Hello Everyone,
I was just wondering if someone was actually putting an effort at porting crossbow to the 6700?
Thanks,
Ken
That would be awsome!!
Oh I sure hope they do. I wish I knew how to do it so I could.
Help...
Hi everyone...
I try to make an update to my Alltel PPC6700 but apparently the ROM was not the indicated one (Crossbow) and now single it remains ignited the light of the flash.
I have removed the battery, I have done reset, soft reset, hard reset and nothing…
I just got a black screen and the light of the flash all along ignited, and when I execute the RUU always says that there is no communication.
Somebody can help me?
Try hard resetting and reflashing. I tried the same rom with the same exact results. I was able to reflash with the stock rom. Be sure to go back to boot screen.
I am currently learning to write the ROM's for my Cingular 8125. Just need to know what the diffrence is between the Apache and the Wizard. Anyone got a clue? or maybe a Rom that I can work with to see.
I would love to have this also for my xv6700...
its a shame how all the other htc got upgrades to crossbow but not the apache

People PLEASE!!! This is being worked on. It may happen. It may not. You must be patient. When there are updates you will be publically notified. Don't expect anything and if you do get something be happy you did.
CHILL PLEASE!!! Everyone knows we want WM6 for Apache.
I'm working on it guys. Please be patient. It's still a ways off.

Just curious what "a ways off" is? A few weeks, few months, most likely never? I am patient, but simply wonder what- off the top of your head knowing the workload at hand- the rough estimated term might be.
Thanx
Too many variables to say.
i def. cant wait
Thank you for the work XDA developers... I anxiously await for this update...
Crossbow/WM6 for Apache
I have the Verizon XV6700 - which I guess is the same thing.
I'd be willing to donate to whoever provides the upgrade.
Maybe others would too to pay for the time it takes?

Well, it looks to be official, HTC is rolling out WM6 upgrades for some of their devices (as we all may have heard). Here are the current devices that are initially planned:
HTC Advantage
HTC TyTN
HTC S620
HTC P4350
HTC P3300
http://www.solopalmari.com/images/stories/007/04/WM6_statement_.pdf
But, there is somewhat of a silver lining. If you read the .pdf in the link, it may not be limited to just those phones. There will be no upgrade fees for the carriers, so it's up to the carriers discretion to release the upgrade for whatever devices they deem "worthy". I would think the best way to go about getting it released for the Wizard would be to contact your carriers and request it. If they get enough requests, I can guarantee they'll make that upgrade available.
Despite having some great releases from some great chefs, it would make cooking that much better with an official OS release.
At any rate, CALL YOUR CARRIERS!!

I hoped to get a more special answer. When you take a datasheet of both - it is the same. Just the camera and teh thicknes. So what is really different. And if people can crossover a hermes rom to wizard it must be possible to crossover a herald to wizard. becuse it is same function than wizard.
So what is the difference?

As i said before: camera is oem application and couldn't work on wizard. And i rebuild some modules from tytn's rom by myself to force it to work.
Im going to finish my tests of that rom, but i can say now that it has very good perfomance. It works like a charm.

Good Morning Terry
Thank you for your email
I am not aware at present of any Windows Mobile 6.0 upgrade options being made available for our XDA devices including the XDa Mini S in the very near future. Historically speaking O2 has only provided ROM upgrades on the existing OS and has never provided OS upgrades on any of the XDA devices. Please monitor the website link attached below for future upgrades.

Maybe. But all based on mun are not real WM6 - and perhaps i´m one of the "I don´t believe someone´s telling until i see"-people. But Faria mention a lot what he knows and what will come.

hey
how about, everybody on here gets together and 'badgers' or (requests, to put it nicely! ) a specific operator for the rom update?
rather than 10 people each asking 10 diff operators, lets just get together and ask one, would be more likely, and either way, once we have one official update in our hands, thats all we need really!
how bout it then chaps?!(and chap-esses)

That seems like a good plan to me. What operator did you have in mind? We should probably pick one that has traditionally been more open to upgrades in the past. That would definitely rule out Cingular/ATT here in the US.
Also, papamopps, give Dr. P. some respect and credit on the issue of what OS is based on what device. If anyone would know, he would.

No offense was taken by me. As for Faria, yes he can be a little *****y, most genius's are.. Please realize though that he DOES "butter our bread", along with others. And he DOES endure a lot of nonsense and crap. Myself, I wouldn't have come back after some of crap that he (and me in a VERY small way) have taken here.....
Now, back to the OP! I doubt that Cingular is going to be of any help, morons... I WILL say that I've seen more come from T-Mobile regarding official updates with the Wizard (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
I would vote for T-Mobile too. O2 suck for updates.
All,
Just wanted to add my thanks to all the talented people who roam these forums ! I've benefited greatly from your work. Particular thanks to faria who provided me with working ROMs when I was beginning to wonder if I should just go buy another phone. Also to funman who guided me through building my own Roms when I thought that was beyond my skills.
I'm heading over to the Hermes forums now. A friend gave up on figuring his out and so he sold it to me for $200 (he didn't know about xda-developers!). I couldn't pass that up! I hope the guys over there are as nice !
Best wishes to you all!

You're in good company over there...
A few of us are in the Hermes FORUM, myself and Jose included.

See you there
Got myself a hermes today. Insurance company typo so got a vario 2 instead of 1 .
Just flashed olipro hard spl followed by pro black 3. Happy days
Helpful bunch too
Great to hear!
I've gotten off to a terrific start thanks to the Hermes forums. Installed Custel 2.5 WM6 and I'm back to almost the same setup that I had on my Wizard. I was very happy to find most everything transfered over (PocketBreeze, iLauncher, PocketWeather, phonealarm, rlToday, IM+, muns keyboard skin, and the JPL big button phone dialer !! About the only thing missing is BatteryStatus. The FAQ says there's no overclocking software for the Hermes?
And the speed using 3G! WOW!!! Absolutely worth it !!
To everyone that has a hermes,
There are already offical WM6 versions out.. maybe you should test some first before you brick your phone... i dont mean to sound the way it does but i'm still hoping t-mobile or at&t are gonna release an offical Wm6 for my MDA.. so i do haev to say good luck to everyone with there new hermes

I did. The first thing I did upon receiving the phone was load the official Cingular WM6 rom on it. Given that there was a WM6 for the hermes, I thought that maybe I'd just stick with that version.
However, I ran into some small annoyances (activesync problems) and it was missing some software apps that I gotten used to having (Task Manager as an example), so that's when I decided to try one of the "unofficial" roms. I did my homework and read through the load process and basically followed the instructions. Custel focuses on making Cingular compatible roms, so it was a good fit for my needs.
I guess I was very cautious about installing custom roms when I first got my wizard (prior to my hermes). But after all the annoyances with it (daily soft-resets, monthly hard-resets, ongoing network problems, etc., etc.), if I hadn't installed one, I would have given up on the phone. Another example of that: I got my hermes because a friend got fed up with it and got a Treo instead. From installing custom roms, I got into customizing them myself using faria's kitchen apps.
It's not for everyone and I understand that, but I've greatly benefited from the efforts of the guys who work so hard to build these custom roms !
I have a thougth:
Is it podsible to make a kitchen where we can drag & drop the cab files and then then kitchen makes the oem packages by itself so it's whole is autonated.
it's just an idea. Maybe somebody else had thought of that but i wanted to share this thougt with you all.

Everything is possible. The only issue is that each cab is made diffrently. What you are asking would take at least 6 months developement. And none of us do this as a permanent job, so it might take a year. Just wait. There are more ROM's and kitchens being released with more and more.
I think it's near impossible.
But be pacient, in a couple of days, everyone here will know how to dump, make packages, and rebuild using them Trust me
And of course , much more than that .
Actually, the idea of a fully automated kitchen doesn't seem so far fetched.
Back in the day when the HTC Wallabee was king, there were a number of kitchen web sites. These web sites would allow you to select your base ROM and from a wide selection of the freeware and commercial (reg key required) packages. During the process, it would keep track of total ROM size vs available ROM, so you could max out the ROM. When done, you hit build and then download your custom built ROM.
It was very cool. I must have flashed my Wallabee a dozen times or so before the screen got accidentally crushed, and I moved on to a different device.

Now if only one of the more advanced cookers could do for the Wizard what LumpiStefans did for the Wallaby:

Perhaps I might do the same thing too, but the Wallaby guys provided a really good example of the right way to deploy a kitchen whether it be for Wizard, Wing, Hermes, or whatever.
In fact, silly old me, when the first WM6 post went up about a kitchen, I was expecting to see a link to ROM fabrication web site rather than a toolset with many manual configuration options and seemingly much higher risk for the end user.

I've been looking a lot. Plain and simple, which rom is the most complete, best working, wm6 rom for my imate sp5m? That's all I need. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Gah. Look. I'm not trying to be rude here, ok, but I really need some answers pronto. I don't have 10 days to sit around and wait for one person to give me a hint. I know there are threads right there at the top saying wm6 vanilla and wm6 4434234.242424 etc. but what I don't know is which one to trust. I don't know the first thing about "cooked" roms alright, I just want something that is going to work and be as official as possible. Please guys, some one help me out on this as soon as possible, I don't have a ton of time. Thanks again, and sorry if I was a little rude. Not meaning to be, just frustrated. Thanks again. SPACE
I really like Nitro's ROM, but I suggest using vjgrace's last ROM until Nitro or someone integrates all fixes.
Nitro's Rom is the most complete for me!I still have the V5(Greek) not the Platinum one and it's really good.Nothing else to say...
awesome! Thanks guys, I really appreciate the responses. I'll give it a try and let you know how it all turns out. Thanks again.

So, when will there be one build for the touch pro2?
There is alot of crap in this os that i would like to get fixed. perhaps win 6.5 will be better, but still not as good as what a few geeks can make.
side note, pretty sad a few geeks can build a better rom than the biggest company in the world.

Here is one for the Rhodium,.....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550131
The " geeks " here only have to keep a few " hardcore enthusiasts " happy, and if they don't like the rom that you cooked, tough s##t use someone else's rom. image all the compromises you need to make to keep a million casual users happy.
Well once i learn enough about how to do it. ill probably just make my own rom. unless I find one that is really good.
First i need to learn the proccess and see if its even possible yet with a pro2.
tho the new os is comming out in 2 weeks for sprint.

i think this question is already answered on previous post above.
but in a short sentence, most people do hardSPL before flashing Rom.
for what? of course to avoid device brick.
related to your experience, that's only a lucky shot but not in a safely manner.

Hard SPL questions
After i do a hard SPL, and install a wm 6.5 rom build 23060
say i dont like the ROM, can i always flash back to original 6.1?
or will the hard SPL I made on my xperia prevent that?
you can always go back to the origninal rom, you just simply have to find the rom. itl be available on here or ppcgeeks somewhere.
there is also a tool to UN Hard spl. you mainly use it if you need to send yoru phoen back to your carrier for replacement.
effect of Hard-SPL
Does installing Hard-SPL erase everything on the phone?
I'm trying to get myself to the point of not being terrified to try this.
I know the forums aren't for psychotherapy, but after spending $300 on a device, I do NOT want to render it unusable....help?!?!
Hi,
since the wiki page doesn't work, can someone explain what "hardspl" is?
Please.
Thank you.
Why should I do it?
What benefits can I get from "hard spl" ing my Tilt 2 (ATT) Rhodium 300?
I've run crud scraper and free'd up some space, ok. It doesn't run faster..?
I'd like to know what's the purpose of "hard spl".
Sorry if I sound ignorant, but I'm just that. IGNORANT of why, not stupid.

ps.........I hate the freeking ATT background images.
