Hi,
I have a MIO A201 PDA. I tried to identify from wich category it belongs and I couldn't.
I want to upload a new ROM with english language on it.
Now it have: ROM R1.3.104.1108.1 and MWM: v5.0/5.1.70
Procesor is: PXA270/312Mhz.
If someone could help me to find what type of PDA is this device I will appreciate.
Thanks.
by "catagory" you mean is it a smartphone or PDA phone?
I also have a PDA which want to identify its version, rom and if it is HTC or others! Any program can exam. the PDA for more details device information? much thanks!
HTC's rom of this site are only for the direct oem and direct HTC devices
all roms are unique for the device so a wizard cant use a hermes rom and ....
HTC dont as far as i know do OEM for MIO
and if people happen to use a device OEM'd to another brand like HP for the ole ipaq's
then the roms on this site will not work
the speciel thing here is that when the same OEM device from HTC was carried by many gsm company's like o2, tmobile and.....
people could get newer roms for their device if anohter operator relased an update and the one the person was using dident release
Thanks! Since this device is manufactured by an unknown manufacturer in China. Therefore, I have no clue if this ROM is modified OEM Rom or a copied ROM from other devices.

Hello guys, and merry christmas ;-)
I was just wondering, i got a TyTN II (Kaiser) recently, but it was bought in france, so im kinda stuck with french language.
I want to update the phone, to english or norwegian language. I know the warranty will be lost, but the phone is useless for me now anyway. I have been searching alot on the forum, but i cant seem to find an english rom i could use.
Do i use the Hard SPL to unlock the CID, and then flash the phone with a WM6 english rom?
All i want, is to get english language on the phone. Could i install Duttys rom? (Dutty's DualTouch Dial OEM Package)
Thanks for a great forum and work guys!
i have the same question ...
is it possible to install MUI packages onto the device?
something which is similiar to MUI for winxp or vista?
thanks.

I agree with the #1 post. It is always better just flash it with the whatever language ROM that you want instead of monkey around the files of an existing ROM. If it is just a matter of modifying a few files, the following scenario will not happen.
There is no (HTC) official Chinese phone sold in US, in fact it is damn difficult to find any HTC phone in U.S. phone stores. There is no official Simplified Chinese HTC Kaiser ever made. HTC is a Taiwanese company and they make Traditional Chinese HTC Kaiser plus other European languages Kaiser. Check their web site, there is no U.S. sales/service offices.
I normally get a phone in Hong Kong and flash it with English ROM and install a Chinese system which can read both type of Chinese characters.
So replace the ROM is the best way to go. This forum have enough info for how to do it. (Of course, you have to unlock your phone first).
i totally agrees and i am using the same method at the moment. using a cooked english rom and add in applications and fonts to support read/write chinese.
but when i was using asus p525 & p535, i understand from the cookers that they extract mui files from simplified chinese wm6 image and port it into the english rom. so i believe there might be a way to do a cab installation files with the require languages files and it can be installed onto the device. taken into consideration that our kaiser has abundent rom storage space, installing this mui package shouldnt be much of a problem.
anyway, this is just my thoughts, i am no cooker nor expert, hehe. so it will still takes a real expert to work out this mui installation cab.

So i registered my TyTn II SN on the HTC e-club expecting to see ROMs for download. It properly shows my device as registered, but there are no ROMS available for download. I contacted their e-mail support and was told that "no ROMs have been relased for the TyTN II."
How can this be? From everything I am looking at here there should be at least one 6.0 ROM and one 6.1 ROM that was released by HTC??? If not, where are all these ROMs coming from?
Did I get bad info from HTC? Did they remove all their ROMS for some reason? Please help me understand.
thx.
dear friend
i understand your confused i also got it in the begining but i understode later
all those rooms are built in something you can call it beta version of windows 6.1
this is what i know about that and maybe someone else knows better and correct me if iam wrong
best regards
They are not OFFICIAL, as many people might think. They are built by cooks around here (and other places).
Keep in mind that there are also ROMS from other countries that come available then are shared.
You may have registered to HTC e-club, however, it may not show as per your location.
As I understand, the newest rom always come with the newest device come to market, htc don't update "old" devices, even there is new version rom released from microsoft. For example, kaiser was released last year, and the newest rom in the meantime was 6.0, so the kaiser came with 6.0. Even you buy your kaiser now, and the 6.1 was released by microsoft few months ago, you won't get 6.1 in your brand new kaiser.
All these new "offical" roms are released or leaked by microsoft, for newer devices, and our cookers here cook them for our kaiser and we can have chance to try new functions in these new roms.
Thanks for the reponses.
So, If i understand correctly, no one is able to Download the "official" ROM for their device from HTC directly?
I believe I can download the AT&T Tilt ROM from AT&T, but for HTC ROM every copy that exists here is from a "dump" of someone elses or a cooked version?
To start with my device i would rather use a fresh ROM and not a cooked version. How can I easily find what is the latest "Clean" dump ROM out there?
thanks!
Actually, no one is able to go to HTC's website and download an official 6.1 ROM for their Kaiser/Tilt II as they have "officially" not released it yet.
Microsoft has only just "officially" announced WM6.1 in the last week.
I dont' necessarily mean the latest as in 6.1.... I mean are there ANY officially released HTC Roms that I can use to flash my tilt and if so...where and how can I get an "official" one. Again, by official I mean not a dump or a cook.

well, if youre saying "official" as in, HTC says, "hey everyone with an htc device thats running a rom not belonging to htc, here's an official release of our rom for your device" then no.
but, however, there are roms in these threads that were extracted from say the htc kaiser that is an offical htc rom, no att, just htc
if you want an "official" htc rom then you'll have to buy an unlocked device, instead of one from a particular carrier.
lollipops and redneck turkey gobblin,

WHAT I WONDER is the wm6.1 suppose to have silverlight mobile and skype mobile and ie better featured but non of the leaked roms ever showed any of these features?
Well for instance, when I had my PPC6700 and there were issue with it, Sprint actually had me reload their ROM to try and troubleshoot.
If you buy an "unlocked" HTC with no carrier, then whose ROM does HTC expect you to use...the HTC rom that comes with the device, or another special ROM made available to the carrier? I suppose that if you buy an unlocked Kaiser (for $5-700) that there is nothing in the warranty saying you can't reflash it... therefore shouldn't HTC provide a copy of the ROM incase you need to flash it back to defaults?
thx

I bought a TyTn II, as well as a Wizdr before, both unlocked, and always got a CD-ROM with apps AND a restoration utility which is actualy the original ROM.
If I take a look now on the HTC e-club, my registered TyTN II has a download available, but it's from 09/2007 (and french..). So I don't even consider flashing my device with this as it would be the same as the one delivered with my phone I think.

Right Dredd..that's what I am talking about.... I would think that someone who bought an unlocked one would have a CD with the "official" ROM and that HTC would also post that on e-club for registered members (in case you lost your CD)... But they don't appear to post one for download there...
Hi,
i have a vodafone i640 (the i620 from vodafone is called i640 and has a metal front) with windows mobile 6 from ebay.
All networks can be used, but I want to delete all the vodafone stuff. I never had a smartphone with wm6, so I need to know whether
• I need a new unbranded firmware
or
• remove are there tools to delete the vodafone live! links and the stuff?
• Do I need a special WM6 version, because the uncommon display resolution of 320x240!?
A adress where I can get unbranded firmware or tools for this would be really helpful.
The i620 should also work on the i640.
Thanks for every help.

the i620 has diferent hardware from the i640, so i guess the i620 rom wouldn't work in a i640.

Does a 6.1 rom exist for the i620? Also, to the person who has a a rom for the i620, where did you get it? I just purchased a i620, should be in this Friday...I can't wait!!
Does anyone know where can I find more information about windows mobile standard? It would appears this whole site is more catered to windows mobile professional. I would just like to know where I can get roms for the samsung i620.
Thanks in advance,
(still searching for a good guide on here on "how to cook your own rom for WinMo standard")
How abt Dumping the ROM and then Editing it to WM6 Vanilla and then re-installing??
Yea, I was thinking about that...but I just need to read up on how to dump rom and what I can change and not change(still looking for a good thread on how to do that).
But mainly I'm looking for 6.1rom for my samsung i620. Someone on here said they have a rom downloaded, but I'm not sure if it's a 6.1rom or just a clean 6.0 rom

There's also a link to english rom, but I'm almost sure it's another 6.0. Yet it differs from mine. Its i640bugk1 and I have i640bugi4.

The HTC S720 is the CDMA version of the popular and very capable S710. Sporting a slightly different look, the S720 shares basically all of the same specs as its sibling the S710. Key features include a 2.0 mega pixel camera, Window Mobile 6 operating system, slide out QWERTY keyboard, stereo bluetooth and an expandable memory slot (micro SD).

ringtones and apps should work w/o problems on your HTC s720 (aka HTC Libra). for upgrading to a new ROM i'm not sure, i think here we need more info about the libra (what version has the spl, ipl, is it unlocked, what for a CID, and so on).
maybe one of the cooks could help here with more knowledge than /me .
also have a look at the wiki, sometimes really helpfull and always interersting VOX Wiki Pages.
i hope i could help you a little bit, enjoy your stay at xda-dev!
It has CDMA not GSM, therefore other drivers are needed. Extract a ROM for the S720 (if you find one, otherwise get it from the device itself). Then replace the OEMDrivers folder from a Vox ROM and cook a ROM with that. That should be a start, but I don't know if you can use the Vox USPL. So no idea if you will be able to flash it.

And thank YOU sir, that was alot of help, im going to go read that thread now and see what i am able to do with my phone.
I have a BT Mobile branded HTC S710 and want to flash it with the generic ROM.
I went to the HTC.com site to obtain this (from here: http://www.htc.com/uk/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=8&cat=2&dl_id=16), but it asks for your device's serial number before it'll let you download, and reports "invalid serial number" so won't let me download. This is apparently some agreement BT had with HTC to prevent you from obtaining the generic ROM and getting rid of their rubbish one.
I've had a look on this site for generic ROMS, but can only find non-English generic versions of the Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM, so I need help locating a UK English version of the generic ROM if anyone has any ideas?
Although I'm an IT Teccie, I'm new to ROM flashing, so your help is really appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
