Hi all,
I am wondering how to change the 4 soft key mapping in order to affect them another program.
This is because the 2 softkey are beginning to break themselve and I would liek to affect the 2 other softkey to do the same (i.e. affect them "Contact" and "start")... see the picture.
I already have some registry trick:
(HKCU\Software\Microsoft
Create a key named 'Home' in here ,and then another key named 'Keys', and then ANOTHER key named '113'.
First Value: 'Default'
Value Data: The text you would like on the key ... (GPC on sample screenshot)
Second value: 'Open'
Value data = "PATH OF EXE or LNK FILE" <--- example is "\Windows\tmail.exe" (it is important to enclose them in quotes)
There is no need to restart device. Just click on the right soft key, press the Home button, and then you'll see the change!)
However i'd like to know what would be the number of the 4 softkey on my QTEK 8310. Anyone know the kay mapping of this device?
Moreover, I'd like to know how "start menu" is launched by the left softkey (what exe is this in the /windows folder?)
Thanks a lot

now I have no quick keys from digits, but only letters. I do not know like one can move this again. Hangs it maybe together with any other installed program?
some any ideas?
In the Registry, goto:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell
*press left softkey (values)
Change the DWORD value as follows:
HasKeyBoard = 0 (for numbers)
HasKeyBoard = 1 (for letters)
*a soft reset is not needed. but, in case it doesn't change anything automatically, a soft reset wouldn't hurt.
thanks to greatbal for this tip
Just delete all Sony-Ericsson phones from BT devices list.
Hello,
thank you very much! Now I have the HotKeys(Digits) again
Is it a bug with Sony-Ericson?
This is the bug of WinMobile, maybe.
I Found two registry hacks to change the behavior of softkeys for the HP ipaq 514.
1) For the key on the right side that by default opens the Voice Commander Change the following key :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\Path]
"Path"="\Windows\Voicecommander.exe"
replace Path with everything you want
2) For the right softkey above the Red Button (OFF/HangUP) that by default opens HP Shortcuts change the following keys :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Home\Keys\113]
Default="Shortcuts"
"Open"="\Windows\HPShortcuts.exe"
replace Default with the Label you want to see and Open with the path to your application of choice.
For the second change you have to soft reset your phone to see the changed
key.
Hope this is useful...

i will try to set a task manager instad of the never used voice command
I want to close apps with the right softkey holding down. Any ideas? I thought Smartskey would work, as I think I remember one working on my 2125 years ago on wm5.

well i tried to do it and i this is how i did it.
But i have to just press rigth softkey and all tasks are clsed. NOT by holding a key so i dont know if its useful for you.
I made a path to application which can close all task.
Do it on your own RISK.
In registry editor i went:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Home\keys\113 enter it then click values and i added 2 strings. (if u havent keys 'key' and '113' add them)
1. Value name: 'Default' in Value Data u have to write a name for right softkey, for example i added 'CloseAll'
2. Value name: 'Open' here in value data you have to type a path to program which u want to be ran, i added \Windows\Start Menu\Accessories\Oxios CloseApps.lnk
EDIT:
I've also found usefull program where you can map keys
http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php
Or another program may be usefull for you: Right Menu. Google it
I have it done a little differently. I mapped my comm button to celetask and there I mapped close all tasks to button 5.
This way all I have to do is press com button (or whatever other button you like) and then press 8.
On a certain moment I assigned the left down button, (in Hold), to a specific program.
When trying to change it back I am blocked:
While trying to leave the program I get this " Each program button must have a unique button assignment. Please select a different button assignement."
But I have no idea how the settings were/should be and I can only reset the TP . Normal exiting is impossible.
The top 5 buttons only have the just name "button" on it and the third has the text "today" behind it.
The last ( sixth) button is assigned to a program and has the name "button 1(hold)
All the others have: "context menu" written behind them.
So my question is:
What are the settings for the buttons?

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Can you tell me what assignments you gave them. I have no idea which one to pick.
Or is it irrelevant?

I have samsung sgh-i600 and suddenly I can type only numbers unless i use the outer keyboard keys such as W.

Try change keyboard layout
Run registry editor
search HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010409\
and change MappingID to 0x410(1040)
and reboot the device
well, what i found on my sgh-i600 is different registry keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_CLASS_ROOT
Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\preload there is a defualt value of e0010409
so where can i change th keys upper or lower text selection?
HKLM is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
so change Mapping ID in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e001 0409\
