a rom un-upgradable qtek s100 (magician)? need some help - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

i'm trying to upgrade a second hand bought qtek s100 (presumably a magician). i hoped it would be a piece of cake, being a qtek device (thus sim and cid lock free). the simlock part is correct, any sim will work. but the cid lock free part does not hold. i tried several rom upgrades from the shipped rom section on the xda server:
nl113 rom (i think this is the tmobile rom)
the uk wwe 112 rom
the wwe 112 rom
the wwe 113 rom
and so on.
i also tried the xda unlock tool, hoping that i made a mistake and that something was still locked. after running it, it told me that unlocking worked (but it was already simunlocked to begin with). but still afterwards, running any of the above roms still didn't work. still country error.
with all the roms i get an country 112 error. even with the original qtek roms? i tried both the uk and wwe rom (not quite sure if this is a native dutch s100 or an expansys (uk) s100). did not matter, both didn't work. never had so much problems with my mda vario.
current rom is radio version 1.05.00
protocol version 1337.39
rom version 1.06.00wwe
extromversion 1.06.154wwe
maybe someone can shed some light why my qtek s100 does not take any of the shipped qtek wwe roms?
many thanks for reading my thread (and hoping for your suggestions)

solved it. just needed to run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe. then it stated the current rom and so on, after which it gave an country error while putting it into bootloader menu. then i ran MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe again while the qtek was still in bootloader menu, now the summary sheet stated blank at the rom version and so on. now it was able to upgrade correctly. for those like me who have the same problem, just run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe twice and immediately after the first attempt!

Is my phone cid locked?

How can I tell if my phone is cid-locked, I would really like to change the ROM without the risk of bricking it. Has anyone one tried lokiwiz to cidunlock their phone? any advice would be appreciated. BTW I bought the phone from gray market in Hong Kong and is Vodafone branded, do you think it would be locked?
It came preloaded with Dopod Rom, but I don't like it that much. Also what is the best radio rom, the dopod radio rom is a bit weak.
IPL 2.15.0001
SPL 2.15.0001
Rom vs: 2.15.13.27 WWE
Radio: 02.19.21
Protocol version: 4.1.13.09
Ext ROM: 2.15.13.21
Thanks

you are on G4, so yes you are still CID locked.
Normally when you flash your rom you will know imediately when it try to update.

so should I try to flash a rom and see what happens? if it goes through without an error it is cid unlocked? if an error pops up it is locked? Should I try this or should I avoid the risks? Any ROM suggestions? Qtek maybe?
Since your phone is G4 chip, i'm pretty sure you are CID locked. Dont worry about the CID locking for now, GOOD ROMS outthere been using different programs to get around CID locking problem. I suggest you can start with PDAMobiz rom from the other thread. REMEMBER USE G4 program not G3 or other programs. or look for any rom that has NoVender CID in the name.
MDA VARIO II with Dopod WM6
I recently bought Tmobile MDA Vario ii with Dopod Wm6. When it boots it shows dopod sign so I think it is dopod. The ROM is 3.54.707.3.
I want to upgrade to Wm6.1 but Tmobile has only official 3.60.xx rom presently available for download. Can I directly flash any Hermis compatible ROM on MDA Vario II.?
Since it has Dopod WM6 the CID lock must have been diabled I suppose. Am I right? and should I directly flash any HERMIS official or extended ROM? what are your suggestions Thanks
Hemant
I don't know enough about the Hermes and flashing to be certain, but I think you'll need to HardSPL (which bypasses bootloader CID checks) before flashing a ROM.
Take a look at the Hermes sub fora before doing anything though...

Jamin WWE No Vendor ID

Hi there,
Since I installed the latest dopod 818 Pro WWE ROM on my Qtek S200, I have some trouble with the device now and then. It unexpectedly reboots while having conversations after which it can't find my service provider. Then when I disable and re-enable the phone in communications manager it finds the network again. Sometimes calls are not coming through either. I did not have any of these problems with the old Qtek S200 NL ROM.
I also tried different radio roms. 2.19.21, 2.20.21, 2.30.21, no luck.
I like to try the Jamin ROM. Is there anyone who know where I can find a NoVendorID version of the latest Jamin WWE ROM? I tried the regular one in combination with the ROMupdateUtility.exe of the Dopod NoVendorID ROM, but this gives an error at 80% while flashing. After that I was only able to enter the bootloader mode of my S200. So I flashed it once again with the Dopod 818 Pro ROM.
Thanks!
Kind regards,
Dennis
Yeh, I would like to have the No Vendor ID JAMin WWE Rom, too. Could some one please make that? I still do not like the dopod ROM for some reasons. JAMin ROM is still my best choice.
I didn't see the rom you mentioned, but if you CID unlosck your device first, you can go to: ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/ and choose the rom you like, I mean, the language you wish. Go for it and luck!
The tools for CID unlock your device is, on XDA-Wiki, just up!

I have a G4 prophet. Again, it is impossible to CID unlock a G4 prophet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why people keep telling me to CID unlock my device? Of course we all know CID unlock first. If we could CID unlock our device, why should we ask for No Vendor ID upgrade?
no-vendor ID
Yes, I'm still looking for a No-Vendor ID Jamin ROM WWE, that would work on my S200... Anyone?
Thanks

Reverting AKU 2.3 ¿Upgrade? Spanish ROM RQ

After instaling the ROM in the link:
Prophet AKU2.3 pdamobiz customized rom [G4 with SPL 2.15.0001]
I don't mind this being WWE instead than Spanish, but I got several problems:
Hang during install after first reboot. (after every Hard Reset)
Not all programs installed.
Not all installed programs running.
Some other minor glitches.
I moved from 2.15 ESP Rom (Vodafone) wich I was unable to extract.
Does anyone knows were to find my "old" rom?
I downloaded 2.13 from imateclub but refuses to install: "this nbf file is not for your device, get a newer one".
Help! please.
First, is your CID unlock?
Second, your device have a G4 chip, so you can not be able to install an older version, I mean, If you have a 2.15.0001 you can not be able to install a Rom for a Sapnish Qtek 2.09.0000 or like JAMin by i-mate 2.13.0000.
About where you can find your original rom, I invite you to find it on XDA-Wiki, after you log in under your nick or make a Dump Rom from other device like yours.

Thanks for your answer!
I'm unsure if this is CID unlocked, it is SIM unlocked now, will check for the CID issue. Though I assume that being able to install other 2.15 rom (dopòd) means it is already CID unlocked too....¿?
I was afraid the "downgrading" has to be done in the same version range. (2.15)
Thanks again for the wiki proposal, will go there.
The wiki site is a real mess actually, with no trace of usefull info specific for the prophet. (Sorry to say) Just a couple of ROM's some not working.
No one with a 2.15 ESN rom to share?
Regards.

Backout/Restore Factory ROM

What is the process for restoring the factory T-Mobile ROM?
I have an T-Mobile SDA which shipped with:
ROM Version 1.0.14.0
Operator Version 1.9.19.16
Radio Version 4.0.13.20_01.09.00
IPL ?
SPL?
First I upgraded to:
ROM Version 2.0.9.0 (Qtek 8300)
Operator Version 2.5.322.1
Radio Version 4.1.13.28_02.61.01
IPL ?
SPL?
Finally, I upgraded to:
ROM Version Windows Mobile 6 for Tornado Perfect English Edition
Operator Version 10.0.0.15341
Radio Version 4.1.13.28_02.61.01
IPL 2.00
SPL 2.00.0008
I have no idea what the SPL/IPL versions were in the original ROM.
I need to return the phone for a swap under warranty (unrelated to flashing)
I have seen conflicting posts about whether or not there was a problem reverting to an older bootloader, etc. Most of the posts seem to be referring to the UK SDA (Typhoon), not the US SDA (Tornado). But they are similar enough that the concerns might be valid.
So the question is... How do I get back the SDA back to "factory fresh?" I have the original T-Mobile ROM. I downloaded it from HTC months ago. Is it as simple as running the original EXE, or will I need to jump through hoops?
Thanks for any help you can give.
dc
Use TyphoonNBFTool and open the nbf file in your original ROM, you will see the versions
The Dopod 577w AKU2 ROM for my Tornado comes with IPL and SPL, so if your ROM comes with it, then it will be patched. Just run the ROMUpgradeUtility.
Here is what TyphoonNbfTool gives me.
So, since it shows IPL and SPL are in the ROM, I don't need to worry about being able to downgrade?
Also. by going from WM6 to WM5, do I need to launch teraterm and "FORMAT BINFS" again?

T-Mobile Germany original ROM incl. Radio SPL and so on (badly needed)

Hi Community,
my mda vario III (HTC Kaiser) is an waranty case and i badly need the original rom incl all, this one in the forum is only the OS without radio spl and so on.
best regards
HT
I also needed it, bust just installed the OS and a working Radio.
T-Mobile does not even care what is installed, i guess they don't even startup the device but send it straight back to HTC. I switched about 20 T-Mobile HTC Devices and it worked everytime to just install the OS and a working Radio.
If you know the Radio and OEM SPL version you can probably get them from this site somewhere. They dont have to be extracted from the Dumped Shipped ROM.

Ah, Just have to see if anyone knows the OEM SPL and Radio versions.
Does it have to be WM6 or Wm6.1 Versoin, or are you not bothered. I don't think anyone will care so long as it is a T Mob stock version.

WM 6.1 T-Mobile German
