IGO 8

I have installed in wm6.1 IGO 8, but when running the application gives me an error, lack memory. I have done a hard reset and I have installed new application with the same result.
Error
Out of memory.
Requested: 19200
Cache: 525940
Someone with the same problem?
Any comment on that?

hi i had the same problem here and i resolved it installing a wm5 wwe rom that gives me 26mb free ram even if sometime the problem appears again

The 64mb Uni is unfortunately not up to it when running IGo8.
With about 24mb of free ram it won't even start due to memory shortage. With 26mb and all terrain and buildings switched off it runs on Jwrightmcps Wm6 , but after about 10 mins it starts freezing.
I'll stick to TomTom, and only use the IGo when needed due to the newer maps.

I have a hp h5450 winth wm2003 too and in this machine IGO 8 work ok.

Do you use TTS? If you do, change to non-TTS. That does the trick for me.
I use Canada maps though so there's no 3D buildings to worry about, even though I have all those options enabled. May need more memory if there's 3D buildings on the map I suppose.
At first, some people suggested to have at least 27MB of RAM and I didn't have that much so I thought that's the problem. After playing around with a few other ROMs that give me at least 27MB before running it, still no go. I was about to give up but then I decide to go with non-TTS and see what happens. It worked. I had roughly 24 MB when I tested it. 30Km distance. Simulate mode.
With TTS, didn't get very far and that error popped up.

I have iGO8 running on my Qtek which has a vanilla WM6 Rom on it from
Mo3ulla.
Before I start iGO i have normally 26,5mb of free prog mem and while running the app I O/C my cpu.
Well, iGO runs ok, I have the 3D building/TTS deactivated. The only problem I have it that sometime after 30-45 min my 3D map dissapears. It starts that I miss parts of my map and it ends with an "empthy" map. I do keep my 2D map, the blue pointer and the route guidance...A restart of iGO brings back my 3D map!
I asked Nav N Go support desk of advice just to be told that my device is currently not supported and that he did not known why I whas loosing my 3D map. Whether he whas clueless or could not be asked I dont know...

From other forums I found out that iGO8 normally takes up to 36mb free prog mem, but that it is normally happy with 24-26mb and that it leave always 4mb for other applications.
Well, I have decided to upgrade my Qtek to 128mb Ram, I have invested in a navigation program capable of showing 3D terrain/buildings and I end up switching this mode off...

IGO8 is beautiful precisely for the 3D texture.
I will have to upgrade my uni to 128MB, but I don´t know where it do in Spain.

Auto Program Closing ?!

Hy,
I'm using my own cooked WM6.1 rom, but i noticed that the programs in background automatically closes in some minutes.
Example:
I'm using webcam plus in screen mode, works perfectly. I open an application on ppc, leaving the webcam plus running and sending the screen, but after some seconds (~5-10 secs), the screen freezes on the PC, and when i open task manager theres no Webcam plus. Same with other programs too.
can it be the wrong pagepool? i think i have set it to 8 mb
i have 45 mb total program memory, usually 15 free, and its hardly ever goes higher than 80% usage (because programs closes?)...
whats the problem, and how can i stop it?

It really depends on the memory that that program you open needs. What is it that you're opening?

iPaint, im drawing some lines, and the webcam program closes. but i dont think i havent got enough memory, it must be at least 10 mb free when its happening..

Okay, I see. My mobile can run out of memory while 2 program runs. But are there any way to disable to close them? It's vry bad that i can't listen to music while sending an SMS or anything...

If you're running out of memory, there is nothing you can do but get more memory. Either bring the pagepool down to 4mb and gain an extra 4mb or find another way to increase your RAM.

I didnt want more ram, I just though when theres no enough ram, the program slows down, and the windows tryin to get some more ram from the system files (just like in windows vista), but its closes my applications not the system (eg gwes is always around ~7M or more..) :O
I've got my phone for a couple of months, and before this rom i remember I played age of empires 2, with windows media player in the background, it was laggy, but it worked and the music player didnt closed while playing...

Windows Mobile doesn't use a swap file like the real windows does. It doesn't slow down due to swap file usage, it just closes programs. What ROM were you using before? It probably had more free RAM.

I think it was the original HTC rom for herald.
I changed the pagepool to 6M (cause i read that 4m can slow it down), now its okay. Thanks for your help.

It's a big problem, I can't keep my Twitter,downloader, and Messenger app to run at the background..
I have disabled the "auto kill" in HTC Task Manager with "Andvanced Config"..
I also have change the "memory thereshold" to 0 MB, then tried 1 MB, but the problem still there..

Hello,
this is Marius here from the Netherlands and I just bought a second hand polaris (touch cruise over here) a few days ago.
It's my first smart phone so I am all new to this kinda thing.
The question I have is the following.
My phone is running a custom rom and windows mobile 6.5
Where it all came from I don't know this is the state it was in when I bought it.
But some how I think the phone is to slow, and there a some bugs in it.
First off the info:
Rom version: 3.60.23016 WWE
Radio version: 1.59.42.23
Windows mobile 6.5
When I clink on the memory usage it's mostly just on 15 mb free.
Is that normal for this phone..??
When I start up opera mini browser it tells me to close a tab (witch I didn't open) because it's running low on memory.
When I just click that away it works okay but still.
The touch flo interface stop from time to time, and it tells me to restart it then. Witch it does okay but I wonder why it just stops working.
This happens mostly when I open the you tube application.
The movies in the you tube are running very slow as well sound and movie are not in sync.
But that's my last worry
First of I want to know if the memory usage is normal.
Where I can find the touch flo interface and how to disable it so it wont start up with windows mobile. (just want to test if the phone runs better then and if I can live without the touch flo).
I know my questions are newbie, and I know there is tons of information on this forum and all over the intehweb but with all that information there is to much and I can't see the right info that I need.
So any help would be much appreciated, if there is no room for that in this forum some personal help through e-mail would be great as well.

Is that normal..??

There is no normal memory usage for the phone. It's different from ROM to ROM. Do you know what custom ROM is on there? You should flash your phone to another ROM that will give you more free memory. That sounds like it will solve most of your problems. For example I am running a 6.1 ROM with no 3D drivers and Touchflo, and I get a over 30mb free. Do your research on here, determine which ROM you want and flash it. I think Pcar's 6.5 ROMs are good and he has a non 3D drivers version which should give you more memory (that is if you want to stick with 6.5). Otherwise flash a 6.1 ROM, there are plenty on here.

I have no clue where to start with flashing this phone to another rom, (I flashed my tom tom device a couple of times now but this phone software is totally new to me).
Any clue in where to start my search or learning process would be very much appreciated..
I know search these forums, but with topics stretching over 60 pages it's hard to filer out the right information..

First thing you want to do is decide whether you want to go with 6.1 or 6.5. There are a lot of 6.5 ROMs out there. Start with a 6.5 ROM with no 3d drivers for starters. You can go with pcarvalho's ROM at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=506043. I don't normally recommend one ROM over another, but I know that the thread linked above has a lot of activity and you will get a lot of support if you ask questions. Word of advice, read up a lot before you ask questions. Nobody likes to answer the same question over and over again.

installed ExtRom Unlocker, still cant write into ExtRom

but still running out of memory. After hard reset only 10 MB Programmemory
After installing Sktools an phone alarm only 4 MB left. Programs won't run anymore. Tried to install these Programs into ExtRom -. doesn't work.
Still installs into main memory.... no matter what i tried...
help me anybody out there?

with wm5 I used wisbar advance to realy close programs. http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products/pocketpc/WisBarAdvance/
Later in WM6 and 6.1 there was a setting to say close program when hitting the X or OK button.
Now in WM6.5 Tomal 12.1. it is preset to close the programs with X.

If you have a 64Mb device running out of memory is inevitable with WM6.5, you will be limited to what you can run and memory-hungry programs will create havoc.

igo primo on touch2

Hi Guys,
I have an iGo Primo 8.5.9.142948 (Rel. may 11 2010).
It runs smoothly until I start a route navigation. When navigation is ongoing it gets an error message 'there is not enough memory free to run' which message covers the whole screen.
I've checked in these situations and there is quite much memory free to use (about 100MB).
This issue comes up on irregural basis. Sometimes it can run for 1 hour long, sometime it crashes after 5 minutes.
The application itself seems OK, as I tested to execute it, just without navigating with good result.
(I have ROM 1.28.401.4 (66092), WinMo 6.5 Prof, Build 21874.5.0.80)
Is there any way to trace the memory consumption or make automatic log about application crashes, unexpected events (like in desktop PC windows)?
Does anyone know something about WinMobile memory usage?
Please advise!

Thanks for the app, but seems doesn't help. It disables my home screen which could be good, but my problem is not with the lack of memory.
There are much memory free when running igo primo, but suddenly the WinMo decides that there are no more free memory (however there is about 95MB free) and it closes Primo.
I would trace somehow the events and memory consumption meanwhile executing the navi app.
Or if someone has already met with this problem and knows the fix that would be the best
