Help. Music (wma, wav) on an alarm clock and SMS is not established i-mate Pocket PC
bro ... you can add that just go to windows file and add any file wav then go to setting alarm and choos the file wav
b/r
adding a MP3 music file to Pocket PC ring list
in Windows directory there is a directory called RINGS
in that directory add the MP3 files and you can then select them from the phone ring list.
As far as the wave files, you can simply add them to the Windows directory
all the best.

is there a way to;
A) change the actual volume of the alert (I know about turning vol up/down) but what I want here is a louder alert when I recieve a message.
B) can I download new wav files to add to the default ones with myxda2i?
B1) if the above is answered yes, can you advise how I install them please?
Thanks
Pete
I would like to add to this.
I have downloaded .wav files and copied them into the windows directory, but when I go to listen to them in the sounds and notifications section they don't play, this has happened to all .wav files apart from one so far.
Look for the Nokia sms sound file uploaded somewhere in this forum. it works on my imate pocket pc and is loud.

I've also noticed that many wav files are some how encoded in mp3. So they have a file ext of .wav but ppc will only play pure wav files. If you switch the file ext on the wav's that do not play to .mp3 they will sudenly play in windows media player. this will tel you that it is not pure wav encoding.
if you choose properies of the wav file on the pc
it should ms ad pcm as format then it's a pure bred
puls modulated media
I have some mp3s songs that I want to use as my alarm tone? How can I go about accomplishing this? Thanks!
i've got an htc touch diamond and the only way that i got it right was to copy tones to the device windows root folder in a .wav format.alarm tones won't work with mp3 unless you use klaxon
I use the alarm from SPB Time - you can choose mp3 as your alarm tone and it can be located anywhere in the device (main memory, storage card...)
Just love SPB time. all the timers and alarms get me hot!
I was dumping them in the /windows directory then I realized that the phone was finding them in the main memory card directory too.
Hey,
I just can't manage custom alarm tones to work. No matter where I put them (Windows dir, Windows/Rings, My docs./My Rings) and no matter what format I use (mp3, midi, wav, wma) they just won't work. When I click the clock (M2D) -> Alarms -> and then click that small belt my sounds cannot be found in that dropdown menu.
Any ideas are highly appreciated!
Cheers
alarms are put in the /windows folder.
you can also use this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370481
and try this app..
I already tried putting them into Windows directory. I tried mp3, midi, wav and wma.. None of these worked actually. It's just not listed in that dropdown menu. Pretty annoying.
Cheers
i suggest you try what i offered..
the file i posted works perfectly on my Wizard...
I don't like to use 3rd party app for a thing that should work normally.
Cheers
first of all, the only alarms (wake up alarm, that is..) WM reads is wav.. by default
if you open clock.exe and check alarm sounds you will only see wav formats.
and they are found in the windows dir.
i'm not sure about M2D but i suggest you add a wave file called test.wav to your windows dir and check if it appears in the default alarm app of windows.
if it doesn't... I'd suggest either using 3rd party/a hardreset, or if the rom is problematic.. switch for one that doesn't have that problem.
i just tried putting a wav in my windows folder and it appears in the list.
I put a wav file in the windows folder, it showed up in the list, but windows wouldn't let me select it, when I select it, it will automatically just to Default Alarm Tone ! I have cool edit in my PC, I was wondering, if the file needs to be in a specific format (i.e. bit rate)? Any ideas? And there are a whole lot of types of wavs, adpcm, pcm, raw ...
EDIT:
Found it, here :
http://vanbeekbr.blogspot.com/2008/07/adding-custom-alarm-tones-to-windows.html
btw, I suggest using G-alarm.. besides the fact that it's very useful you can also use mp3s and waves.. create playlists for alarms...
i downloaded the vito ringtone editor for my htc hd2 and was able to make one ringtone but when i try to make more none of my music shows up, can anyone help??? thank you
MP3 Trimmer
Use the pre-installed MP3 trimmer. It will save the file to your
/my documents/my ringtones folder and away you go.
For sms sounds simply place the MP3 file in the root directory of your device.
Good luck

There is a default setting ringtone in my LGO3D. How to change customize that to use my own mp3 as a ringtone? Is it possible to set individual ringtone for each contact?
Thanks.
custom ringtones
I created a directory in mnt / sdcard that I named it audio, then I created ringtones directory in it, I put mp3 files there and then reset the phone, mp3 files appeared in a selection of tones
I manage to make it appear in my ringtone selection by placing the audio files in sdcard/media/ringtones. But now it make the audio not appear in music player. Default music player require it to be placed in sdcard/media/music folder.
Is there a way to make the ringtone files able to be browse and select? Any app recomendation? I tried ringo. But the audio files need to be places specific in the sdcard/media/ringtones.
I go into my music press and hold an mp3 song you want at it says use as ringtone
dno if that helps
this works
look on the market for "ringtone maker" it is free and you browse for a song on your library and then crop it and you can either set it is notification ringtone or default call tone
As for the contact assignment i have not tried this but just had a quick look in my contacts and i cant see an option for it.
Ringdroid
I use and enjoy Ringdroid.
Ok, found that ringo pro can do the trick. I hope there is a free way.
