Hi guys,
I have the Palm 750v unlocked with my T-mobile sim in. I have setup the Internet connection etc but the new MMS/SMS package sets up different and I cannot set up MMS .
Need someone who knows the password for T-mobile UK MMS
Anyone with any idea , even if you copy down the vodafone settings that would give me a guide of what is different.
Cheers
moved to treo section
Try this works for me
Thanks Chrisboy
Have you managed to get the device to send an MMS?
I havent tried to be honest but i did with my Tytn and it didnt work, i assumed it had to be switched on by Tmobile
Chris
mms I can't get working currently.
A network error (0x150) has occurred.
First things does anyone know where the automatic settings are linked too?
They must link back to a file in the registry or maybe in the windows file.
manual settings I have tried (same settings that work on my tytn still no luck)
The menu settings are different to the ones on my TyTN.
Menu,Options,Advanced
auto / manual
select manual then edit
If anyone gets it working on tmobile please post.
Thanks
speed tests are fantastic currently getting 1.1 megabits per second.

Is that on your Tytn or the 750V ???
Treo 750v chrissyboy6969. I love the device.
Dude how do you get 1.1mb/s on the device, HSDPA is not enabled the most i can get is 300kb/s
Not enabled a thing just did a speed test on the device and I am getting over 1mb always best so far is 1.1mb tmobile uk sim card. I know the phone doesn'y have wifi but I can live with these speeds over GPRS.
Very strange, i am on tmobile and i had the tytn before this and my speeds were around the same with the tytn but with this i can only get 300kb/s do you have the vodafone standard rom as well and what do you use to test the speed
Thanks
Chris
Guys Paul at Modaco sent me this . Its from the registery I guess the Vodafone part is hard set into the registry.
I have tried this and it doesn't work . If I open it with Notepad the Tmobile settings seem wrong . Is it simply just entering the correct values and you are done?
Treo 750 Clear MMS Settings
Today just got an "unlocked" Treo 750v (Vodafone Version).
The MMS settings are buried in the registry. Cannot get to them via typical set up options.
There is no way I can replace Cingular MMS settings with Tmobile (My carrier).
If I go and make change manually, the changes do not take effect. The next time I reboot/restart phone these settings disappear.
I have found registry import files in different forums, but none seem to make change properly.
Any ideas?
Yea , it seems an issue and it does come from within the reg. I have to date no none fix . Maybe some of the other more techy guys could help on the other forums.
I received my unlocked Treo750v yesterday.
So far I have been successfull in getting everything working except MMS messages.
Currently, I have aquired what I believe to be all the necessary information in order to send T-Mobile USA MMSs:
Message Center Number: +12063130004
Email Center Number: 500
MMS Gateway address: 216.155.165.050
MMS URL: http://216.155.165.050/servlets/mms
Network Profile: Default
Some people have stated they were unable to get these settings to stay after restarting their phone. I am not experiencing that problem. The closest I can get to reproducing that error is that when i turn off the cell capabilities, the Message Center Number disappears. However the correct number reappears when I turn the cell functions back on.
I've taken a brief look at the reg file in T_Mobile_750v.zip

Where did you make the changes to these new settings?
Did you make the network settings as "Manual" and enter these manually, or change the registry with these settings?
Thanks
OK, found a posting on TreoCentral that solves the MMS issue.... take a look

Works fine for me!
MMS Sorted Send and receive (UK Tmobile)
Setting, Connections, Connections
add a connection (You may have one if you using GPRS on tmobile)
if not enter a name for the connection i.e Tmobile GPRS
modem Cellular Line GPRS.3G)
Access point general.t-mobile.uk
username - user
password - one2one
Finish
Start, Messaging, Menu, Options, Advanced,
Click Manual then edit
Message center number should already be there
Email Center number (Blank)
MMS Gateway - 149.254.201.135:8080
MMS URL - http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
Network Profile - Tmobile GPRS
I use the same profile as my GPRS Internet but some people just add one under connections called Picture Messaging or something along them lines.
I took a look at the registry file and changed it and got everything working but when you restart the phone settings default to the original ones which cause message to stop send and receiving.
I also took some pictures of some speed tests as I am getting over 1mb speeds.
I am so happy with my Treo 750v it was a good buy everything that I want is now working. more pictures in my next post.
Tried what yo have and still sits there at 10%
Can you put some screen shots up of your network settings
Hello guys
Please help! I've just got my Palm Treo 750v unlocked. The phone works fine on T-mobile but I can't get a GPRS connection. I've tried changing the settings and setting up a new t-mobile GPRS connection but i still can't get it connected.
I seem to have a wap contract connection (I presume this is preinstalled by Vodafone and must be Windows reg related) which always overides when i reboot the Palm.
If you can help I would be really grateful

1) go to start / settings / connections
2) if an existing connection exists click manage existing connections or add a new modem connection
3) if existing connection click edit or tap New
4) enter name - e.g. T-Mobile Inter.
5) select a modem - cellular line (GPRS, 3G)
6) access point name - general.t-mobile.uk
7) user name - t-mobile
8) password - one2one
9) click finish
you should be good to connect now
btw - you can always call t-mobile for support - they are really helpful
I tried this but after entering the name and modem the Treo asks 'Enter the number exactly as it should be dialed.'. What number do I put in here? I then tried using GPRS instead and I just get 'No modem at the above number.'.

If it is asking for a number, it sounds like you are setting up a WAP connection and not a GPRS connection.

What are the proxy settings for Cingular Palm 750 with T-Mobile UK sim card?
I've unlocked my Cingular Palm Treo 750 and can make voice calls without any problem.
I still can't access the internet.
I've entered the settings and when I launch the browser, it first show 'locating' and then 'opening' in the status bar, but the web page never opens.
I know that with Cingular there were some proxy settings and so I wonder if I need to enter any here.
The proxy fields are:
1. This network connects to the internet
2. This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
3. Proxy Server (name)
4. Http:
5. WAP
6. Secure WAP
7. Socks
Hey all. I just wanted to give you a heads up. I started a thread on Hofo a day ago. There are actually two about this topic now.
Appearently Cingular had the wireless.cingular.com proxy set on IE. It's in the registry, not in the connection profile. The default connection profile is still wap.cingular without the proxy, but IE will use the proxy.
I assume they did this so that IE could access http://device.home/ the Media Net site, which you need the proxy to access. They did something else to make IE really work right with Media Net, so that's good, but you can't disable the proxy.
This has a few ramifications:
1) IE is slower due to the proxy.
2) The proxy may compress images.
3) You can't access the internet from IE using a Wifi card or if you change your access point to isp.cingular
I started deleting IE connection settings in the registry and managed to disable it. I screwed up the WAP settings in the process. So I have to isolate the registry setting(s) that are specific to this proxy.
It's something we should all do (disable the proxy.) You can still acess it by changing to the MediaNet connection profile should you want to later, but trust me you don't want the proxy set all of the time in IE.
Unfortunatley IE's settings don't have access to edit the proxy setting in IE, it's in the registry only. At least so far I haven't found a setting.
I'll keep you posted. My Treo 750 is appearently defective and I'm working on getting it swapped, so I'm going to be tied up with solving this for at least a day.
Here are two of the threads:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=8553147
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1085384
RF9, just like I posted on HowardForums, please keep us all posted.
Thanks!
I isolated it. To disable the cingular proxy setting in IE:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings]
The default setting (that uses the proxy) is:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000000
Change it to:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000001
Or simply delete it. It's more of the fact that if it's there and =0 it's used. if it's missing it's not used. But changing it to =1 will also make it disable. This way you can simply change the value back without re-adding the seting back in.
Full details are in my post here:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=8555248#post8555248
I will attempt to .cab an .xml file that will allow you to import the change without a registry editor.
Is this key there right after a hard reset or does it only appear *after* the SIM is installed and the device is turned on?

I'm really not sure at this point.
I finally got this registry edit (or "Hack" if you prefer) in to a .cab file that you can download and install without ever installing a registry editor.
It's perfectly safe to use. There are two cab files.
1) To disable the existing proxy server setting
2) To restore the proxy server setting back to the default state.
All it does is change the existing registry value from 0 to 1.
Get it here:
http://www.gadgetech.info/treo/hacks/disableproxy/index.shtml#Download:
Download the two .CAB files to your Treo 750. Just click on it to install it like you would any other .CAB file.
To verify that it's installed. Try to browse to http://device.home/ . If you can get to it the proxy is enabled. If yoiu can't, it's (most likely) disabled.
If you use isp.cingular or a wifi card, of course it will only work if it's disabled.

I just verified. These settings are NOT there before the SIM is inserted. Only after the SIM is registered (SIM inserted, and phone turned on) do those settings become enabled.
Good catch. So it's not hard-coded. It's a carrier preference. I would assume that if I put a non-cingular SIM in the phone this setting would disappear. Palm does specified configuration based on the SIM inserted on thier Palm OS line, I assume they've done this on WM5.
I've been through the MSDN documentation and there's a whole big section devoted to carrier provisioning which is what this is.

Hey,
I'd like to know if there is a solution to give the PIE a special proxy setting via the registry.
Due to some restrictions i am forced not to make general proxy settings in the connection manager, but i want the PIE to route via an proxy. Since PIE doesn't provide a proxy setting within the program i'm wondering, if there is the possibility to do so in the registry....
anyone know how to copy ROM files?? I found a DLL and registry entries for "PorkPie.dll" in the \Windows folder that I think is responsible for the cingular proxy hard coding and other customizations.
RF9, I noticed your Fido logo in your profile... Have you managed to get IE to work with a Fido SIM using this method?
Pls help : Unlocked Treo750 - Not able to view websites
Hi - I bought unlocked Cingular treo750 from US and now using in India. Have setup my ISP and using the Internet. I can now download my emails, use Pocket MSN but unfortunately not able to see any website on IE. It keeps says "Locating" to any kind of website I want to view.
The problem is only on viewing websites. IMAP email and Pocket MSN works perfect therefore I presume the connection is perfect.
Could you please help me on this.
After some time - The message appears "Page can not be downloaded as the connection was lost..."
Thanks very much.

Treo 750 Proxy Disable
Hi RF9
I have been following your thread on getting a treo 750w from Cingular to work on the Fido network. I have tried to change the registry settings as you have described:
- <wap-provisioningdoc>
- <characteristic type="Registry">
- <characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings">
<parm name="EnableAutoDetect" value="1" datatype="integer" />
</characteristic>
</characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
I got the download, but I am afraid I am not familiar enough to know how to install the changes on my phones software. Could you please do a more step by step explanation for me (us). Everything works on my Fido phone except when I go to a web page I get: "connecting" "locating" and then "page cannot be displayed".
Many thanks for your help. Ian

Enquiring Minds
Please forgive my lack of technical savy; I am really struggling to learn all of this stuff...so my questions might seem a bit "stupid"... (it's just my old age showing!
Could this proxy thing be causing my problems in accessing bank of america's website? I was able to do so just fine on my old Treo 680, nad my AT&T Tilt (I hated that phone!), but on my 750 with WM6, I keep receiving a message that says "For security reasons, your device can't access Mobile Banking" I also cannot access other banking sites as well.
If so, will making these changes cause other issues?
Thanks for your patience and information. You folks here are the best!

Are you using an AT&T branded 750 with the WM6 upgrade, or a generic or other branded 750? I have the AT&T branded one.

Yes, I have the at&t branded with the official WM6 upgrade also. I do have the at&t CapPackage removed per the instructions on this site but all the MediaNet dB is intact.
Cap Package?
I have not heard about that one? Can you elaborate, or point me in the rigt direction? Thansk!
Tom
RF9, this is very similar to what I'm experiencing, but when I go to "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi on\Internet Settings" the EnableAutoDetect value is already set to 1.
I have the AT&T Tilt, which came with WM6.

Hi to All;
Im sorry if im posting this email on a wrong thread. My apologies am not very familiar with this type of threads. I would like to ask for any assistance on my Mobile fone. I bought a Treo 750 AT&T from a friend who works in the States who brought his mobile fone here in the Philippines. I am now using the Treo 750 here in the philippines using a local network provider. I can send sms using the local network but I can't seem to connect to the internet and can't even send an MMS. Ive have tried hopelessly but there would always b e a promp which says" Connecting to : AT&T , connecting to GPRS,3G.." and it can't connect...I also tried to access yahoo and internet explorer but the same thing, could'nt access as well. I tried to ask assistance from the network's wireless center but they said that they could not help me on this problem either. I am no left with an expensive mobile phone with a lot of features, but couldn't use them. I hope somebody can help me with this type of problem.
Best regards,
Abrille
I've tried setting up the Treo with the same GPRS settings I've used on the Wizard but it still doesn't work. Has anyone else run into this problem? Please share your settings.
sure
you just have to enter either wap.voicestream.com or internet2.voicestream.com in the Access point settings. I run a 750 with T-mobile for a while now with no problems.
I'm having the same problem with the Fido network. The settings that always work in WM5 devices won't work on this this unit. Can anyone shed some light on this? Are there some settings in the registry that need to be edited?
Nope. No reg settings needed. Just configure with the standard T-Mobile settings and go.
I've got it to work, somehow. I left the settings as they are and did a soft reset a couple of time and it worked. I actually gave up but it worked in the end without me realizing.
Another thing I've learned by messing with the settings, I can actually sign into Pocket MSN by taking out the proxy settings! This makes me very happy. I've also tried the same thing on my previous phone, the T-mobile MDA (Wizard) and the ended up with the same result!
I've just got a Treo 750 and I am on T-Mobile but I do not know what settings to enter to get onto the internet. Any ideas? Thanks.
if you have t-mobile, the setting should be loaded automaticly (it did to with my Treo at the german T-mobile). Or you use the manual on https://shop.dangaard.de/files/Qtek/Qtek.htm
There you can also download a setting cab which you can install - this will automaticly install the settings.
I have a T Mobile MDA (Wizard), unlocked on UK O2. I flashed to Faria Crossbow WM6 a while ago and everything is fine apart from getting MMS to work. I have manually input the network settings for WAP, MMS etc. but when sending error message states 'error synchronizing' and it stays in the outbox.
I downloaded the O2 operator settings cab file from the ftp site which always worked with WM5 but it doesn't add any settings in WM6.
Maybe unconnected but I used to have the G gprs icon before I flashed - haven't seen it since - any ideas?

have you tried manually entering both the GPRS and MMS settings from your carrier as opposed to a cab file?
I have the same problem with NBD 7.1 rom.
No problem with Core2.0
I'm using usual Vodafone MMS settings!
As writen above, do not rely on CABs (I had also a problem with one "MMS setting" CAB not doing it properly), do it manually...
I did it succesfully in XDA MOBILE 6 (making MMS connection in Setting > Connections > Connections and then setting its usage in Messaging).
It is more work, but it is safer.
Your operator certainly has some instructions (in my case I worked according to the instructions how to set it in WM5 on MDA III - they were still good for WM 6 on MDA Vario).
If you have problems in one specific ROM, post to that thread (maybe the coook screwed up/removed MMS).
