re
on the pda :tick enable pc sync & select usb
than tick maintain connection
--just plug your pda in the usb & wait for to discover the pc your pda
i'm using activesync 4.1

is enable but usb device not recognized :x

I suggest you read through these two threads first. Both of them discuss in detail the procedures involved. What's important is that in ActiveSync, the option "Allow USB Connections" is unselected. Here are the links of the two threads;

Qtek S100 Problem ! Please Help !

Good evening guys.
My pc (Win Xp Pro) does not recognise my Qtek S100 so i can't upgrade my rom via usb.I have downloaded a recent rom from xda-developers/magician.... to do an sd upgrade method. My problem is that i don't know how to put the rom files from my pc to the sd !!! Ofcourse i have a sa card reader.
I tried a different s100 just to ensure that the cable and pc don't have any problems.Everything went ok.
I want to make the upgrade because i 'm stuck in a Serial V1.00 Screen.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my english .
first install activesync
Check
usb cable
conect usb cable in diferent usb port.
check activeSync .
archive-conection settings- check box "usb conect" is activate..
Sorry for my english..but i speak spanish..
Saludos.
correct me if i am wrong but :

activesync will only find your device if booted with OS (operating system)
but however you should still be able to upgrade rom tru usb cable just hook up your device with the usb cable and dowload the correct shipped rom for your device and run it from your PC it should find your device and attempt to flash
good luck wiro
!Usb Device not recognised!
Thanks for your replies, but I said that i've connected another qtek s100 with my pc and my usb cable with success. So i have already installed the active sync 3.8.
As Wiro said i'm stack in bootloader mode ! And when i connect the usb cable doesn't display the "USB" but insists with "Serial V1.00".
I want to upgrade my rom from a secure digital (sd) cause i don't have another choice!
I 've been surfing through forums but i only found how to make an sd to upgrade your phone when you have an mda or xda (.nb1 files) . Qtek's roms have .nbf files !!! So i'm looking instructions to make an upgrade sd card with .nbf files (Qtek , Htc Magician) and not .nb1 (Xda)!!
mmm
i sync
rename to
fixed.nb1
i change this and work men ..i copy in sd 512Mb whit
ntrw.exe
good lock ...
Suck me , it doesn't make any change if you give nb1 file different name!!
The s100 looks the extension and start to download from sd.! My problem is that i can't find any nb1 files from internet . The roms that i have downloaded (when extract) have ms_.nbf , nk_nbf , radio.nbf and some dlls and apps via windows upgrade-installation not via sd.
I made a sd back up from another s100 but when i put the sd into my qtek's sd slot says something like "sd download section 1 cannot update", maybe because it's from a different s100 with a different id so the proccess stops . REMEMBER that i can't back up my qtek because the xp doesn't recognise it ! Any thoughts?
Thanks for your replies
and
Sorry for my english
A little question for you expert guys !
I 've made a back up a rom from another Qtek S100 , but when i insert the card into my qtek the update stops because of the different rom ids, i believe . My question is :
could i change the rom id manually with an hex editor or some other tool ????
Mmm
for the id error
you need
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/Tools/MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
you need connect to usb for this...
but you say that not connect to usb..
The one to publish the ROM is very dangerous...
i don't know this....
sorry..
Check Tools..
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Magician/Tools/
saludos..
thanks for the reply suck me
what do you mean when you say publishing the rom???
mmm
sorry

i **** a hp2210 with this system (hexedit)..
sorry but my english...
Bueno solo te quiero advertir que el metodo de editar la Rom con un Hexeditor es muy peligroso.
yo deje inutilisable una hp2210 con este metodo (hexeditor) ..
saludos...
Ok guys, Finally i fixed it.
With new rom , the pc recognise it and everything working good but with no backup battery (as it was destroyed when it went for swimming). It doesn't make any difference.

HELP on installing ROM

hi
I'm a newbie to PocketPC, I just bought an used PocketPC from my friend.
It's a T-mobile MDA Compact with O2 mini traditional chinese firmware. All the menu, everything is in chinese. The problem is...i can't really read chinese.
It maybe a dumb question! But i just wonder can any PPC experts here show me "Step by Step" how to flash it to an English ROM?
thanks everyone very very much!!
Cora. ^^
1. Download any Magician WWE ROM (latest is ver 1.13) and the file MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from this board's ftp.
2. Extract the zip file and copy MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to the same folder where you extracted the ROM.
3. Disable the USB connection in ActiveSync.
4. Put you MDA in bootloader mode (press power+camera+resest at the same time.
4. Plug in your MDA to the USB cable.
5. Double click on the file MaUpgradeUt_noID.
I have followed the steps... After run the "MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe", and click "NEXT"... then.. It says "Checking the information on your device... Please wait... " i have waited over 10mins, but still nothing happened. Wonder is there anything i have done wrong?? thx
Cora.
FINALLY... it's working!!
THX THX everyone!!
CORA.
What shall I do if on stage 2 it always stops on 24%....and nothing happens?

Does ROM flashing need ActiveSync?

I am having lots of problems getting ActiveSync to work. I can transfer files using Bluetooth.
Do I need a working ActiveSync connection to flash a ROM?
The Hard SPL pages talks about connecting the ActiveSync cable, but does not say why this is necessary.
I have a 4 Gig MicroSD card installed. Can I simply load all the necessary files onto it and go from there?
Perhaps a non-Orange ROM will solve my ActiveSync problem (not the reason I want to flash, but a possible good side effect).
Yes, you need activesync or the vista counterpart.
Try this - go to Settings | Connections | USB to PC | UN-check Enable Advanced network functionality and see if that helps

ActiveSync will tell your Windows XP that the connected device is a Pocket PC and not something else. (Drivers)

ROMs can be flashed with SD card. But the method and the files are different. Usually this is not on a first priority choice for cookers. And I dont remember Hard-SPL through SD. Though, going through a PC is always best as flashing ROMs are quite dangerous and if anything gets stuck in the middle, you shall try again from the PC but not through SD when your device doesn't even boot!

Original(shipped) ROMs are always best. They dont give you much errors. People recover their device using original ROMs in case if they bricked their device using a cooked ROM! Original ROM can be flashed direct from Bootloader screen most of the times but would still require ActiveSync be installed.
Regards,
Carty..
You can use your memory card as per instructed here > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336158
Also you could try and put your phone into the bootloader mode by hand (instructions here > http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Resets ) that should work also as your computer uses a different set of drivers when flashing

it means yu hav to connect yur uni directly to the pc usb port, not through a hub, to avoid unwarranted disconnection. it is just a precaution and does not necessarily mean that flashing cannot be done through a hub.
as to the second query, if the mtty process is what you meant, be sure to disable usb in the activesync connection setting in order for usb prompt to appear.. cheers...
Not workign
If you are on windows 7 and are struggling with MTTY not showing USB use this - forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540290
I think the most important things are the drivers.
Good luck

Problems flashing cooked WM6 ROM

Hi all,
I am following the steps described in the forum.
I have unlock the universal and follow all the steps (i think so)
In my Universal appears the bootleader with the USB when the USB is connected and serial when not. In the PC i have unchecked the usb connection in the ActiveSync etc... But when i run in the PC the "ROMUpgradeUt" program provided with the cooked ROM package it seems that is not communicating properly with the Universal. First of all when it appers the screen that informs you about the current version of the pda and the upgrade to perform, both fields are empty, Then i click in "next" button and after a while (that informs you that the process could take 20 minutes) it appears some error regarding to the connection (i guess)...
More info: No USB HUB but Windows Xp running on wmware, but the Active Sync works perfectly on vmware.
Please could you help me ?
Thanks!
Er.....
I would first update your bootloader to: 2.01
Then i would check if your uni if connecting to the VMware copy of XP,
another opition you could do if partion your hard-drive nad load XP on to it...
OK Thanks!
But i don't find the bootloader version that you point... i have downloaded the one i have from the main thread of ROM Upgrade... could someone put the link?
thanks
Hi again,
My bootloader version is 1.0 so it is a G3, anyway, Can i update it to WM6 or not ?
Thanks in advance
you should bew able to,
Arr yes, hgave u SPLed ur uni?

Hi!
