Deleting personal info in WM 2003 - General Topics

Hi Guys,
I need some help with my magician. I am going to sell it and therefore want to get my personal data out. I had already performed a hard reset, however all my data got restored by accident through activesync. I am looking for a way without having to hard reset and the hassle of installing all the apps again.
Any help would be great.

Generally you can rename the pim.vol file in your root directory, eg pim.crap, then delete pim.crap, then soft reset.
I think!

I tried looking for the file pim.vol but it wasn't in my root folder. The "see all files" option was turned on. Also a search on the device yielded no results.
I googled a bit and found out that pim.vol is used in WM5? My version is WM 2003 so do you or anyone else know where to find the pim file and how it's named?

Good point, I wasn't thinking with my 2003 head.

I can't recall an easy way on 2003 now, it's been a long time. If you have access to SKTools etc, you can delete the PIM databases I guess.
For contacts can't you select all and delete?
Frankly, in my current state of amnesia, I would use Sprite Backup or similar, backup my device, hard reset, then do a selective restore of everything EXCEPT Pim data. That'll revert you to a fresh, configured system with no PIM stuff.
Apologies for my BSE.

Very Slow Boot up and what's a good Backup Software?

Hi,
I have a problem, when i have to enter the simcode. Bevor i could do this, I have to wait about 5 minutes until the display reacts. After i'm able to enter the simcode, i have to wait about 5 minutes again to see the home screen. after that, everything is normal.
I have the newest TNT Rom on my phone.
What could be the Problem?
Is there a good backup software, which can backup my Programms, which i have installed, messages, contacts... best would be, if it backups every day automatically. I would pay something, if there isn't something for free!
Thanks!

Sprite backup
check it out

i say, flash a new rom... also gives you something new to try
anyways, PIM backup, or SPB Backup - i use both and can't fault em
Its corruption of Extended_Rom or if you are using any Sdcard or MiniSd,it needs formatting.
Backup your data with either of the above applications and either try out a Hard Reset otherwise reflash the rom.
i have tested the backup softwares and i think, i'll buy the sprite backup software.
and i've tested a lot of roms... i tested the snn versions, the simple version, cooked own roms, but now, i used my phone for tasks and so on and not only for testing new roms, which are faster, so i thought, somebody would know something to fix the problem so i don't have to install everything again.
but... tooo late^^ i did a hard-reset
and thanks for the help!

Sorry, noob question.

If I flash Hard-SPL, will I lose everything else on the phone, like do I have to reconfigure/reinstall everything I currently have on it? I read both of the Hard-SPL threads and instructions, it mentioned something about being the same as a hard reset, this is the part I'm still confused about. I want Hard-SPL only to try other radios, not ROMs.
Thanks.
Yes, you will lose everything on your device except for your internal storage (4GB) side of things. So be sure to save all your contacts/calender info. using either your pc (MS Outlook) or backup program.
Thanks again, band27. Now things are cleared up!

I think I will wait for the next official ROM update or when something else goes wrong before doing the Hard-SPL, because right now I've a lot of programs and tweaks installed, the radio thing I can wait a bit.
you can use SPB Backup or Sprite Backup to create a full backup of your device. since radio is not considered as data, you would be able to restore that backup afterwards with all tweaks and apps and pim

Thanks for the suggestions, that's a good idea actually, even if I don't flash Hard-SPL.

[Q] Delete downloaded e-mail attachment

Hello, today I needed to download zip file from my gmail inbox. I had only Omnia W with me and no Android phone. After that I wanted to delete downloaded zip... but can it be done? On image below is what I mean... how can I delete once downloaded file?
In this cas it is only 90KB file, but what if I download 10MB zip for example, then it would take 10MB from small device's memmory forever? (or until factory reset). This is unacceptable behavior.

and that will also delete temporary file on device? and what if I want to keep mail on server?
Downloaded files are saved toa Temp location, and it appears that the OS cleans them out periodically. I could write a fairly simple app (wouldn't even need interop-unlock) that lets you view and clean them out, if you want, though.
Note, however, that I'm pretty crazy-busy right now, so I can't promise *when* it would be available.

Is it possible to access from code files outside the isolated storage of particular application?
An app with ID_CAP_FILEVIEWER can read the temp folder (using either native APIs or GetResourceStream).

Oppo A7 Keeps deleting the file automatically

My Oppo A7 has this kind of, like, phone manager or os system that keeps deleting my residual files and cache once every several days/overnight. I used system log to keep track of the processes involved. Well, I can only find the system UI in work during the same time my files were deleted. But, it was not in the process of deleting my files. But, when I was observing all the system apps i found some, like phone manager plugin that does not stop its process although i had disabled its usage access, where it keeps enabling itself back. My file always got deleted around 3 am. Disabling phone manager, having its self frequency off, or deleting related running process through developer options doesn't seem to work or just works for several days. Anyone has any idea how to stop my phone from rambling in the morning, deleting my files willy-nilly without my permission, only to wake up feeling raged? Here are the screenshots of the clean storage function on phone manager that i suspected deleting the files. I also think it has something to do with cheetah cleaning master.

Anyone ? I hope anyone here can tell me the package name, so I can delete it or method to delete it.
No one will help you since oppo is 1000 have tons of security patches no advance tech will be able to help you also they removed fast boot and rooting method and adb stuffs

Looking for a real phone clone program.

I tried all kind of clone and backup apps for android.
They all copy the original data but they do not copy the menu structure I build for myself. BTW, standard android grouping of apps.
I see examples were Google apps are presented in a own group so it is possible.
The grouping of apps is something I build over the years. And rebuilding it from scratch is a lot of work.
There are apps that can group apps like games, tools etc in categories but they do not work as I want.
The second problem is that almost all apps need a new login. With more then 300 apps (some only used once in a while) again a lot of work.
So, anyone knows a real clone program?

What exaclty are you trying to do? Back up and restore?
As I said, a real 1 on 1 clone. With no or minimal settings afterwards.

Clone meaning?
If you're signed into your Google account on your device, it should keep a record of what apps you have installed so as to restore them if you ever factory reset or use a new phone.
There are also apps out there such as Swift Backup that can do the same thing; with root, it can restore the app data so you don't have to reconfigure each app afterwards.
problem with all the backup apps is they restore the installed apps, the data ( photos. docs etc) but not the menu structure i.e: the grouping of apps android way in a map.
a real clone is a carbon cop of the original, hence the name clone.
Most apps do not clone but simply restore data.
