Reminders not alerting - General Topics

Please help!!
Until today I get a reminder for my appointments with a message displayed and a sound
However I dont get reminders anymore, nothing has changed
I have ckeched all the settings and they are ok
I.E: set reminders for new items to 10 mins
enable sounds for reminders
play sound and display message for reminders
I have got an MDA Vario

Fix for this!!
Ok, I found a fix for this, so thought I would post it if anyone else has thisproblem
It is a known WM5 bug
Download and run a tool called memmaid, then choose notification queue
look for any entries with a past date or blank lines, or strange text or duplicates and delete them
Alarms now display and work ok

When I reset my device after doing back up I get multiple reminder alarms going off and I cant see how to stop them or dismiss them. There is no message or notification associated with them.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Reminder problem

When I put a reminder in the calendar or the task item on 07/12/2007 10h00 for example, the phone wakes up, but that's all: there is no notification popup and sound.
But for SMS, the notification popup and the sound are OK.
To solve this I have tried the following:
- Settings | Personal TAB | Sounds & Notifications TAB | Notifications
Event: Reminders -> Play sound is selecte
- With SKtools, I have rebuilded my notification queue.
Unfortunately it did not solve the reminder notification problem. I don't have any other solutions, what can I do ?
The main reason of having a PDA, is the reminder system, so my PDA is currently useless :'(

Before hard reset you could try new version of pmClean and MemMaid.
Good luck and let us know.
I hope I do not have to hard reset it would take me so many time.
I have tried with the latest version of MemMaid, and did not solve the problem.
When a reminder comes to due, the PocketPC turns on, so it means the notification queue it good, isn't it ?
So my problem would be that the notification popup and the sound is not call. It should be a configuration problem. But except my test explained in my 1st msg, I don't see where this could be.
I had exactly the same problem - device was waked up but neither sounds nor massages. I remember that I had many reminders in NQ generated by City Alarms. When I removed this program and did some NQ cleaning problem disappeared, but I can't give you detailed procedure.
Maybe you could try Check Notifications to see "suspected" reminders only (displayed in red color) and then decide if you want to delete some of them. But don't use automatic cleaning in CN - it just delete too much
There is reminders problem FAQ somewhere in forum to.

How to disable Pocket Outlook new email notifications?

Does anyone know how I can disable the annoying "new email notification" that comes out of pocket outlook every time it syncs with the mail server?
I sync my Pocket PC with my Exchange Server and I've tried to turn off the new mail message notification in "settings", "notifications", but that doesn't seem to have made any difference....
Thanks...
I am searching diligently for this solution too. I have it set to check email every ten minutes and unless I view the email (dismiss won't do it), it continues to alert me to new email.
Any help would be appreciated.
Bump.
Has anyone found a solution to this? I have the HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks!
Same here....so want to disable the notification.
did you try settings->events and notifications->notifications
pick messaging new e-mail message
and uncheck the box's ?
Crieky! That was it... Sorry, Windows Mobile is new to me.
sound..
This only removes the sound... I would like the sound, but not the cartoon-speech-bubble indication a for the notification. Same goes for missed calls and SMS'es actually. I mean, I have a 'missed calls' indicator on the today-screen, and SMS and EMAIL show a number next to the touch-flo icon so I can't see why I need the notification-screen at all...

On the same Sounds & Notifications menu you have to untick "Display message on screen"

missing "system sounds"

[Rooted UCLB3 with Zen's Infusion A kernel, voodoo sound installed]
1 - When I go to Settings / Sound / Volume I see 4 sliders (Incoming Call Volume, Media Volume, System Volume, Notification Volume).
For 3 of the 4, when I move the slider I hear a sample of the volume as expected.
But for the system volume slider, when I move it I hear nothing at all. Doesn't matter where I move it, all I hear is silence.
2 - I think I haven't been getting any audible notifications for calendar appointments lately.
Is "system volume" used for calendar appointments? For anything else? How do you set the sound associated with system volume (it's different than notification apparently).
How to get it back?

Is there not an "Alarm" volume on your rom?
Calendar appointments may just fall under Notifications for you.
System Volume would be those innate clicks and UI sounds when you click or open things on your phone.
If your Calendar isn't making any sounds, check the settings in your calendar app to see what notification tone you have set for your reminders, and that the notifications and reminders are enabled.
Hopefully that helps!

Aha, so that’s what that system volume for.
With "audible selection" disabled in settings (my original configuration), the slider does nothing.
When I enabled “audible selection” in settings, then that slider produces a click when I move it. That explains why the slider wasn’t doing anything before (audible selections was off).
I had associated this system volume slider "symptom" with lack of calendar alarms since I noticed the slider movement didn't do anything at the time I was investigating my lack of calendar alarms... but that was an incorrect conclusion on my part.

After your post, I just tried a special calendar appointment with alarm set manually and it did work. (stock calendar app). That’s good.
It used to be that all my appointments had alarms occuring 15 minutes ahead, alarms set automatically with no action on my part to set an alarm for individual appointments.
Now it seems like I only get alarm if I manualy set them.
My challenge has now evolved to: how do I get alarms automatically scheduled on my calendar apponitments?
The appointments I’m interested in are ones sent to my work outlook email account. I have an outlook rule which auto-forwards everything to my gmail. When my gmail receives an invite it puts it on my gmail calendar which is sync’d to my android calendar.
It used to be the case that all these appointments sounded an alarm tied to the appointment, 15 minutes ahead. Now nothing happens (unless I set an alarm manually, which I didn't have to before). I almost missed a meeting yesterday as a result.
I checked Android calendar settings, don’t see it in there.
I checked gmail settings. Don’t see it in there. Actually there is an un-used option for gmail to notify me by text message of appointments on my gmail calendar ... but the old calendar notifications didn't come on text message. So I guess I have a solution available (notify of gmail appointments by text), but I'm wondering why it doesn't work the way it used to.
Maybe it is in my outlook calendar settings... I’ll check that next and report back results...
resolved (sort of)
I checked MS outlook settings. There you can set an alarm for individual item but I don’t think there is a default alarm (and even if there were, it’s not logical that it would be relevant to my gmail/android which only knows about the invite, not whether it was accepted in outlook).
I don’t know what changed. To be honest, I don’t remember ever setting up my gmail/phone to provide meeting alarms, it just started happening automatically by itself immediately after I set up the outlook rule to forward all my work emails (including meeting invitations) to my personal gmail account. But after I started getting those meeting notifications on my phone, I did grow to expect that behavior and rely on them.
To restore my meeting notifications on my phone, I have now setup gmail to provide me with SMS 15 minutes before meeting. Should get the job done, and perhaps even a little more reliable than before because I will still get the SMS even for meetings scheduled at the last minute where my phone may not have had chance to sync to my gmail yet.
So, my problem is solved by setting up a different type of notification (sms from gmail calendar). I’m not sure what changed (open to comment if anyone knows), but doesn’t matter other than for general understanding.
Thanks again Ryo for helping me figure out it had nothing to do with system volume.

I'm glad that fixed things!
Yeah, I used to keep the audible selections off all the time, so system volume was pretty useless.
Also, I think "system" controls the dial pad sounds on the Dialer app, as long as you have those enabled.

You said you're running a rooted UCLB3? Is that Gingerbread Stock?
JB and ICS have a setting in the Calendar App that lets you decide the default 'reminder' time. (Which can then be tweaked when you create the actual event.)
Gingerbread or Froyo, though... I honestly can't remember too well (it's been too long ago!), but I don't think that option existed there.
I also checked the Google Calendar website settings, and there isn't a default reminder setting there either. =X

Sorry that you had to resort to such a round about method... If you can't find the setting for default reminder time, you could either change your Rom, keep with method you are using, or use a different calendar app. (When I was on Gingerbread, I found that I liked an app called Business Calendar. I'm not sure if it'll work for your needs, so you'll have to give it a try.)

Calendar notifications disappearing after 1 hour

Hi guys,
I am facing a strange issue since I installed the latest update on my S7. The notifications for S Planner events, that are shown when you pull down the top menu disappear after 1 hour. It used to stay there until I cleared them out manually.
I also tried Business Calendar 2 pro. Same thing happens there.
This is very annoying as I leave the notifications there until I deal with them and if they disappear I just forget that I was supposed to take care of something.
I was trying to find the setting that is controlling this with no luck. I really hope that this is a matter of setting or a bug.
Could someone help me with this please?
Thank you.
Same here. I have installed Google calendar - the same happens.
Any solutions anyone?
same here.
i also tried google calendar, but it does the same-
the reminders disappear after the event's time is up
====================================================
EDITED - Solution
I found a workaround solution: i installed "Events Notifier for Calendar".
One of the app's features is configuring how a reminder stops: manually stopped, when the event starts or when the event ends.
So now i can still see my reminder notifications, even when they disappear from the calendar notification since their time was up.
Bump. Anyone figure this out yet?
Google search (with quotes): "Samsung or Google Have Screwed Up the S Planner App".
You can try Samsung's alternate UI, "Good Lock"
It has two tabs in your notification pull down where you can store notifications you want to save for later.
