Tytn: strange charging issue - General Topics

I got a brand new tytn, and after 2 days i noticed a strange problem:
after a soft reset i plug my miniusb wall charger ( but it's the same with car cherger) and tytn start to charge. If I unplug and plug again my pda doesn't charge until i press the on/off button. Then if i switch on tytn it stops to charge.
No problem when i plug and unplug on my pc where i have activesync, so i think it's a software problem. Any suggestion

Same problem here, nobody has a suggestion?

I had this problem. Drove me crazy in the car when trying to use Garmin. Had same problem with JasJar but NOT with the K-Jam.
Its not a cable or charger current issue cause most USB ports only supply 500mA.
Try this and see if it works for you as it did me...
Plug in your cig lighter charger, whilst connected, reset the TyTn.
After that, mine started to work fine!! Weird EH?

imate (Pocket PC) Dosen' Charge

hi everyone, i got a real problem here... my i-mate Pocket PC is not charging... i think that one of the wires in the charging connector (in the phone) is half broken.... but maybe this is not the problem, alse when i put the battery in the AUX battery slot available in on the cradel it is not chargint too (AUX BATTERY led is not turned ON). i dont know what is actally happening... please help.. i cannot charge the phone any more..!!
If you take the PDA and battery out of the cradle, and unplug the power to it, plug the power back in, and see if the AUX Battery LED flashes.
If it does, the cradle is still getting power, if it does not, then the charger, or cradle may be faulty.
With your device, you will have had a power cable adapter so you can plug your PDA directly into the power adapter without the need for a cradle.
Try charging your device with this to see if it's the cradle or power adapter.
no the cradel is okay... thanks.. but i found out a bigger problem .. one of the power strips in the connecter is broken thats why it is not charging.. still dont know what to do

O2 XDA ATOM battery charging

I found that today,
O2 Atom's battery will not be charged by USB just connected to a power source.
For e.g. Atom will not be charged if USB cable directly connected to a travel power adapter. It only charging by bundled charger or USB cable connected to a PC computer (even not a MAC).
Anyone can solve this probelm? And special USB pin assignment?
Thanks
Hi,
I had a similar problem with my MDA Compact when I first got it. It was because the nice people at T-Mobile had configured the ROM to only charge from T-Mobile Chargers.
This was a particular problem when in the car. I found that if I did a soft reset it did start to charge but if the device went into sleep mode it stopped charging!! I used to start up Tom Tom and if forced the device to stay on and hence it charged okay.
I recently upgraded the ROM and it now works with any charger.
Perhaps it is a similar problem?
Regards
SOLVED!
I found that PIN 4 of the Mini-USB have a resistor connected to ground.
It will be charged if the cable have such a connection.

Qtek 8310 charging problem

Guys, i think i have a problem with my Qtek 8310.
Whenever i try to charge it with the charger, it will show the amber light indicating its charging from some time and after that it will just shutoff itself and start to blink in red light.
i tried to charge the qtek battery with my other smartphone (SPV C500) its charging properly. I tried to charging it with other charger also, unfortunately no luck.
i started encountering this problem only yesterday onwards.
nowadays, i am charging it through my computer USB and it charges without any problem. Anybody had this problem or heard of a problem like this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
thanks
Krishna
hi, I have the same problem with my 8310 (1 month old)
the AC adapter doesnt work correctly with the phone
I thought of using another adapter, but I see that you already tried this
the only solution that my retailer gave me, is to make it exchange..
I have the same problem, but if I connect the wifi when I charge it, it works fine....
Really weird problems... Do these happen even when you use the original chargers? Maybe should go back to the store...
I have the same, but i upgrade to Imate ROM 2.5. It fix problem. Now charging well.
I have received a 8310 with the USB-miniUSB cable. I am trying to use it for the first time. When I first started it, it powered on, showed windows mobile, and afte that the battery died, so I cannot power it on. I am trying to charge it with this USB cable. Is it possible when the phone is off?
Should it start charging it when I plug it in in the PC USB port?
And how much time does it need to be fully charged when charging from PC over USB cable?

Unable to Charge HTC TOUCH PRO Via a usb/car charger

Hello,
I have a VODAFONE BRANDED, HTC TOUCH PRO phone and it has started playing up suddenly.
It would charge when connected to a pc, car charger using a usb cable or using any mini usb charger. all of a sudden it has stopped charging with any other charger except its own htc wall plug charger.
I have tried a hard reset and still no joy.
the charge via usb is unchecked and it charges when connected to a PC.
However it doesnt charge with the following methods which used to work earlier
1. Motorola charger - mini usb
2. Using a usb cable and a wall output with usb
3. car charger with a usb output.
I have a htc audio out connecter. when i connect the connector, and then charge via usb it works in the car and from the wall.
is it something to do with the pins on the cables and on the device??
I used to get a menu asking the sort of connection that i needed (activesysnc, data etc) when connecting to the car charger earlier, it does not come anymore.
Its frustrating cos i travel a lot and find chrarging with usb cables the most convenint in the car, office or else where.
Could it be damaged pins on the device??
Any ideas/suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Many thanks

Its prolly pins because the mini USB is not a perfect fit for the HTC audio jack. I would use your HTC adaptor and run the USB through that.
Something might be blocking a less than 1000mah income charge..
On low battery (as in dead-battery) you definately need a wall-plug charger. Under normal conditions the USB car charger or laptop would be fine.
Since you hinted the use of the audio jack I most likely is a bad connection on the USB pins. Did you take a look at them using a magnifying glass?

Ur problem solved? I am facing kind of similar problem... Now my Touch HD can only charge using USB cable through computer.. it will not charge using any other external AC adapter.. very strange huh?
100 % fix
I managed to solder the black negative wire to the usb housing of a male usb mini and now it charges without any problem. The housing is used as a substitute for pin 5 that is negative because it has a metal shield as standard.
to make it easier for some noobs, just get a usb female to a usb mini cable and cut it off and solder the negtive black wire to the shield cable around all the wires. AS standard all usb cable have this shield metal that conects to the usb housing.
This is a FIX if you have managed to break the pin5 when inserting the stylus in the usb rather than the RESET button.
I had a weird charging issue with my AT&T Fuze as well...
The phone would charge fine (wall or PC USB) until I got some kind of notification on the phone (missed call, e-mail, etc). Then it would stop charging. Often when it was on the charger and on, the battery would run down until the phone shut off. Then it would start charging again. I would put my phone on the charger at night (and on) only to come down in the morning to find my phone turned off and charging because the battery had run down!
Shortly after this started happening I also started to get "storage memory low" messages. Coincidentally, since I freed up a bit of the storage memory (cleared IE and Opera history) I have not had the charging problem...
mini-usb problems with charging
This is the 2nd Fuze that has problems with the mini-usb connection and charging.
Slight forward pressure is needed to get a good connection. This happens with two different cables, two different car chargers, and three different HTC usb adapter dongles.
My phone is usually plugged into my computer or my car charger, unless I'm carrying it. I keep the screen lit when on external power as I use it extensively as a PDA. It's real obvious when I lose the power connection, as the screen blanks shortly thereafter.
Do i need to send my fuze back? since I havent read a solution. I dont think its software but i turned on charging through usb and now its the only way to charge. No chargers work? Grrrr. Batterys and chargers are good. This happened to my last fuze.
not to be a prick or anytihng, but have you checked the battery settings, there is a checkbox so it doesnt charge when plugged in - i've knocked this on a few times myself
the OP already noted that that option was not checked. Please read a little before that.
My car charger sometimes need me to move the wires around abit before it starts charging. It seems to be more like a pin issue.
Mini USB Charging Problems
I had the same problem.
I just solve it by using other mini usb cable.
Now it charges.
HTC Touch Pro Charging via USB Problem Solved
I can't believe it was that easy! You are correct; There is a check-box that will disable charging via USB if the unit is powered on. "Systems/Battery" I have been putting up with this for months, but never took the time to try and solve it. Sheesh!
