Daylight havoc WM6 - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

10.0.0811 WWE
ROM Date 8/11/06
Hi- Need some guidance here as my WM6 Wizard isn't cooperating with the new daylight savings time. I've been sync'ing with my work PC which has the necessary MS patches for both the OS and Exchange. All calendar meeting meetings, etc. are fine in desktop Outlook edition; however, when I sync with my WM6 device the meetings between now and April 11 (ONLY ON THE PDA) seem to be off one hour and the time is behind (by one hour-again only on the PDA). I was under the impression that WM6 didn't require any MS daylight mobile patches, etc. and that this wouldn't be a problem. What I have tried:
1) Applied the MS mobile patch but WM6 won't install it (it's not meant for WM6 but I thought I would try anyways)
2) deleting partnerships/re-establishing partnerships - no effect
3) removing Active 5.2 completely and reinstalled. Also creating new partnership- still no go.
4) Tried multiple times to sync directly with Exchange and/or Windows PC but no difference
5) Manually setting the time on the WM6 to current but after syncing it reverts to one hour behind
6) extensive searching but no help to be found. All web articles are related to WM5 and below.
So I come to this group as I have no other options to pursue. The last drastic step is a hard reset which I don't feel like doing but will if required.

Never mind. Changing the zone from Pacific to Mountain back to Pacific + manually resetting the time seems to have resolved the issue. It will probably break again on 4/11

Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1

Sadly this new version still screws up my favourites when it syncs and there is still no option to sync contact categories. A great feature that got removed in 3.8
I guess you mean active sync 3.8. And one wonders if anyone had actually taken the time to write to MS or start a petition? That was a good feature and it seems odd that after all this time it still hasnt been reinstated.
Then again, VGA devices have been around for years and were now only getting VGA resolution support in WM6 so.
Still biggest improvement with this update is for WM6 users and Vista users.
Yea, 3.8!
I've written to them a millions times.

ActiveSync Error 86000107 - possible cause: ringtones!

As many others I've had the error message 86000107 during ActiveSync synchronization. In my case the cause was the multiple change of ringtones on the PPC using 'VIP PIM Ringtone' (used version, see signature). Think, the cause was not using the tool but having changed >100 contacts at once.
Solution in ActiveSync on PC:
Uncheck 'contacts' in synchronization options. Take care: This will delete your contacts on PPC and your individual assignments of ringtones to contacts, too!
Confirm Deletion.
Synchronize without having 'contacts' checked. Now everything could work fine.
Check the option 'contacts' again.
Synchronize having 'contacts' checked.
Now try assigning individual ringtones again. But check synchronization after each assignment. Perhaps you find out more (ringtone not proper? ...).
llok like it is Active sync 4.5 with Wm6.1 device
Look look like if many changes happend between two sync then Active sync 4.5 with wm6.1 produce error.

Sorry to double post the same thing but
I don’t think its to do with the amount of data changed to be synced ,I have desk top cradle at home and in the office and I stand the phone in the cradles to charge and even if I have not changed any data the issue still happens ??
But if I un check JUST THE CONTACTS let the device sync it is ok if I then check contacts its ok again ,that is until it see the other pc this happen when no data has been changed on pc1 pc1 or ppc
Actually, it is the amount of information, but it isn't just ringtones. If you have more than 100 of anything, it will cause this error. 100 contacts, 100 appointments, 100 tasks, 100 notes, anything. Since I have far more than 100 (1300 contacts, 397 appointments in the next 2 weeks), I get the error every time I switch from one computer to another. There is a solution, but nobody is as yet releasing it. Microsoft has acknowledged it is a WM 6.1 problem, and they have supposedly released a patch, AKU 1.2. But either it has not actually been released, or all the providers are currently evaluating it and won't admit it.
I wrote HTC earlier today inquiring about the AKU 1.2 patch, and got the response that my provider would have to release it for them to provide it on their site. My provider is US Cellular. I called tec support, the original rep had no idea what I was talking about, but he transferred me to the tec support specifically for smartphones, and talked with a rep. She also didn't know about the problem, but searched their knowledge base. She first tried to give me the "solution" many have tried (removing the relationship, etc.), then she found the AKU 1.2 patch I had told her was the real solution, and acknowledged this was the real answer. Unfortunately, she says that Microsoft has not yet released the patch. My complaint was noted, but she said there was nothing to do until Microsoft released the patch. My response was that they needed to call Microsoft and complain, just I was doing with US Cellular.
I suggest that everyone needs to start calling your provider and asking when the patch will be made available. We need to light some fires. If I'm the only unhappy customer, that's too bad. If they start getting lots of unhappy customers, perhaps they will become a little more motivated. I seem to have been the first unhappy person to have called US Cellular.
To cut down the time you have to stay on hold, if you are a US Cellular customer, here's the direct # for the tec center that deals with smartphones: 888-996-5499
BTW, one suggestion the rep had was to reinstall WM6.1. "It won't hurt anything". I installed 6.1 it at the beginning of the week, and just got everything the way I liked it, including installing TouchFlo 2D. Even with backing stuff up, this isn't the solution I'm looking for. Has anyone else tried this? Does anyone want to? Can anyone see a reason why installing it a second time would make it work, when Microsoft has acknowledged they have a problem?
... i faced the same problem... founding finally the best solution - promissed.
Just use Pocket Mirror Prof. for Calendar, Tasks and Contacts. Notes u can still use with AS.
It will sync 100% without probs, much faster and seeing what is left.
(contacts about 4500, 3500 calendar entries in 30 min.)
Cheers

So your solution is to buy a $50 program, instead of MS fixing their problem? This sounds like the spam another thread warning noobs was talking about.
MS have fixed the problem in later AKU releases - it's down to the vendor to implement the fix on within their ROM's...
The HTC Diamond has been fixed, the Pro will be fixed, the HD will not have the problem, etc. etc.
Grey handsets are the Dual, Cruise, TyTN 2 and x7510 - this all use AKU1.2 so shall be affected the the '107' problem.
If your handset is branded, you will need to petition them in order for the fix to be released.

First of all, I agree on that "MS needs to to fix that".
By the way, I talked to MS and I talked to SE, both linked to each others.
In differrent forums, the topic is hot without any proofen tested "YES it works".
For this reason, I open to pay an amount for a working solution.... and meanwhile, where other people are trying to fix and to fix and to fix.... I go riding my snowboard, knowing everything works
How is that....
error message
The '100' contacts error message cropped up on my touch pro today - Im back in xda land after my mini-s died when water entered my jacket pocket on my motorbike! The xda finally came back to life....but its backlight didnt.... ah well. I played with a google G1 for three weeks before crawling back to winmo...fancy that. Android is so much easier to use than windows mobile...shame about the hardware.... but soon..... soon...
Anyway im just about to reinstall the 690 contacts on my pro - Im only posting because I happen to notice I have 90 entries in my calendar! ooo close one!
Time goes by without a working solution.
Any help yet?

WM 6.1 and Exch2007 ActivSync error - Any way to use 6.0 AS?

With certain Exchange 2007 configurations WM 6.1 experiences an error with sending messages. Basically when an email is sent the Activesync window locks up on a white screen and the message will stay in the outbox getting resent every time the phone syncs. The only way to stop the message from being resent is to go to the outbox and manually delete the message.
MS is releasing a patch (not until Nov/Dec though) and is allowing people to request it now. I work for a large company though that will not install the patch until it has been extensively tested, and who may wonder why I reflashed my phone anyway
I am currently using Kumaras ROM and am very happy with it, and the issue is not ROM specific at all (happened for me on Dutty's and Laurentius's ROMS as well).
This issue however is forcing me to go back to 6.0, but I would love to stay with the 6.1 ROMs that are being released.
So my question is - does anyone know of any alternative to Activesync that connects with exchange, or any way to downgrade Activesync that would correct this?

I don't think there will be any client side fix, but thought I would ask before I start researching the 6.0 ROMs.
Oh and feel free to recommend a 6.0 ROM! It's been ahwile so I can't remember - I think Alex's were my favorites but it has been many flashes since I tried one.
Cheers,
Matt
bumping once to see if anyone has anything to say on this....
Cheers
well technically, a chef cannot just drop in AS from WM6.0 into a WM6.1 ROM.
activesync is not its own package. parts of it are in OS and Shell. replacing OS and Shell with WM6.0 components would kind of defeat the purpose.
Has anyone found a client side fix for this other than dowgrading to a 6.0 ROM.

Pocket Outlook Interface Modifications ?

For years, I've been using fancy PIM managers to make up for the shortcomings of Pocket Outlook - first Agenda Fusion and then Pocket Informant.
PI worked beautifully on my iPaq 2215 running WM2003. It was up and ready in just 3-4 sec.
Well, then I switched to another device with WM5, then WM6, and the start time jumped up to 11 sec. Now Touch Pro 2 with WM6.5, and PI still takes 8 sec to load. That's an improvement. The problem is, I have no patience for this. I find myself using POL on everyday basis and not touching PI until I need to do something POL doesn't let me to do. While POL is very basic, and doesn't show tasks and appointments on the same page, it loads up almost instantaneously.
I tried everything - Agenda Fusion, Agenda One, ThumbCal, etc... all 3rd party PIMs suffer from slow startup, PI is actually one of the fastest. On my old PDA I solved the problem by running Pocket Breeze on Today. However with Sense, PB becomes redundant.
So, here's my question... are there any mods / extensions to POL to make it as user friendly as possible. Not the 3rd party standalone programs that use POL database (although if you know of the one that's as fast please let me know).
My 3 biggest issues with POL are
- small buttons to move between days
- no tasks in calendar
- no search

PIM Backup Extract

Hi
I used to be on this forum back in the early 2000s, and a regular contributor using my XDAs (Xda, XDA II, IIs, Exec, the Ameo (bad idea for usability, but the screen was great) and the Tytn II. Half way through the last one, I switched to the iPhone.
That pointless bit of information aside, I recently came across some old data from 2007 - 2010 and I’ve really enjoyed looking through all the backups and saved data from that period in my life. However, I’ve also found a PIM Backup err..backup...that I would like to get access to - but there seems to be no method of getting access to this without an old WM PPC phone.
I am aware that you can download an emulator for old version of WM5, 6 PPC etc, but I’ve been struggling to get the right combination of OS and installed SPs or Visual Studio et al in order to get the thing working. I therefore have two questions:
Does anyone know of any way in which to extract data from those PIMB backups?
Can someone please give me a proper rundown of how to get a working emulation of WM5 or WM6 for Pocket PC, so that if necessary I can install PIMB and extract the data that way?
Any help would be really appreciated, and it’s good to see this site doing so well - even if it’s completely changed focus and design since I was a regular here.
Cheers
Ant
In the end I figured it out. I had to download MS Visual Studio 8, and then the WM PPC 6 Refresh kit, then download the ROM for WM PPC 5 / 6. Even then it wasn’t perfect as the data I wanted included SMS, but the ROM doesn’t have an SMS inbox, so kept crashing. Fortunately, it throws out the CSM files of the data before the crash, so I was able to get the data (call logs, messages, tasks etc) all out.
All’s well that ends well, and if anyone else has the same issue, this is another little internet breadcrumb of how to do this.
Cheers
Ant
