broken xda screen, memory full of baby pics an vids please help - General Topics

hello.. ive been away on holiday with my xda and unfortunatly ive smashed the screen, is there any way of getting it to reset so im able to use activesync to download the info on there, as i cant get passed the "align screen" part .. please help if u can.. there are our first baby pics on there and im gutted to have lost them, i dont mind taking it to bits if i have to thanks dave

If you can't get any activesync access, one of us might have to write you an autorun program that you can stick on a memory card. Insert it, it'll autorun, backup all your memory, and make a ping sound.
You could probably also use it to write align screen data to the registry so it'll skip that screen.
Can you see the screen, or nothing at all?
V

yep
ace m8... sounds like u know what to do... (the wifes chewing my ear off about this) er yeah.. the screen still lights up and displays however the glass front has been smashed so the touch screen wont register anything
i have a 1gb sd card and that sounds like the way to do it if at all possible,
as before, any help will be gratefully recieved
thanks

autorun program?
how would i go about getting an autorun program?
does anyone know who i could approach?

Did this ever get sorted out?
V

It's just me, but if you are on the align screen (without choosing it from settings) doesn't that usually mean that you preformed a hard reset so all those baby pictures are lost anyway?

I think, from the F*cked Hermes threads, that if the screen gets massively disaligned the OS will initiate a screen align itself. I'm not sure, I've never seen it happen.
Screen align can also be kick started with a press of enter + messaging (on some devices).
V

What to do with a blue angel with a broken touch panel?
This doesn't directly relate to the baby pictures issue, but more generally a blue angel / sx66 with a broken touch screen. I found a place online that would fix it for $140 or so, but it's not worth that much according to its condition and recent ebay sales. Anyone know of a cheaper way to get one repaired, more in the $40-75 range using used parts? I know I could sell this one for parts and I may do that, but would rather fix it up and put linux on it.

It is not an easy DIY project to replace the touchscreen on Blueangel:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelLCD
I have tried to separate it from the broken LCD, and broke it after all, too.

cant you just connect as a guest?

Try this free software, lets you control XDa from PC
Hi I have the same problem but used this program to control the xda even though cant see the screen, it recreates the screen on the pc, as long as activesync is connected this will self-install.
Regards
Michael

shouldnt your files be backed upto your computer once you connect to activsync? mine has always done that. also i have a program that you can use that will let you control your phone from your pc. let me know if you need it and i will send it you

No backligth in SPV-M1000 - pls help

Hello,
I just became a owner of a SPV-M1000 - a sad owner :?
This device just dont want to turn on the backligth. I have been thou settings, manual, tried severel profiles ect. Still without resault. I could really use help on this one
I have not yet d/l any updates atall or patches yet and I really doubt that the backligth in this device is defect.
Also - I dont quite know wich model the "Orange SPV-M1000" is, but its is very identically with the third illustration from the rigth on this forum front page.
Best regards & Thank you,
Skipper
you can toggle the backlight by holding down the on off button for awhile
that is unless it's broken
I just learned a new future there - yes, but it did not solve my problem. I have now been in touch with a repairs shop and the technichian had a very hard time to belive that the display backligth was malfunctioning and that it must be a user error. I dont belive that..
A new display is pretty expensive and before I buy this i´d kinda hoped that someone else had a more experience know-how in this area before I purchases this.
Btw - if it comes to buy a new display do anyone know where on the net this can be done. I was thinking change it myselves.
have you tried hardreseting it just to in case ?
if the backlight dont come on when it gets to the calibrate screen and such i would say it's defect
and if it's under warrenty first ½ year the orange guy have to prove that you broke it or give you a new one
I just bougt a used display from a companig that had the same model that had a damaged chassic - pretty cheap .. And it works, perfect.
Now I have to install all the latest software and drivers for both the device and computer. I will try look around the net for this but if you maby would be kind and guide me, would be great.
Thanks

Sick of it, returning it, sooo disappointing

Okay, I'm going to (try and) return my device (through devicewire, anyone know how good their returns policy is?). Here, in order of importance, is why:
1- Bluetooth doesn't work any more (it comes up saying "Error: bluetooth hardware problem"
2- Phone needs a hard restart (battery out) ONCE A DAY. This is despite resetting it and keeping it clean as received. Something will freeze
3- It's slow. REALLY slow. OMG how boringly slow.
4- Most screen taps require one, two or three attempts to get it to recognise - whether I do the registry hack or not
5- It ain't that pretty, it ain't that small, it ain't that light
Shame, because it does have a fair bit going for it. But I'm finding that they've just tried to push the envelope too far, especially on a system that is such a HUGE MESS already (Windows Mobile).
Gawd I HATE it when a gadget doesn't work out. And I hate it more when it cost me near enough £400 ($800) to get it
It really sounds like you have defective unit. Maybe you should try to exchange it for another one.

Yep. Not one issue with mine. As for speed, I guess that's all relative. However, I have had enough WM devices in the past to base my comparisons to and I don't find the TC to be any worse than my past devices. In some respects, it is faster at some operations (ie. opening applications, browsing directories, etc) than my past device. I have no issue with touching the screen and the amount of pressure needed.
As for the size and weight of the TC, you'll be hard pressed to find anything that's leaps and bounds smaller and lighter on the market right now with the exception of the original Touch series.

Taking the battery out does not hard reset the device, it just reboots it. If you check the wiki, you sill see how to really perform the hard reset. This may be all your device needs. Sounds like some corrupt files in the active OS. Doing a true Hard Reset will restore all files from ROM and correct any corrupt ones. You will lose all settings and contact information so have them backed up or accessible. Also, you may want to remove your microSD before you hard reset.
Good Luck and report back

Sorry, I should have said i DID do a proper hard reset (hold buttons down, restart, software reinstalls on a bare phone), and still problems with bluetooth. AND, incidentially, WIFI! This evening I'm going to try throwing it against a wall (joking). Thanks for helping though

You got a bad device. It happens. If you are satisfied with what the device offers, exchange it for another.
it's true that it's too slow to search a name in all database !
I had a QTek 9090 also cadenced to 400Mhz during nearly 2 years, and I used to search a name not only in contacts but using the "search" tool in all the datas and with the same database of almost 3000 contacts + calender over 1000 entries, with the QTek it took only a few seconds, here on the TC (and I used also before a TYTN it was the same problem : very slow),it takes more than 1 minute ! It is so slow that the screenlight turns off before it has found !! It is really boring and not easy to use: I have to go in contacts and type the name or surname, then it is much faster....BUT if I want to find a keyword I put in the notes of my contacts, the only way is to use the search tool and it is REAL too slow !
What do you guys, testers, think about this ? The QTek had the same processor speed, half less RAM and ROM but maybe it consumed more energy, more power, maybe the battery lasted less time, but ok, I prefer to charge my battery more often and to have a fast PDA . I cannot wait so long to search an item !!!
try to exchange you device for a new one and you will be a happy chap
Cedel: The 9090 (Qtek = HTC) has an Intel CPU I owned a Qtek S110 (also Intel) and it was in fact very fast. But comparing raw CPU speed in this case is not correct. I'm pretty sure Intel uses a completely different architecture. There are IMO several reasons for HTC dropping Intel from their phones:
1. Cost - Intel have never been a cost effective solution and I strongly suspect that they are at least 30% more expensive.
2. Battery - A 9090 or S110 would not live though the day with GPS, 128 MB DDR RAM and all the other features you now have I can confirm this from an iPAQ 316 I tested recently. 2 hours @battery power was it's maximum!

that's every touch cruise made by HTC...yours, mine, everyone who owns one in this forum
HTC consideres these two things "features" because this is a "business device"
i thought you knew that! (lol)
just for kicks though, what registry hack are you referring to?

Good point!
The registry hack is the one to increase screen sensitivity posted elsewhere - screen still needed a couple of prods to work.
Any case, I've sent it off to HTC with my list of complaints - let's see what they send back...
yeah i've tried that...didn't do much difference
i hope u get ur probs fixed, good luck dealing with HTC :-\

I have recently sent me touch dual back to HTC twice- the first time they said they replaced the mainboard but when I got it back it still had problems, the second time they said they couldnt find any issues with it and reflashed the rom and sent it back- they were unhelpful and unapologetic. Was thinking of sending in a written complaint as I never had any problems with my wizard or TYTN but I honestly dont think it will achieve anything.
I was thinking of getting rid of it and getting a touch cruise but it seems to have just as many problems. I think its windows mobile that is the weak link here.

What problems are those? Aside from lack of graphics drivers, the device performs as I expect.
Well, I got my device back from HTC. Appart from the fact the screen glows in the bottom left corner (though not really visible once the screen is bright), they seem to have improved it. In the sense that it's not totally broken. So bluetooth and WIFI work again, which, frankly, they should for this much money.
The TC is still a slow phone with pretty terrible usability. But even with a faster processor, the usability would be terrible. So, I dunno, I'm stuck with it for the moment.
madinga, i really understand you. It's a ****ed up device! I bought it for $1000 and for such money it freezes, doesn't wakeup on power push, and got a very bad performance. I wanna throw it to the wall!! ****
Well I like mine...
But it's not a massive improvement over the original Orbit. The Touch interface is loads better though, I'd miss that if I went back to the Orbit.
A proper VGA screen in it would be great though, since it would make it a lot more possible/easier to use to read PDF novels etc. Currently you can't have the entire page of a book full screen and the text still be readable. A higher DPI would sort that out.

Send it back again and demand a new device tell them this is a clearly DOE/RMA Case
they have to give you a new Device.

10 Min For Cube To Load
It took 10 mins for the cube to open. During that time, it locked my PDA. I've been disappointed in this and all the bugs with the Word Completion and returned it as a manufacturer defect.
In all the years prior to now, I cannot believe the processors currently out there have not advanced in speed.

Screen damaged...Need to flash ATT SPL!!

I flashed the HTC factory rom a few weeks back, and now (not because of the flashing) my screen is broken. I think I sweat on it and it has caused the connectors to be intermitent. The water damage sticker is luckily still white I have alreay flashed the ATT stock back onto the unit, but without screen viewability, I can't run KAIS-SPL. You can here the ATT swoosh sounds on startup. The screen works about 5% of the time, so do I chance sending it back with HardSPL still on it as they might not be able to verify. The 5% chance scares me. Is it possible to put ATT SPL without having the screen work? Lastly, is there a command line interface to remotely activate KAIS-SPL?
Thanks,
brux2dc
FYI. This unit is still within the 30 days, but i am sure they will check it before issuing a credit.
get it replaced. try in store first since you're within ur 30 days.
if you need to go through warr exchange, have no fear. ive sent back 6 kaisers lol
one had a chunk missing outta the corner. another, the pixels went green and wack. another had a replaced screen and that screen had an "oil" spot and the hinge was all loose. no fees.
the only thing i would worry about is them replacing the screen and seeing salt from your sweat. even water leaves a green residue at times on electronics.
oh, and if you dont wanna do that, you can grab a refurb from ATT or another seller for cheap. all my refurbs were lnib
Yeah, I bought mine over the internet through the FAN site. Unfortunately It would be easy to show the clerk in a store how messed up this phone is. I"ll just send it without worrying about the SPL. I haven't seen the screen all day, so I guess it is FUBAR!
6 phones? Is this phone really that crappy quality wise? Should I get a different phone. Although this phone has everything I could want in a phone (for the time being )
Thanks

This phone is NOT CRAPPY (except the video DRIVERS).
It actually depends on people's use. I personally keep my phones away from all the hazards and on cases (leather, silicone...) If anything happens to it its just BADLUCK.
My opinion is If you are happy with your phone then do not get a different one.
This would work, if you could install it...
There is a program that might help you, SOTI pocket controller pro. It will let you control your phone from the computer... the only problem is installing it. You would need to be able to hit the check box. It might be possible to have it installed automatically with UC, but another, more knowledgeable member would need to give advice for this one.
If you do get the program on your phone, you should be able to revert it to factory. As another post already said, you may be fine anyway as I doubt a new phone under warranty will be heavily scrutinized by ATT.

this is false, when i freshly flash a new device and it dont have soti installed then i just open soti on the computer and hit connect. It then installs the cab with no prompts. SOTI would work very well in this instance!
wow 6 phones, and here i'm getting mad about 4, i'm still waiting for att to send me one that works, i guess my 4 isn't that bad at all.
and at op sogun is correct, SOTI works great used it to take the contacts off my hermes when the screen broke. but i took that phone apart to the mother board and did it that way cause i couldn't remember how to put it back together
thanks for the help.
I'll look into SOTI.

[Q] ZTE X500 motherboad data transfer

I dont think anything will help, but it never hurts to ask. i just started tinkering with cell phone repairs. i have done a few digitizer replacements. i currently have a friends zte x500 cricket phone that i need to fix. here is the skinny.
her screen went real bright and then died. its been dropped and got wet on one end. it still starts, and on rare occasion the screen will work for a few seconds. seems to be functional if you could see it. i could feel it vibrate by touching the screen, so i know the digitizer is good. i told her to let me find a working phone on ebay with a cracked glass, and i would gut it and replace her lcd. and so i did. it did work for a little while then the screen went blank again.
so here is where i am at now. she just really wants her contact numbers retrieved. she tried cricket, they were no help. i know it has a good amount of storage 32 gb. i inspected the motherboard for any removable memory and anything that might hold dat that i could swap. everything is soldered down beyond my ability. i have enough parts to make one good phone, but i cant get her contacts saved.
if this were a desktop computer, i would tell you everything is fine but the built in graphics. i have swapped all the parts back and forth. she definitely has video output issues from the motherboard.
anyone know of anyway i can transfer her data from one motherboard to the other? im self taught on all this stuff, so dont get too techy on me.
i did notice a little black area on the one end of the plug for connecting the lcd to motherboard. i cleaned it best i could, didnt help.
how elaborate do the techs get at these cricket stores? could they copy the mb data and transfer it?

HTC for life?, One X has sent me packing.

I've always had an HTC phone everything from the EVO shift (yee yeah), to the Inspire HD, then got a Vivid, now I'm using this One X AT&T. I've been spoiled by Sense, I can't imagine having to use a Samsung. It's nice, fast yada yada but geeez its bubbly icons kill it for me.
This OneX I can't understand why the All the softkeys or home keys have been changed. The back key is for left hand people, Why does the recent apps button even exist and then put it in the most convenient place? No battery? What I mean to say is no extra battery. Ive always bought an extra battery so that if I don't have a plug-in or charger I got it covered.
Can someone give me any reason why the charge port is on the side?
No SD storage... This is probably the main reason Im done with HTC. A factory reset from the bootloader erases everything on your phone including backups. EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE! Not the recovery though...
Is there any way of securing the data so this never happens?
Now my camera has went out. No camera.. Ive tried everything, I even called HTC support they tried and they say "need new hardware". I really hate to tear into this phone.
I never write these vent posts.. I would fight someone lastweek if they talked trash about HTC phones. Maybe I got lemon, it's just One thing after another.
Although it seems like I'm trashing this phone I really love it. I just can't store anything important on it or take pictures, video.. I've read so many posts on replacing the camera but I just hate to tear into it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I never knew how important it was..
No one can say anything bad about the screen on the One X. It's amazing..
Sound is great
Smooth running phone too..
I'm scared to spend money on another HTC product. Maybe there is a way to try out a phone for a couple days that would be great.

You have the right to voice your opinion but this isn't really the place to do it. You're just knocking the phone. It's not a perfect phone, but it's really good once you get it rooted and all that. Stay respectful, everyone!

I'm wondering why you bought it on the first place.
Almost all of your complaints are hardware ones that you know about before buying the phone?
Personally I don't mind the hardware at all. External SD would be nice but not a big deal. And I like right side unlock buttons.
As far as the camera I think it was just bad luck or damage. Haven't heard about it happening much at all.

My niggles:
They put pogo contacts on the phone... but couldn't be bothered to make anything that actually uses them.
9.xGB of storage when I was expecting the typical 14.xGB for a phone advertised with 16GB.
HUGE pain to get root early on, though partially att's fault.
The phone loses signal if I leave it face up. (really gotta find time to get that fixed...)
Other than that, it's been an awesome phone.
I think HTC could've improved more in the music department and camera, but I agree with RollTribe. It's not a perfect phone, and there will never be a perfect phone imo. For me it was the software and hardware (GPS works!!) that made me stay.
Overall I would consider the XL solid. I'm going to look past the HTC One, though, and wait for the next generation.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I think the back button is in a perfect spot for right handed people, it is right in reach of my thumb when held in my right hand.
You complain about the recent app button, but I don't follow your complaint. It exists so you can multitask, you say it is in a convenient spot and I agree, easily accessed by the right thumb when held right handed.
Extra battery? I have never found myself wanting to buy extra batteries for any phone ever. I just charge mine when required. This phone lasts a full day easy if you are not playing games on it. I am a heavy phone user with maybe 30-50 calls every work day, sync an ics calendar every hour, use calendar, contacts, browser and email a whole bunch. The phone lasts the entire day. These days with my car dock I can play games all day without issue
Charge port on the side makes for easy landscape car docking, perfect for GPS. I slip mine into the car charger often these days, it is one of the easiest phones to get in and out of the dock as the charge port is on the side.
SD storage, again I use my phone for a whole bunch of things and have never gone close to using the full storage. I stream over Spotify via Bluetooth to my car head unit. I have about 20-30 user apps installed. I just can not fill the phone. I even have the 16GB model from Hong Kong while most around me who bought from Telstra have 32GB.
I have had my phone for 15 months now and the camera still works perfectly. My last phone(s) was a Nexus One and a Nokia E68(or something) I smashed the camera lens on the Nokia before 12 months, not sure how, but my One XL is fine.
Then the next user, Zodiac:
I like the unlock at the top, easy to reach with right index finger, but can not be accidentally pushed.
Then, antichamp:
pogo pin issues( I initially really wanted to use the pogo pins aswell just for the gimmick until I realized they only seem cool)
1)The pogo pins are used on the desk dock.
2)The USB port actually "locks" the phone in to the car dock, the car dock requires a locking mechanism unlike the desk dock.
3)The pogo pins would cause scratch marks along the back as the pins drag along the case as you slide the phone in and out of a car dock.
4)The pins on the dock would wear out because of #3
5)What is wrong with the USB port?
The phone is easy to get root on. All issues are AT&T, the phone in EVERY other region is a breeze to unlock.
My gripe is weird data issues, where you sometimes need to give the phone a kick (eg via airplane mode toggling) to reset data (3g, 4g or wifi).
This was been improved dramatically though the updates but is still a niggling issue that sometimes crops up.
Also originally I disliked not having a hardware menu key and being forced into the Android 3 dot menu thing. Ofcourse HTC listened and fixed that issue in an update.
When you say sound is great are we talking about the same phone? Can barely hear my phone speakers from the back seat of my car.
That and spotty service/data issues are my only gripes on this phone.

I think I might be having the same issue as you. Does the camera app just freeze immediately and crash? Then says cannot connect to camera when you try to open it again. Happened to me on AOKP Milestone 2 (rohan said it was an issue in the mainline AOKP), but now I've run 3.18 RUU and flashed the latest CM10.1 nightly and had the same issue.

This only occurs after you have modded the phone, so you can't blame HTC for this. Factory reset from bootloader works fine on stock phones.
The way to secure your data is very simple: Don't factory reset from bootloader. Its been mentioned in countless places. So if you wiped your backups, its your own fault for lack of proper research.
Research? Lets just try and read before quoting...

I would expect this kind of blasphemy if I posted a dumb video on YouTube, but the fact that this is a dev site full of "professionals". I posted a comment against my better judgement to try and find answers or suggestions about my phone. The first response is that
"This isnt the place for that" And then 2nd response is
"Why did you buy the one x, you should have known about these things"
First of all I dont think its constructive to rip someone down for a post when clearly alot of people are having the same problem. And I wish I would have found an honest review of this phone before I bought it. I wish I could have read my post before buying this phone. But for some reason Im a black sheep (to a few) for giving my opinion on very important flaws that anyone should be concerned with. I love HTC and have 6 devices prior to this one.
Im not sure who (the 5th reply) twist....? works for and to make statements like never having a storage issue and dont mind the internal card.? I never said anything about the storage. I am commenting on the fact you cant remove the sd card just to make sure the data is secure. And I would love to have a number of how many people use a car dock or computer dock.?? Maybe this guy works for a manufacturer/...///??
I always carry an extra battery and Im not the only person who does. To act like that is unreasonable is just ridiculous.
Of course not all phones are perfect Of course! Why would anyone feel the need to say that...
I love my ONE X It just annoys me that I cant take pictures of my little girl with it. Or store any important data on it. Ive had at least 5 people contact me about the camera issue and are having the same problem.
This last reply to my review and concerns and wanted suggestions takes the cake.
The last comment clearly says that if "you want to secure your data then dont do a factory reset from the boot-loader. It only happens on Modded phones". I have 6 HTC phones and none of them wipe the complete phone to include the external sd. NONE... I wanted to know if it was possible to lock the sd storage or "trick" it to thinking it had an external sd and dont wipe that. If you dont know the answer then fine. I dont see how that is irrational. And I dont think anyone comes to this site because they want to get information on "never modding or rooting there phone." This site is kinda geared towards people who enjoy learning and doing cool, great and ingenious things to make everyone's life better. Or awesome. But to get completely ripped by senior members and the comments being about something other than what I or other members even said is UN professional. This site encourages members to post on General Forumns. I think its 10 before I can move to the big boy pages. But at this rate what could I possible have to gain by it. If I make mistakes or brick my phone then why should I feel like an idiot for wanting people to know why and how it happened to save them a headache? I dont see how typing anymore will stress how childish most of the replies to my posts have been, cannonofcourse out...
You need to calm down. Redpoint was right.

Bottom line, you want perfect stability, Don't root.

No battery? What I mean to say is no extra battery. Ive always bought an extra battery so that if I don't have a plug-in or charger I got it covered.

I find that external battery packs are way more convenient. You can pick up a 10,000 mah Anker pack for under $50 and it'll charge your phone several times. And it works for any other devices that you might have that charge via USB. And it will work on the next phone that you buy.

Can someone give me any reason why the charge port is on the side?

No idea. It does however work very well with the iBolt car dock. Quick and easy to put the phone in and lock it.

No SD storage... This is probably the main reason Im done with HTC. A factory reset from the bootloader erases everything on your phone including backups. EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE! Not the recovery though...
Is there any way of securing the data so this never happens?

I found this out the hard way as well, but anything on my phone exists other places. I don't consider my phone to be a place to store unrecoverable files. My photos are automatically backed up to G+, contacts and email are on Google, anything else doesn't really matter.

Now my camera has went out. No camera.. Ive tried everything, I even called HTC support they tried and they say "need new hardware". I really hate to tear into this phone.

That just sucks. I had to get a warranty replacement at one point due to a bad SIM slot, but the AT&T service center swapped it out no questions asked, didn't even notice that the bootloader was unlocked.
With all of that said, I really do think that people here are trying to help.

I would expect this kind of blasphemy if I posted a dumb video on YouTube, but the fact that this is a dev site full of "professionals".

So if anybody disagrees with you, its "blasphemy"??? Nobody here is a professional. Professionals get paid. If you mean courteous and polite, I don't see any responses to the contrary. Yes, several of us have disagreed with you. But not in any way that can remotely be considered a flame, personal attack, etc.
I was simply pointing out a FACT that the factory reset from bootloader bug exists due to the phone being hacked. HTC could have not have predicted every way user-implemented mods could harm the phone. You have some legitimate criticisms of HTC and the phone. But the factory reset issue isn't one of them.
You asked for our thoughts. We gave them. Or maybe you just wanted to hear from people that agreed with you?
I'm done with HTC as well if motorola steps up its game with the X but frankly i'll support anyone except samsung. I just want to see android evolve to more than just 1 oem (samsung).
I don't hold the past against any oem. If i like the new phone, i'll buy it.

There is no desk dock for this phone...
For the international version there is, regardless of it's mediocre reviews.
I recently discovered the unfortunate truth of your 2nd point (I'm trying to make my own car dock).
On three and four, wouldn't that indicate a poor design of the phone? (blame the user ala apple's "you're holding it wrong")
There's nothing wrong with the usb port, I just think it would be convienient to both charge the phone and get analog audio out without connecting both the usb and 3.5mm jack.

Hmmm, bad sim slot you say?
If I don't leave my phone face down it loses service. I have to restart it upside down and shake it before it will come back.
Think I could have the same problem?
It's possible. Or it could just be the SIM carrier.

Actually I bought one of the "power on the go" packs from radio shack and broke it apart, replaced the battery with a 3600mah I ordered for my evo on accident. It cost about 8 dollars (plus the cost of the extra battery 12 bucks I think) and it charges my phone incredibly fast and about 3 times before I have to charge it back.up. Nothing worse than hearing that beep noise when your trying to get something done.

I do try to back up everything to the cloud, via Google drive or I have a media server but it always seems like the one thing I needed is gone forever. I just found out the hard way that a reset from the bootloader took out my whole phone. It just sucks not being able to pull the card out and hold it.
That just sucks. I had to get a warranty replacement at one point due to a bad SIM slot, but the AT&T service center swapped it out no questions asked, didn't even notice that the bootloader was unlocked.
It seems like a certain set of serial numbers are having a hardware issue. I hate to go without my phone to get it fixed but I guess thats what I have to do. Thats the price we pay to have it all wrapped up in one little cool device.
With all of that said, I really do think that people here are trying to help.

I know there are plenty of people that do a fantastic superhuman job. Just hours of searching to find out if someone has or is working on a fix or if I can provide info to contribute seems like so many people just lashing out for no reason.. But maybe Im being defensive.
Thanks
Unfortunately I highly doubt the issues you've brought up can be "fixed".
But...
I'm pretty sure you can change the location of the back button on certain aosp ROMs though.
Using battery case should mitigate the need for a removable battery.
The fact that doing a factory reset from bootloader wipes your phone can't be changed, but a little research on here warns of that in numerous places. And I don't think that's necessarily HTC's fault. It's up to us to educate ourselves about the risks we face when altering our devices.
For instance: TWRP 2.6 has an advanced wipe feature which makes it very easy to wipe your sd card while wiping the usual system and caches. I did that myself just recently, accidentally checked the wrong box and wiped my sd. I lost everything. Without a backup. So many photos of my kids gone for good. But I don't blame TWRP for making it easy to do that. I blame myself for working too fast and not being careful enough.

Did the factory reset thrrough bootloader cause your problems??
If so, all yous gotta do is plug yer phone right into your computer and let windows detect it. Once it finds it, it will send you a window that says something along the lines of having an error with the sd card, from there click the button that says fix errors, and your all set. This happened to me before and I couldnt play music, store or access anything, or use the camera. But now it works perfectly.
And as for the extra battery, the portable chargers provide more battery life with less money. It makes more sense to buy a portable charger even if we did have removable batteries. :good::good::good::good:
