How to enlarge a picture for use on PPC photo dialing? - General Topics

Hi!
A friend of mine send his picture (jpg format) to me with a scenery background. On the PC it looks ok since I can enlarge and size the picture.
I can also crop his face out, size or enlarge without problem.
However, after saving the cropped closeup picture of his face I tried putting it on my PPC for photo dialing using Contact-ing but the picture only occupies a portion of the given space i.e I can hardly see his face.
Anyone knows how to make the cropped closeup larger?
Thanks

cant you do it with one of the millions of photo programs on the pc ?

RE
I tried using Win default PAINT program but cannot be done
Any free program to recommend?
Thanks

yeah if you want simple image editing
you can use the free and great program called
irfanview
if you want a more complex fullblown photo editor program for free
get Gimp (win32 version)
i'm sure you can find programs which can do many of the things you like
which run on the ppc too but imho it's likely to have less features and be harder to use then a pc program

Why not try Picasso 2 free from Google?
(I think it's in the Google Download Pack or something.)

[REQ] Windows Live Photo Share Integration into HTC Album

I have recently lost a lot of photo's when my Mac at work decided to kill my 16gb Micro SD card.
I have since installed Photoshop Beta which is currently uploading every photo I take to a private folder on the net. Which works great, but there is no easy way of moving those images to another location like windows live without saving them all down individually.
I'd like all my pics to be stored on windows live as you get much more free storage but It will only let you share one photo at a time which is slightly annoying.
HTC Album on the other hand will let you select multiple images and batch upload them to facebook. Just not to windows live.
Is it possible to integrate windows live into the album? Auto upload would be amazing but a batch select upload would be spot on.
Anyone looking for a challenge??
No Idea's?

Comics or Mango work for me.
There are a few that I use.
Mangawhat : this program reads directly off of mangareader.com and mangafox.com and a few others.
the other two that I use to read off my memory card are:
SCViewer
jjcomic viewer
i was just using xcomic which i found worked well, it had a database of free comics and they all save to your device if you download. You can double tap on a scene and then tap the right of the screen to have it take you through square by square.
I did a lot of research before porting my CBR's over to my TF. Of everything I was able to track down, I found Perfect Viewer (< Market Link) to be the best fit for me.
It looks good on the TF in portrait mode (you can use landscape but without the ability to display dual page, side-by-side, it is less practical). There is a bigger learning curve with Perfect Viewer, but it has really great customization once you get elbows deep into the settings. You can adjust various page transition effects, loading functions, slideshow settings, set page as wallpaper for the TF, etc.. Some things I learned by trial and error (such as touching up at the very top middle of the portrait screen to go back to the bookshelf or assigning doc titles to the tops of each page and page numbers to the bottom). If you elect to use it, you may want to turn off some things such as all of the "load last" options.
All in all, it's a good fit for me. I loaded up a MicroSD with my entire collection of MAD Magazines (Issue #1 to present), and every issue of Zenoscope's Grimm Fairy Tales to test for load issues and the TF handled the bulk well (though you can toggle "Low Memory Mode" if necessary). Once I was comfortable that I had found my reader, I loaded up the rest of my reading fare.
Manga Watcher is my favorite. It links you to several websites to download from automatically. Just input the series and it'll show you how many chapters are out.
Just remember when you first open it you gotta change the setting to watch it in portrait mode and to set it so when you tap the screen, it'll change the page.
i'm using Perfect Viewer, i like the way it's supposed to work, but i'm having a problem setting the bookshelf to my microsd card...i'm using /removable/microsd/comics as the set path but it keeps saying it can't find the folder.....is it possible to set the bookshelf to a microsd card or do you have to use the internal storage?

My collection is on a MicroSD so I know it works. I use the same address as you (/removable/microsd/comics). Here's a few things you could try:
1. Verify that the files are in the directory you listed.
2. Make sure you spelled the address correctly. If any folders have caps in their name then use the same caps. Make sure you didn't type a "\" instead of a "/". The address in my "Manual input" field is as follows, "/Removable/MicroSD/Comics" (I use caps in folder names.)
3. Check to see that the MicroSD card is, in fact, working.
4. You're using *.CBR and *.CBZ files, correct? Not PDF?
I know the things I listed seem simple, but I can't tell you how many times I tore my hair out trying to figure out something and there was a simple solution that had eluded me during that moment.
caps is the key...
thanks, should have known that might be it.
Droid Comic Viewer is good if you don't need a lot of extra features.
is there any way to increase the size of the bookshelf in prefect viewer? In order to see the books a bit larger, tried the pinch zoom, didn't do anything and can't find an option for that.

Unfortunately, no; at least none that I know of. You could always send a suggestion to the creator through the Android Market. I plan on sending a few myself (such as calling up a warning dialog box before completely backing out of the application when hitting the back button; I hate having to relaunch because I went back too far).
I would like to be able to zoom in as well. As it stands, I have to bring up the comic to see the cover, then tap the upper most, middle of the top of the screen to go back to the bookshelf.
I do like that you can see your entire collection, then view it split it up based on the folder layout you set up on the MicroSD card by clicking on the "catagory" button at the top of the bookshelf. I have a huge collection so being able to dedicate the bookshelf to specific folders on the card makes finding things easier.
Manga what
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Manga Rock!
For my iPhone: Manga Rock and Manga Storm.
For my Nexus 7: Manga Searcher. But I've heard that Manga Rock will come to Android soon. Hopefully, it will be as good as the iOS one. :victory:

You can use Manga Rock for Android. Really polished and well-functioned manga reader app (Japanese comics).
Here's the download link:

Kinda hard to use Manga Watcher!

But we need to know the manga title beforehand. It's hard to discover new manga there.

Application for signing documents?

Hello all
I was wondering if someone had encountered an application that would facilitate signing documents on our tablets?
Ive tried printing to PDF or JPG and using something like Picsay pro to annotate the document but its a bit round about and picsay only saves a really low resolution image.
I was hoping there was something I could use that could allow me to open a document that may be in word, PDF etc. and sign it using a stylus or finger. I dont care if it has to be converted into a flat image as I am basically just emailing back a signed image anyway.
My current use is NDAs. I get sent them and am expected, print, sign, scan and return. If I could use my TF to do that then not only could I save trees but I could do this anywhere I got cell signal.
There's an app for that: Fill and Sign PDF's
Only works with PDFs that have form fields apparently. Most of these are just going to blank documents that were scanned to PDF.
What I can do is either convert the file to a PDF or just an image and what i need is an image annotator that can handle large files. But currently everything scales it down to being useless.
Id love something that could do it in one fell swoop but I think that is asking too much. Just convert a word/pdf/etc to a flat file that can then be annotated and emailed back as an image/pdf.
I use repligo pdf for document signing. Great app.
Ive gotten close with just the office app but one issue I am having is I recorded a signature but whenever I make a transparent GIF or PNG it shows all wonky on the transformer, just solid black.
Is there a way to get transparent images to display properly?
Give this a look. if you want to be able to sign on a PDF and have a crystal clear finished document.
at least watch the video.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cerience.reader.app&feature=search_result
worth the investment for business purposes.
By far IMO the best one i have tried.
Thanks, I think I finally got there with your suggestion, its not the most elegant in all cases but it works.
For straight PDFs I can open relpligo. When they come in as Word documents I went ahead and bought Adobe's PDF creator to convert them to PDF and then sign them in repligo. This works because this means, if they are in word, I can fill out any fields in Polaris, convert to PDF, sign and then send back without ever having to touch a full featured computer.
There is a free app called SIGNificant. You open a PDF document and you can set an area for the signature. HOwever, everytime you sign, you need a WiFi connection or the document won't be saved.

Blurry Gallery

Hey guys
i have a samsung omnia w running mango(AKA: Focus flash i667) and i have noticed that photos and pics i have synced to the phone are blurry. even if its native 800 x 480 pixels. if i place the same image as wallpaper, its sharp
any ideas?
Are you sure the photo is fully loaded (usually only happens when viewing something from cloud storage)?
yes its on the phone, it was synced via zune, the slightest pinch make it all sharp again
no one?
Yeah, this is my experience too. My explanation is that the gallery uses compressed thumbnails, and only when you zoom in does the full picture get loaded.

thats exactly what i thought, i did the reg hack to show the device as portable device in windows explorer in an attempt t see if there we thumbnails created in the sync process, found nothing , so it must be stores somewhere else? :C. i am guessing this is the fault of the sync process, i did copy the image straight into the portable device via windows explorer, by passing zune, and the image looked sharper
but when you do that, you wont see the thumbnail preview when you go into gallery
any one know of any zune hacks to create high quality thumbnails?
ok so here is my fix,
1. Convert the phone to a portable device
http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2010/11/18/use-your-windows-phone-7-device-as-a-portable-usb-drive/
2. Copy over images straight to your device, without using zune. you might get a warning saying image may not open on your device, ignore it and copy it anyway
Note: do not have the image too big, try somewhere below 1600x1200, as too big an image will case it to look weird. hope it helps, and let me know it goes guys

Resize Photos

Does anyone know of a good app that will resize photos? Photos are taking up a huge amount of space on my limited phone storage. I like having my photos available, but I really don't need the full resolution. I know I could copy them off, and use a Windows tool to do the resizing, but are there any apps that anyone is aware of that will do bulk resizing on the phone?
Thanks
You can try wallpaper wizardrii.
Image resizer in market
my apartment smells of many leather bound books and rich mahogany....
