This is really going to get me in trouble at some point, I can just tell...
More than a few times in the past few weeks, I've sent a simple SMS message, only to get a call from the recipient saying something like "Dude, what the heck was all that about?" - because after my text in the message, it has inserted text from a WORK email in my outlook account! Usually these are deleted emails no less - and by deleted I mean not even in the deleted items folder.
I've got 3 email accounts set up on my phone. Two are pop accounts that get auto checked every two hours. The one that keeps getting it's emails attached to texts is the "Outlook Email" account, which is "governed" by a program called NotifyLink, which syncs my work emails to my phone across the GPRS network. It's the only way my work will allow mail sync to my phone. It seems to always be this account that the text messages "attach" from...
I've been aware of my cemail.vol file being filled with garbage for awhile now, evidenced by the fact that it's currently 1.26M, and anytime I delete emails (even a TON of them), it does not decrease in size. And yes, I'm also emptying the deleted items folder. But, I don't want to do the fresh cemail.vol trick, becasue I don't want to lose my emails and SMS, and because the one time I DID try it (thankfully having backed up cemail.vol beforehand), it erased my MMS account entirely. I only had Outlook Email and SMS.
So, and sorry for being so long, has anybody else experienced this, or does anybody have any ideas on what's happening and how to STOP it?
Sooner or later I just know it's going to attach a sensitive email in a text to exactly the wrong person...gulp...
Please help, all suggestions/observations/thoughts welcome!!
Thanks,
Sorry, should mention it's a tornado (t-mobile SDA) - duh...

Hi people... WM6.0 is bugging me - every time I send/receive it deletes all of my old mail... Is there any way to turn this off?
Thanks in advance!
No ideas?
I have the same issue with GMAIL, but could not find a setting on the device to stop the inbox deletes. Also, the gmail pop3 settings online are not that clear on what to do?
I have the same problem, and the only way I found to keep my important mail, is by moving them to the spam folder...
If you configure the settings for the mail account to download "All messages" then they won't get deleted unless you delete them manually (in which case they'll disappear next time you send/receive). Just make sure you've only got what you need in your server Inbox....or you've got an unlimited data plan as it may take a while to download them all!!
By default, new mail accounts are setup to download "messages from the last three days" IIRC, which is why messages older than that will disappear from the phone's Inbox on a send/receive.
HTH,
Mark.

gmail has a problem that it deletes any read mail. Kinda sucks, but it happens
In the Gmail options (not on your phone, but on the webpage) you can set it to retain a copy of the mail after POP retrieval.

It's not a GMail problem, this happens with all my POP3 accounts. My retrieval settings are already on All Mail - any more bright ideas?
Hi everyone,
I have searched exhaustively on this forum and via google but cannot find a solution anywhere.
Certain emails that I send via Pocket Outlook are only partially being sent. (longer emails)
Its not an SMTP issue because I have tried 3 different SMTP servers and the same thing is happening.
What is very strange is that the entire messages shows up in the sent folder but when someone else receives it only a paragraph shows up. (I have also sent them to one of my emails to test and they are partially showing up). But what is even odder is that its not with all messages, some are being received fine.
I thought that it could be some kind of font issue but that didn't work.
If someone has any ideas I would be grateful as I use the phone for business and my customers are not receiving full emails so its a big problem for me. Also just to add I am pretty sure this just started happening recently and I haven't changed any settings either.
Thanks again for your replies.
Hey,
I'm with Tesco.net for my broadband at home and want to get my personal emails on my TP.
I can do that fine, either setting up POP3 on my TP or using Emoze for push email (which I'm using and love)
For some reason I can't send any. I know there's an update to fix this, but it doesn't work. I don't even get an error - the emails just sit in my outbox.
I can send emails from other accounts (Yahoo for example) but not this one. I've looked on the Tesco website and Googled why this isn't working, but found nothing.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Tas*
check your outgoing mail settings on the phone with what they should be. it's possible that some type of mismatch (maybe port or security or pw error) is keeping your phone from connecting to the outgoing server.
also are you sure they're not sending? every now and then i send emails and tehy sit in my outbox and keep sending until i get a pissed off phone call from someone about repeatedly emailing them...
Before I got my Captivate I set up all my contacts into gmail. I set up the ones I wanted on my phone as My Contacts, and then had 20-30 more that were pretty much just e-mail addresses in All Contacts. I synced them to my IPhone using the Exchange method, and while it worked, I randomly lost 5-6 contacts. It was a little disconcerting but I got the info, re-created them and moved on. No problems.
Now, I just synced my gmail account to my new Captivate, expecting it to work better and I seem to be constantly losing contacts! Now that I'm aware of it and paying attention, this is driving me absolutely crazy! There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it. The contacts that disappear, they all have phone numbers, some are linked with Facebook accounts, some aren't. Some were added in gmail directly, others were added either on my phone or on the Iphone previously.
When I first synced my phone I had about 107 or so All Contacts in Gmail. I receive a text from someone who shows up as a phone number in my phone, so I text back "who is this?" and it turns out to be a good friend of mine I had a contact set up for, with two e-mail addresses, two phone numbers and an address. This is a contact I've had for years, so from the beginning. Just gone.
I looked on Gmail and I have 97 All Contacts. And I have no idea how to figure out which ones are lost. Then I lose two more, I have 95. I figured out one of them that I lost and re-added it so I had 96. I just lost one more. Phone numbers and all.
What the @*($ is going on here? I just exported a backup of my gmail contacts to a csv file, and I guess I'm going to have to do this everytime they change.
Is anyone else having this issue? I have no apps or addons that have anything to do with contacts. Sorry the thread is so long, I just wanted to explain what's been happening.
I don't know if I'm losing contacts, but I do loose contacts numbers. I have had a few numbers come up as numbers only, when the person calls. I ignore these calls most of the time, because if know them, their name will show. Check my voicemail, its my answering svc. I look for the contact, its there, but no number associated with it.
In my case, it only seems to happen when I originally sync with a new phone. Ill have to start watching the amount of contacts, I guess.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
I was totally surprised by this. I've already discovered at least 10 contacts that have completely and totally disappeared. Some of them disappeared before, on this phone, and I've re-added them in with their numbers and e-mail addresses. And they disappeared again. Every time I add any contact information for the time being I'm going to export it from gmail and double check my # of contacts daily. Right now I have 107 in all contacts. The worst part is when you lose them there's no easy way to figure out which contact disappeared.
What the... Me too !!!

I've just posted a new thread about the same problem i'm experiencing with my galaxy s3 (GT-I9300) and didn't notice this one.
I've having the EXACT same problem and in all the similar threats there is no solution for this, this is frustrating...
I too Flashed numrous Roms in order to eliminate ROM bugs etc...
Could a anyone assist on this ?
Has anyone had this problem with the HTC One S? Outgoing emails with attachments get stuck in my outbox (wifi or cellular) and the old "Clear data/Clear cache" under gmail in app settings isn't doing the trick for me here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
can you use any kind of task killer
sign in/out
turn on/off airplane mode
delete outgoing email if possible
syncing turned on
pull sim and disconnect from tower then then reinsert
remove and re-add account
are the files too big or have you tried a small one too?
don/t have answer, just some ideas--sorry--
Size limit on recieving mailserver? Should say undeliverable though.
Rebooting multiple times, pulling the sim, and removing and readding account seemed to work. Thanks for all the help.
that issue happens to me all the time on any device and usually when my email is so freaking important....
glad you got it
it seems to be a long term gmail issue, not as prevalent as a year or two ago though
It is a long term ongoing issue. Usually when I reboot my device it starts working again. I realized to use either the built in client or k9 for when sending email with attachments from my gmail account.
"solved"
I think I found a way to solve this problem. With Galaxy Nexus android 4.2.
I had a series of emails with attached pictures stuck in my outbox, some since tonight and one since a few weeks. I selected them all and deleted them from the outbox by clicking on the trash icon. As soon as I did this I started receiving replies from the same messages by the people who finally received them. I checked my sent mail and the deleted messages from the outbox were all there where they belonged.
Hope it works for you as well
