Ok, let's finally get this right...
I am looking for a plain battery meter for WM5.0 AKU2.0. I DO NOT want a today plugin. I want something that goes right next to the clock and looks like the one on windows mobile smartphone. We'll also need to eliminate the CRAPPY meter from AKU2.0. The battery meter on the Treo 700w is also quite good...has anyone managed to rip this piece of software? PLEASE SOMEONE let's finally get the normal battery meter that should have been in PPC all along!
Thanks in advance to anyone working on this!
Best,
MJB
Hi,
I personally prefer the Batti program by David Andrš.
Great piece of software and highly customizable.

Check it out. It might not be what your looking for, but it sure is worth a try.
Cheers,
Shah
This does not work AT ALL on my Sprint PPC-6700. I install it, configure it, and nothing shows up at all even when I select "Always on top." Any other options??

snappy snappy...
i use magic button. can be found here: www.trancreative.com
i like the fact that it take up zero otherwise useful space. simply a white, double-pixel line at the top of the screen, length indicating charge. it doesn't get any better than that. plus, i find it a really nifty task manager. good luck
whats wrong with the one thats next to the clock ? it works great on mine!
battery_OU_081304.sa from the WM5 extrom.
I like the one that sits above the top bar when you install SPB PocketPlus. It has a good resolution to it (ie lots of divisions).
Ok, please let me refocus this topic...we are looking for a battery meter replacement that LOOKS STOCK...these other solutions are abundant, but NOT the goal of this post. Please take a look at GreenSoftware's GS Battery Meter. It looks completely stock, but comes up as a notification. Does anyone know how to replace the AKU2.0 battery meter with this solution? That would be ideal...
Thanks again to all posters.
MJB
I have the green battery meter that is on the T-Mobile AKU2 rom, and it does exactly what you are requesting.
Can you post a screenshot of the one you have to see if it's the same?
I DON'T really GET what you are saying, but PLEASE stop using all the caps to emphasise your point, because I think people will assume you're impatient, moody, and not worth the time to help
The one I have is a simple 4 bar affair, and when you tap it, you get the battery screen with large bar, and a percentage.
Either the notification popup, or full page one require you to OK it, so I don't see the advantage of one over the other, and both read the level from the same place, so accuracy isn't an issue either.

I think the problem is the AKU2 battery meter. It only shows 2 levels of charge, full or half full. It's pretty useless and a step back from the original WM5 batter meter. I don't know why a battery meter must "look stock" though. I'm using the battery status plugin from the prophet forum which is great - and OCs my PPC as well. 8)
Sorry about caps earlier... Yes, my issue is that I would use the WM5 AKU2.0 battery meter if it was useful, but it sucks. I'm just looking for something that looks like it belongs there and actually works. I'm curious about the green battery meter that is on the T-Mobile AKU2 rom. Is there a way to make it white? Anyone got a screen shot? Thanks a lot everyone!
MJB
I don't know if its the same Green Battery that AlanJC was talking about. But I have one on my O2 XDA, its part of the O2 Active thing. [see blow]
I'd love to keep the battery icon and dump the rest of the O2 Active stuff, [as the phone is mainly used with Orange]
But I wouldn't know where to start.
I have the .CAB file if someone would like to try and edit it.
may i have your cab please?
and it works on Tytn?
Hi bubu
It was part of the ExtRom on my XDA Exec, so I don't know if it will work on the Tytn. But I don't see why it wouldn't, as its a Today Plugin.
The CAB file installs alot of other O2 stuff which isn't much use if your not on O2, If you can edit it down to just the Battery let me know.
Edit
The CAB file won't upload, I keep getting an Upload Error.
PM me an e-mail address and i'll post it to you.
The battery application in that o2 build is not a plugin is a standalone exe. Just save it somewhere and save the images. Write down the folders and you can delete anything else.
In the final build it was removed as MSFT pushed its own solution.
Cheers,
Raul
Hi Rain,
The file i've got is a 6mb .CAB. I extracted it to the desktop, but didn't find any images, EXE or Folders inside.
Is there a special program needed to save it and get at the files ?
I believe rain means for you to copy the exe file directly off of your device and to then copy the corresponding images files (also from your device) assuming we put them in the right places on our devices, it's like the battery app will work for us. thanks for all your efforts!
MJB
Hi mbial,
I think i'll have to leave it to an expert then.
I've spent two weeks trying to find the Orange today plugin files without any luck.
mbial got my point
You can install it once and delete everything else you don't need.
You will not be able to delete battery app after restart because its running and images i think you can figure them out. All files are to be found under windows\Mobile Solutions\O2ActiveUI folder. If you're unsure what image to leave than do not delete the "images" subfolder.
The reason for telling you that you need to keep this files on your local PC is that in the last RUU the battery app is replaced by MSFT's two-states battery app.
Cheers,
Raul
If i have some time this days i'll rebuild the sources and post a tiny cab here for download
Stay tuned.

As in SKtools, we all have a common pattern to check some parameters in our devices, there must be a procedure, we all could use, to test the battery drainage and performance.
I know battery status does it in some aspects, but it depends on the apps running behind and it doesn't make statistics.
So that's it. A benchmark
THanks
SKTools don't have this feature... However, somewhere here was a small cab with a tool, witch log the battery drain and remain every 5 seconds or what else you configure. I asked allready bevore for this one, but nobody answered what tool it is and where to find it. Maybe here...
I have an other problem of this kind: I use BatteryStatus TodayPlugIn and it allways shows a batterydran of about ~180mW. A week ago I tested OMAP-Feature of it, overclocked it to 201Mhz and the batterydrain raised up to ~400mW so I turned it off again, but the drain of ~400mW keeps. Subjective it seems that the batterydrain is again ~180mW but it shows even after an softreset ~400mW.
Is thisa n bug of BatteryStatus? Hof to fix it again? Thx!

Memory after hard-reset..
based on: midget ROM
main memory:35.9MB
program memory:>27MB
Really, I always wanted to get productive instead of flashing my halley berry(my black universal) after every 1h or so. I was spending more time flashing and setting it up.
This ROM is actually for those people who want all the important utilities as a part of OS itself.
Some highlights of this ROM..
*no crap in "my documents": this includes all the useless pics, nonsense sounds Actually, before this ROM, whatever ROM I used to use, this was the first thing I used to do that is, delete all this crap. yay, this means no "dog bark" sound !!
*It should be clean and usable for business purposes: Clearly, we have invested so much(put more stress on "so much!") on our device. That is why, no crap
*Vista skin for WMP mobile:thanks to Xcillion. This really makes me say, WOW! Infact, this is now the default skin of the ROM. see the second screenshot
*TCPMP: yeah! It is a part of ROM now. So, you save ~1.5MB(yay!)
*no bubble-breaker
*Adobe reader pre-hacked to VGA mode.
See the difference in the first screenshot given below
*Playlist editor inbuilt to the ROM:find it in the "utilities" folder. Now, you can make/edit playlists on the go
*USB HDD:find it in the "utilities" folder
*Pocket RAR:
*no "one note mobile":see the third screenshot. This is no more(anyone used it anyway?)
*soft keys mapped to contacts and adobe reader. The left soft-key says "my contacts" and the right soft-key says "my PDFs". Sounds windows..isn't?
*some really nice and beautiful themes are built into the ROM. I m sure, everybody would like them. See the 4th, 5th and 6th screenshots.
*on the other hand, the ugly looking themes which used to be built into the ROM are gone now. Yeah no guavas and no green theme
*the default ringtone just got changed! The ringtone is soothing now. I extracted it when I had a chance to beta-test the "atom exec"(~1y ago from now). Its lovely. I m sure, all of you will like it. And don't worry, the default WM6 is still there. Just by some other name
*no htc plugin
*no pim backup:accept it! all of us have better backup tools(somebody said, spb backup?)
Just a little request after hard-reset: you gotta manually go to the file explorer>>windows>>start menu>>programs and delete the backup folder from there.
I m somehow unable to delete it
If someone can mirror it, it would be benificial for the community

This ROM is based in Midgets, so it doesn´t have videocall.
I personally like the "Clean ROM" idea, having a customized extended ROM or my favorite apps cabs to install afterwards.
Beauty is a very discussible concept: p
seems like a nice release.
but why did you change the phone skin? the delete button still has its pink mask around it =\
and of course it would be unchangeable because its in the rom, so the images are read only.

Odd isn't. This pink portion should actually be inivisible. Actually, in photoshop, the pink(to be exact, magenta) is depicted by 255,0,255. This is not seen in WM5 ROMs. Mysteriously, this is still seen in WM6 ROMs
I ll try to come out with a path or something to overcome this. IMHO, it still looks way sexy than the O2 skin or tmobile skin, does not it?

a babe rom...
based on midget's....
i wanted to know....
there were some issues of Bluetooth handsfree usage with midget's roms. after a while... they do not acknowledge the commands given to the phone from the bluetooth handsfee unit. e.g. last dialed number, voice dial, hang up. etc.
is this all fixed?
Otherwise... the base rom is almost flawless.

Appreciate your concern...
i'm on your rom at the moment. have been testing since released. the problem still persists.
you are right... it does work for a while but after that... it starts.
i'm using Motorola H350 Hands free. its command button (you know the one on the ear piece) is dead and not working now. but the status of being connected is still appearing on universal. To get it work, one has to re-pair it.
while in this button un-responsive status; if a call is dialed from the phone, its voice & mic are flawlessly routed to the bluetooth handsfree but the call cannot be put on hang up/mute/hold or any function that the button supports.
this does not happen in other ROMs like Jwrightmcp's, helmis, pdaviet, darkforce or default WM5.
Only Lt. Cmd Ivan's ELF ROM and Midgets all builds have this bug.
i think there is some problem with this Windows Mobile 6 Professions CE OS 5.2.1413 (Build 17913.0.3.0)
i might be wrong but all tests have been done and problem is detected.
my request is if we could get this bug fixed. the ROM would be a Mega Hit.
Its speed is great (seems like the device is overclocked)
stability is good.
more device memory
garbage date removed (dog bark, bubble breaker etc)\
* battery drains quicker but is affordable
looking forward...

Now, thats odd. My BT handsfree works fine. Are you sure that the problem is not with the handsfree?
I love the idea of a clean ROM with only the truly ubiquitous apps in it - the only problem is that nobody agrees on what those apps are.
I think I agree with pretty much everything you've chosen apart from the Adobe Reader over Pocket XPDF. However, I like your stance of functionality for business - I need my Exec to give me the functionality I require whilst approaching the reliability of a proper phone - recently, it's been a great PDA, and a shockingly bad phone. Hopefully, the latest release of ROMs will improve matters.
Cheers,
Steve.
I installed the touchflo, it gets installed , but doesn't start etc. it needs somebody to get it working ,it doesn't seem all that far fetched like wm5 or wm6.it needs somebody from this forum to get it going . like they have done it on prophet, wizard, artemis, with some tweaking and alteration of biotouch file etc.cmon give some respect to the forgotten hero who started this transition from window mobile of being brick sized pda's to mainstream phone
Where did u download TouchFlo,cab?
it's all over, just download from these forums , it will be there in one of the wizard, trinity , prophet threads where they tried and succeeded ah somewhat , creating the touchflo work on their devices . u need to be logged in to see the link

absolutely agree that Goodwin and FunContact is worth installing on magician or wm2k for that matter...IMO Vito should upgrade Goodwin to have more interactive home screen...now its seem that you have to scroll a lot because everything is in one page...
I didin't like this Goodwin, on my Magician it "half-worked", the signal strength and battery meter doesn't work and the button slide lock too, just when I start the program it appears and then never more. But I agree that the User Experience is fantastic. I am using the 2.03 WWE modified ROM.
Goodwin etc.
It is correct that the batterymeter and the signal strength don´t work, but with the lock-button i think you make a mistake: click on it with stylus or finger, hold it and drag it from the left side to the right side of the display, and the device will be unlocked so that you can work with it. I think batterymeter isn´t as important, i took the Power-button to Favorites to reach it easily for controlling the battery status. Another effect of the "half-working" is, that the timer to controll the testing period doesn´t work, too! So, for devices with WM2003, it´s Freeware!

dude.. it's less than $20..I say just pay for it man..if u ever tried to write a program for a PPC2003 phone u'll know what a b!tch it's like...these ppl have put alotta effort into makin it work and the least we can do is show our appreciation... afterall.. this ain't TrashWare like a dodgy virus remover that installs the viruses in the "free trial" version just so u can pay them $20 to "get rid of it".. this is pure sweat and hardwork that someone's put in dude...and the lack of technical docs from M$ doesnt help either!

Yup, confirmed working & stable in Uni after 3 days of use. HTC Home now displays better although notification counts still cut-off/partially hidden at 128 dpi. Most progs are compatible except in my case 1-calc.

First of all congratulations ranju for the nice ROM (judging from the posts in your thread)!
With RealVGA we get to use HTC Home Today plugin which doesn't display well in QVGA. A lot of today screen space is also realized as well as getting to see a lot more on the screen on other VGA-aware progs. The drawback is when non VGA-aware programs are run, the fonts (& icons) are veeery small to be read/seen.
Can't comment on games as I don't use mine for that kind of stuff, but some say that VGA games are cool in Real VGA!

I've just downloaded and installed this file, and let me thank you for this.
And... Here is my two cents, i just wanted to share my experiences on how programs behaved in this mode.
The icons at SPB Today plugin doesn't display.
The Task manager icon is corrupted and is hard to click on it.
I've resetted my PDA twice since i installed this and both resets required another reset since it stuck at windows logo.
When i opened VC Painter.. well, it kinda crashed and i had to reset.
I've opened Pocket Artist, it works well except the icons at the toolbar can not be seen unless you click and wait on over them.
Opera seems better this way, you really enjoy browsing in fullscreen. Well, at least whilst opera "can" open web sites as it's supposed to be. I still am struggling for using meebo.com.
Minimo, the browser that i could barely have had any surfing experiences since it drives me crazy, is worse than Opera at browsing but works at RealVGA mode, well... kinda! (It crashed again when i tried opening a website.
The dialer skin doesn't fit the screen good enough. It has a blank space at down as big as the "Hide Keypad - Menu" bar is.
In this mode, viewing photos is a feast since you can view them in their original resolutions.
Resco Audio Recorder application denies the screen res. and tries to open like it was in back. It feels like they've coded their program to fill the screen according to ratios. Looks bad.
Wohoo! Keepass looks fantastic!
Novii Remote doesn't run at this screen resolution... *sniff*
pTravelAlarm's skin looks like crap, pity...
psShutXP feels more like real,
Voice2Go behaves just like Vito Audio Notes,
There're some minor font issues when i was exploring settings...
Oh and, it drains memory!

hi dreamtheater... i also had the same problem before...
i think these are the files i used for the htc home plugin....
htc home plugin: rt HTC home 2.0
htc home plugin customizer: HHCv08b.cab
this home plugin is the one with the 6 tabs... you can enable this using the customizer... you can also change the clock skins, icons, etc.
makes your home plugin look even better...
no other requirements except that you must be in wm6 for this particular plugin i posted (and in realVGA to get correct display).... i know i read somewhere that they were able to make a Cab to make the htc home plugin run on a wm5 device...

Okay I've done alot to customize this phone and I love the end results. Just a few things bug me that I'm not sure there's a solution for. I've tried searching but didn't find anything helpful.
1. I installed Sprite Backup and even though the program works flawlessly, I've not only backed up data but restored as well, EVERY time I do a soft reset on my machine I get this error message saying something about SpriteStart.exe could not be opened. Yet I manually open it and it works. I tried their site and they say to reinstall. I've done that more than once, same issue.
2. On the screenshot attached, I really love this ROM/Theme/TF3D setup but I did all the tweaks to stop the internet push concept. I'd really like to remove any reference of it from this as well. Any ideas where in the registry I'd edit that or a CAB to do so that's already out there?
3. I also installed the inbox extender and I love it. I'm wondering if there's a way to set it into the menu in TF3D so I don't have to actually choose "Inbox" and go there to mark all messages read. It's an extra step that's kind of annoying for me.
I think that's all for now. Any help would be appreciated.

Okay, let's see what we have here...
1. Sprite Backup still doesn't "officially" support WM 6.5. So, there might be some sort of inherint problem there at the moment (although I know of a lot of people that have it running fine on 6.5). If you're able to manually do a backup/restore fine, it sounds like you might have a scheduled or automatic backup set? If so, try disabling any scheduled backup and soft reset. Do you still get the error after that? Also, when you uninstalled it to reinstall, did you remove every instance of the program, then soft-reset, then reinstall?
2. Do you think your pages are still being pushed, or do you just want to get rid of the push page links on the internet tab within manila? If you like, and if you already disabled push internet, you can set up your push pages as just "favorites" and set the push frequency to "never".
3. This one has actually been asked many times before. Unfortunately no one has come up with a solution yet. It's not an issue where you can simply edit a manila file, rather it's buried in an .exe or .dll (to the best of my knowledge).
Let me know if any or all of that makes sense. Good luck!
May I ask what Dusk files you used? I'm also using MightyROM w/ my Verizon TP2, but I was constantly getting freezes and flashed back to just MightyROM.

It appears to be this one.
rotation
how do i get the screen to rotate horizontally without opening the keyboard?
thanks.
It is that one but with Spike's taskbar.
Thanks for the replies guys. I ended up flashing the Mighty ROM from scratch and reinstalling the theme leaving Sprite backup off. I'll just manually sync with my desktop.
The push issue, yeah I just wanted that to not show on the internet manilla. I guess I could create my 2 most used sites and set to never push on those. Thanks!!!
One other thing:
Since I'm on Verizon, I realize that my taskbar icon shows EV instead of 3G but I don't like it. If anyone has a workaround for changing it back, let me know.

Trying to steal the OP's thunder by hijaking the thread? Tsk tsk... for shame.
Download and install Gyrator.

That network indicator is actually built into the custom taskbar you installed. If you'd prefer it showing 3G, you'll need to install a taskbar that has that instead. If I can find a good one, I'll post a link.
Regarding not using Sprite backup anymore, have you ever tried using Microsoft's My Phone, or there's also Dashwire, or PIM Backup too. All easy to use and all work great.
edit: Also, I believe it's tapres.192.dll that includes the network icons. So if you just want to change that icon, this is the file you'd need to replace/edit.
I actually have PIM Backup and use it all the time but just for my text messages. I guess I was wanting a full system backup so that when I screw it up playing in the registry like I did earlier today, I can just restore from backup and it be back to where it is right now... maybe I'm not being realistic.
And the icon is built into the taskbar? I didn't realize that. Does it matter what taskbar I use as long as it's meant for Manilla 2.1 and WM 6.5?

No, you're not being unrealistic at all. Check out My Phone or Dashwire. both can backup pictures, texts, contacts, etc. I personally use My Phone... good stuff.
If you have the taskbar you used, post it. I'm no artist (really, far from it), but I can see if I can tear apart the .dll and try to edit it. No promises that I'll succeed though.
You did want it to say 3G, right?
edit: Sorry, regarding the question about it mattering what taskbar you use. Since WM 6.1 and 6.5 have different taskbar layouts, they aren't compatible with each other. Manila versions won't matter.

Here's the taskbar. I grabbed it in the middle of one of the Dusk threads here but I can't find it now or I'd just point you to the post instead.

It's this one:
Spike's_ MicNeo_TaskBar_Varient_3_v2_MIGHTYMIKE_CDMA_FIX.cab
and Yes I love everything about it except that it shows EV instead of the 3G icon. I live in the stix and waited forever to sit at my house and see that little 3G on my phone so I realize it's silly but I still want it if possible. Thank you so much!

Haha, that is a funny (just a little). Seeing EV isn't quite as satisfying as seeing 3G when you're on the "BIGGEST 3G NETWORK" in the country!!!
Anyhow, after a little doing, this is what I came up with. Just install it (don't uninstall your current taskbar, this just adds to it) and then soft-reset. If it doesn't work for you, let me know.
Enjoy your 3G coverage... errr... icon.

Yep, like "Big Red" (Verizon). You're welcome!

I actually use and have used SPB Backup for quite some time--and it can and does all that, and then some. All though Sprite and even MyPhone are great, I have come to rely on spb backup.
You can do full or custom backups AND restores of PIM, Emails, Documents, System Data and Storage Cards. There's also a handy little sync tool so you can keep your backup .cab's auto-magically suncconfused to your desktop(or laptop). You can also restore in three different modes: New Device, New ROM, OR standard. And there's also a backup scheduler.
However, it's not free ($24, and sometimes they offer a promo code around the holidays), and as I write this I'm also on MightyROM(11.16.09) with what seems like two files from the windows library that have problems backing up--but the backups do fully restore, and I've yet to have any issues because those two files won't release during backup. Caveat Emptor.
