Network LED disabled? - Palm Treo 750

Hi there
I saw somewhere else, that the Treo 750v has a green blinking LED as network indicator when used with a Vodafone SIM (orange blinking on low network). Since I use it with a T-Mobile SIM the LED is not blinking - is there anyone who has an idea how I can enable it to blink green on good coverage and orange on bad network status? Must be something in the registry, I am sure. Your feedback is wanted!
Oh, and yes, I know most users want to disable blinking network/bluetooth/... LED's - sorry, but I am different in this case...
Thanks, Lutz

I use Treo 750v with a Vodafone SIM and led does NOT blink green under network coverage.
Instead it blinks orange either with no network or low battery.
Bye,
Leo

So do I. Changing back and forth between my Vodafone NL and my T-Mobile NL sim does not make any difference. No green blinking led here.
(and frankly, thank God for that! Now I can take my PDA into the bedroom and leave it on the nightstand without waking my very-lightly-sleeping girlfriend )

Questions about 3G/umts connection

A work colleague is using a sim free touch cruise on the vodafone network but vodafone don't have any support for this device (mind you neither does HTC ). We got the vodafone settings for billpay vodafone off the internet and input them and can now surf, download gmail etc over HSDPA (H icon shows) and then it automatically reverts to 3G when not in use.
The problem is that the icon for 3G/umts in use is always on (ie the small 3G over the signal strength) and when the bigger 3G icon is touched it shows how long connected to 3G and as the device is still connected it keeps counting time even though the application using 3G is shut down.
My questions are as follows:
In this state (big 3G icon showing and small 3G icon above signal strenght) is this costing anything being constantly connected to 3G but not using it?
How can it be set to automatically disconnect?
My own touch cruise is on the 3 network but I don't have this difficulty.
My thinking is that it might have something to do with "vodafone live" but not sure what is happening or possibly have selected the wrong set of settings for vodafone ireland as there is a few different sets.
Sorry this is a bit long winded but any advice much appreciated.
The always ON connection is general behaviour... it doesn't matter which network is the device on.
The big 3G/H icons only represent the available network (G(PRS)/E(DGE)/3G/H(SDPA))
The smaller is the signal strength...
The cost of the always ON connection depends on the dataplan being used... if it's an unlimited or a fairly large one like 5GB, it won't matter... but it realy depends on the data recieved....
In my case the avarage hourly traffic is around 1 MB, but i have a little e-mail traffic going so... whith a few mails and every 30 minute checking the traffic should be around 500 KB or lower...
As for the Auto-Disconnect, please search the forum... there are several threads about this in both subforums.
Thats great gnick666 thanks for your reply.
I know the Advanced Configuration Tool has an auto disconnect feature, but I had some issues with it and never went back to go play around with it.
You can also hold down the End button and a menu pops up and you can end data connection there. Or alternatively you can configure it so that holding down the End button always disconnects your data connection.
I have an unlimited data plan so not worried about data, I'm not sure however what the impact to battery usage is so I disconnect "just in case".
As for the 3G / H icon behaviors. Depending on which part of the country I'm in, I get different icons. Sometimes I get 3G and it switches to H when doing data. Othertimes it's always H whether disconnected or connected. (This is assuming that I'm in a 3G location) and not switching back to Edge.
Mine mostly shows the bigger 3G icon and the signal strenght icon with the little antenna icon (I'm on the 3 network which is 3g) but when I download data the small icon changes to 3G and then both change to H as required. Once finished it disconnects and reverts back to 3G. I have Schapps Advanced config tool installed.

No 3G... Need Help

I've had my tilt for a few weeks now and not yet have I seen the 3G or H icon pop up on my screen. Instead I'm always connected to the Edge network. I've tried installing a different radio to it, but all that did was make my phone load up to the point where its should get to the windows mobile screen then the screen would go black. I've used kaiser tweaks to enable hsdpa but still no luck. The only time i've seen the 3G icon is when i don't have a good signal and it'll show 3G for like to seconds and then it'll show I have no service. Then come back as Edge. Does anybody have a suggestion for me?
You don't mention or list where you live. Are you sure you're in a 3G area?
Look this and send your Kayser to warranty service, your 3g is broken:

good luck.

did you go into the comm manager and make sure that the 3g was turned on?

Unable to make/receive calls with HSDPA

Got my TP 3 weeks ago. I am on Orange. Until this morning, everythig was fine. Very vey happy with my TP. Today, woke up and found "H" on the status bar for the very first time. Befire that it used to be "3G". Though , well getting HSDPA, good. However, with H on, i am unable to make calls or receive any. They go to voicemail. When i call, it just disconnects without dialing tone. Anyone else had similar problems? Any solution? I bought it from expansys, standard UK rom. Is there a way to switch hsdpa off? though it should work even if its on...... is set faulty or radio rom??? worried now. it was excellent uptil now
network's fault. Orange haven't programmed their network to cope with HSDPA properly.
start>settings>connections>advanced network
the settings to turn HSDPA on or off are in there.
Thanks mate. I was really worried that there is something wrong with my phone. But turning off HSDPA resolved the problem. So it was Orange's fault .
I will still be able to connect data session via 3G, isn't it??
Thanks again.
This is not specific to Orange...
I have problems maintaining an internet connection while making a GSM call on the touchpro too...
I used to get this same thing with my Kaiser on a roof in Hackney, if I disconnect the data session, it is OK again.
For some reason it was only there that this problem occurred for me. Other places had 'H' and voice calls working.
Cheers,
Joe
it's a common problem.
I know that Orange and Vodafone at least have this issue.
3 and T-mobile appear to be ok.
Don't know about O2.
Generally, it's the same throughout Europe as the networks tend to use the same hardware and software on all their infrastructure.

GSM / Network Signal bars grey / unavailable

Hey all, thanks in advance for any advice offered.
For some reason my Galaxy S8+ has a greyed out GSM signal bar with an 'x' next to it. As far as I remember the only thing I did was put it to charge overnight. I've tried removing the SIM, still grey, inserting another carrier's SIM (known to be working), still grey, my original SIM also works fine in another phone. Everything else not related to cell service works fine (wifi, bluetooth etc.). I can see the IMEI number in settings as usual.
I've tried resetting the network settings, factory resetting the phone, I've even reloaded the ROM via Odin. No joy.
The phone is pretty much stock, except for the fact that I changed the carrier software from AT&T to Verizon in order to use a particular LTE band. Since I did that, the phone worked fine for several months.
I've only noticed two things odd thus far. After reloading the ROM and downloading a few updates, a game (Empire) appeared from nowhere installed in my app drawer. Also, the Airplane mode icon in the notification shade is light blue, similar to when it's transitioning from off to on. Airplane mode seems to work though, because I can toggle it, and the wifi reacts as such.
I can't search network operators manually (says: Error while searching for networks), changing the network mode does nothing, and none of the secret dialing codes work either. They all say "Mobile network not available". With a SIM inserted, my SIM status menu says, Network: unknown, Signal strength: -113dBm 0 asu, Service state: Radio off.
Sorry if I'm long-winded, but I'd appreciate any assistance at all. Thanks again for taking the time to read.
I had the same issue and I replaced the daughterboard and antennas

How to turn off WiFi calling notification

Does*anyone know how to get rid of the Vodafone WiFi calling notification? It appears at the top of notification bar and also on my lock screen, when I have poor signal and it connects to WiFi calling mode. I can only mute it for 2 hours at a time. In the notification settings it comes under "IMS service" which is a system app that it is*greyed out so can't be switched off. I never had any notifications when WiFi*calling*was connected with O2 but I do since changing to the N20 and my new carrier Vodafone. I find this irritating.
Did you ever find any joy with this problem?
I'm having the same issue on my Z Fold 2, I've just switched provider to Vodafone from Three and the IMS Service/WiFi calling notification is unable to be disabled.
It must be Vodafone related as I used WiFi calling on three and never had this issue!
No it's still there! I've just got used to it now
Hey,
I'm having the same problem too. As far as I can tell this seems to be an issue unique to Vodafone users - indeed in the Vodafone's network options menu, the ability to turn off these notifications is greyed out. Same sim card into a friend's phone = same problem. My friend's O2 sim card or another friend's EE sim in my phone = no problem. I've raised this with Vodafone repeatedly and the consistent response from their technical support team has been that a) this isn't a problem that has been raised before; b) that it's something that needs to be fixed across the whole network's standard SIM functionality and they can only do that for widespread issues. Both of these answers are entirely untrue. I keep raising it and I've now formally complained about it.
In the meantime, I use an app called BuzzKill, which although isn't free and for me isn't always 100% effective at muting the Vodafone WiFi Calling notifications, it certainly catches most of them so the £2ish was well worth it. Easy set up too (and no, I don't work for them ).
I found out by enter info then enable wifi calling then disable it goes away.
