what to do with BS113.nb1? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

hey,
what do i do with BS113.nb1 file? do i just copy this file onto a blank SD card n then put it in the mini n do a boot loader procedure (step 7 in ampda manual)? or do i have to do all the steps in the ampda manual?

you're kidding?
Use ntrw (through command prompt) to write the rom image (nb1 file) to the flash disk. it will not work if you just copy the file into a FAT32 formated disk through explorer.
Follow it step by step and you cant go wrong. Make it up as you go and you will prolly brick your device or just make it more difficult for yourself

O2 XDA II Mini Original Rom WWE - PLEASE!

Hey guys,
Well I succeeded in upgrading to Anansky's BigStorage ROM and was very satisfied, but now my stupid speaker broke (I have a similar problem to other users where they can hear sound if they blow into the speaker). I have to return the Magician so I need to revert back. Can someone PLEASE upload the original XDA II ROM PLEASE???
Here's a list of instructions on how to backup the ROM:
Backing up your ROM can be done by connecting your Magician to the PC through the data cable when you first uncheck the USB connection of active sync.
If your Magician connects with active sync because you didn't uncheck the USB connection in the active sync connection settings then you will not be able to backup your ROM to an SD memory card.
1. Before connecting your Magician you should bring it into the boot loader mode. This can be done by simultaneously pressing power + camera buttons and at the same time the soft reset button with the stylus.
2. After connecting your Magician to the PC through the USB in boot loader mode and having your SD card inserted into the MDA, you run romupdate.exe.
3. Then choose the USB connection in the connection settings of romupdate.exe window and click on ok. After that a terminal window will popup in that window.
4. Type d2s and press enter. Your Magician will start copying the ROM to the sd card. The screen of your Magician will be dark (no light), but you will see it counting up to 100%. When it reaches 100% it will say it is calculating the checksum. Give it some time till its done and it will say checksum ok.
5. After finishing the transfer of the ROM from your Magician to the SD card, put your SD card into an SD card reader connected to your pc. Your pc might pop up a warning message that says your SD Card is not formatted would you like to format? Click No and open a Command prompt (DOS) window.
6. Change directory to your root directory (cd c:\) and run the command ntrw read o2orig.nb1 x: where x is the drive letter of your sd card. That command will create the ROM Backup file of your ROM into your C drive root directory by the name of o2orig.nb1. Make sure you keep o2orig.nb1 in a safe place and use a copy of that file for the rest of the procedure. Note that after finishing the copy from your SD card to o2orig.nb1 file ntrw might give you an error, just don’t pay attention to it.
7. WinRAR the o2orig.nb1 file, then upload it to the XDA Developers FTP .[/i]
No one wants to help?
The question is why havent you got a backup?? You were told to do this in the first instance should anything go wrong!!
somebody apparently has uploaded the O2 mini original rom, check it out!
The answer to this was I was using my digital camera as an SD reader...and the backup didn't work properly for some reason. So now I have nothing.
The backup (I think you're talking about the O2 Original Dump Rom) doesn't work for me. I have a 1.11 version of the O2 Asia ROM, but I'd rather have the original WWE. Oh yes, and I've tried several times with the "Original Dump Rom" using 220, 415 and 416 bytes...nothing works.
This may work for you - use the romupdate software to get the rom image of your device to the sd card. By this stage you have an edited rom image on the pc. Use ntrw to write that image over the top of the sd card that you have just written to with romupdate. Then plug it into the ppc. Do not format the sd card in the immediate procedure at anytime. For whatever reason I think the romupdate software puts a format on the sd card which the ppc recognises. There were a number of errors on the ppc screen just after installation however when you push the reset button hey hey the original splash screen boots up. Prior to this check that the edited rom header is 416, in my efforts it was not 415. The RomMiniOrg.nb1 image was good with the only NON change being the radio which remained at version 1.11 but I downgraded it to 1.05. I don't think the service centre will worry to much about this should you need it. Goodluck with this, it worked for me.
Hi yozhek,
Thanks for the help. I did what you said but it still didn't work. However, I used O2_mini_asia from the FTP to downgrade my extended rom, protocol and rom version...then I found the Radio downgrade on the FTP and downgraded to version 1.01.
now everything is original!
I didn't know that the Nb1 files did not include the radio stack downgrade so I had to downgrade that seperately.
the command in the romupdate program basically determine which image to backup.
d2s for rom, but I am not sure what's the other command for extended rom and radio. Anybody?
Can I use MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to change the ROM on my mini with the o2mini_asia.nb1 ?
miniuser: no
you will have to use the process as described in procedure.doc (available in the FTP under anansky's bigstorage folder)
I did as described in the procedure.doc. I have run this command
ntrw write o2mini_asia.nb1 e: and then inserted the SD card into my mini and pressed the power+camera+soft reset button
but it is not doing anything, it has stopped at "Serial" above and v1.00 below for an hour now. Any suggestions?
cheers
mini_user
I tried it second time, now it says
SD DOWNLOAD
==========
SECTIONS=1
Not Allow Update
Any Suggestions?
Cheers
Sorry for the last post, was trying out something else.
I am using a 256MB SD card and the size of the rom is only 127MB after ntrw, does it make any diff??
you can always ntrw write a 127mb rom image into a 256mb sd card.
the rom flash will not work (and hence the no update allowed message) if your rom image in your sd card is invalid for some reason. I make a bobo previously, trying to copy 416byte of anasky rom into my original rom, instead of the other way round. And it give me that error message. After realising my mistake, and did the right modification, the flash went through successfully. so double check your rom header edit if you are not able to proceed to the flash step.
I have a mini with qteck 1.11.00 WWE
and I have download the o2mini rom from xda ftp and have got a 256 mb card
if I want to flash my mini with the o2mini rom the are these the steps to follow
1. dump qtek rom into card
2. copy it to pc
3. copy 1st 416 bytes of qtck into o2mini rom
4. dump o2mini rom into card
5. put mini into bootloader mode
6 update with mini rom
cheers

[Q] Need help after recent update

I loaded the recent update on 12/24 and have not been able to use my tablet since then.. When turned on, it goes thru the ViewSonic screen and the gtablet screen, then just goes to a blank black screen.. It was stock before I loaded the last update..
I have tried to reboot using the power button and vol+
- if there is no microSD card in I get the following message
E: can't mount dev/block/mmcblk2
(no such file or directory)
E: can't mount SDCard2: recovery/command
Formating MISC:...
Rebooting...
- if there is a microSD card with the new download and recovery/command I get the following message
Formatting MISC:...
Rebooting...
Either way, I get a blank screen and no way to change things or update.
Is there anything I can do to get it working again?
This was all stock? Sounds like the flash update failed badly.
Suggestion -- reflash using one of the stock ROM's we've grabbed. Post info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842000. Quick instructions:
- Have a microSD card ready.
- Download the 3338 ZIP file, save it to the root of your microSD card and then rename it to "update.zip".
- Grab the homebrew 1.00 ZIP and extract just the /recovery/command file to the same folder in your microSD.
So, if your microSD is your F drive, you should have the following:
F:\update.zip
F:\recovery\command
- "command" is a text file. Open it in notepad and edit "SDCARD" to "SDCARD2". Make sure notepad doesn't add a .TXT extension when you save it.
Insert the microSD back into your device and reboot into recovery. If you're lucky your device will reflash and reboot.
If this all runs and you still get the same black screen on reboot, my next suggestion is to try one of the older firmware ZIPs and flash as I mentioned above.
edit due to Roebeet answering while I was
It was all stock, with a few added apps...
I tried to reflash the file as noted, with no success... same with the 12/19 -3316 update... it goes thru the recovery reboot, and then to the black screen...
A question on the recovery file.. my computer will not allow a "\" as part of a name... I have been trying this was a recovery file, with just the command file in it... if I need to do something different, let me know..

The instructions posted by roebeet should work. Make sure your microsd card is formatted as FAT32.
1. The file update.zip should be in the microsd card's root directory.
2. The folder recovery should be in the microsd card's root directory.
3. Inside the recovery folder there should be a file named command.
4. And inside the command file you should have the following line:
--update_package=SDCARD2:/update.zip
Still don't have it working.. I have tried all of the updates, and still have a black/blank screen once it goes thru the ViewSonic and gtablet screens..
I have noticed that when I take the sd card out, and check on my computer, that the recovery folder is empty, but I know it had the command file in it before..
any other suggestions??
I believe it's fixable but at this point you may be happier returning it for a new one. It sounds like your update download was corrupted and borked your install.
Not exactly what I wanted to hear.. but..
I called customer support, and got thru today (tried last night and was put on hold then the call dropped)... I was told I wasn't the only person who had this problem with the last update... they are going to send me instructions on how to send it in for repair...
The only I can tell you to try is the same thing Roebeet said earlier. If you have never installed clockworkmod recovery then go here and download the 3389 update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879534
Rename the file to "update.zip" ....make sure it doesn't get named update.zip.zip
Then go here and download cwm 0.8.zip
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865017
Unzip the cwm0.8.zip and you should have this
update.zip
a folder named "recovery" with a file named "command"
update.zip.......DELETE THIS FILE
recovery/command
the command file should have this line in it
--update_package=SDCARD2:/update.zip
If you have a micro sd card then place the 3389 update file that you renamed to "update.zip" on the root of the micro sd card. Not in an folders
Now place the recovery folder on the root of the micro sd card. Make sure the "command" file is in the recovery folder.
When you open your micro sd card you should see this
recovery (folder)...."command" file in this folder
update.zip
Insert the microsd card into the GTab. Make sure tablet is off and then Press power and vol+. hold Vol+ until you see "recovery key pressed". It should install the 3389 firmware and reboot.
If something happens during the install or if your download is corrupted again always check the recovery folder for the command file because it will be deleted on install.
Just a thought, are you sure it has a good charge on the battery? When I first got my gtab I had a similar issue getting it to boot, until I realized the battery was drained

How do you install to NAND via USB and not SDCARD?

Guys im tired of using the sdcard to install android to my polaris as i always erase the andboot folder after everything so as to save space. I know you'd say "what space its a small file" yes but i just wanna know how to flash it comfortably to my NAND thru my PC USB connection like flashing roms with the upgrade utility. Thanks!!!
you are ridiculs but:
download customRUU.exe
copy the nbh file in the customRUU.exe dir
all the other files can't be flashed directly (the androidinstall.tgz must be in andboot folder)
lol thanks master l1q1d for the super response. actually i was dying to flash the android on my polaris immediately after my SD card broke. I had to install it thru usb since i have no sdcard. lll try that now.
i was actually looking for a way to copy the andboot folder to the phone memory after NBH flash, but im not sure that the phone memory has less memory to contain the boot files and the installation thereafter. I lost my sdcard and would wanna make the automation work without it. could this be possible? Thanks again.
No, you can't do it.
That does it. IT wont be. thanks

[Tutorial]Goldcard/Downgrade/Root and S-Off

First of all the S-Off and Root might not work.
Temproot will always work even is S-On.
This will lead to the whole process of making the ChaCha brute force unlocked.
So im not responsabele for bricking you're device or anything else.
Chapter 1 - Creating a goldcard
What do you need:
MicroSD card 2gb or higher
Goldcard Helper (from android market)(market link)
HxD hex editor (download it here)
This is very easy to-do even a six year old child could do this if you can't ask it you're lil bro he will solve this lol.
First of all format your microSD card to FAT32 it need to be blank.
Mean while your pc is formatting the SD card download goldcar helper from the market and install it
Put back the microSD in the phone and boot the phone up again let it fully boot.
When that is done start goldcard maker you will see a reverse CID.
You could write it down in notepad but if you tick the settings button and do "copy to clipboard"
Then you can send it to your mail it make it so much easyer.
When that is done turn of the phone and remove the SDcard for the phone and put it in a SD reader of your pc again
Now go to http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard to create your goldcard and put the code that you write down or send to your mail in ''SD Card Serial (CID): *''
and follow the site instructions.
After a few second you get a download named ''goldcard.img'' save it somewhere where you can find it easy.
I assume you downloaded HxD hex editor so start that up now.
Go to "extras > Open disk" and select your disk where the micro SD card is most likely removeable disk1 !!!!!UNTICK OPEN AS READ ONLY!!!!!.
Now go to "Extras > open disk image and open the "goldcard.img as 512 (Hard disks/Floppy disks) and click ok.
select all the lines of the goldcard and copy it and replace it with the first lines of your sd card so till 00000170 don't change anything else or you can say goodbye to ya SDcard.
save it and you are done!
for later post
for later post part 2
for later post part 3
to create gold card, the other easy way is to use the PC gold card tool http://android.modaco.com/topic/308798-pc-application-goldcardtool/
By downgrading, if you mean downgrade of hboot, please follow the link on my signature....
and rooting is also discussed here.... you can refer thread 'everything for chacha' under chacha general forum.
and for S-off, do you have any other method other than XTC clip?
Yes and no first of all i need a key from htcdev from this device then i could work sonething out so basicly im busy with it s-off is on his way!

UNroot and back to GB stock on Huawei u8510-1 Blaze aka Ideos X3

To root plz follow guide: http://theunlockr.com/2012/05/22/root-huawei-ideos-x3-blaze-u8510-install-clockworkmod-recovery/
but the unroot guide did not work possibly coz of GB(GingerBread) stock but after a few min i accentally when to storeage in settings and was able to recover back to GB stock.
the UNroot method is the same up to step 7 of the unroot guide(http://theunlockr.com/2012/10/24/how-to-unroot-the-huawei-ideos-x3-blaze-u8510/) ie:
Stock download source (http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...&directoryId=3372&treeId=0&tb=1&type=software) -get correct model number from behind the battery.
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have a SD card formatted in FAT32 file system.(optional but not required, if already in use)
II. Downloading Required Files:
2. Download stock from manufactures source stated above (ie GB stcok for u8510-1 i believe there are only 2 one for tesc0 andPhones4U)
III. Unrooting the Huawei Ideos X3 Blaze (U8510):
1. Download and place the Stock ROM (zip file) on your Desktop.
2. Extract files from the Stock ROM archive to your Desktop. A dload folder should appear in the extract folder called dload and should contain UPDATE.app file.
3. With SD card inserted in your device, connect the device to your PC using the USB cable.( A message should appear click "turn on USB Storage" button)
Note: one can identify the sd card drive letter by the storage size, will not be exact size but approximation of size.
4. Copy dload folder and content to root of SD card (that is should be visible when sd card is opened possibly along with other folders)
5. Disconnect the device after the file has been copied.
Note:a) when the device is connected to PC it will be able to communicate with device, so may appear as its not there(connected to device)
b) plz backup all, as this process WILL DISTROY ALL DATA ON HANDSET!!
c) Check the folder and file is present in SD card by file manager-->sd Card
d) Lastly check batery level is full as a CRASH MAY BRICK THE HANDSET, So if not charge to full before going any further.!!!
Now Simply go to settings-->Storage-->Software Upgrade(scroll to bottom)-->SD Card Upgrade--> "confirm" --> "upgrade"
WILL TAKE "2 MINS"
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THIS PROCESS (OF 2 MINS)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP1/2 UNPACKING
and by 33% or progress bar reaching one third way, sign should change to read
STEP 2/2 INSTALLING
when completed the phone will boot 3 times with a few mins pause(each boot indicated with a virbration)
a WELCOME SCREEN should appear
"TAP GREEN ANDROID"
a sreen headed SETUP UP YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT
CLICK "SKIP"
a sreen headed USE GOOGLE LOCATION
CLICK "NEXT"
COMPLETED .....ENJOY
