I have installed in wm6.1 IGO 8, but when running the application gives me an error, lack memory. I have done a hard reset and I have installed new application with the same result.
Error
Out of memory.

Someone with the same problem?
Any comment on that?
Thanks in advance.
same problem
hi i had the same problem here and i resolved it installing a wm5 wwe rom that gives me 26mb free ram even if sometime the problem appears again
Thank you for your reply.
The 64mb Uni is unfortunately not up to it when running IGo8.
With about 24mb of free ram it won't even start due to memory shortage. With 26mb and all terrain and buildings switched off it runs on Jwrightmcps Wm6 , but after about 10 mins it starts freezing.
I'll stick to TomTom, and only use the IGo when needed due to the newer maps.
I have a hp h5450 winth wm2003 too and in this machine IGO 8 work ok.
Do you use TTS? If you do, change to non-TTS. That does the trick for me.
I use Canada maps though so there's no 3D buildings to worry about, even though I have all those options enabled. May need more memory if there's 3D buildings on the map I suppose.
At first, some people suggested to have at least 27MB of RAM and I didn't have that much so I thought that's the problem. After playing around with a few other ROMs that give me at least 27MB before running it, still no go. I was about to give up but then I decide to go with non-TTS and see what happens. It worked. I had roughly 24 MB when I tested it. 30Km distance. Simulate mode.
With TTS, didn't get very far and that error popped up.
I have iGO8 running on my Qtek which has a vanilla WM6 Rom on it from
Mo3ulla.
Before I start iGO i have normally 26,5mb of free prog mem and while running the app I O/C my cpu.
Well, iGO runs ok, I have the 3D building/TTS deactivated. The only problem I have it that sometime after 30-45 min my 3D map dissapears. It starts that I miss parts of my map and it ends with an "empthy" map. I do keep my 2D map, the blue pointer and the route guidance...A restart of iGO brings back my 3D map!
I asked Nav N Go support desk of advice just to be told that my device is currently not supported and that he did not known why I whas loosing my 3D map. Whether he whas clueless or could not be asked I dont know...
fact is they are NO help!
From other forums I found out that iGO8 normally takes up to 36mb free prog mem, but that it is normally happy with 24-26mb and that it leave always 4mb for other applications.
Well, I have decided to upgrade my Qtek to 128mb Ram, I have invested in a navigation program capable of showing 3D terrain/buildings and I end up switching this mode off...
Ciao!

IGO8 is beautiful precisely for the 3D texture.
I will have to upgrade my uni to 128MB, but I don´t know where it do in Spain.
Greetings and thanks for your reply.

About iGo working with Rdosti v.11, I received answer in ROM's thread: there are problems with BT, losing connection after little time.

The only choice of PPC mapping software for Non-Chinese speaking users in Asia is pretty much Mapking. And Mapking exerts a hefty prices for it: HKD 280 for Beijing only, HKD 330 for Hong Kong and so forth. Add some cities and you’ll be talking real money.
However, Mapking is a total dud on both of my Hermes (WM5) and Trnity (GPS, WM6.) Mapking2007 AND Mapking G10 refuse to load on both devices. They give me a splash screen and die. The only thing I get loaded is the obsolete Mapking5, and that has no maps for sale.
If you google "Mapking" and "splash screen," you will see that this phenomenon is widespread. I found lots of complaints and no solution.
However, Mapking does nothing to address the issue.
I have sent [email protected] several emails, from friendly to grumpy, and ALL emails remained unanswered. Mapking is either dead, or they are playing dead. They collect money for product that is unfit for sale. And they ignore their customers.
Google Maps is free and works like a charm in HK. Alas, no Google maps for Beijing. I’m wide open for suggestions.
D810 English rom + Mapking G10 here, from WM5 to WM6, from HK to Taipei to Beijing, worked like a charm, no problem experienced.
No Problems here
PDAViet rom 10
Mapking 2007, Hong kong, Hong Kong Hiking, Shenzen, Manila maps installed. always found it very stable
D810 English rom + Mapking 2007 + Malaysia maps - working fine.
Upon launching Mapking, it will wait between 3-8 mins b4 GPS initiate.
Guess is common as it take time to load the GPS.
mapking - splashscreen - Quits
Dont know if anyone solved the Mapking closes after Splashscreen issue yet but i kinda fixed it.
I installed Pocket Mechanics, Low Level format the Card. Set Cluster size to 4K.
Reinstall mapking 2007 and its working. Still testing it. Unless there is a problem. I wouldnt be posting anything.

Hi
This is VERY interesting, I have a d810=Trinity and have the same Splash screen problem. Please let me know what version of Pocket Mecahnic you installed and how did you configure it.
By the way when i install the Mapking R12 version everything works OK but there are missing maps like India etc. If someone knows how to convert G10 or 2007 maps to the R12 map format this would be great.
splash screen issue
I had trouble getting Mapking (G10 and below) to work on WM5 too. All I had to do was move a bunch of files off of the card and reinstall then it launched the first time and has worked ever since. It wasn't a card space issue, it seems to have something to do with it scanning the card (for map files?) on first startup. I could move the files back onto the card after that without issues. I just upgraded to WM6 and G10 installed fine, albeit with a half empty 2GB card this time...
I should clarify, I believe the issue was NUMBER of files, not the space used on the card. In any case, try moving as many files off as possible, reinstalling, and see if that works...

Which files did you move, from where and where to??
If I remember correctly it was just a ton of assorted files from "My Documents" It didn't seem to me to matter what it was, just to reduce the number of files on the card.
@ausi
According to this http://www.ppcsg.com/lofiversion/index.php/t89755.html you can just change the extension for compatibility between the g10 and 2007. I'd almost bet the same thing applies to r12 since it is supposed to just be a rebranded version of one or the other for OEMs (I think it's closer to g10, maybe minus a few features)
Robotbrain:
I tried it but it didn't work for me.
Hi,
The above problem plague many mapking users, surprising never see a reply from the company that make this excellent navigation software for pocketpc. Well after many sleepless night and different configurations, finally found out the real cause.
The problem lies with the mapking program don't like any directories and files that the characters added up together be more than 128 characters. This is root of all the problems.
a, No problem.
\Storage card\Programs Store\abc.txt
b. Got problem. The below complete file path is more than 128 characters.
\Storage card\Programs Store\1234567890\12345678901234567890\123456789012345678901234567890\1234567890123456789012345678901234567890\abc.txt
Also, Mapking only search for mapfiles on the location that it is being installed. For example, if the mapking is installed in the phone/pocketpc main memory, it will only search for maps there. If mapking is installed in Storage Card, it will therefore only search there.
There are few senerios that will make users complain that mapking cannot work. For example,
1. For 1st start after installing mapking, if there is any directories/files that is more than 128 characters, mapking will exit after displaying the splash screen and will keep doing that.
2. If there is no directories/files that is more than 128 characters, after showing the splash screen, mapking will run and show the default mapfile(hk demo map). It will create a registry key in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Apps\MapAsia MapKing2007\Init
MainMapFile=\Where is the installed directory\Where is the installed directory\mapfile name.m7a
User can add additional maps on the place where mapking is being installed. In the phone/pocketpc main memory or the Storage Card, and the user will be happy.
3. But down the road, the user unknowingly installed some software or add any file that has a complete path name more than 128 characters, the user will still able to use mapking, but he can't Open Map(search for new map) any more. If he tries to Open map, the hour glass will keep spinning. If the user delete or move the map, the mapking program cannot run after the splash screen, it will says Cannot load map or no map found. The program is the registry key still remains MainMapFile=\Where is the installed directory\Where is the installed directory\mapfile name.m7a so, since the map stated is not there it will create an error and exits.
So long story short, if want to run mapking, don't create or have any directory or file path name that is more than 128 characters in the same memory location(phone/pocketpc main memory or the Storage Card) as mapking.

Hy,
I'm using my own cooked WM6.1 rom, but i noticed that the programs in background automatically closes in some minutes.
Example:
I'm using webcam plus in screen mode, works perfectly. I open an application on ppc, leaving the webcam plus running and sending the screen, but after some seconds (~5-10 secs), the screen freezes on the PC, and when i open task manager theres no Webcam plus. Same with other programs too.
can it be the wrong pagepool? i think i have set it to 8 mb
i have 45 mb total program memory, usually 15 free, and its hardly ever goes higher than 80% usage (because programs closes?)...
whats the problem, and how can i stop it?
thx

It really depends on the memory that that program you open needs. What is it that you're opening?

iPaint, im drawing some lines, and the webcam program closes. but i dont think i havent got enough memory, it must be at least 10 mb free when its happening..
Okay, I see. My mobile can run out of memory while 2 program runs. But are there any way to disable to close them? It's vry bad that i can't listen to music while sending an SMS or anything...
If you're running out of memory, there is nothing you can do but get more memory. Either bring the pagepool down to 4mb and gain an extra 4mb or find another way to increase your RAM.
Okay, thanks for your help.
I didnt want more ram, I just though when theres no enough ram, the program slows down, and the windows tryin to get some more ram from the system files (just like in windows vista), but its closes my applications not the system (eg gwes is always around ~7M or more..) :O
I've got my phone for a couple of months, and before this rom i remember I played age of empires 2, with windows media player in the background, it was laggy, but it worked and the music player didnt closed while playing...

Windows Mobile doesn't use a swap file like the real windows does. It doesn't slow down due to swap file usage, it just closes programs. What ROM were you using before? It probably had more free RAM.
I think it was the original HTC rom for herald.
I changed the pagepool to 6M (cause i read that 4m can slow it down), now its okay. Thanks for your help.
It also happens with my Hermes and Raphael..
It also happens with my Hermes and Raphael..
My Hermes (Dopod 838 pro) running official WM6 ROM
My Raphael (HTC Touch Pro) running stock WM6.1 ROM (Version 1.9)
It's a big problem, I can't keep my Twitter, downloader, and Messenger app to run at the background..
I have disabled the "auto kill" in HTC Task Manager with "Andvanced Config"..
I also have change the "memory thereshold" to 0 MB, then tried 1 MB, but the problem still there..
Hi,
I have problems with my HTC Touch Pro, it freeze a lot. I have try many roms and with everyone is the same. Freeze on every game, after few minutes of playing, freeze on music, after few minutes, freeze on pictures view.
Like I sad, I have try many roms (energy, TAEL,...) and my radio ver. is 1.02.25.11
Does anyone have any idea what can I do about it, I need help badly
Look into Task29
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670358
if that doesnt solve your problem then its a hardware issue.
I doubt task 29 will do anything. The question is, what is it that you keep doing that is causing your device to freeze? What apps/processes are you running? Do you have 25+ processes running all the time? Are you running Sense or some other gawdawful crap? Are you running out of memory? This is where the answer lies. Forget Task 29, it's mostly a placebo imo.
Thank you hartleyshc, Task29 solve most of the problems
@Farmer Ted
Device have been freezing just after soft reset, so no active programs in background. Like I sad, I have try many different roms and with all is the same.
Soft reset, than I start the music, freeze. Soft reset, i start the game, after 30 sec. freeze.
Now, after Task29, after 1 day of testing, (with TAEL rom v5.23683) all works just fine, but there is still one problem. After soft reset, I start music from memory card, than i go to album to view my pictures, and than device start to slowing down and after 3-4 sec it freeze. Just music work fine and picture viewer without music also.
____________________
EDIT:
Freezing again
It have been working 1 day fine, and now it start to freeze again. When I receive a call, and when other one hang down, my phone freeze. Also, when I start playing the music, and go to home menu, start to flip screen, or anything else with music on, it freeze. When I start Teeter, playing just 10-15 sec. it freeze. It looks like that any high demand process freeze my phone. I have more than 50MB of free RAM at any point.
Yesterday i do Task29, install TAEL rom v5.23683, all work fine, except playing music and start viewing pictures at the same time, when it freeze. I have played more than 15 levels of Teeter, receive calls. Today...freezing.
Any help pls?
for me those things sound like a hardware problem. Did you test the memory for errors? there is a hardware-testing prog from htc ...
good luck!
I told you task 29 wasn't the answer, lol.
Here's what you need to do if you want help: list all of the processes you have running after a reset. 50 MB of free RAM is pretty awful, if you ask me. I have maybe 156 MB free after a reset, and after a day or two of use, will be down to 130-140 MB of free RAM (I run a tight ship, lol).
I would use a different music player. The HTC player is awful, in my experience. I haven't used manila in a looong time, but that was the first tab I would deactivate. It does a horrible job of building a library, and that will freeze the device for minutes at a time. I think there's a service you can kill to at least stop that from happening. But you're probably better off just using wmp or tcpmp or anything other than the HTC player. It is complete garbage, although it does look nice.
Try running this app on your device after a reset, and take and post a screenshot. It will show if anything awful is happening right after startup. If you can run it when the device freezes (or is about to), even better. You may want to assign it to a hardware button, and do the same with a screen shot app. SK Tools has a great screenshot shortcut.
Right after restart, this is memory:
free memory:
Total: 189.26 MB
In Use: 98.86 MB
Free: 90.40 MB
And here are the pictures:
Do you have any program to test my memory and processor?
See attachment for testing HTC, but be careful with this sw, you can damage your tp if you do something with it & you dont know what you are doing there...
i m on holiday for a week from tomorrow
Tnx borisku, I will give it a try.
And about Manila, i have tried Energy Rom with Titanium, with SPB Mobile Shell.... the same things have been happened
Now, I have started music, pictures viewer, and go to Virtual Memory app., take Snap shoot, it is almost the same as the one in attachment...and in the moment it done snap shoot, after 2-3 sec it freeze with music behind it and opened picture.
In the snapshot, it looks like you have some really low dll's in slots 8 and 19. What that means is that if you run an app that uses a lot of virtual memory, you will run into major issues. I would guess that the music player uses about 15-20 mb of virtual memory, and this is what is causing the freezing. The question is, what are those dll's, and why are they so low? Try running devhealth after a soft reset-this might help us figure out what is going on. You definitely shouldn't have and do not want those low-lying dll's. It could be an issue with the rom you're using, or it could be something that you are loading that's effing up the system. Devhealth will dump a file on your sd card; post it up. It takes a while to run (5-10 min).
Looking at it, you only have about 20 MB of virtual memory per process, which isn't good. If you load another app that loads a bunch of dll's then there will be even less. Check out my screen cap. There isn't a bunch of junk below where the rom modules load in each slot (in blue). There's a little green line in some slots (like slot 2) which is due to rsaenh.dll (there are also 2 dll's loaded in slot 10-services; softwaredisable.dll and lap_pw.dll). Otherwise, I've got about 26 MB of free virtual memory for every process, which is good. I effed up and cooked some stinkers that only had about 24 MB free VM per process once, and some of my memory hungry apps wouldn't work (wizcode scandisk was the worst). Your device freezes when an application runs out of virtual memory, or the app crashes, or something bad like that occurs.
Here is report:
I think the problem is that whoever cooked the rom may have been better off using modules instead of files, although I'm not 100% sure that would help. Services.exe has really low-lying dll-files. I'm talking about these guys:
Code:
17420000(0): -dddddD--- <-- DLL: vsddbmgr.dll
17430000(0): D <-- DLL: sddaemonservice.dll
17440000(0): DDDD <-- DLL: connsetupdload.dll + + +
175c0000(0): D <-- DLL: wlmcontactsdatabase.dll
175d0000(0): D <-- DLL: wlmshared.dll
17600000(0): D <-- DLL: taskbariconmgr.dll
17610000(0): ----D-- <-- DLL: ntfconfig.dll
17620000(0): -dd-dd-D--- <-- DLL: amebasvc.dll
17630000(0): D <-- DLL: cll.dll
17640000(0): -ddD-- <-- DLL: softwaredisable.dll
17650000(0): D- <-- DLL: oemagw.dll
17660000(0): -ddD-- <-- DLL: htcapi.dll
17670000(0): -dddddD--- <-- DLL: smarttouch.dll
17680000(0): DD-D <-- DLL: gpsprivacy.dll + +
176e0000(0): DD <-- DLL: htcsipsrvc.dll +
176f0000(0): D <-- DLL: lap_pw.dll
17700000(0): D <-- DLL: app_service.dll
17710000(0): -d-ddd---d-D--- <-- DLL: htcsensorservic3.dll
17720000(0): DDDDDD <-- DLL: stk_service.dll + + + + +
17730000(0): -dd-dD--D--- <-- DLL: htcservices.dll +
17790000(0): --D-- <-- DLL: ceperf.dll
The location of vsddbmgr.dll only leaves you with 21 MB of virtual memory, not just in this process slot but in all of them. There are definitely processes that will use up that amount of memory. PIE does it, especially if you load a full website (like espn) or run a flash video. So that will lead to crashing/freezing.
I'm not sure why ceperf.dll is in there. Did you load PerfMan? It's pretty darn useless (it's a performance monitor, and you need proprietary software to read most of the output).
Jeez, manila is using even more virtual memory-it eats up 12.125 MB of memory with dll's, so you have only 19.875 MB available per process. I'm not sure what to tell you. You probably can't fix this on your own, although you can just not load manila, and perhaps stop a few of the services. The best way to fix it (or at least try) would be to re-cook the rom using modules for all those dll's. That might help, but I've never cooked a rom loaded with that much stuff before myself. All of the oem drivers would be better off as modules, imo (a lot are files, which is how they come stock).
I don't know what does this Devhealth.exe do, but now, after it did what it did, phone work fine
Also, picture in Virtual Memory now looks different (I will post picture latter).
It is all fine now. I can play music and watch pictures in the same time, i can receive calls....
Weird, lol. Maybe the storage manager unloaded a bunch of dll's, and freed up memory.
I've seen profiles like that before, and it's usually with roms with Sense and a lot of other apps/processes that use a ton of resources. Personally, I think you're just better off using a lighter setup. Things are snappier and more reliable. If you just want to listen to music, there are more reliable ways to go.
Again the same problems backed
I will try now some 6.1 win rom, all previous was 6.5 build. I hope that this will help.
Also, I have run SPB Benchmark and all tests pasted fine, without phone freezing.
I have tried Win 6.1 ROM T.i.R. v10 R WWE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469606 and same problems repeats after 1 day of use.
I will try format memory card, and format phone, install this ROM again, with no any other extra apps, and if freezing repeats, than the phone is broken. No other solution
Does anyone know how to do full format of the phone? Is there anything stronger than Task29? I want to try all from beginning.
SOLVED! \o/
...by doing it just like in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502720
Now, with factory default, all doing just fine! \o/ It was working with this for a few days without single freeze and soft reset.
Now, the question:
Is it possible that problem was in olinex Hard SPL?
Hello
I am having this bad problem with Igo on my htc
It is so slow and i can not use search on streets becouse it is acting like i am pressing letter a all the time
why is Igo so slow, this is first time i have this problem,on other devices it works fine
you cant search because there's probably a compatibility bug between htc ezinput and igo8. you must install some other keyboard like spb keyboard or any other, then it wont bug, or install the newer iGo 8.5 which works and looks better
about z slow issue, i dont know but it works like a charm for me, you cant expect much from a 500 mhz processor if you loaded your phone with a gazzilion applications.. also feel free to delete maps and poi's for countries you dont visit often, or move the files to some other folder away from igo. having too much poi's can eat your memory and then you get the annoying low system memory message every few minutes.
hope you understood everythig
Hi Guys,
I have an iGo Primo 8.5.9.142948 (Rel. may 11 2010).
It runs smoothly until I start a route navigation. When navigation is ongoing it gets an error message 'there is not enough memory free to run' which message covers the whole screen.
I've checked in these situations and there is quite much memory free to use (about 100MB).
This issue comes up on irregural basis. Sometimes it can run for 1 hour long, sometime it crashes after 5 minutes.
The application itself seems OK, as I tested to execute it, just without navigating with good result.
(I have ROM 1.28.401.4 (66092), WinMo 6.5 Prof, Build 21874.5.0.80)
Is there any way to trace the memory consumption or make automatic log about application crashes, unexpected events (like in desktop PC windows)?
Does anyone know something about WinMobile memory usage?
Please advise!
hi, search for "uiflex"
this close automatic sense or other homescreen and starts your gps or other programs and when you close navigation then starts your homescreen new.
sry for this bad engl.
Hi,
Thanks for the app, but seems doesn't help. It disables my home screen which could be good, but my problem is not with the lack of memory.
There are much memory free when running igo primo, but suddenly the WinMo decides that there are no more free memory (however there is about 95MB free) and it closes Primo.
I would trace somehow the events and memory consumption meanwhile executing the navi app.
Or if someone has already met with this problem and knows the fix that would be the best
Thanks
