Hi,
I won´t bore you with the complicated story that put me in this situation.
What I would like is this…
1. That the calender and tasks FROM the computer is exactly syncronised TO the smartphone.
With "exactly" I mean that if there for example are objects on the Smartphone that are not on the computer those should be removed. No objects, wheter updated later on the smartphone or not, should be taken into consideration.
2. The second thing I would like is the reverse, namely that the "Files" folders FROM the Smartphone i exactly (as described above) syncronised TO the computer.
Please be concrete in any advice I am new in the game, and the active sync help is not much of help

Sweden
ActiveSync will not do this as it will *synchronise* your PC, and phone.
It sounds like you just want is one way synchronisation, something ActiveSync can not do.
Pumasoft's Intellysync used to do one way synchronisation, but I am not sure if it's available as a standalone desktop application anymore.
I am unsure why you need only one way transfer though, if yo uare away from your desk, and you make an appointment on the phone, why wouldn't you want this updated on your PC?
Also with the files, they should update both ways, nothing will go to the phone unless you change it on the PC, so that should already work as you require.
too bad... I guess you are shure about this.
Do you know why then it is possible in Activesync (Tools / Alternatives /)
too choose from what I want to syncronise in the:
Hermes / TyTN
VS.
The PC?
What is that function for, why is it splitted?
Ok, I will explain the background.
I exported outlook and what I didn´t know was that the things I had exported before would come back when I Imported outlook again (.pst - file).
So on my travel I was stuck with lots of information that was outdated.
(Pocket PC:n could not syncronise all the info I had so therefore the export to external harddrive.)
So I decided to temporarily use only the files and contact parts of outlook and then one way syncronise it the best parts of what I had on the Pocket PC vs. home computer outlook.
I have enormous amounts of information i outlook so it will be some work to get rid of the outdated info - and the outdated info is not always older than the updated.
/Danne
OK let me get this right.
Your PC is correct.
Your phone is outdated.
If this is right, then delete the activesync connection to your phone, and recreate a new one. When it asks you if you want to combine items, or overwrite them, just overwrite them, and this will replace everything on the phone with what is on the computer.
Yes that sounds like a good solution!
As said I am new and don´t know the how´s.
But first I will syncronise only contacts and files since these are the most updated on the Pocket PC.
But do you know why there is a split between sync between the Pocket PC and the Home PC? (tools / settings)
Should the settings be that all relevant things are checked on both units?
Thanks!
/Danne
I have to to to town for a while, will be back in a couple of hours.
/D
Even thou I erased the mobile from active sync and restarted the computer it had saved the files somewhere and I wasn´t given the option to erase what was on the mobile more than mediaplayers files.
Welll... there will be some work but..
End of story.

Hello, the latest Beta version of super sync is now available for download (the previous version was lost during the forums backup/restore problems)
Super sync now does...
Sync any and all folders on your PPC to a basefolder on your desktop pc
Synchronise time to the PPC or sync Desktop pc clock to PPC clock
Fix contact names on every connection.
Multiple archives (definable) kept of any changed/deleted files.
Syncing to more then one Desktop PC working.
Some small bugs were fixed, making sync more reliable.
-----------------------
I intend to add more tools at a lated date, current suggestions and listings are as follows
Reliably search for duplicates in contacts
Sync/backup SMS messages on mobile edition devices
Pocket media folders.
Sync memory cards connected via a memory card reader
Sync more than 1 mailbox to more than 1 computer
sync all favourites instead of just 'mobile favourites'
------------------------
Some of the above are suggestions of users from these forums - thanks for the suggestions guys - I'll try and incorporate them soon!
------------------------
NOTE: this software in is it's beta stage only, I have tried to make sure there are no bugs but a couple may still have escaped my notice. It is possible but unlikely that your data may be damaged if a bug occurrs, please back up your unit and all data before trying!!
icarusbop, suprisingly there still is no synch solution for PocketPC for Linux. I think there is a great void there. Can your solution be ported to run on Linux? Just an idea.

Sorry - I'm completely clueless about Linux and the code I have done uses the AS connection to connect to the device anyway. A Port to Linux from what I have already would be impossible.
yeah mate, keep developing, I can't wait until you release the media folders, I know for a fact that AS would not release that feature in the future, (since they want you to use WMP10), also, Is unpractical to upload a bunch of songs via slow USB1, so for that feature alone, I'm willing to spend my money. Also the Memory card upload is better and faster, cause most Memory card readers are USB2, and are faster, (specially for us 1GB sd card users.
Keep up the great work!
Just to keep everyone updated, I am still working on Super sync. I have nearly finished the Memory card reader sync section and am hoping to add Pocket Media folders next. I have also eliminated some more bugs and made sync more reliable.
The bad news is my XDA has died and gone off for repair, so it will be a couple of weeks before I can make any more progress; sorry!!
I hope to post a new version of the software soon.
I've downloaded the software to my desktop but when I try to open it I am asked what I want to open it with. Is there an installation process?
The download file is compressed with WinRAR, you need winrar on your computer to de-compress it...
You can get if from here
http://www.download.com/WinRAR/3000-2250-10007677.html?part=dl-winrar&subj=dl&tag=button
101
i say keep developing it, with all my respect to MS but they are a lame company that designs based to what they need not what people needs, i also would say if you can develop the sync where the computer takes internet connection from the pda & not ONLY vice versa
Hey All, I'm very excited here , my new 8125 will be in my hands Wednesday. The first thing I would like to find is a weather program to install. I use xWeather on my Treo 650, it gives me nice radar views. I would love to have something like that for my 8125. I wonder, can I try loading the Treo 650 program on the 8125 or is that a No No. So ware do I go to find down loadable programs for my 8125. I go to mytreo.net for tons of free stuff and trial programs for the 650, is there a place like that to go for my new 8125? Watch ya say guys? Thanks...
As far as Weather Programs -- there's WeatherPanel by Marsware, Spb Weather, and Sbsh Pocket Weather that I'm aware of.
As far as other apps -- go to Handango, Pocketgear, Freewareppc, or pocketpcfreewares. Or, just do a google search for "PPC APPS".
Another suggestion is to mosey over to the Cingular Customer Forums and do a forum search for "8125 apps" to see what kinds of programs some of us are running on our 8125's.
Thanks newbie2 for all the info. I went to all that you mentioned and did the google search and found lots more; way cool ! I like very much the Marsware WeatherPanel also, I will put that in the new 8125 first thing and for 12 bucks I will buy it also. I sure hope my new 8125 comes with a data transfer cable or I will be bummed out big tme. LOL

It comes with the USB sync cable to connect to your computer to sync AND for downloads -- so, you're all set!!
Thanks for the info on what the unit comes with, that's a relief!! I set up folders and book marks for all this new stuff so I'm all ready. I been waiting for Fed-X, my package is out for delivery. I down loaded Weatherpanel and am ready to install that also. I'm used to getting stuff for my Treo 650 and having to install .prc files for programs. It was interesting to see that the weatherpanel has a .exe extension and it seems as though programs for the 8125 mda set up as if you are doing regular computer installs; hence the name Pocket PC. This is neet stuff... Now ware is that truck..........
New 8125 came in yesterday, I am loving it. I stayed up late to get it set up the way I want and all is fine, everything from syncing to E-Mail to Wifi is all done. My 1Gb sd card will arrive Friday then I will install Weatherpanel, with that install I guess I just use the explore from the hot sync manager and put the program in a folder and just double click the .exe file. I'm really not sure how to install programs yet to the phone, any info would be great. I use 4 E-Mail addresses and having to switch between each one to check them all is a pain. With my Treo 650 I used Snapper Mail and it checked all accounts one after another automaticaly. Is there an E-Mail program for my 8125 that will work the way Snapper Mail does? I looked briefly for Snapper Mail for Pocket PC's but still no luck. Again any info is appreciated. Thanks All....
For an .exe install, you want to install from the desktop through ActiveSync. Just double-click the program's install icon -- the installation will start on your desktop and go through the ActiveSync connection to install to your phone.
To install a .cab file, drag and drop ( or copy and paste) to your phone through Active Sync ( I ususally put .cab files onto the SD card). Then just navigate to it on the phone through File Explorer, tap on the file and it will begin the install process.
If your SD card is in your phone, you'll be asked at the beginning of the install process whether you want the program installed to the device or storage card. Just make your choice, click "install" and the installer will do the rest.
Sorry -- don't know about any programs for multiple email accounts. It's all I can do to keep up with just ONE!!
yes you can run Palm OS 5.2 (or older) on your PPC!
Just visit http://styletap.crmhelp.net/?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=5
but know that is not freeware. But I still prefer WM5 apps
I am having an issue with tasks syncing between Outlook and my PPC. I have searched XDA-Dev and couldn't find anything. Searched via Google and found a few others with the issue but no solutions.
Here's the scenario:
Edit: The below applies to Start Dates as well
Tasks are showing up with a Due Date one day less than what is on my PPC.
Change the Due Date on the PC and the PPC updates with the same (correct) date.
Change the Due Date on the PPC and nothing happens unless I manually force a sync or disconnect and reconnect.
When it does sync, the date on the PPC is correct and the date in Outlook is one day less (i.e PPC 04/14/07, PC 04/13/07).
Deleting on either PC or PPC deletes the task from both.
What I've checked & background information:
My time zones are consistent between the PC & PPC.
Appointments are not effected and sync fine.
Running Outlook 2007, WMDC and am using an Artemis (DST patched).
Syncing w/ home and work.
The other people that seem to have this issue are using different devices and different versions of Outlook.
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled WMDC.
Hard reset does not solve the issue.
I use Tasks constantly and an very disappointed with this bug. Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
db
Hmmm. Amazed that no one else is experiencing this. Would have assumed alot of this crowd would be on Vista & Office 07 and that at least someone else would have seen it even if they didn't solve it.
Oh well.
db
I'm on Vista and Office 07, and only time I've ever seen anything like this is when I accidentally altered the time zone on my PPC. Took me a while to realise and still not sure how I did it without noticing.
However you say you've checked these and they are OK, so I can offer no further advice.
Stupid Tasks
Thank God! I though I was the only person in the world fighting with this.
I'm in the same boat as you: Outlook 2007, Vista, WMDC, DST patch. I have a WM5 Axim x50. What the heck are we doing wrong? It isn't like this is some kind of bazaar configuration. I'm a full time student and also heavily rely on tasks. In the meantime, I have to make a note (using PhatPad) and try to remember to check it later so that I can create the task on my PC. Frustrating, to say the least.
So far, it seems that this is a recent phenomenon, but I have seen some posts detailing the same problem dated in 2005 (though this was probably a legitimate issue with misconfigured time zones).
I'm going to keep looking for an answer to this. One thing I have to do this weekend is reinstall Vista (trial period ending). I'll post if there are any updates.
Good luck to all (five) of us,
Tom
Edit: If it's not Outlook, and it isn't the device, then it may be the PST file. I remember reading about a lot of people with this issue who exported their PST from Outlook 2003. I don't know. When I do this reinstall, I'm going to have some serious controls in place to figure this out, maybe even a hard reset (as much as I hate the idea of it).
Excellent work. Easy to understand.
Only difference between myself and you two then is the DST patch. I never applied it. My suspicion is that is the culprit then.
Thanks for your feedback, guys. I'm still plugging away at trying to sort it but haven't had a lot of time to try some of the more labor intensive things like recreating my whole Outlook pst file, uninstalling/resintalling Office, etc.
One interesting thing I forgot to mention is that syncing with work is flawless (XP Pro, AS 4.5).
I am planning on spending some time screwing around with timezone settings tonight and we'll see what comes of it.
We'll see...
db
Changes timezones on both the PPC and PC. Not surprisingly, no change.
db
Potentially good news. Found some software called PocketMirror Professional. You can find it here: http://www.chapura.com/pmp_wm.php ($49.95 but worth it if you use tasks as much as I do). It can take over syncing for Calendar, Contacts & Tasks in place of WMDC (I am only using it for Tasks) but it works - dates show up as they should completely seemlessly. They have a 7 day free trial so I suggest giving it a go.
One minor caveat though;follow the installation instructions closely. It's not a big deal but you can end up create some dupes when you install it. After that is seems to run fine. Need to see what it will do with my work machine tomorrow and if I need to install it there or not. I'll keep you abreast.
db
Well, after deleting some duplicated tasks (all of 30 seconds) that were created when I synced at work, everything seems to be working great with the software I posted above.
Didn't have to install it at work which was working fine (although technically you could without paying twice as the downloadable doesn't have a key). I'll work with it for a few more days and report back any issues but so far I am relieved if not $50 poorer to get the functionality back that I never should have lost...
Hope this helps.
db
This is absolutely ridiculous.
So I ended up reinstalling Vista (as I mentioned before) and doing a hard reset on my Axim x50 this weekend. After Vista was up and running, I installed Office 2007 and the OS updates. I didn’t install the DST patch, any third-party software, or even restore my data at that point. It was a completely clean install on both my PC and Pocket PC.
I tested the configuration by creating a task on the device and performing a sync. Sure enough, the task due date was one day off on my PC. This seems significant to me: in the default configuration with the absolute latest software (except for WM6 that is), there is a fundamental problem that Microsoft, and even much of the community, hasn’t acknowledged. The only explanation I can come up with is that our crappy devices are to blame, or that they don’t play well with WMDC. We’re unique, which is probably why so few people have reported this problem.
Oh well. Unless a magic patch comes along, it looks like we’re stuck. So DB, don’t feel bad about plunking down the 50 bucks; you didn’t have much of an alternative. On the bright side, it’s cheaper than getting a new device!
Thanks for everyone’s input,
Tom
I don't know if you're experiencing the same problem as I am... but here it is.
I just hard reseted my TyTN and reinstalled my appz, after an upgrade. All went well and I tried to sync it with my PC. After the sync... all my Calendar appointments, birthdays, rendez vous etc went back one day!. My Outlook was all right at first, but after the sync the appointments changed to one day back there as well.
The solution? First I erased all the wrong dates from my Outlook. Then I UNselected Calendar from ActiveSync, completed a full sync... The I REselected Calendar and did a full sync again... All was back to normal.
That was the firts time something like this had happened... I've been using Outlook & PDA's the last 6 years... with no problems... Go figure.
No, it's not quite the same problem. Only the tasks are being affected; calendar and appointments work as normal.
Creating a task on the PC results in a successful sync: all dates correct, etc. However, if a task is created or edited on the device and synced, the start and due dates are one day behind on the PC only.
Very strange and there seems to be no solution, except third-party syncing software.
Mythozz: Tried the same thing with tasks. It is usually a good strategy for sorting syncing problems. I also deleted and recreated the partnerships. Unfortunately in this case, neither helped.
My guess is that we're unfortunately in the forefront of what will likely be a growing number of people experiencing this. Sadly, I don't think we're at critical mass yet to get any attention from MS. That said, I can't imagine it will be long before it gets noisy enough to get their ear on this.
For now I, plucked down the $50 and am OK but no one should have to to get basic functionality. MS has to look at WMDC & get this sorted.
If I didn't sync in two places, this wouldn't be much of an issue since I don't do a lot of editing tasks on the PPC. But I sync between home and work and I am changing tasks & due dates constantly so the home PC treats them as if I created them on the PPC.

Not getting the folder selection dialogue in WMDC (PocketMirror & WM6)
dcbehan,
I'm on that 7-day PocketMirror trial with WM6 and WMDC. I like Chapura a lot. I used the product on Palm III & V waaay back then to sync with Outlook, and really want this to work.
I can check the PocketMirror conduit boxes through WMDC, but the links and double-clicking the icons are not working to get me to the place for selecting the Outlook 2007 folders.
Did you see behavior like that? What did you do to fix it?
Best,
Hi guys ....
I just reflashed the phone with crc32 winmobile 6.1 version.
Normally I have in my SIM card duplicates like this (that came from my motorola before this):
name1 mobilephone1
name1 homephone1
name1 someotherphone1
name2 mobilephone2
name2 ...
and so on. I try to transfer them with SIM manager, select all, copy to phone, but the duplicates it either wants to overwrite or skip. that's over 50 entries, so it's pointless to copy by hand, I can forget something.
Is it possible to do real copy of them without losing data?
Second question: Is it possible to somehow correctly sync (SyncML protocol) to gsmsync.net ... I could not find any free tool, the only one I've found (that MIGHT) work asks for 60$ My Motorola V3X was able to do it out of the box ... really useful for synchronizations, since I'm not using ms windows on my computer.
Also, SyncML *might* be the solution, as on the syncml server all contacts are correctly organized
My phone is AT&T 8525 if this matters
thanks in advance
Hello
I know this question gets asked a lot, and I've been through nearly all the threads, most are out of date or not relevant or applicable.
All i want to do is have my texts copied in a file so i can see it on my computer. I don't care if it is in text file, xml, if i can't export it back, all i just need to do is see the data on them, easily viewable with my computer. Whether notepad, word, anything.
Options I've checked but don't seem to work UNLESS YOU GUYS KNOW BETTER?
1) Bluetooth file transfer - was my first and easiest choice, not allowed on windows phone (Microsoft are worse than apple - retards).
2) my-backup pro like app on windows - none in the market place, so useless
3) using Zune - piece of turd software, worse than Sony's sonicstage. Why do these large companies always make simple tried and tested proven things harder and complicated. they only ever end up losing customers, but they never learn, they always think they are smarter than they are.
4) exporting to skydrive - not possible as limited access to internet, wifi and data usage for person involved.
5) sms back or dft bluetooth software - all require extreme cases of tech knowledge to unlock phone first, and possibility of unstable phone afterwards.
6) drag and drop the text files from the phone onto the computer - usb browsing of the phone seems to be have been disabled with later updates of windows phone. so don't know if this is possible to access the text files and just copy them over to my computer. Anyone know better?
7) windows phone 7.8 - rumors flying about saying that all of this will be possible with windows phone 8, but does anyone know if it will be possible with windows phone 7.8? Any form of backing up the texts onto the computer, either via Bluetooth transfer, drag and dropping from the phone onto pc, or built in backup, any option will do. i don't mind waiting if i know its coming, but if it isn't going to be coming to windows phone 7.8 then i might as well get rid of this horrible phone operating system right now, before it gets any worse. I have a bad feeling windows 7.8 is nothing more than a cosmetic update of the tile bars.
