TIP: How do I test my PDA for dead / stuck pixels? - General Topics

The easiest way of doing this is getting PocketLCD v1.0 by Bong's Workshop 2003. Install and start it and just click any of the colors to find out whether your Pocket PC has a dead or stuck pixel:

Note that the distribution package is pretty big as it also contains a Compact Framework install (which is not needed on WM2003+ Pocket PC’s, including Windows Mobile 5). If you want to save bandwidth, I’ve uploaded the only CAB file you’ll need to install on any WM2003+ device here (a 8 kbyte (!) download, as opposed to the 1 Mbyte-one original).
There are other alternates too; for example, Mobile ScreenTester by Sellit Hungary Bt.. It, however, comes in a MSI package requiring a specific desktop .NET framework (NOT compatible with .NET 2.0), which I didn’t bother downloading. Also, it’s stated not to be as good on VGA devices as PocketLCD.

Is it a must to select "SqlCeMobile" when you create a new rom?

Hi Gents,
Is it a must to select "SqlCeMobile" when you use BuildOS.exe to create
a new rom? What is it for and when will it be used or has it any connection with the OS core ?
Thanks!

I think it is MS SQL server. I guess you can live without it, but IMHO it is a bad policy to remove standard parts of the OS... You may find an application in future which expects it in WM 6.0 (since it is normally a standard part of WM 6.0).

Thanks.........

No, that is not true. Please read the following:

SQLCE is nessecary for the PIM, but SqlCEMobile not, it's the server SQL... It's not the same thing.
In the option.xml you can check the GUID of the application, normally there's only the GUIDs of SqlCEMobile and Lang

Opera mobile 9.5 - HTC Touch Diamond

Finally an Opera mobile 9 that works on the Pocket PC ( with out all messed up images ). Supposedly this version is a rip from the HTC Touch Diamond. It runs a bit faster too compared to the older Opera 9 .
Note :
* It seems to get installed in to phone memory regardless of where u choose to install it
* Need to reboot for it to work
* CAN be uninstalled

Apk auto signer with private certificate "CSigner"

This is an old version, apk CSigner can now decompile and compile apks.
See the new version here:
http://www.coolestech.com/android-ethical-hacking-could-get-any-easier-apk-csigner/
I’ve recently joined Android Developers and will be publishing CoolesTech app soon! All went fine until I had to self-sign my app (personal private key), and that’s what was like a nightmare (although it’s relatively easy); test keys worked like a charm when self-certificates failed… But Google does not allow test certificates as you may have noticed.
Whether you are new to signing apps, or getting “application was not installed”, then you’ve finally reached the correct place!
I have tried signar 1.3 and signer 0.3 but after my app seemed successfully signed I still got "application not installed.
So I have created my own tool, called "CSigner" that only runs in windows and comes with 2 versions (32-bit & 64-bit)

I'm posting it here just in case someone goes through what I have been striving to achieve...
