I've got a problem with Messaging. I can receive text messages (SMS), but when I click on NEW or REPLY buttons in Messaging, nothing happens. No error messages, no crashes, no windows appearing and disappearing, nothing!
It used to work perfectly, so I seem to have done something wrong, but I don't know what.
I have a Himalaya with WM5. It happened to one of my friends with a Magician with WM2003 so it's not machine or ROM dependent. Hard reset works but I want to solve it without having to resort to that. Any ideas please?

When i recieve a sms and short after that i soft-reset my wizard the sms is not in my inbox anymore.
It happend before and sometimes its enoying that a sms has been deleted.
Does someone know why this happens??
Is there a fix for it?
I use WM6 TNT5.0 Rom on a Mda Vario(HTC Wizard).
the only time i have found that to happen when using the tnt roms was if i have not opened the sms , if i have opend the received sms it is still there after soft reset , if i havent it was deleted ,cant remember which build of rom it was that did but since i have upgraded to the black diamond rom it never happens
I have noticed this on my Herald (T-mobile Wing) as well.
Has happened on both my old SPV C500 and my new LG KS20. If I have pulled out the battery with an unread text in the inbox then it's sometimes gone afterwards. I think it's some basic bad memory handling on behalf of the OS.
They really should have fixed it by now, because it's quite annoying if you don't know who sent you a text and you for some reason have to pull out the battery (e.g. device locking up). It has happened to me a couple of times.

I have a problem, that from time to time my WM phone (Hermes) freezes and then I have to do a reset with the stylus and all the unread SMS that I´ve received in the meantime are gone..
Is there a way to prevent this, please? (e.g. a program that would automatically mark all incoming SMS as read so that the WindowsMobile system will actually store them even in case of a reset?)

I tried and mine works normally. I sent myself an SMS. I didn't open or read it when it arrived. I just left it unread in the inbox. I performed a soft reset using the stylus. When the device rebooted the SMS was still in the inbox showing as unread.
yeah but when the phone freezes it will delete.
it happens on my wing and on my old excalibur.

so what can be done? i am thinking of a soft that would either keep the unread sms in its own memory on the memory card or a soft that would save it right away as read.. it is such a bummer, it´s a feature of Windows Mobile but I am wondering why this doesn´t bother anyone else...
Yes believe me this is a major pain in the a#@*! Has happened to me quite a few times and even made me miss an important appointment once...
I take it that this is simply a "feature" of the system but it could be down to a rogue program somewhere. Not for me to say anything of course but some of the third party programs available do seem to make my machine freeze more than most. Remove them and it works ok for long periods.

that is the same source of madness for me.. last week I got an SMS from a horny girlfriend but the phone froze, sms is gone and she says that she will not say what was in it, beacuse she is ashamed how open it was and wants to play a dame now.. aaaargh....

I'm quite new to the windows mobile phones, got an LG KS20 some days ago, and I'm liking it a lot. There's just that sms program that I really dislike.. So I googled a bit and found SMS-chat, so I downloaded the trial and installed it coorectly on my device,
Receiving Sms's works perfectly , and it synchronized my old ones immediatly, and I liked it right from the start, but when I tried to send an sms, the message simply stayed in my 'outbox' and it wouldn't send.. Even when I tried to send an sms with the normal sms-app, it didn't work anymore, and when I de-installed the program , it wouldn't even work before I rebooted my phone..
Anyone an idea? Couldn't find anyone with the same problem on google, but maybe those are my poor google-skills.. anyway I hope someone can help..
just throwing it in the air.... try smileysms instead of vitosms... which is ... much better (at least in my eyes)... try uninstalling Vito-SMS and install it again to your storage card. heard it helped someone once.

Hope someone can help me, as this is a troublesome issue:
First of all, I'm on a Touch Pro with a Stock WWE ROM. The one that was provided with the phone.
Since yesterday, and without any apparent cause (haven't installed/changed a thing), the Pocket Outlook refuses to open my email messages.
I get the email in the inbox, but when trying to load a message, it just flashes the taskbar, changing the 'X' closing button to 'ok', marks the message as read, but doesn't load it.
The weird thing is it does open the SMS messages. I'm guessing that works because of the threaded view being enabled, so the viewer program is different.
I've tried to erase the account (GMail) and recreate it, didn't help at all.
Any ideas?
Can I reinstall the Outlook in any way without Hard-resetting the device?

no you cant reinstall outlook, its integrated into the rom so cant be uninstalled.
Never seen that problem with out look before. Do you sync ur phone via active sync by anychance?
Yes, I sync by ActiveSync. Everything was working fine until a few days ago, and it's been about 3-4 months since my last hard reset...
I've ended up hard-resetting again... No choise when it comes to email. I need it working...

I am having the same issue with my touch pro runnnig mighty rom 4 with manila 2.1. I am using hotmail (via windows live) for email and nuevasync for calendar sync.

wow sounds pretty similar to my problem (except i couldn't open sms's either).
I found my problem to be my memory card....maybe try removing ur memory card(if you have one installed) and resetting the phone, then try to access your outlook messages.....worked for me anyway....hope it helps
