How to synchronize PDA with two PCs ?? - General Topics

Hello
Sorry if this is obvious for some people or can be found already at the forum, but I couldn't find it anywhere.
I would like to synchronize my PDA (HTC TyTN) with two PCs, one in my home and second in my office. Is that possible at all?
Thanks in advance for any help.

It is, except for Outlook mail.

Do you mean that I could synchronize everything (f.e. contacts, calendar) with two PCs except for e-mails?? That's what I want to do. Mostly those two things above. How I can do that? When I'm connecting my PDA to 2nd computer i can choose what I want to synchronize, but f.e. contacts, calendar are greyed out! So is there a solution?

i sync with my work and home computer no problems

ok so maybe you could tell me something more about it? how can I do that? Like I said when I'm connecting to 2nd PC some items are greyed out.

yeah i sync with my Work laptop and Home pc fine, one has to be the better of the 2 so i use my laptop as the main sync.
Home is just for favourites and passthru

OK so is that possible at all to organize contacts and calendar at work and in home as well? Both are desktop PCs so it would be hard for me to carry one of them around

ActiveSync Trashed Notes

Ok, I'm not sure if this is the place for this question or not ... but I would appreciate some guidance.
I have the Verizon XV6800 running WM6. I have ActiveSync setup. ActiveSync alone does a horrible job of syncing. It left most of my contacts out for whatever reason. So I installed PocketMirror and all my contacts sync no problem. I still have one tiny problem and am clueless about this.
Many of my contacts have notes. These sync from the PC to the phone just fine. But if I edit the notes on the phone, all newlines are removed when it syncs back to the PC. The notes look good on the phone but are now useless on the PC since every line runs together.
So if my contact's notes are
one
two
three
And I add "four" to the list using my phone, after syncing, it will become:
onetwothreefour
on my PC.
This feels like a solveable problem. But I don't have any idea where to look for this. Is it an Office 2003 setting? Is it an ActiveSync registry entry?
When I emailed PocketMirror, they responded and said:
"PocketMirror can synchronize additional contact folders. Are you using additional contact folders?". Why they hell they are asking me that? Who cares if I have extra folders or not. My question is about corrupted notes synchronizations.
I am also open to alternatives to ActiveSync or other solutions. I just want everything to work in both directions. Calendar, contacts, tasks, files, etc.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. If this is the wrong forum for this question, I apologize.
Thanks
Jerry

sync 2 calendars

Hi
I'm using a WM6.1 device and would like to sync at least the calendar with two exchange servers (2003 SP2). Ideally, i also would like to sync the contacts.
so:
ExchangeWORK <-> WM6.1 <-> ExhangeHOME
Anyone a solution please?
my thanks
Patrick
Not sure this will work, I was going to do something similar, with having all business contacts and appts. on my office computer and peronal on my notebook. The problem is, it's possible everything will get mixed together. So let's say you start with your work server, and all the info is on, now when you sync your home server, it will also grab the work info as well, now you'll just have everything twice, on both servers and your phone. The problem is, it syncs all data in the phone.
This is exactly what i want, just duplicate the date on my workcompu, homecompu and wm6 device.
Problem is that through activesync you can only sync your data (email, contacts, calendar, etc) with one partnership.
but i managed the above by using workaround
i use google calendar sync now and this works nicely
so on my workpc my exchange calendar is synced with my google calendar
and the same trick on my home pc.
not ideal, but it works nicely
now i have to find something for syncing my contacts
any sugestions?
thks
Patrick
I'm not sure about using an Exchange Server, never used myself, but after setting up the one, have you already tried setting up the other?
Also, there is a good chance this will duplicate everything though. Once the second server picks up the info from the first, it will all go back to the first when you sync with it, and visa versa.

One calendar synced with home and work

Hello
I have a question i want to sync my home agenda and my work agenda synced with my pocket pc but at work i don't want my home appointments and at work not my home appointments is there a way so i can devide them like when i want to insert an appointment into my pocket pc i can say it's for work and then later when i sync with my work pc it sync this appointment. I've searched a lot but can't find a solution (it's hard to search for this)
does no one has a solution for this
The only way i could think to make life easier is to have work appointments priority differently, different colour in outlook and home different too????

It will require administrator rights on your work computer, but if you use Pocketmirror by chapura you can set up each computer with a folder like instance. For home the folder will be called home and that is all you sync and for work, the same thing, call it work. Play around with it and you will see that is flexible, and although not exactly as you want, it can work for you.
thank you i'll try this
does anyone have a better solution
Assign to each appointment a category of 'home' and/or 'work'.
Then define your view in outlook to filter certain category (so at work, only see category 'work').
Of course, all items will be synced, but you will only see the ones that you want. Your PPC is also able to view by category if you wish.
I know it's only part solution, but this is the way I do it for now. Sadly the PPC can't hold two diaries (unlike my old Psion Revo!).
it's a good solution but not for me because my work agenda is a shared one so everybody at work can see my home appoitements and they don't need to know what i do when i am not at work

I had a quite similar problem, 2 Diamond 2, 2 PCs (work and private). But I work on XP, not with Windows7.
I connected first the work PDA with work PC, sync'd them. So I have all contacts and calendar on the PDA.
Then cleaned up Outlook on my home PC (delete all contacts and all calendar entries), connected work PDA with home PC, and sync'd again. Now I have all contacts and calendar on my home PC.
Next step is to sync private PDA with work PC and then with home PC, then I have all contacts and calendar on my private PDA.
Problem is, from time to time (I do not know why) ActiveSync is messing up and creating double contacts and calendar entries. And up to now I didn't find a solution to avoid this.
So I ended up with a more difficult solution. I do not need to sync calendar and contacts every day on my private PDA, so I use from time to time PPCPimBackup to backup on my work PDA, then copy the file to my private PDA and restore there.
Hope this helps you.
You can try sync all phones via bluetooth and hope that Sync Center will pick up all phones.

Sync between Android / WinMo

Hey
Is there any app out there wich could sync all PIM-Data like SMS,Contacts etc. to Android? I'd love an app that does this since I've got Android on my HD2?
If there isn't any software, I'll try to develop some on my own, but first I need to know a few things:
- how do get the messages (Mail and SMS) in WinMo (.net cf)
- and how to restore them??
- how to register an app to run before shutdown and as startup on android?
Thanks
Chabun
Did you try to use MyPhoneExplorer for syncing Outlook contacts to your Android ?
Hi,
I've search alot around to do that, tryed ogg synch and other stuff,
but now I've found that this way to synch android and winmo is the best (for me):
don't use outlook anymore on my pc instead I've created a gmail accound and use calendar , contact... exactly like on outlook but online.
On htc winmo I've made an activesync account with google server (m.google.com) and synch everything exept tasks.
And on htc Andro synch with google account.
Everyhing works ...

How can you possibly hope to use Android fully without a data plan
Google Sync will do just this !
Yes, i just stumbled onto this:
http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/
I just set up my active sync with m.google.com (follow the instructions, old, but still work) on my Window mobile, did one sync for everything except my email.
That part of it OK, i reboot to Android (MCCM Desire HD), synch my stuff there (using this same gmail address) and yes, all my contacts show up, contacts with multiple numbers, pictures (girls!) included, wow, just wow...
Give it i try, i'll go see if it actually synchs the calendar, my messages from winmo do not show up though.
Edit: sorry, i guess aegidios2 beat me to it, well here are the instructions, if you have no data plan, surely you can sync using Wifi ?
Update: Yes, i tested, it also syncs the calendar back from Android to WinMo, then Outlook pops op on my computer, informing me about the appointment i put in the calendar, wow, i am hooked !

I can do that, yes, but I want to be able to switch between them at any time - even if I'm not at home and no free wlan net is in reach!

Since there were only f****** expensive offers when I bought my hd2....
So I'm currently trying to develope an app for that, but I'm stuck on creating sms on WinMo (I tried the InTheHandSDK, but on my HD2 (latest Artemis ROM with WM 6.5.3) it crashes and in the emulator it fails to store the body of the sms). Does anyone know how to do that??
So I think there's no app which can handle that...
Now I'm wondering if anybody else would like to have such an app?
And I have still the problems with reading/restoring sms (on winmo), anyone who could help me?
Did you try mIQ, search for it on google
Only downside is you can sync only one device
I use Google Calendar Sync and Contacts Sync.
Done completely offline via your home PC. Works flawlessly as long as you have Outlook on your home PC.

Hey guys,
my conclusion to this thread is, there's no (portable) alternitive way of syncing with your 3g-network, if there's no app.
And that's the point, imagine you're on the beach abroad with your phone in your palm but currently winmo is running. So you start android and after a few seconds (SuperRAM is awsome) - f**** the sms from your GF/BF is not there...
Noway to sync with the net if you aren't a millionaire (roaming is s....).
And that's why I need an app, so I started to develop. I alreadey managed to get ceampi succesfully working. My winmo client is nearly finished. Now I need some android gurus to help me.
So anyone interested outthere willing to help? I need to know how to read all mesages stored in the folders (inbox, drafts etc.) and how to create new messages which are stored there as well.
Thanks
