use 3G on my phone for the first time...
The person who predicted a release at the end of September has long since abandoned that position; maybe you missed the thread, but when the person who claimed his brother is an AT&T VP said that the actual date was 10/15, the September guy agreed that that was pretty close to the actual date (which, he said, had changed shortly before); this was a couple of weeks ago. Whether it actually changed then or the earlier information was just wrong, I don't have any clue, but AFAIK, no one is now forecasting a release this month.
In any event, as for me, I'm going to wait at least until 11/3, when Sony Ericsson has promised news on the release of the Xperia X1 in North America. Although I think the Touch Pro is a better device in most ways, the extra resolution on the X1 is really decisive for me. If that announcement includes AT&T, I'll wait for the X1. If not, I'll probably pick up a Fuze as soon thereafter as it's available. (What I'd really rather have is the Touch HD, with the same resolution as the X1 and without the extra bulk of a keyboard that I'll never use, but given the usual time frame on HTC devices, I really don't want to wait until next spring/summer before replacing my current phone.)
So im looking to upgrade my phone soon. I currently use a Sidekick ID (Yes yes I know). Been a long time reader of the XDA forums so im looking for some expert advice from well, you guys(the experts). From my understanding the Tilt and Wing are pretty much the exact same phone with different carriers with the exception that the 8925(tilt) has double the ram speed and a faster cpu than the Herald(wing) as well as gps. Anyway the OBVIOUS choice is (Or at least I thought it was) the 8925(tilt). I proceeded to do some more research on the phone and soon discovered the Video Driver\No Hardware accelaration problem on those phones which was a huge turn off for me once I found out about it. As far as the Herald(wing) goes, it is obviously alot slower than the 8925(tilt) due to the slow cpu ,and freeing up memory is something that seems to be more of a tedious task that you have to do every so often. A friend of mine owns a Herald(wing) and he uses the OpenTouch Rom by Ttrans1 which is awesome and is definitely better/speedier than the stock rom. Anyway it seems to me that no matter which phone I get, I am taking a loss in some form or another. So I am here to ask you guys, would I be better off with a slow phone WITH proper video hardware acceleration (Herald/Wing) or a much faster Phone WITHOUT proper video hardware acceleration (Tilt/8925). Any advice, comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

But black looks better
.. wait .. why? Wait a month or two and use the upgrade on a newer phone (HTC Rapheal). Or, just upgrade to the HTC Dream if you don't mind an O.S. switch as it has the larger screen.
Trust me, you're going to be disappointed if you do the Tilt/etc and see the new ones out in a month or two at incredible prices (to compete with the iPhone's popularity and price-range).
Not sure if T-Mobile is getting the Rapheal, but AT&T should be getting it at the end of October from what I've been told. Obviously, T-Mobile's HTC Dream (G1) is releasing on the 14th of October I think (for $179 w/2yr).
Or even better, wait a little longer and you can get the HD!!!

I second that!! The HD will be the ultimate device!
First off,Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. The general responses seem to be to wait for a newer/better device which makes sense and is the smarter choice Howeverm, the problem (which I failed to mention in my original posting) is that I need to decide within the next week because my job requires me to have a phone with exchange server email(Which I think the sidekick doesnt have and even if it does, the sidekick is not a very "professional" phone and I dont want to use it for work). After reading about the HD though I am DEFINITELY going to upgrade to it when it comes out, but for right now I need to decide between the wing or tilt as I can get either one for 150$. So anyone have any advice as far as those 2 phones go? I understand that they are more or less the same but they both have 2 different problems So I need advice as to which one would be the better choice FOR NOW given the problems they both suffer. Thanks
I figured I'd just throw this out there, I almost went for the AT&T Tilt but decided to forgo that and got the ETEN Glofiish M800. The Tilt and the M800 are pretty much direct competitors. The M800 has a VGA res screen so I got that . As far as I know, the specs were very similar.
There are some reported bugs with the M800, I've fixed all the issues I've had so far and all seems well.

Hi all,
maybe a stupid question but maybe not.
I usually use a Kaiser and a Blackstone and I'd like to buy a new device BUT I can't understand last choices from HTC...
Why Rhodium can be better than Raphael...? only for the bigger screen and tilt? For only these reasons I can't accept to have a so big device in my pants!!!
I compared datasheet but I can't find anything more... can you explain me the secret of this comparison?

Well
Design is much better on TP2, size screen, keyboard (As some mention)
Have a lookinto Rhodium section and see what others say about it
Just my opinion
OK. As you can already see from my signature, I am a raphael owner. The thing I like in new tp is the resolution. But thats all.. Its way too big and design is too japanese - like a soap. The "old" TP, Diamond and new Diamond2 has beautiful straight lines which makes it look sterling and maybe a bit more objective/traditional. Not so biopod-like (check the movie "eXistenZ"). The new TP2 has also a proximity sensor and a newer manila (which will be fully ported any moment now to other phones). The keyboard... I dont know. I have no problems with mine as I use it all the time to chat in MSN/skype. I removed these apps from my laptop. But as we already know the specs are VERY similar.
And of course - the new TP2 is much more expensive. Compared to the differences the new TP2 is just a marketing trick.
Like the previous poster I am also saying that this is my own opinion

The strange thing is that unofficial news speak about a lower price than tpro. If so I'll be really confused.
I agree with your opinion... maybe diamond2 (compared to HD that I own) and pro2 are only made for marketing trick

Check out the Rhodium section for exciting info...a few have just bought the TP2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=488
Hi Guys.
I need help in buying a new phone. I am using a Hyundai A 200 with winmo 5 and i have'nt had any problems with it except for its massive size and low battery life. I wanna go for a new smartphone so after a long research and review reading decided to go either with HTC, Samsung and Motorola. The devices i was satisfied with were HTC HD2, Samsung I8000 OMNIA 2 and Motorola Milestone (DROID).
Price wise HTC HD2 - 28k, Samsung Omnia 2 - 28k and Moto Milestone - 27.5k [Am from India].
A few days ago i visited a mobile shop for a hands on approach to clear my doubts and finally decide. I Liked all the three devices but obviously sided with the HTC HD2. Things that actually blowed my brains were the sheer screen size, responsiveness, capacitive touch screen, 1Ghz Processor & SENSE... Though the Touchwiz interface of Samsung and Android Of Moto were Good but HTC Hd2 was just awesome. It was when i came home and started reading reviews of HD2 in-depth that i realized its camera had a pinkish hue, the device hung up (getting up from sleep mode) etc, that was disappointing.
I dont wanna spend 34k and end up with a laggy phone. I also read that the codec support in OMNIA 2 was way better than in HTC HD2 (not and issue cos I can always convert it to suppored formats ). The guy from the mobile shop told me android sucked esp since file transfers over bluetooth were'nt possible (but later i read that rooting made that possible), and my friends told me that Applications couldn be installed on the SD card in android but i read in the forums yesterday that an app "app2sd" or something similar made this possible. I am open to both Win Mo and Android.
So now am really confused I want to know if the HTC HD2 has these flaws and if custom ROM's covered these flaws? Should I go for HTC or SAMSUNG or MOTO? Which one is really worth the money?
Am gonna use the device for reading e-books & lotsa documents (esp Word and excel files), listen to music and watch a few videos, Gaming (occasionally), as a portable camera and video recorder (shots are gonna be indoors mostly so if someone could give me the results of indoor shots it would be really appreciable) and calls, texts and mails, of course!
I also noticed the poll results for the Best HTC device of 2009 and HTC HD2 bags 46.90%
Everything is pointing toward HTC HD2, so if I get a positive outlook for owners i would go ahead with it or i have to look into the alternatives. so, Please do update me with your suggestions and views.
Also do let me know if I should consider some other device or wait for another few months if any better device is in the making
Thank you in advance.
Send me 20k U.S. and I'll hook you up with any phone you want, ha ha.
Nah, just messin.
Anyways, go with Android, man. I would be so pissed moving from Android to winmo. I like my apps too damn much. I think I'm breaking down and getting a nexus one. Even after I swore I'd never get anything without a physical keyboard again. =[
If you gonna be using Word and excel files alot then you probably want windows mobile...go with the hd2 and its suppose to be getting windows phone 7, which is suppose to be alot better than WM or thats what i hear...
Go for Leo definitely!
Thank You
Thank you so much for your suggestions and prompt replies guys....
Still i read that HD2 in plagued with software lags, Hang ups, and other random issues.... any solutions for these issues??? are they hardware related or software related??? what about the pink hue bug in the photos???

Android's still got a lota snags right or thats what i understood after reading a lot of posts in this forum. Its Open source so we can expect nothing but the best and comparing it to the i phone or winmo doesnt do it any justice... Which is the better phone for the Android platform??? I was thinking of Se Xperia X10 or HTC Legend..... But after going through XperiaX10's wishlist i have second thoughts....
The Nexus is an awesome android device...and I don't have any snags that can't be tweeked
wow all the prices are very high.. you say HD2 cost still 34K which is circa 5900HKD here in Hong Kong the HD2 goes for 24.5K (4200HKD)
Anyhow as previously some mentioned if you need to sync with your PC and with Microsoft outlook for your PIM WM is the best.
Until now I can’t really see the advantages of Android over WM and especially Motorola which has not much devices on the market therefore it will be difficult to get support even here.
For my opinion it comes down to HD2 or Samsung. Between them I would choose HD2. However again for my opinion paying 34K for device that will not get an official upgrade is far too high.. I hope you guys going to not kill me but what is the price for Iphone???

I got a cofirmation mail from my phone retailer that the price is actually 28 k and not 36 k as mentioned in their site....
Moto is out of my mind too... HTC legend and se Xperia x10 were taken up in favor of android but still HD2 kicks butt when it comes to screen size....
Iphone 3GS 32 GB is 39 k here....
