what is 00,32 and 64???
that's the amount of ramdisk memory.
http://buzzdev.net/component/option,com_simpleboard/Itemid,59/func,view/id,837/catid,26/
bit old thread, but you'll get the idea
so if i get 64 ill get much better ramdisk space?
jup, with 128/0 u've got no ramdisk but allot of memory. (hover over the word: ramdisk that will explain the different versions)
with 64/64 u comprimise some mem but have 64 ramdisk, that's the one I use: just enough for the tomtommap benelux ;-) (working with sdgps module)
it's widely discused in this forum.. search for it for more info
(you'll need it for setting it up!)
WM5 Himalaya ROM's
Kabayan, Bstard has explained it very well. Its the user's preference how much RAM disk you would want in your device. Basically, if you install programs in your RAM disk, they won't be deleted even if your battery runs low (similar to a hard reset). This is the main difference in WM5 ROM's.
You might also want to check out other WM5 ROM versions. There are ver 2.03.xxWWE (xx = 0, 32, 64) and AKU3 3.00.xxWWE. Search the forum for the features and advantages of each ROM. Good luck!
thank you morph!
im using 2.03 00wwe now
Guys you have to remember though that even though you have ramdisk, your "my document" files will still be erased once you make a hard reset or if your battery runs out. Another thing, you still need to re-install everything unless you have a backup software. I'm not sure if your "my document' folder can be moved to the flashdisk. Others can comment on this.

Hello,
I'm newbie, so plz don't get mad, in case I have a question that has been answered earlier. I did use the search function of this forum intensively, but couldn't figure out how to do what I'd like to do.
What I know so far (plz correct me if I am wrong):
1. The ROM consists of two sections. First the extendedRom and secondly the storage section. While the storage section is writeable, the extendedRom is read-only.
2. It is possible to transfer the extendedRom memory area to the storage area, so that we have more space to store applications and data (bigStorage).
The questions that I have:
a) There is a ROM version and a ROM date. I guess the ROM date depends on the ROM-version. If that's the case, I think it's useless to indicate the date if one already knows the version, isn't it?
b) What does the radio-version tell me about a system? I did search for "radio-version". But it's hard to get the appropriate information, if every third's signature contains the 'radio-version' of a user..
c) What is the protocol version about?
d) On desktops or NBs my core system is mainly determined by my 'c:\windows' folder and the registry entries. How does it work for PPC? I still have the O2 Active User Interface and I don't like it very much. But before installing any apps, skins and plugins I would like to format my XDA mini and reinstall the core windows mobile from the scratch. Just like reinstalling a new desktop system. Is that possible? What do u think?
Thx for all coming answers,
moses3k - yet another magician lover
Hi,
For details on the rom-layout you can consult the wiki.
The dates & version numbers are apperently not from the same scheme eg radio 1.13 appeared months before rom 1.13 which came with a 1.12 radio.
Reinstallation of your magician is a hard-reset camera&power&soft-reset pressed at the time. To skip O2's 'extra's' you'll need to soft-reset just before customization starts. That's right after you get the default WM background after finishing the init.procedure.
Cheers, M

just kidding.
Downloaded and flashing now.
Thanks you and buzz.
Hi Vivi,
Are you going to do a 64 version? I'm excited enough about Buzz's v2 but would prefer to reflash and resplit my memory allocation at the same time.

Yes, I modified to 64WWE HERE
No other edits, only the RAMdisk space.
Many many thanks Vivi,
I'm reflashing as I type.

Hi Guys
I am currently running the Sin Merged v2.0 Windows 2003SE version of the OS on my XDAII.
What are the benifits of upgrading to the new 2005 OS?
does any one know if this version of the OS has less or more bugs then the 2003SE version I currently have?
Many thanks!
FB
Has any one tried this new update as yet and has used the older 2003SE OS, if so please could you let me know how you are finding it so far?
Is it stable?
What are the new features?
Is it worth the upgrade?
Many thanks
FB
YESS ... and with this ROM I feel littlebit faster ....
hi indra9110
Many thanks for the reply
Where you also using Sin's 2003SE ROM?
Have you noticed any problems with this the new 2005 ROM as yet?
Sorry for all the questions, I am trying to get my phone as stable as possible and have had a few issues with the original 2003 as well as 2003SE (better then original though) so I was hoping that the 2005 ROM would be even better?
Any extra details of what is included in this rom would be great as well as is it just a matter or running an EXE file and it does the rest for you? (As Sin's 2003SE rom did?)
Many thanks!
FB
TofClock has just posted his modified 2.01a ROMs (three versions with differing RAM disc sizes 0, 32 or 64) with all the fixes and tweaks identified as being needed in WM5 for the Himalaya (so far)... a few minor ones remain mainly dependent upon country, exact device etc but in the main it is receiving very good marks for speed, stability and functionality. I would certainly recommend it over WM2003SE.

Hi Mallow1
Many thanks for the reply, although I am more confused as to which one is better and what I should do now... LOL
Any idea as to what the diference is between these 2 roms?
Also do these both have support for Australian phone providers and settings?
many thanks guys!
FB
why does not many people seem to be using this ROM? Not much information about it :-(
Even the other ROM that Mallow1 seems to have a few issues.
Does this ROM have the same issues?
I'm trying to find a more stable and slightly faster ROM then the Win2003SE (Sin Merged 2.0) that I am currently using :-D
Has any one every found a rock solid ROM that works on the XDAII in Australia?
Cheers guys!
fudgebottom,
WM2003SE is not as good as WM5 (which haspersistant memory for your data so it won't get wiped when the battery goes, plus it has enhanced features over and above 2003SE in that it is the next generation up and benefits from chnages as to how users use their phoen.. too many to list but there is plenty to read in all these forums).
WM5 2.00a was adapted by BuzzLightyear from a plain vanilla official ROM (i.e. a ROM not modified to work on any specific pda platform). Buzz tweaked the basics so that it would load and run on our Himalayas, but no other mods were done to it. TofClock has then undertaken the other work needed to cutomise 2.00a to run better (faster, more stable and with less bugs). These ROMs are know as 2.01a (there are three so far each with a different split inthe memory allocation... WM2003SE allows the user to move a sliding bar to rebalance how much memory is used fro storage and how much for runnign programs. Because WM5 has persistant memory.. tis cannot be done and the allocation occurs by choising which ROM suits your needs best, 128MB RAM, 96MB RAM and 32MB "additional" storage (i.e. total still equals 128 MB), or 64MB RAM plus 64MB additional storage (the last is the one I use).
From what I've read, I think that all earlier versions of WM5 were not vanilla WWE (i.e. were in another language whichwas then translated back to English and had been originally service provider branded). All this was BuzzLighhtyear' work. WWE is World Wide English by the way. So the original ROM was then changed to work on Himalaya and bugs ironned out as best could (as we all beta reported). The last generation of these ROMs was 1.71 versions which still had various issues with their performance. In theory therefore getting hold of a vanilla ROM and modifying it for the Himalaya would therefore be the purest, cleanest route to go forward with. This is what 2.xx is based on.
WM5 2.01 versions are therefore cleaner and faster and more stable so far. If you wish to upgrade these 2.01a 128, 2.01a 96, 2.01a 64 are the best to date (Tofclock is working on further modification as these things continually update ad infinitum). Their minor bugs can be read over in Buzzdev.net where this is all documented in the posts/threads. Its easy to find... go read! The only difference between the three 2.01a versions is the memory allocation as mentioned above.
Hope you are less confused, but I have to say, read more as all you are asking is covered in these forums, wikis and related forums. Also these sites as the nme suggests are developer sites. Software is underdevelopement (beta) by definition. HTC (the makers of the XDA ii/ Himalaya, haven't released an official WM5 ROM for Himalaya, they did with WM2003SE). So if you are interested in beta work/ developement then go ahead and reflash with the WM5 ROM of your choice but there will always be somehting not 100% with the result. That's why we are all compiling the issues and tweaking ROMs.
Hope all this helps.
Kin regards - Mallow1
When uograding to bigstorage for the first time the process can look daunting but fear not, even if, as mine did, it doesnt go as per the screen shots / directions it may still work. Mine did and with the following installed here is what i have ended up with.
SPV M500 / Magician with bigstorage
running are
intellidialier, voice id (extra from extended rom)
Installed are : --
Tomtom 5, Calligrapher, pocket breeze, pocket contact, avantgo, pocket music, and several other small aps not worth mentioning.
I the process went ok using my 1gb card until: ---
As the how-to says the rom size created relfects the size of your card so the rom i was working with was 1gb, I could not use the recommended hex editor with that file due to system resources, let me tell you when you are that far into the process and you cant open the rom it is very annoying. Thankfully there are several other hex editors out there that let you load files up to 4gb allowing for resources but unfortuntely neither my old xp laptop nor my media centre could still open it. I ended up using my powerbook G4 with HexEdit 1.1 which loaded the rom just fine for editing. All the rest went OK until the end of the flsh back to the phone where i got a failed message, after a soft reset it booted into the new rom with no problem.
I have to stress to you guys thinking about trying this, it IS worth it. I am so pleased with the results. After updating and setting up BT Activesync, mms, pop3 etc and with all aps running I have the following: -
Allocated 17.7MB Allocated: 29.70 MB
to use: 11.16MB to use : 14.75MB
Free: 6.55MB Free: 24.95MB
And that is in a running state with no restrictions.
Well done to the community for such good documentation and their desire to share information and allow us newbies to get the most out of these wonderful units.
Hello,
I hope I dont sound like an idiot, but what is a big storage rom?
I have heard it mentioned quite a few times in the forum. I have a Krome Spy ( analog of M500) from australia.
Thanks.

Nice to know that you were successful in upgrading to BigStorage. I've done it since the very beginning. My next step would be "nonentity's" File System Tweak.
@rohsek: please search this forum and you will find the answers you need.

With BIG Storage you convert your EXT-rom with operator brandings into extra internal Storage. You actually append about 20MB to the default 7MB Storage folder. Very nice hack.
Regards, M
COuld somebody tell me where I can find the HOW-TO described above??
Aren't there any standard ROMs?? It seems to me that when someone creates a specific ROM for a specific model, this ROM can be used in multiple devices or am I making you  ROFLYAO  by asking this question??
I've also got an Orange SPV M500 (with a huge memory shortage )...
Could someone please help me out??
Thanks in advance!!
Kind regards,

Hi Maarten,
Still in English: visit this link for a complete description http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=MagicianRomUpgrade. For an already patched nk.nbf you can download this one ftp://xda:[email protected]_NK.nbf/BIG_Storage_nk_for_rom_1.13WWE.zip
Success, M
I see many WM6 ROM's on this forum. I flashed several WM5 ROM's before and now have a version of WM6 running. It works fine but I am dissapointed with the performance. I just to run an older version of Molski WM5 and i still feel it was faster. I might try cooking a ROM myself, but since so many ROM's are already being built I wondered if (and which) ROM is built for speed through:
-Optimal Page pools
-Included registry tweaks
-Limited amount of startups
etc etc.
Overclocking can also help of course but if the base is already fast it is a better starting point. And to be honost if I would cook myself I wouldn't know exactly which settings to use.
For the 15.2.1413 build, the "Naked+Camera" is about as streamline as you can get. Nothing extra, no fluff. Lots of free memory.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309131
Thanks. I flashed before but always from an exe file. This is a nk.nbf file. I searched the forum here but the flashing sticky doesnt mention how to flash a file like this? is there a special tool required?
Latest Update (25 June 21:07 GMT8)
Now that Beasty is offering "official" help and expertise on the VC component, we can look forward to improve the VC even further. I understand that you may encounter odd bugs while using the VCs and this is to be expected. The intention is to gather inputs for a more stable release soon. Cheers.
25 June 2008 - MAJOR Update
Version: EF 2.40 WWE WM6.1 Build 19900.1.0.3 + VC Ready Components
Pagepool 6.5MB for 64MB Unis (G4/G3)
As per advised earlier, the rom now offers Video Call option which can be enabled if you wish to use Video Telephony. BUT please consider this as a beta Release (on the VC part) because, like Beasty and Laurentius before me, I only managed to get VC running up to 70-80% with so many other possibilities unexplored. In fact after many sleepless night and red eyes, I am running out of ideas on how to get the VC build up to 100% - and with regard to this, I am sharing the very same Kitchen that I use to cook the roms with all the contents to those interested in doing further development on the VC part. The Kitchen is based on ThingsOnASpring and all credits should go to him.
Background:
The VC components have been ported over from Dopod 900 official rom 1.30 release in WM5 flavor. Apparently, our Uni will not aknowledge the later versions of Video Telephony dlls and drivers which I took from the official Athena WM6 and Tytn. I have tried all combinations to no avail (with the later version VC dlls).
Only with proper arrangement of WM5 VC Dlls, Intellidial and Camera components will the VC work properly on our Unis.
So, the end result is a forced entry of WM5 dlls into WM6.1 build. And because of this it is expected to behave somewhat oddly on certain functions (more about this later)
So how does it work:
Download the rom here:
Version: EF 2.40 WWE WM6.1 Build 19900.1.0.3 + VC Ready Components
After the first boot, to enable VC, go to Programs and click on Enable Video Call icon which will run a cab installer automatically. YOU NEED A SOFT RESET to activate the changes
IMPORTANT:
- Making a VC will trigger self dial (dial onto itself), just click answer and the dialer will continue to make the VC. Once connection is establish, if the VC interface is not shown to you, click on "Call Status" and you should see the two windows of both caller and recepient
- Ending a call or unable to establish 3G VC due to signal or other issues, the screen will show "Connected:" but do not panic, this is a small display bug and does not mean that you are connected to 3G network unecessarily
- Should the dialer pads become sluggish after a while, a soft reset may be required. But this happens very rarely.
And finally, for those interested to cook your own custom rom based on this build, please download the kithen here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?lecmcgmmmz2
The kitchen is ready to cook EF 2.40 release.
Again, thank you for your support and hope you guys will have fun beta testing the VCs. It's not perfect but at the very least provide a glimmer of hope of what to come.
PS:
If you find my handiwork to be useful and feels like buying me a drink, please PM me for Paypal ID.
UPDATE:
Video Telephony has been successfully integrated into the build I am using now.
In the next 24 hours I will be testing it extensively to see if there's any bug or issues.
We all know that previous efforts by WM6 chefs was fraught with difficulties, I expect mine to be no different. But at least the indication has been good so far. We shall see how this will fare later.
On the other hand, I may remove the inclusion of Ext Rom as usable drive due to the issue of storing email attachments.
Hope to get some good results soon.
Latest Update:
A friend of mine is using Uni G4 and he has been able to flash this rom successfully
Important UPDATE:
I just found out that my Uni is ACTUALLY A G3!. So this Rom will definitely work on all G3. Silly me, I didn't read the Wiki thoroughly enough to differetiate a G3 and G4 LOL!
If you are keen on 19900 WM6.1 in Vanilla flavors, please read on. I have just recently micgrated from O2 Xda Flame to Dopod 900 (HTC Universal) and have ever since been looking for a "stock" looking WM6.1 WWE. The readily available Vanillas seems to suffer from "excessive parts removal" to make them light and have suffered from odd behaviours on my aged G3. Since I am not new to Rom Cooking (my previous work can be found at www.xdaflameusers.com), I decided to cook my own WWE and the one I am using now seems to be quite a performer.
This ROM is build on four separate instances:
ThingsOnASpring Kitchen ->
Tomal's 7.7 19900 nk.nbf decoded and extracted ->
OEM Components deconstructed and removal of extras ->
SYS Components revised and HTC Official Kaiser WM6.1 WWE was used as filler to restore missing components ->
Reg Mods all over for performance and stability ->
Additition of minor HTC OEM components & drivers ->
Mo3ulla 2.15 (19588) nk.nbf used as target donor host ->
ThingsOnASpring XIP as the base XIP donor ->
RESULT:
EF 2.22 WWE 19900.1.0.3 Vanilla for G3 Universal (G4 not tested because mine is on G4)
Main attributes:
- Very stock looking
- 7.5MB Pagepool for 64MB Unis and FF Pagepool for 128 Unis (need someone to test this)
- Upon first boot, 40.XXMB of Storage and 26.XXMB of Memory
- Extended ROM already unlocked and ready for use - renamed as 10MB_Store. Update: I am looking into preventing clashes of SD card and Extended ROM for mail attachments
- Includes native support for both normal SD and SDHCs, SD Settings has been removed in favor of static SDHC components which will read/write both normal SD and SDHC. This has been rigorously tested with my 8GB Sandisk MicroSDHC (with SD adapter) and Kingston 4GB SDHC Class4. Both performs flawlessly tested using Windows Media Player with over 1000 songs on high bitrate MP3s. Using the old SDHC drivers, pause gaps between songs was around 5-6 seconds but now the gap has been reduced to 3-4 seconds
- Includes HTC Network Wizard for easy 3G/GPRS setup
- Grayscale BG for CommManager with all Stock features restored
- Runs perfectly with Radio 1.18
- Exchange Push Mail fully tested on 3G/GRPS - worked flawlessly
- Excellent synergy with SPB Mobile Shell 2.0 and Pocket Plus 4
- .NET CF3.5 installed and confirmed running perfectly
- Games, Transcriber, Schap VOIP, OneNote & Windows Live etc removed
- Registry cleaned of excess traces
- No FDISK/RAMDISK included for stability sake
- Proven stability with 3G/GPRS always on & Activesync in background with Microsoft DirectPush. On top of that with SPB Shell, SPB Finance, Windows Live and Pocket Plus running back to back
Downloads:
EF 2.22 19900.1.0.3 64MB Unis (Pagepool 7.5MB)
EF 2.22 19900.1.0.3 128MB Unis (Pagepool FF)
Note:
Before you flash, it's a good idea to blank out your Extended ROM to avoid complications. Default HTC Autoinstall from extended rom has been known to cause system freeze on first boot
If you are new to flashing, I highly recommend reading the Universal Wiki - the Wikis has been a great help to me when I first started over 2 weeks ago
Credits:
Of course, this has been possible due to the the hard works of Tomal, Mo3ulla, ThingsOnASpring and many more before them. They deserve all the credits where applicable.
Disclaimer:
There's always risk with cooked roms flashing. Do this at your own discretion and do it only if you are absolutely certain of your intent
Thanks & enjoy!

Yes, the base roms used to construct this one has been known to support G3. I see no reason it should not work with a G3. BUT I have never tested this build on a G3 because I don't have one. Any takers?
Thanks

Quick question
Does the ROM contain the RGUs?
If it does, this may be a better base for me to use with the Diamond addons, rather than Ranju's 19900 build...

The rgus are not included in the rom itself due to over 1.15MB size added if they are not deleted. But I can share the ones still in OEM & SYS of the kitchen I use. Anyway I am in the habit of modifying the output hv files (Default.hv & User.hv) directly just before cooking so the rgus may only reflect 80% of the actual mods done. If you extract this rom, just before you pkg them into SYS and OEM, grab the hv files and convert them into master rgus.

Yes I am thinking of testing this out. Thanks for the input
