Do you also have a blank screen while recording a video in AVI format ?
This is really annoying because you can not see what you are recording. When I select video in MP4 format, I don't have this problem, I can see on the screen what I am recording.
But I want the AVI format, too little app are able to read .mp4 files.

I've recently downloaded a MKV file with subtitles but i can't find the srt file however when it play it with VLC player its there. My problem is that when i convert it to mp4 for my phone the subs are gone! Is there anyway to like make it reappear.
The subtitle (using mkv merge) shows S_TEXT/ASS (ID3, type: subtitles) when i put the mkv in. I tried muxing it but it still doesn't show up when i convert it.
Is there a solution?
I dont think WP7 supports subtitles yet, to tell you the truth subtitles on a mobile device would be tiny and i dont know why you would want to, but that's just me. If you really want the subtitles your going to have to hard encode them into the video which means re-encoding the whole thing again, which means diminished quality.

Did you thought about Hard-Subbing the movie?It's fast and easy.

Just use some more advanced media player, like MX Video Player. Streams mkv, mp4 and avi seamlessly over upnp - So ill guess it plays most others as well.
I'm using DicePlayer. It plays everything so far.

I have a bunch of mkv's I decoded myself from some dvd's using a free software for windows, but when I play them with mx player on the note 10.1 I can only use sw and not hw.

No, but I have the same experience. Many video's need SW b/c HW will either not play, or produce audio mismatch.
I use hw for video and sw for audio... Works fine but doe go out of sync when just using hw...
Why do you convert dvds to mkv ?
You can convert them to mp4 or avi with ac3 audio.
The files are smaller and the video quality is the same.

cos it's an easy software and process: put in the dvd, select language and subtitle, click convert and in a few minutes I get the movie ripped to an mkv file.

You should try : SUPER oder dvd to avi converter or format factory

I record a very long video every day and I already use the lowest resolution I can.
The high quality of the camera makes the movies to catch a lot of space
on my phone .
Is there a way to record direct to another format like AVI or WMV format ?

I tried in my computer to convert 1 of the MP4 file to AVI and he reduce the file from 4GB to about 1GB file.
MP4 AVI or WMV just format of container. What matters is the resolution codec and bitrate. You can try to search how to config android camera codec. May be change a configuration xml somewhere. I'm not familiar with it but wish this could help.
Hi, im having the following issue when trying to share the videos i recorded with my HTC U11, hope there is some fix for this.
I recorded a video with High-Res and the only way to share this video is with .mkv format, but the video needs to be edited and when is imported to Premiere there is no audio, neither if i convert the video to mp4 with media encoder, also tried to convert with VLC but no success.
Is there anyway or option that i missing to either extract the audio and insert it on a mp4, or convert the entire video to mp4 with audio?
