I updated the ROM on my Wizard today, and there's a sort of white overlay that seems to be overlaid ontop of my background, making it look washed out. I remember I had this problem before but I can't remember how I fixed it.
When you are in Picture & Video, and selecting your picture for your today background, during one of the steps (or just 1 step), you have an option of selecting the 'transparency' of the picture. Just set that to adjust the degree of 'washing-out' suits you.

I noticed after a few days of using it that in many programs (tasks, contacts, calendar, & others, but not ALL programs), the screen is marked by gray horizontal lines or bars which fade out towards the left side of the screen. I wondered if it may be a problem in the screen protectors I use (Belkin), but the fact that the lines do not appear on the screen in certain programs seems to negate that possibility. Is anyone familiar with this?
Those lines are part of the theme that you are using. If you're using an old PPC2002 theme rather than WM2003 theme, sometimes the colour of the lines is too dark which makes it really hard so see what's on screen. Try changing the theme back to the default WM2003 one
not good
I have 2 options for the TODAY setting in personal settings - "spiral" or "windows default." I get the same lines with both options. They are more a light blue color when I choose the Windows default Today setting. What can I do? Those lines look like crud, to be frank, and a very faulty design.
Maybe you can dowload an other theme at www.pocketthemes.com and see what you can do
Good Luck
PS: Or make your own theme!!!
all the same
Sorry to say, I have tried various themes, including very light color and pastel - I still get the light blue lines going across the CALENDAR, TASKS, etc. I hope someone has a fix for this. Does it happen on everyone's PDA who use PPC 20003?
Hello.
Does anyone noticed any issues with semi-transparent overlays (alpha channel transparency).
In ES File Explorer in the address bar when it scrolls sdcard information, on both sides of the address bar it shows blinking black boxes, they are supposed to be white, simulating dissolving letters that passing under them. This doesn't happen all the time, but I'd say 80% of the time.
In SpeedTest the rectangulars under the speedometer are white covering whatever information they supposed to show.
This also happens in other application's settings, when text is too long and getting trimmed by fading away to the side, so the part that's fading away become dark colored sticking out as a broken font.
Anyone else experience this?

I've seen some text color issues, but the issues I see are the same as what I saw with my Desire HD running ICS. That being said, the speed test thing on mine works fine and I can see the boxes perfect. Did you root? Did you change to Rogers or put another RUU other than whats stock OTA on yours?
Yes, I did root and yes, it's was happening on stock rom and now on 1.82 RUU. I shall see tonight if it does the same with just fresh 1.82 without the root.
If the issue persists, what do you think could possibly cause it? (If you are certain that the boxes on each side of the speed numbers after the test are showing the graphs as supposed to)
I found what's causing it: Settings -> Developer options -> Force GPU rendering
Disabling that option fixes issue with transparency.
Any ideas if this is hardware related or software?
I've suspected for a while that my phone has issues with it's colors, because I can't seem to use any background without it pixelating (text mostly) or shows very unsmooth color transitions from black to white.
Whenever I select an image for wallpaper, the part outside the orange area has a browning overlay on the colors that just looks wrong.
Images full of colors look very good, it's the black and white ones with fading from dark to bright that looks horrible.
Could someone do me a favor and download this image, set it as background, and tell me if it looks clear and good on your screen, and the text looks good.

It seems like I keep running into problems with this phone
Thanks in advance.
How do you increase the "Motion Background" Effect on the S8+? I had it set so I could rotate the phone around and see the whole background but I can't find the setting any more...
For example a wallpaper of 2960x2960 resolution showing 1440x2960 on screen (showing middle part of wallpaper), tilt phone left, see the left side of the wallpaper, tilt phone right, see the right side of the wallpaper.
Any ideas?
Interesting idea, I would like to be able to have that increased notation effect.
I have asked in the original thread how to fix this issue since December but no one has replied. Does anyone know how to fix this issue with the modified launcher? The white Halo appears after a reboot. It goes away once you update the launcher and uninstall. The yellow screen in the settings never goes away.
Never seen something like that sorry

I tried to make my screen look like yours and was not able to get it exactly the same...but I wonder if you have a certain combination of conflicting settings going on here? When you go to settings > system > Accessibility... there are two settings in here called Color correction, and Color inversion. Using these with a light, or dark theme and having night mode with a manual screen color calibration under the display settings could render your screen yellow. Is it only the settings screen that is that yellow or is there any other "white" screens that look yellow? Also, the highlight color can be changed to whatever you want which would make the lettering red as it is on your settings screen. So, my suggestion would be to go through all these various settings to see if somehow things got all screwed up. YMMV
