howto change operator name - General Topics

Recently my mobile operater (YU Mobtel) is been sold to Norway's Telenor, and the operator name is changed too, but not on my Qtec 9100, where still displays "MOBTEL". Why's so, and is there any way to change it?

There is this new hacks... PPC6800Hacks... it has the options to edit and change the operator's name. Works on my DOPOD838Pro. Hope it works for you.

You can try the trial version of Tweaks2k2, only change the operator name, dont try to tweak other settings, might not work on WM6

When I google that, all it returns is this thread. Do you have the name of the app wrong?

Use PHM Registry editor
Browse to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames
Create an new String key with your operator # and set the name you want

Add VOIP to Comm Manager (WM6)

Just for reference I am using the Most Beautiful edition rom.
Navigate to HKLM/Software/HTC/CommManager
Do these following steps... (without the quotes)
Change "SuppordedFunctions" to 9 (if only at 7, I will show how to add IR as well)
If you DO NOT have IR in your Comm Manager:
Add a new key and name it "7"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "IR"
If you already have IR, then add this to get VOIP:
Add a new key and name it "8"
In that key, create a new string value and name it "Default" with the data being "VOIP"
There you have it. Now you have 9 settings in the Comm Manager. I do not know exactly what it does yet, just wanted to post my findings. Someone can maybe clean this up a little and add it to the Wiki if they find it helpful.
I just enabled this and it does indeed give you an 'IP Phone' icon, plus if you click the settings there is an IP Phone option. Neither actually do anything except make it beep....
I just put a sniffer on to see if there was a DNS lookup for a SIP server or anything when you click the Icon, there isn't I assume this will be something that is provided with your GSM contract and will be pushed down to the phone via OTA. If you click Phone Options, then services and get the settings for Voice Mail & Test Messages there is an option now for 'Internet Voice Mail', this is greyed out though.
Andy
at least it's possibly one step closer to figuring out how to get it to work... or at least how to turn it on and off when it is working.
I just tested this on the PDAVIET3 WM6 ROM. This brings up the Error message:
Comm Manager only supports 7 Entries. -> does NOT work.
In order to find out what is causing this please let me know where to check the Version of the Comm Manager(already have a dumped pdaviet3 rom on my pc at home.) so I can compare it to the Version you have.
I hope we can get this VOIP Service figured out soon

Look here
On the other thread about the Internet Calling in WM6 thers is a link to the MSDN site. If you dig about on here you can find lots of information regarding this; I thought this was interersting:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb330889.aspx
Unfortunately I don't have a SIP server so all I can do is sniff the network and watch the phone attempt to connect to the SIP server....
Andy
My Comm Manager version is 1.3.2.0
I also have a copy of 1.0.3.0 which I believe is from the 2.25.11 cingular shipped rom.
someone post a screen shot of the voip button please
The one in the linked thread now comes up with 8 functions at most. Has anyone got a rip of the Most Beautiful one?
I do.. here you go
Also working on getting a screen cap of the button.
Hmm that file isn't working for me, the 7 button that was integrated into Orwells worked with 7 max, the 8 button from the linked thread worked with 8 but that one just refuses to run, I'm on the clean WM6 ROM.
I made this cab with trojan9x's attachment and it worked for me
Here is the screenshot
Still no dice, I think a dll or something is needed for the Orwell ROM. Thanks anyway guys.
Here's how mine looks.

im superficial just like everyone else. even if it does nothing... I WANT IT!!
Cab-file works for me @ WM6 MB-edition (thnx guys). But unfortunately when I click on settings>ip phone, nothing happens..
good one..
maybe someday we'll have x10 or more buttons to come..
hehe..
Great Find Trojan9x. It pushes us one more step closer to understanding the "Internet Calling" Feature.
@ TROJAN9x:
I tried adding these Registry settings on my HERMES with WM6 and it says that only 7 is supported. Do you have ny clue about HERMES and it's limitations or do you think there might be another setting for this?
But it works fine on my Wzards.

HTC Home Weather - Modify Cities List?

I have a Kaiser with preinstalled HTC Home Weather. I cannot modify the ciies list because the file HH_0410_Weather Cities.xml is in ROM. I modify the register key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE - HTC - HTCHome - Weather - Settings> weatherDB writing a different location in the string value instead of "default". Naturally I wrote in the new location a modified copy of the file .xml. Unfortunatly the program continue to "see" the old list. I tried also to change manually in the reg file the value of the location, but also in this case the visualized list is the old. Can someone help me?
hanks in advance and regards.

Go here and read the Post, download whatever you need and rewrite the XML. It sounds a little much but it works and it's not hard at all. Hope that helps you, Kevin

Owner Information Missing wm6.5

First let me say I have tried the registry edit fix and it did not work. I simply do not have have nor does it show owner information in the today, items tab. I have soft reset after each change and no icon nor any entry. I also dont have a "me" entry in my contacts. I have some third party software I have purchased and now they have defaulted to trial versions because I can't input any owner information. This is a real problem for me and I would greatly appreciate any and all knowledge in this problem. I have a sprint HTC touch pro 2 that was upraded from 6.1 to 6.5.
Owner information..
Took me a little time to find it.......Programs/Settings/Menu/All Settings/Personal/Owner Information .....
Use the one from Sense...under sense settings tab. If you insist!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4268138&postcount=3
Read the above post, and it has owner info. You need to remove the redirect key using one of the registry editors, and soft reset.

I have G-alarm, the best and highly customizable alarm program for wm6.x devices, and it requires owners info for activation after the trial period. Because I have a Sprint Touch Pro2 that I upgraded to wm6.5, the owner's info was missing in my phone too. So I contacted Ageye, the developer of G-alarm, and he gave me a website that he made to correct this problem in different ways. My favorite way is to do the following:
Use a registry editor (e.g. the free "PHM Registry Editor") and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Owner. You should find a key called "Hide". Please change its value from "1" to "0" and restart your device. Now you should be able to find the owner settings.
Ageye has other simple alternatives that you can read about by going to his link. Good luck with yours.

[Q] Save contacts with or without Country Code?

I have just received my HD7, but I'm confused by a little thing with the phone numbers. When a person calls me, the number is shown as normal, but when they text me the country code is added (+47).
I't seems that if I store the number without the country code the contact is shown correctly when they call, but not when they text. And vice versa.
Anyone else had this problem? or is it "a Norwegian thing" ?
exactly the same problem here with Touch Pro 2 and wm6.1
Yup, same problem here.. I really hope they'll fix this, since I have to add two numbers to each contact (the same number with and without the country code). And yes, I'm also from Norway. Weird...
Works fine in Sweden no matter what the number is stored as (ie +46xxx, 0046xxx or just plain xxx).
By dieb2810:
Install .Net 3.5, Install Advance config, under Phone Settings set the number recognition to 8 instead of 11. That fixes it.
By InF3Rn0:
Install an Registry Editor
Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>ControlPanel>Phone
Here is an D-Word registry called: CallIDMatch, the value on my phone was standing on "12". When you edit the value and set it to 8. All of the problems dissappear.
Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420076&page=2
Note: I think 8 should be the lenght of the phone numbers without country code. contact should be saved without country code.
This worked with me

is that a computer program or phone? Since we don't have Marketplace in Norway yet
Got a mail from HTC.
Ruffly translated:
We are aware of the problem, and we are in dialog with Microsoft to find a solution to the problem.
Hopefully there will be released an update to solve this problem asap.
Yay, thanks for asking HTC, thomassan. Looking forward to their update. ^^

[Q] can't search on the map?

Hi dear,
I'm using Samsung Omnia 7 and I've successfully updated my phone to 7.0.7392.0.
But when I tried to search some place in bing "MAP" application, it just goes the bing search screen. I don't when it's been launched like this.
Anybody can help me?
My phone use I8700XENJK1 CSC.
There is a search button in the app. Just tap it.
Yeah, I did. But it goes to Bing Search.
it's within in the app, not the search button on the phone itself...
cheers,
simon

have a look at the following registry key on your wp7-device:
[HKLM\System\Search\LanguageSupport\xx-XX] (where xx-XX is your locale)
insert or set
RoutingSupported=dword:1
SearchSupport=dword:1
then it should be fixed!
confirmed the bing-search thing (within the maps application) by setting the value for RoutingSupported to 0 on my device --> hitting the search button opens bing search
changing it back to 1 gives me the ability to serch for destinations in the maps application...
cheers,
simon
p.s. your device has to be unlocked to use any registry editor - I used WP7 root tools by Heathcliff74 for changing the registry values...
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021135
does it work with the changed registry key?
cheers,
simon
I'm trying now Thank you so much mate!
But it still doesnt work....
in which area do you live and what input locales did you set?
the first time I had to change my phone to german (germany) instead of german (austria) to able to search within the maps...
with german (austria) I had the same issues as you have - but with the two registry keys set I'm able to search within bing maps...
Damm, I have asked about this 2 weeks ago
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060443
It worked with polish local settings. Tested on LG E900, used build in registry editor.
PS code for Polish is pl-pl.

SearchSupport=dword:1
or did you add GeocodeSupported=dword:1 as well?

I live in New Zealand and I set en-NZ input locales.
Still I can't search in bing map
Finally it works now on both devices, Samsung Omnia 7 and LG quantum
Thank you guys! It's so useful and easy!
what I have on my device:
regional settings are all to German (Austria)
HKLM\System\Search\LanguageSupport\de-AT
GeocodeSupported : DWord=1
RoutingSupported : DWord=1
SearchSupported : DWord=1
HKLM\System\SearchMaps\Configuration
AutoSuggestTimeoutMS : DWord=600
AutoSuggestUnsupportedLocale : DWord=0
MapsHistoryDeleted : DWord=0
MapsLocationAccess : DWord=1
OnlineAutoSuggest : DWord=1
SearchLocationAccess : DWord=0
SearchLocationConsentPrompted : DWord=1
I had a look at HKLM\System\Search\LanguageSupport\en-NZ as well:
without any changes there are
OnlineAutoSuggestions : DWord=1
SearchSupport : DWord=1
I just changed my regional settings to en-NZ on my device (with en-US as display language), opened bing maps and was able to search within the app (no fallback to bing search)... I was even able to navigate to a destination
What happens if you set your regional settings to en-AU?
Does it work then?
I hope you get your problem fixed...
cheers,
simon

I had the same problem after setting
HKLM\System\Search\LanguageSupport\de-AT
GeocodeSupported : DWord=1
When I delete this entry, search is fine again
I can reproduce this error, when setting the registry key GeocodeSupported : DWord=1 again
seems like some regions (like de-AT or en-NZ) do not support all features of bing maps (en-US has some more features)...
Try to delete the GeocodeSupported key and search should be ok again...
cheers,
simon
Yeah I deleted that key and it works so fine
